some tips for kartia (solo)

General Discussion Started Last reply 27 posts
Ok, so a lot of people are having trouble finishing the solo kartia, and I'll admit, it took me a few tries to get it right, here's some helpful tips.
This is not an attempt at telling you how you should do it, if you have a tactic that works for your class, stick with that. These are more like tips for people struggling to finish it.

General:
- the class you choose, is the class that WON'T be coming along, being an ISS, I sent the archer off (if you can't heal, for the love of <insert deity>, don't send the healer off)
- if you can't take a lot of damage and all your AOE skills have a CD, pop them and then run in circles till they're off CD, most mobs in here are rly slow and melee (ranged ones don't seem to do that much damage)
- one of the NPCs will throw hate auras, use this to your advantage, you can easily let those NPC helpers do most of the work
- knight's harmony can make a world of difference
- make sure to have backup buff items on you (scrolls, milk, cocktail, w/e you fancy)

First room:
- fight at the back stairs (the one the mobs come from)
- don't walk up those stairs, you will be teleported back (you could use this as a tactic if you're almost dead, as the mobs have to move towards you again)
- try to make sure those guards in the top tower don't die, they will help you later on

Second room:
- don't run in, let the mobs come out, that way they won't all hit you at the same time
- after you killed the mobs, run in, it will teleport you to pretty much the spot you were
- pull the boss to the entrance of that room, again so the mobs don't all reach you at the same time
- once the boss starts running, the other door will open, run into that hallway to finish off any leftover mobs

Third room:
- this one is actually pretty simple, you have enough space to kite (for AOE CDs)
- try to let your NPC friends aggro the boss, just focus on keeping yourself alive (this ****** throws like 5 second fears...)
- once he's dead, gasp at the amount of XP you just got, port out and claim your worthless box!

any more helpful tips (without being a ****** about it)?
Move to guide section pls =)

Gd guide also.
Really liking the new Katia instances. It took me just under 30 mins to complete the solo instance on 87 healer using regular ISS buffs, no sonatas. I did it first try and got about 440m XP (3%?).

Yesterday I made about 11% at 87 over solo nursery, swamp daily, soa daily and the two katia dailies, about 3H actual hunting in total. :D
thank you for the tips, i'm liking it :P
and claim your worthless box!

oops :o
anything specific i should know as a healer? other than those things hit like a truck... 87lvl and +3 immo. i was pulling aggro from the tank just by putting lumi on the boss, worst tank ever... never party with adolf.

You aren't talking about solo but I did 2 times Kartia party and most of the time the Boss was after 1 of the 2 healers (almost never attacked the 2nd healer in both cases)

As for solo better do it when GM are online and get 1 hour Full ISS buffs
Don't take the summoner...His pets get bugged sometimes and you don't have them on 2nd/3rd boss.
Try to save the Prisoners. They have very strong damage output (low attack speed but high p. atack)
The healer will recharge you even though you are healer.

any tips for this?
how i safe them? I don't let any mob go up the stairs.
All I see is they lose hp from a beam out of the sky:confused:
heal them till the hp stops dropping as healer u can have a whole army of healer buffed npcs fighting for u

and i would send summoner home he is so useless =/
In principle good tips and thx.
However some questions and mine observations.

As nuker I have found that sending out archer is good option for me.
Far easier then with when I dismiss summoner.

About buffs Iss buffs + Knight is just ok.
------------

How to NOT lose prisoners?

I killed all mobs attacking prisoners .... but I notice they are still dying killed by some 'ray' from top of construction.
I tried 'convinced' healer to stay on top and heal prisoners but she has own intelligence.
I manage to bring 2 alive and 1 and even 0 :/
Any ideas? ( i can't heal them)

Tips about summoner.
He is really strong and useful ... but you need to look at him when you go to RB room.
He has some tendency to leave summons far away.
As result when door has been closed, once I manage to get summoner without single summon :D
Funny but useless :(

RB as nuker is very easy.
I just hit as much ... to not get aggro.
If I got, I'm just jumping ... as long team retake aggro.

Tip with no attempting to solo RB was actually very useful :D

As a class that cannot heal others (summoner)...i can only tell you, kill the waves as fast as you can and hope that it doesn't take long for the next stage to come (sometimes there's delays between each stage after all mobs dead)...the longer you take the more chances they all die.

I notice that when i stay and atk the monsters the moment they come down stairs i always end up with one or more soldiers. But if i stay with soldiers, the monsters take too much time to reach me and so the soldiers end up dying from that moon.

I also tried to get the healer to heal the soldiers but nope...he stayed useless in his litle corner.

I read the whole thing, you just give a description of the whole instance. NO tips.

Ok, I will do the real thing and give some ACTUAL tips.

