Nico and Sace thanks a lot this interview! I hope we will see same kind of live stream interview often in the future!
I did really like it:)!
As I saw Nico got some stage fright, but Sace did talk very well! I did really like, that you did talk openly about the Item Store and bot question. Another companies wouldn't talk about it in same form fore sure!
Hehe, was funny when at Garrett the kid or the cat started cry:D
Thanks for watching! :) We don't have set plans for our next livestream interview, but we do intend to use this method more often moving forward whenever there's something big to talk about, like our anniversary.
Reading the facial expressions in regards to the questions was a lot more entertaining than the actual info itself. The tightened jaw, reassuring nods, crossed arms(hands) in regards to the Power Shirts, down turned mouth. Sace you reveal so much of what you are actually thinking :D
Graet job with the interview. Those kind of actions will help you straighten the links between the staff and the players :)
I am glad you answered my questions, I hope they were not too hard for a start. I am happy to see that the Truly Free economic model is a great success, and therefore it could bring good days for Lineage II as NCSoft got more ressources from the game it's more likely to be continue to be developped and produced here in NA/EU :)
As Nico said, most of member of the current NCWest Lineage II team (Nico and Morgan as you said it yourselves, but also Juji, Sparse, Pommo) are experienced Lineage II players since many years, with great knowledge about the game (Sparse I still want this knowledge duel in case you are reading me :P). Why don't you plan a GM Even during the Tauti Launch where you could for example do a GM Team leading a raid on the new upcoming boss : Tauti on the PTS server ? Such an event has incredible effect on players and advertising, most of them will be really happy to see you working on the link between players and staff, and it can made a very good promotional video too! I hope this suggestion will be taken in consideration and not directly put into graveyard ^^
To conclude, Nico and Morgains you do a really good job with this interview. Nico, you had some difficulties during the interview but overall you did a good job, and I am sure you will perfectly fit into the Producer role. Don't let the position take you, take the position instead ! Yo could be a great producer and you should know it. Morgan, you are the feminine model of the game and as Community Manager you do a really good time manager this "unique community" as you said ;) You both have great knowledge about the game (How long working with NCSoft both of you ? Almost as long as the game is here !) and I am confident you are seeking the best balane between the ingame and the out of game (revenue)
Great Job !
Ptitlaby (and yup sorry for you Garrett but Morgan got the right pronunciation)
PS : **** I wrote a long post but the forum logged me off >< I did a shorter post so
It was nice hearing from you two in real time. Good to know that you are putting some effort into trying new things with untested business model. For a while we were under the impression that everything that goes on in NCNA in regards to L2 was based on orders passed down from NCKorea but it's pretty reassuring to know that there are things you can do on your own to better suit the community here.
I have to say though... about the discussion of events related to the store... I was curious about one aspect of the valentines event and was hoping I'd get an answer from the video which I did not.
Now... I do understand why you put certain low probability items in the store to help add a little pizazz to a given event... but I have to wonder....
You told us what the highest power shirt were and how many of them existed and most of us are aware of the sheer amount of attempts from the community.... but I've seen no word of ANYONE getting permanent boss Jewels from the valentine's cakes event. I won't go as far as to ask how many were attempted but did we get any permanent jewels out of this? I know I myself made something to the order of 40 cakes and didn't get a single one farther than the second stage (though I was willing to spend quite a bit of ncoin on the event...) but with all of the successful procing that it took to even make a perfect cake I'd like to know if even a single person walked away with a permanent boss jewel.
Here the basement is just that, the base, where the house stand on top of..
No basement, no house
Americans are just silly as it wouldnt cost you more to build a house the proper way..
Depends on where you live. The U.S. is a big country. When I lived in Nebraska, most of the houses had basements. Then again, that is tornado alley. Here is Idaho, not a lot of houses have them. Just a few feet below the surface in a lot of places here is volcanic rock. It's just not worth dynamiting through to dig a basement. Nevertheless, my parents house has a basement, mine does not. They live very near me.
Yea..for example..flats/apartments often have shared space Garage(park garage) beneath the buildings, there is no basement that one can "relax" in. Some people think that is a box tho :/
Nico you have a french accent, but I guess ur canadian french?
Anyway the only real issue I have is that the game lags so much since the movement to the USA. It gets worse, nowadays it lags even with bp. Without bp I wont be able to play at all. I really think you have to look into that more seriously, especially why it is getting worse.
Bots on the level L2 has experienced them does not signal success. It signals massive design holes and failures that have yet to be addressed in the game.
If everything wasn't Tradeable (for the most part), RMT wouldn't be so big. RMT exists even in dead games, as do bots. You can buy +12 weapons from an RMT site in L2. You can't buy Legendaries or Epics from an RMT site in WoW or EQ2. Can buy top gear and epics in L2 from an RMT site. You can't buy raid gear in those other games, either... Those games don't make you spend literally weeks worths of cumulative playtime getting to max level, so there is less reason to bot there. This game does. That's cause they had decent content at end-game, L2 doesn't.
The reason the bots are bad is cause the game has an old-style MMORPG design (similar to EQ at or shortly after release when it was called EverGrind and everything was tradeable, and everyone was eBaying 100k for a Fast Horse in Shadows of Luclin expansion ugh...) which makes botting lucrative. With the F2P model it's even worse because a botter literally loses nothing if they get banned (no GTC, no money from buying the game code, etc.). Just can just run infinite (as many as their equipment can support) bot groups until they get to the level they're looking for.
These people are clueless if they think the bots are telling them they're doing something right, as is Garrett Fuller (who should know better). They're run most of the decent legit players from this game.
Also, it's pretty obvious even the producer has absolutely no clue what the Dev team is doing or planning on doing. They talked about keeping the Awakening skills and didn't even touch on the balance implications of people who kept old skills vs. those who didn't. And with currect reflect mechanics not sure how they can call PvP "fairly balanced," cause it's not.
You commented on Martelx by implying he lives in a basement.
That is usually a comment from ppl obsessed with someone doing better than them, on an alternate forum for L2.
As for now, maybe cool down on flaming him, and we wont have to report you, mkay?
The world doesn't need Yuna to tell them martelx is a bot. Martelx has already told everyone himself. Even in his own videos he's obviously using PvP programs. You don't need to be obsessed to state a well-known fact. Why are you in denial, and why do you think MartelX botting to 99 makes anyone here jealous? They can bot if they wanted, they just chose not to.
Someone with a disclaimer as their signature threatening to report someone is a bit hillarious, don't you think? How many infractions have you racked up so far?
The best way to not have MartelX bought up in every thread is for you to shut up and stop mentioning him by name. If you don't like what someone says, do what your signature says. Don't reply to it and troll the other person for an argument.

