As the title says..... why have NCSoft even bothered to continue the line of crossbows in L2, following GoD?
Maybe iv'e missed a point or something, but i doubt it.....
Take the Requiem weapons as an example;
The crossbow got 535 P.att and crit. rate: 10.00 ----- while bow got 831 P.att and crit. rate: 12.00, and just about every other stat is the same now between bow and crossbow.... before GoD, crossbow had almost dubble the att. speed and equal crit. rate of bow., at the expense of having less p. att.... but as far as i can see, they dont anymore, so thats another two advantages they lost to bow, while the disadvantage of way less p. att remains.
And compared to all other weapons, you can almost aquire them for free, cus noone seem to want or need them, basicly because now bow is = "all advantage", and crossbows are = "all disadvantage".
So as far as i can see, crossbows REALLY need a makeover and a good balace fixing in L2....
There was once a development team which created Lineage II, laid down the lore and started implementing the game systems to match that lore.
Than some time later came a new team, and they said "screw previous lore, it would require us to read more than two pages of text, that's ridiculous! We want one-winged emo chicken!" Thus, Kamael and their special weapons were born. But the old stuff still lingered, for the most part.
A bit of time later, yet another team came ans said "screw previous lore ... and for that matter, screw previous game mechanics, we are too dumb to balance all those classes anyway, let's make it just like Aion!" Thus, we got Goddess of Destruction. But the old stuff still lingers, for the most part.
Same reason fists are still in the game. Although useless, there's still people too stubborn to change the type of weapon they've always used on their toon.
