So I just started playing this game 3 days ago and I am kinda dissapointed with the PvP system in this game. I am level 46 now and I have yet to encounter any PvP action. You can't duel in towns, and if I go outside there is no one there. I checked out arena/undeground pvp, and its also deserted. I'm not comletely sure how pvp in the open works, but if I kill someone I get penalty..? and after that can't get xp or do quests..? what is the point of that?
You are too low level to even think about pvp. Get 85,awaken,join a pvp oriented clan that has wars and kill to you explode. Matter of fact they'll most likely be a party looking for war tags. Don't bother right now. Focus on levels and gear

To kill someone without penalty they either have to be flagged (purple) or you have to be in opposing clans that have an active war. There's pvp 85+, and some random pvp in lower level areas like TOI, but most pvp will come from being in bigger clans once you awaken.
Anything under 85 is Novice, impossible to win in PVP tier and anything under 90 is scrub tier.
It shouldn't take more than a few days to get to 85 but yeah most people high high 50s/ early 60s on their first day so you won't find much of anyone at your level.
It definitely takes more than a few days on an adventurer, I'll tell you that much. If you're getting it in a few days you must have bought all kinds of runes and have a mentor.
It's still faster than a tank and a buddy of mine got his reroll from lvl 1 to 89 at 72% in a month. Yes he paid for runes and vitality potions (just as I have) but that's just a testament to how easy you have it. How fast you climb is up to you but the means are there for anyone to use.
Even at 84 when I'm power leveling someone they get 50% an hour so pre 85 is no big deal. All I'm saying is that if you want to PVP awaken first because anything under does not matter in the slightest, not that you'll stay whatever level you are for long.
There is PvP. You just have to start it. This nub on his orc toon as a bishop sub decided to try to take my spot around Devestaded Castle, so I KS him. He flagged, I killed him. He cameback with his friends and I tricked him into going red on his main awakened toon (3 pks) and his toon that he tried to steal my spot with(1 pk). He left ****** off because he now has to work off the red and I got my spot back.
This game COULD use some more pvp options, especially for those that haven't awakened. Imo an instanced 7 v 7 pvp ladder could be fun or just another take on the now standard "battlegrounds" that WoW spawned. I realize I open myself to flaming for bringing that game up but come on, sometimes you just want to pvp and not have to worry about losing xp or clan rep.
That said, the clan wars/open world pvp in this game offer pvp like no other and I love it, I just wish there were more options is all. Group pvp is fiercely fast (and fun) in this game, the problem is I think a lot of newer players won't stick out the grind to 85 and experience it.
Don't bother trying open-field pvp if you're under 85 unless you have to. It's a waste of time, it makes you lvl a lot slower. I had 0 pvp until I got lvl 85 and 2-3 days after that I got ~50 pvp. Every single time I port to swamp/SoA I see some little pvps going on, especially on SoA. The fun only starts when you're 85.
On the "PvP system" topic - NCSoft should really remove the xp loss on pvp. That would promote more pvps and less bsoe. Ppl just bsoe soooo much it's not even fun any more.

Go level up 1st to see the place where they PVP.
Maybe even with a blink of their eye you'll be dead for sure.
Your going so slow... 3 days and your still lvl 43, try search on forum how to get 85+ within 5 days.
And I'm sure you are NOT aware that there is a FREE items on "Path to Awaken"
My mage had already ~ 15 pvps as he hitted mid 20's.
Once i was at Wastelands i gained even more pvps. Now he is lvl 41 and on deletion mode with about 30 pvps.
If u want more pvp, flag others near you, KS their mobs, trash talk a lil.
You will see, this will work like a charm.

I really think people curious about L2 PvP would be better served to go with Dreamer's reply, than most of the others in this thread.
I mean, someone actually complaining that PvP'ing slows down leveling. Really? -facepalm- There's something very wrong when PvP in a PvP MMO is considered secondary, not to mention a hindrance, to leveling.
Sad to see such a change in the attitude of players in this game. It *used* to be a game where PvP was encouraged and common at almost all level ranges. I was PvP'ing other players regularly when my character was in their 20s and 30s and on up, fighting over hunting spots, clan wars, helping clan members, etc. Looks like the whole "MMOs are all about leveling as fast as possible to end game" attitude has infected L2 now.
I also see the typical self-reinforcing and circular logic at work. "There's no PvP until level cap because people race to level cap as fast as possible because there's no PvP until level cap because people race to level cap as fast as possible..." ad infinitum.
So yeah, again, anyone reading this post concerned about the OP's statements, I'd go straight to Dreamer's post and ignore most of the rest. Dreamer describes what PvP has been and can still be like in this game. The others seem to have adapted the typical PvE/Themepark approach to it (e.g. "end game is all that matters!").

