Randomly being called a bot, when your not a botter...

I'm just loving this new community! What is it with everyone either botting or people running around calling you a bot, when you are not? It's just very irritating, because I know how serious botting is. I'd sure hate to see someone get banned because people are going around shouting and or 'pushing the bot report button' on you or a friend who is NOT botting. Beware if you dare decide to lvl up an iss, apparently bladedancers and warcryers are automatically suspect. Lame...
funny and sad at the same time...
Well, Warcryers are rather known to be especially subject to botting simply because they just need to use one skill, all the way from 1 to 85.
Having said this, it's quite frequent to get the "bot" label even when you're a live player, or mistakenly think that a live player is a bot. But I agree that being called a bot, maybe just because you were first, is rather irritating.

I do hope that NCsoft has a 'more technical' way of deciphering 'botters' from non-botters, rather than just the random griefer running around using his 'report-a-bot-button'.
I've been called a bot or accused of botting a couple of times by people I was partied with, once for helping wreck a Labyrinth run by aggroing mobs the party was trying to avoid, owing to unfamiliarity with this game's targetting system, & once for not knowing the name of one of the excessive number of skills my character (EE) had scattered about the 5 or 6 quickbars I'd filled by that level (consequence of how fast you level post GoD I suppose).

Whereas in Guild Wars someone in a PvP match called my ranger a bot because by sheer dumb luck I managed to dshot his mesmer twice in quick succession (after failiing miserably to interrupt anyone for most of the battle).

bot report button is not/will not/was not/never is or will be a reason to ban anyone and if you bot you can't use this as excuse cuz you can't be banned even if every player in the server report 1000 times.

bot report button is just a "hey gm this toon COULD be a bot plz CHECK" and after that click is gm work to verify with more sophisticated tools if you are a real bot or not.(server side tools should be able to detects bot very easily for gms but it seems they have ban seasons intead of ban inmediately)

for the tards:

1.) no your friend was not banned cuz war pressed 100 times button, he was boting or buy adenas or using ranger.

2.) but my friend took me to church and in front of god it self said he didn't and i believe it1!! <---- you are an idiot and prolly life is hard for you in many ways

3.) but i heard a friend telling me to report wars with button to get them banned <--- someone noticed you are an idiot and took advantage of you, yeah life is hard

4.)whatever other idiotic question <--- stop boting/buy adenas/ranger/l2phx/etc and dont waste time whinning here nobody care or will care or help you in any way except other botters in your situation cuz no one care about them either
one thing i have noticed too is for many people a second account or box'ed character is considered a "BOT" to them even if it is just standing there and not casting anything.

they will accuse you of "botting" for just having someone on follow.

Just the way people from different parts of the world look at things I guess.
Jealousy is the reason there is war

Why do you care? I wouldn't care if people reported me every time they saw me. I wouldn't care if they shouted I was a bot whenever I walked by.

...unless you are...

Had some idiot "report" me and a friend for botting in the swamp, while both of us were talking back, and he had video of us botting, that was right after GoD hit, we're still here, just ignore em like we did, it's some poor kid looking for attention
that what everyone always says these days "ur bot" excuse when ur either higher then them or better geared or killed them in pvp or in top clan.

but if ur not botting who the **** cares rlly?
Not to take away from the L2 botting problem, but many players do not know a bot from legit player. The bot label is often applied to anyone higher level, anyone hunting more efficiently, anyone running more than one account, anyone hunting in an area that someone else wants, or anyone that does not respond to being called a bot by some scrub idiot. It is likely that anyone playing this game for any length of time has been called a bot, accused of botting or silently reported by someone.

You won't be banned because another player calls you a bot. If you are worried that NCsoft will ban you, it is unlikely since they have a very conservative policy geared towards investigation and not heresay. if you are worried about other players calling you a bot, I suggest developing a thicker skin and ignoring dimwits.

Wow, nice feedback. You are the only one here on this thread that doesn't 'see' the obvious. Move along dude...

Agreed. Thanks for the feedback.
I was in a party in Harnaks on my dagger and got accused a few times of being an afk xper or bot. I kept telling them in chat I was there. Some people just think everyone's a bot. I wouldn't worry about it.

Okay then, genius. What is the obvious problem? Because, honestly, I don't see a problem with people pressing the report bot button at me all day.
Uhmm i think you bot, suspicious this post is

Clearly you ARE a bot
Been happening for years. Ignore them and move on.

If you have high playtimes and like to XP in the same spot for several hours and don't chit chat with every single person that runs past you (nevermind all the adena from teh MOBs are on teh ground and a bot wouldn't just leave it there) your chances of being incorrectly labeled a bot jump up substantially.

