Why is it that when you take down the server for 5 hours you also take away my neuvit runes that i paid real gold! (well the monetary equivalent of real gold anyways). It is inconceivable that you already charge people time for using their neuvit runes when they are logged off, but when you have server maintenance shouldn't you at least stop the counters on all these neuvit runes?

I have half a mind to call the BBB and demand they investigate your profiteering ways.
why did you used the RUNE if you knew there is gonna be a maintenance?
why don't you read the announcements?

+1 Dude, there is a maintenance scheduled every wednesday... WTH do u use it then???

Please stop QQ and start blaming yourself !!! :D
i bought a 7 day 200exp neuvit rune. It was down to about 5 hours close to the start of the maintenance. I do not understand this phenomena in lineage where you feel the need to defend NCsoft when they are clearly the ones playing the big evil faceless corporation while you ignorant individuals think that somehow "sucking up" will in turn give you additional EXP or ITEMS? Dont ever forget this is a business model and they have a sole goal of making profits for their stockholders. The only real time when you can accuse them of their actions is when they are exploiting their customers by selling items that are not what they appear to be. The Neuvit runes never state that it will continue to rune when the server is down, only that when you are logged out it still continue to run it's timer. This bugs me greatly as the flaw is not with the customer but with the provider.

yeah you feel bad now dont you? why dont you think of the hypothetical before you start judging people on their reading comprehension. :D
Your attempts at slander don't actually work in the transactions you have made with NCSoft.

Snake oil merchant: An untrustworthy person who can easily convince other people to trust him and believe his lies

This is obviously not a true statement, everything they do and say is dissected and not believed.

Profiteering: To make excessive profits on goods in short supply.

Nothing they provide is in short demand and the main goal of a company is to make large profits. It would be ridiculous to purposely fail at making lots of profits.

excuse me?
I do not follow your logic

I agree it is ridiculous to "fail" at making profits, but when your profits come from trickery and deception (as stated above) people like me have a problem.
I do not follow your logic

A true snake oil merchant has the power to make you believe their lies. NCSoft has always had a disadvantage in the department, the community never believes them about anything.

ah.. touche good sir!
To be fair, 7 day runes and all other XP Runes should have their timers halted during maintenance day.

Makes logical sense and fair yes?
from a moral point a view, I agree with you
from a business point of view, it's just not worth implementing

Snake oil implies they are telling you it's one thing when in reality it is another. The description on these items clearly states how they work. It is not ambiguous at all.

I have half a mind
Clearly...

How is it not ambiguous when they do not state that they are still running the timer on these runes even if the server is down for maintenance?
What reason do you have to insult me when almost everyone agrees that this is shameful business practices. You know this is morally wrong and profiteering and yet you insult me? what you hold NCsoft shares or something?

It's not profiteering and it clearly states that the timer on the item runs even when you aren't logged on. I don't know how you can claim that isn't clear.
Post a screen shot of where it is ambiguous so we can all see what you are referencing.
Here's a link to an item you can buy online that has a timer. Scroll to the bottom and read "2. Description, #3.". I'm not seeing any ambiguity here...

Yeah "will continue to tick down even when you are not logged in the game."

There is a big difference between me not logging in and them NOT LETTING ME LOG IN. That's the ambiguity. Like i said before why would you defend their business practices when you know they are immoral.

Not to a clock. If you're not logged in, you're not logged in. How is that ambiguous?

How is it immoral? How do you define immorality? The item is clearly labelled and does EXACTLY what it says it is supposed to do.

Here's a real world scenario for you. You buy a car that has a 5 year warranty. Do you know that the warranty runs down even if you don't drive the car? Even if you lose your drivers license and are not allowed to drive it? Immoral, right?

If your going to throw up straw man arguments you better at least make one that is relevant to the case in point.

Ill use your example of the 5 year warranty on the car, the warranty still runs sure, but in this case the manufacture of the vehicle takes your vehicle away and prevents it's usage all the while still runs the clock on your warranty.
That is immoral.

I dont know what the hell your problem is, but it boils down to this:

You buy a rune that gives u 7 days time to use, whether or not you use it is up to you, clock runs regardless

you use it, but are then prevented from using it by the company who sold you the rune all the while they still tick down the timer

You dont have a problem with this? If you agree with the above premise then you should maybe just shut your face?

I don't have a problem with it because I never made the assumption that maintenance times (which happen every week) were excluded from the use time of the item. Then again, I'm not a whiny little girl and four hours (give or take) isn't going to make a bit of difference to me.

Apologies to all little girls who aren't whiny.

Great analogy!! I few more of mine to help.

You go on vacation and don't have your car with you to drive.

You put your car in the shop to get it repaired and they take an extra week or two.

You are at a car wash and they run out of water.

You blow the transmission towing a 34' boat and voids the warranty.

You get a DUI and are not allowed to drive.

I'll add that with your car warranty, you are REQUIRED to have regular maintenance done of the car (oil changes, etc). You are not credited for the time it takes to have this maintenance.

Ha! i like how when you don't have a leg to stand on you resort to petty name calling. You just make yourself sound even more like an ***.

Another fallacy on your part. Regular maintenance is suggested by the manufacture but they cannot void your warranty unless they can prove that the lack of maintenance caused the item in question to fail. Why don't you go read up on your warranty manual before you post?

what does this have to do with anything?

The analogy only applies successfully to this case point if the manufacture prevents you from using the item as intended. In all those scenarios above you have the choice to do it or not. Not in the case of these runes.

The choice of whether to use it or not is up to the user. But at this point that choice, that inherent freedom unless stipulated elsewhere in the fine print, was taken away from the user when the server goes down.

Show me where I called you anything.

The bottom line is you made an assumption that maintenance wouldn't count in the time. That assumption was wrong and now you're raging about it. You claim (with the title of this thread) that NCSoft misrepresented how the item would work. And again, you are wrong. Just because you decide to make up some rules about how you feel stuff should work doesn't make it so.

It's not ambiguous by any definition. It's not misrepresented in any fashion.

If you truly felt that there was a question about how it will work, you should have posted a question to NCSoft before buying it.
Technically and legally, NCSoft is not doing anything wrong. However, I empathize with the poster, that the clock unfairly ticks on a purchased item even while unavailable to use.

IMO, whether you pay for 1 hour or 7 days, you should be able to use it for the duration listed, disclaimers nor not. Even ticking down while logged off is not a good buy, and that's why I don't buy any for extended periods, because my schedule is not concrete. I only buy what I know I will use at the moment, unless there is no timer.

Seriously though, if you dislike legalities and technicalities of corporations THAT much to complain like this, then just boycott them. I hear the Amish and some country hermits get by without big corporations just fine, and you can too!

Are you seriously crying about not getting the last 5 hours of your 168 hours of nevit?

Do you beat yourself if you overslept and couldnt maximize exp gain?

Seriously...

You could use those 4 hours of down time and lost time on your 7 day nevits rune, to go work, and buy another one! :D Its like it was meant to be.... Perhaps a conspiracy by NCwest to get you to make more money.... so... they could.... take it....
When you buy an avocado everyone knows you have a few days until it is too ripe to enjoy. You waste this precious time and the fruit rots away on the counter, who is to blame?

Omg truer words were never spoken
while i think to cry about it is a joke, i do agree that its kind of a jip.

the item should be renamed nevit's 6 day 20 hours rune since even if you use it directly after server comes up you dont have a full 168 hours until they take the servers down again.