Okay, get a level 40 character and hit my level 87 healer. Watch what happens.

You can't pvp below lvl 85, not because there are no people, but because everyone has a high lvl awakened char to watch their back.
Knowing this, some don't even try to start a fight but PM you directly to say :"leave the spot or my mentor will come and pk you"
It happen to me yesterday in pavel ruins.
Guess what? The mentor not only didn't pk me, but buffed me and said to let that idiot alone, because he can't wait to get rid of him...aka graduation.
The pvp till lvl 85 is a necessary practice.
Most of the new clans have no idea how to pvp, because they haven't done it before lvl 85 and it's very different to coordinate your attacks against players, than against mobs.
My clan has Gludio Castle and in the last 2-3 weeks since I entered the clan, no clan war has been won. I'm stunned, how is it possible?
Something is definitely wrong with the current pvp/pk system.

You still can. Only the 20s and 30s are a few hours now. Have at it!

I am my own mentor but it's also cool to TOY with KSers!
Im making bd which is a melle class, i always have my box mentor logged in. I always get around 2-3 ppl starting KSing me with healers and nukers, they speaking their gr and fr and putting :D and =), i don't even speak. Summon myself, DOT them, they're gone and start QQ. If i dont go KS others, i apreciate that they dont do the same to me. They give me no choice really.

The game was always how fast you could get to max level.
Why do you think that at the end 95% of the server were botters. A lot of them played all the servers at the same time...but eventually everyone was on the same two servers.
Botting was a good business until they just about killed the game.
Then NC made it Pay to Win. ....and all the SCUM started to reappear again.
I mean really botts are now all over the place.
PvP below 85 was a joke even before GoD. PvP started going downhill after Interlude when NCSoft injected a ton of Imba Skills into the game, added Attribute and Gear that was farmable in class-discriminating areas, and introduced mechanics like unresistable Buff Stealing. It's no wonder the game really started going downhill after Interlude.
Since the the game has shrunk the level range of competitiveness update after update.
Even an 85 char is uncompetitive. You really need to be around 90+ to be really competitive and by that I'm talking about group/mass PvP not uselessly ganking soloers in Swamplands or Altar, or killing low level wartag groups in Harnak with full geared 9x PvP parties.
It's perfectly reasonable to expect to PvP at low levels against opponents your level, and it used to happen all the time back in the day. It just doesn't anymore, because those levels are deemed pretty much non-factor and everyone's concern is getting through them as soon as possible.
Also, NCSoft has basically given up on balancing PvP at the Pre-R Grade levels. Hell, they almost don't seem to care about R Grade, either, anyways...
Even if the OP was 85 he'd be asking a similar question, like "how come I get to 85 and I still get facerolled by all these random toons running around in Twilight with 300 Apoc weapons, etc.?"
You can PvP in a few months, if you have good playtimes. Just gonna have to deal with the boring grind until then.

The OP wants PvsP at level 20.....hahahahahahha!
That's not true. Up until Interlude you could take High A Graders to PvP S Graders and not feel like they were baggage, because the game mechanics weren't so hard stacked against them. Now you cannot take S80 toons to PvP even level 85s because they lose by default. Also back then the max level wasn't so high. Adding 14 levels in GoD was pretty careless, IMO, because it allows botters and powerlevelers to get too far ahead to the point where it's almost impossible to suitably balance things.
It also put the class distribution on the servers out of balance because now everyone (as in a majority of players) wants to play the fastest leveling DD classes instead of slower leveling support classes. There are a ton of healers but I bet half of them are alts that used to be someone's boxed buffer. Probably 65% of the Enchanters on a every server are boxed (go by the Kartia NPC and see how many boxed Iss are there). That's probably a low estimation... However, hardly anyone wants to play a tank now, cause they're terrible solo, and I know a few people who rerolled their Tyr Warriors and Rogues to Summoners or Wizards because those classes solo better.
The Pay 2 Win is a wholly different matter deserving its own thread (I think it has like 10 threads now, Lol).
The OP is level 46, not level 20. I remember PvPing at that level back when. Whey can't he expect a similar experience (theoretically speaking)?