TIP #1 Get Knight Harmony REGARDLESS of your class.
TIP #2 Find a Healer friend to cast on you Salvation, (emphasis on *friend*) so you can get a second chance if things go bad.
TIP #3 Don't try to tank unless you are a tank. Kite as much as possible.
TIP #4 Get an Elixir + a Drum Scroll or even simple Milk, cause your buffs will most likely run out before the thing ends.

Thanks for listening

Actually the OP gave a lot of tips/advice. He gave a guide for the whole instance not just a few little tips like you.

Thanks for the extra tips but don't diss the OP for a very good bit of help.

Yea they're all good to do if you have no party or just waiting around for constant to start. Can do ~9% an hour @87 in Harnaks 3rd w/vit/rune/mentee, but yea this is a good supplement.

That is a good tip :D first time i managed to do it in less than 30 minutes, yesterday i run out of buffs when final boss had still half hp O.o so i hide and let the npc's to kill him it was slow but worked ^^

Go again?

Why did you use the word 'diss' to describe my view on the op? Where are you from? The ghetto?

Unless I need glasses or my eyes are playing a game on me, the topic of the thread is 'some tips for Kartia'. Instead of some tips about the instance, I read a small essay describing the instance.

So my post is more of an accurate description of what this thread should have been about.

Cheers

This is actually something you should always have in your inventory regardless.

Even being an ISS i always carry these around...

You took what the OP said and said 'read it, no tips, heres some real tips'. Pretty arrogant and rude considering he gave some good advice, you didn't even aknowledge the OPs advice just trashed it.

bla bla Hi I'm Capt. Obvious bla bla

I'm amazed how some ppl. can manage to look that bad with just typing a few words...

@OP seutje: Well done, ty.

Actually he gave more tips than you if you read without rushing.:D

I'm with Ferine on this one. The OP provided both an explanation of the instance and provided a lot of side-information and situational tips. Honestly, I think he did a wonderful job.

Had he just provided a description of the instance, he would have been plain like this:

Kill 7 stages of mobs, ending with Riftkeeper. Move up, finish up next room. Then move on to boss room, do 7 more stages and kill boss on final (7th) stage.

He instead broke it down, very clearly, and provided tips for everything. I count 10 tips that are clearly tips and then some notes that are common sense for some, but not entirely clear for a lot of people attempting the solo instance.

I have a feeling that what is happening, within your interpretation, is that you're seeing a difference between suggestions and advice, and how you associate those to "tips." I feel that everything he mentioned were proper advice, and everything you mentioned, besides #2 and arguably #4 , are merely suggestions to improve upon something, but may not be entirely valid. I'm not saying you're wrong for seeing things that way, but I think that's why you're interpreting things differently -- you may see all he has said as common sense or suggestions, and your views as advice.

Defending Ferine:

Who cares if he was/is from a ghetto? What are you implying? People who are hard-shipped are inferior to you? And it's highly irrational for you to come to that conclusion from him using the word 'diss'; with that logic I'm a pot smoking surfer because I use 'dude' and 'man' very regularly in my spoken vocabulary.

I would encourage you to not be so rash in attacking people, as like Ferine said, you come off extremely rude, especially in juxtaposition to the OP trying to help a large number of people who are having problems with the instance.
After I read trough whole post again i mustered up the courage to do the solo instance again and after much work i finally completed the instance and collected my awesome xp

So, i guess this is my thanks to you :)

You aren't talking about solo but I did 2 times Kartia party and most of the time the Boss was after 1 of the 2 healers (almost never attacked the 2nd healer in both cases)

I was referring to the NPC tank that goes in with you, Adolf is his name and it seems like he is less buggy than the first few times I tried it.

As far as taking the healer with you, this is a must, even for a healer class. once i started taking her with me I haven't died.

Generally speaking i just run around in circles till adolf takes aggro and run past the mobs and cast dark rain and keep running, usually 2 hits is all it takes to kill each wave. I didn't see it mentioned yet but it seems that at each 25% health on the final boss is when new minions spawn, so watch his health bar and be ready to run/dark rain some more.

I still havent managed to save any of the prisoners, but maybe im just nervous about getting stuck on the stairs and trapped by mobs.

A side note on the GM buffs, tried it yesterday with them and the instance was really easy even though I got warriors harmony from the gm.
One little thing I found out for ISS/Wynn in the instance.

Petrify and Exile work to stop the prisoners losing HP when they're getting drained by the lazer.

With Exile though you have to use it at over about 60% hp on the prisoner otherwise it kills them too.

It's really easy to save the prisoners with healer, just stand at the top of the stairs and heal them with a single target heal when they change stance into combat mode and start losing hp. You can ignore them mobs and just heal yourself and the prisoners.

Save all 10 prisoners, buff them up and the boss room takes 6 minutes from stage 1-> boss dead, whole instance done in ~25 minutes. I always send the healer home on my healer.