Like I said, It' sbeen hapening for over half a decade. It's really nothing to worry about. People are just being people.
The general mentality of the overall server population is as follows:

If you have more adena you're an ebayer.
If you have better armor you're an ebayer.
If you have better weapons you're an ebayer.
If you're higher level you're a botter.
If you can kill many people by yourself you're a botter.
If you box any amount of characters you're a botter.
If in any way you are better than those around you you are using some sort of cheat or illegal way of acomplishing this.

You shouldn't worry about players accusing you of anything. NcSoft has server monitoring tools/programs to detect and enforce their game rules. They're capable of detecting speed hacks, memory edit, (3rd party)macros, BOTs, DLL injections and packet authentication.

It's not just about NCSoft. It's about your general persona and reputation on your server. It's a game so people have no issues repeating rumors that are baseless even if they don't believe them because they think it's funny, and some people take this seriously and it can affect your gaming experience as a result. They don't think it can affect others personally (or don't care). It's just another form of cyber-bullying, IMO.

For example, you may not be able to get in some groups because <x> told <y> you were botting in swamplands, when you were there and just didn't feel like responding to anything and interrupting your grind (for however short length of time).

If someone flags on bots and you see them flagged and kill them for the +1 they may shout that you are a bot protector. That's a pretty common one that happens, as well...

And for those complaining about the terrible bot reporting system. It's terrible because clans were abusing it to spam report wartags, even on the seige field. It's also limited by IP so you cannot box toons to get a ton of reports racked up.
I wouldn't say a reputable clan would accept rumors. Screenshots (series of) and movies can cement someone's reputation.

I was p'lvling my Spellsinger to 70 (my 76 dwarfie needs the wep) in VoS boxing my DC on his EE sub for recharge, not picking up any drops and an Awakened hung around me suspiciously long then said hi. When I said hi back, he rode off.

The next spot over was a mentee trio of bots with the SH at times picking up my loot like breadcrumbs and BD dancing one rhythm at a time. Pretty easy to exploit the mentee system to farm mentor points, afk a trio to 85, create 3 more, repeat. I'm not awakened yet, so I don't know how lucrative that would be.

So do I, I thought I had targetted a bot, but obviously missed and I had my 2box healer on target and bot reported her.. oops.. that was some time back, so I guess they realise that idiots like me exist in game :)

I laugh when these people use their leet bot detection methods on me. Come up and say, "hi". That's it. Either that or some jibberish. It's even funnier when I'm solo, cuz you know, that's how most bots roll.

i've read this statement a few times now... "one skill 1-85"

you dont get drain untill lvl 7 and you switch to steal essence at 40

It's not literal, you know... :p At least from my part.
I know enough the orc mages to never really think they use Steal Essence from lv 1. It's just to say that they have become the one-button-farm-forever class of this chronicle.

****it! Is that why I'm still level one??
A lot of ppl see conspiracy and bots everywhere they turn. I was in altar yesterday power leveling my PP to 85 so I could awaken it as a healer and had some nub tell me they'd reported my bot train. When I asked what they were talking about they told me they knew I was there protecting the bot train that was running nearby. I lol'd and threw a war invite to them with an alt clan, it's my newest method of making noobs pay for aggravating me with their stupidity.
hehe.. i was called a bot once.. i just KSed them all the way until they quit! haha!

when i play.. i rarely type, i use the same skills because they are the most effective against monsters, i stay in one spot because it is the best spot for me..

that is why some people call others a bot even when they are not..

like me!
Guys why are you surprized by that? It happens in Real life too. every handsome guy who gets the best chick from the neighbourhood he is either a gay or rich in the eyes of the losers. hahahaha
Same people who play in real life play on Lineage 2 world as well.

Once I left my char on a road far from mobs siting, I went to pee. Came back to a dead char and a comment "**** botter". Now I ask, aren't bots supposed to idk, maybe kill mobs? Spoil? Lvl? Farm or something?

Bots nowadays just sit! /sarcasm_off

Bots!!! Bots everywhere!!! **** paranoid ppl. Yeah it's full of bots, but rly every char that is better than u doesn't have to be a botter lol

any fighter can /attack 1-85, any nuker can mash 1 nuke button from 1-85, any archer can /attack 1-85...
the argument against orc mages is purely mana steal, but they have been able to vr mana for a long time now. it just switched from having to stop every few mobs and melee a mob or 2 for mana to now you can basically just nuke away.

I believe they have. Many times I was reported for dualboxing (sometimes it is very hard to explain somebody that dualbox isn't against rules and it is not same as botting)..