Join a clan if they take ppl like you, and be a feeding meat. ;) You will instantly be flame bouyant and if you are lucky you will be asked to take on suicidal missions also! ;):D
Leave alone the low levels, this game has became so much farm-frenzy that it never have been before, there is no such thing as mass pvp anymore, it just doesnt exist, tops you may get is a 7v7 fight here and there, that's it.
Don't even mention Anthars or Valakas, by the time you have the level/gear to challange their GoD version, you`ll surely miss the numbers for it, so ya L2 = PvE all day.
yeah so I killed someone who was ksing me, my name turned red, got killed, now I have -700 reputation. so now I have to kill 700 mobs? while not gaining any xp? and everyone is free to attack me? and i lose XP when I die?

pvp in this game is a joke.
You sound very disappointed, but I can assure you that "KS" is a term I learned after GoD came - and I have been playing offi for the past 6+ years... The PvP system is not wrong, what is wrong is the TRULY FREE (actually truly idiotic) idea of NC. Overcrowding does that. And the penalty is fine, because you should actually ASK for pvp, not start one with players who do not want to pvp you. Some ppl just don't want to do it. No matter how you call them - farmer, cycler, newb, etc, etc, they have the right to choose to either pvp you or not. So if you do not respect their choice, you must be punished, and I do not see anything abnormal in this logic. After all, pvp IS and SHOULD BE a voluntary action for both sides.
So, in short, the problem is not in pvp system at ANY level. It is in the REST OF GAME (here is where NC should get the hidden meaning!)...
yeah so I killed someone who was ksing me, my name turned red, got killed, now I have -700 reputation. so now I have to kill 700 mobs? while not gaining any xp? and everyone is free to attack me? and i lose XP when I die?

GG. You got your first pk... if you are below lvl 52 is faster to make a new char... read the rules before killing ppl around :)).

These guys just overrate newbies knowledge of the game. No newb reachs 85 in 3 weeks, unless helped.
You are wrong.
When I started I was new to L2. It took me 2-3 weeks in total to hit lvl 85. (Though I was slowed down a bit due to not having help, no iss box, no mentor till 76, and clan war.)
Just depends on "how much time" someone can put into the leveling.
Though to be fair, I did choose an archer. So I didn't have to run mob to mob, just sit and auto attack, or party with randoms.
On topic:
If worried there is no pvp, level quickly to 85, and smack someone.
Otherwise flag a few people around the level you are and pick a fight.

Dude, you are really having a rough time at this Official Server run. First you complain that there is no PvP, then you complain because you can't use your gear because of Grade penalties, then you complain about how you can't make money, and finally you complain about your first PK. Take everyone's advice and read the rules of the game or move on to another game or server.
And if you are an experienced L2 player, you should be laughing at the fact that NCSoft changed the game to spoon feed you the gear and the levels to awakening. They even give you free R Grade gear and shots when you reach 86, with or without a mentor. As for the harsh post, sometime you have to be harsh to get through to the stupid people.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy playing this game. It's just that there is not much information about this game. No where does it says on the offical site that I'll get -700 reputation for killing someone and that it will take hours to get it back to zero. There is also no info that you will get grade penalty for wearing higher level equipment on the Path to Awakening part of the site.
I'm just posting this questions because I can't find the information anywhere else.

Try google
Try the search function
And if you still can't figure it out you may dare to ask on the forums
1. Be an agro like me and don't give a **** about what level and who is
2. Carry CP pots and BSOE
3. Flag as much as you want
I don't really care when someone tells me to leave or that his "main" will pk me, i just go straight to griefing. When I see someone awakened and i am flagged, I don't even run away but agro at the awakened, most of the times they end up dying or bsoing. Oh btw i am only lvl 82 ST.
PvP is truly a joke pre-awakened. Everyone and their mother has a mentor who will teleport to them as soon as you beat them fair and square...or not fair and square. Either way, you can count on some newblet wasting his mentor's time.
i was exping in fod and after 10 min, some1 try to ksing my mobs, he was attack me to :D and i switch to main iss and kill it :D was fun, but sadly he not come back :D, no need to search char for pvp, he will come to you :D
