To this day, I STILL have coins from the letter collectors gift from last year. Why this year are you putting a time limit on them? I hope you look into this and change this.
You should learn to read carefully... Your guaranteed rewards will be removed (Letter Collector’s Gift - you get buffs on use) not your dyes/rings.

Pavel Ruins on your SH, if you are after the event items. AoE them if you can (you probably will with a mysterious magic herb). But expect the place to be crowded.
Not sure if Kartia drops the event items, but must probably it does. So, a solo one per day on your ISS might be good too.

What server is that? There are "prime times" (6pm to 12pm server time, iirc) when event items have a good drop chance, and the drop chance is nerfed outside the "prime time" window.
Also, try single-targetting and check if the drop rates increase. Some ppl reported that AoE attack may lower the event item drop chances.
(besides, the drop rates during recent NCsoft events sucked anyway)

I posted this answer in the maintenance thread as well:
The Letter Collector's Gift (8th Anniversary) and the Letter Collector's Gift from the 7th anniversary are not the same item. The items have different stats and is a different color in your inventory. The only one being removed on June 6, 2012 is any remaining Letter Collector's Gift (8th Anniversary); all others (7th Anniversary) remain in the game.
The reason for this is that anniversary items are meant to be used during the anniversary time frame, and although the 7th Anniversary item was an exception to this rule, all seasonal items are encouraged to be used up when the celebration is over.
The Letter Collector's Gift (8th Anniversary) is the only reward item being removed from the game at a later date. All other rewards remain in the game.
Doom Heavy REALLY looks AWESOME alongside with the Zaken cape, it's even seems they look like to be together after all.

Dont bash on the dwarfs! But i know what you mean. Totally a good idea to keep the servers from getting a huge influx of bots, but then it would suck for the lowbies :( even though its not that hard to get to 40 :D

For the Blessed Scroll, you first need to have a standard weapon and talk to the Blacksmith of Mammon. Select "Change bound items" from the NPC menu and then you will have a window prompt that allows you to upgrade the weapon from standard to blessed. Bound weapons will NOT work.
Standard weapons that have SA or enchantments can be converted to Blessed without any loss. If the weapon is augmented, you need to remove it first or else you will have no option to upgrade to Blessed.

What? I dropped a good number of letters and got the first word in one hour of levelling on subclass.
The only thing that i hate is that Kartia drops letters. It's pretty much maxed since the downtime.
Too many nubs around that farm Kartia solo/group and leave at the boss to get letters.
(While there are better tactics to farm letters)

Coincidence or not, but I've just logged in and found out the lag is abnormal.
It takes seconds to talk to a npc, move items from inventory or summon a pet. Usually it indicates there's something wrong on the server's side (like npc server or items server misfunctioning). And it reminds me of the same issues during recent events.
do CTRL ALT DEL and check if PMB.exe is running as that's what is used to update the game and if so just remove it by end process and voila lags resolved..
When I feel it's laggy I always check my ping and traceroute the server. This time, all pings and packet loss figures are within normal frames. However, the lag atm is unplayable: sometimes it takes 5+ sec to target a mob, sometimes there are 1-minute-long lag spikes, sometimes it takes ages to pick up an item, sometimes shots stop working. It's exactly the same symptoms we've had during previous events.
I guess it has something to do with server capabilities. I guess some players are having lag-related problems atm while some others are not, because the server processes their requests in time.
Of course, NCsoft won't expect this issue to occur (every time it's like the first time ever) and once again it will take them quite some time "to investigate".
Yes, the letters drop at a nice rate at prime time. If your play schedule is not in those hours you are screwed....but why ?? Why NCSoft why ??? Sace enlighten us...Not everyone plays on prime time. Do this people don't deserve to participate in the event ?

I got 7 WORDS (2 pots, 2 scroll boxes, 1 accessory scroll, 1 Gem S, 1 Gem R) on my first 2 hours (prime time). 3 LETTERS total in my second 2 hours set (non prime). So yes, if you don't hunt in prime hours, you won't get to enjoy the event, which in my opinion is not right, but well...

I say what I'm writing! because my timing to sleep is not always the same and sometimes I play since 3-4 AM and at 6 AM drop rate for event items shut down! I don't know if spoil and normal drops change too, I didnt pay attention but for events it changes! So today I slept a bit after lunch to play all night (because tomorrow I don't work). :cool: all players who play since 6 years ago know this! US day timing is the best. BTW I'm at NAIA.

Please remember that a player's perception of this will lead to a different interpretation and experience of "prime time drop rates." Depending on your server and its current population, you may not see any difference at all.
A counter argument is that, if the drop rate is the same 24/7 but there are significantly more players at one time of date than the other, the drop rate will seem to be lessened because it is distributed across more players. Unfortunately the drop rate can't be customized to everyone's schedule. Try it out a bit longer and see that the letters keep dropping no matter what time it is.

sure 2-3x drop rate begins around 18 GTM 0 so you have a very good rate always! Try to play in the morning! I did the swamplan daily quest with 2 chars this morning I got 2 letters not 2 words!!!!!!!!!!

Back in April 2011 on High Five, we had a similar event and i didn't study the same time i do today. And i used to hunt during that time cuz of some friends said it was prime time, and drop rate is really better at this time. Now it makes sense, Sace said, so it's not only my friend's tips or my mind...it is what it is, maybe u didn't have luck, try again n u should note the higher drop rate.

Sace I'm so sorry but in the morning there are less players at NAIA than in the evening (young players sleep until late in the morning, they like to play during night). I have observed this issue since years ago! My sleep timing is variable so I play at different hours. 2 letters this morning in 1 hour! Is not the first time I sleep after lunch if I can, to play events all night and surprise surprise drop rate shut down suddenly around 6 AM GTM 0! Please verify this problem with you technical staff or... I don't know if you can, GMs can't play... try with your char

I'm sorry you can't play during prime time, but that's not really a good reason to jump on me because I said that I have quite good drops.
And I even spent the afternoon hunting in a duo party... Guess what, we both dropped quite a good number of letters.

These days i had lots of free time and i was practically online a lot so for about 7 hours now the drop rate is decreased.
This was not done after emergency maintainance cause i played for a bout 4 hours after that and drop rate for letters was descent.
Now for about 6-7 hours drop rate sucks.
Guess i have to get used to ninja changes.

Hi guys, I've got a question. One of the items you get during this event is Letter Collector's Gift which gives you some nice stats as well as a 'nostalgic' appearance. Usually this means making your char look like it's wearing B grade and I love the way it looks. However, when I logged to my main, I've noticed that I can't really recognize the dual daggers she's wearing. I know how low grade daggers look like and I would've recognized if that was one of them, so I figured - maybe it's one of the S80 items? I've been having a longish break from L2 at the time S80 stuff was used (I mean all the fancy Moirai things), so I don't really know how they look like. They are the r99 dual daggers. There are no B grade dual daggers and its easier to just reuse a different texture.

The letters drop more during prime time. You either don't play during prime time, or you kill veeeeery slowly.

drop rate is good (and not only for letters but for normal drops and spoil) between 20:00 and 00:00 GTM 0 after it shuts down to 1/3 or less!!! only some players have always good drop rate. This is unfair.