I don't understand why he gets so worked up either. We like to mock, and the player himself doesn't care and openly mocks himself, so why should a person that has no conection to him be sooooo upset about what others say.

Please get off my nuts Trensh.
You are by far the most ill informed person on this forum atm. Maybe calm down and think things through before posting?
And if you like World of Warcraft raiding so much, what are you doing here?
If MartelX had botted, his enemies would have been reporting him since way back. He isnt banned, what does that tell you?
Forum rules state you arent allowed to flame or accuse others of botting, hence why I warned Yunalesca of what her actions might lead to.
As for my infractions, I'm still at an all time low.

Why are we speaking about his awsomeness martel? I watched almost the whole interview (sorry 2 cups of coffee was not enough) and I didnt hear anything about martel. Someone has a youtube time?
They had a representative of the new player community us seen it? (the screaming baby in the end) :D

+1 about this.
I trolling 90% of mine posts only for fun.
If i'm not looking for trolling post, this post could be mine.
That... that didn't sound all that excited. But on a more serious note, between the mediocre sound quality and his accent Mr. Coutant is really, really hard to understand, is there a possibility to have transscripts or subtitles in the future? Or just put the microphone in front of them and TAPE THEIR HEADS TO IT. Subtitles would already be an improvement if you don't have the tape.
I just can't bring myself to watch it in full as I can only understand half of what he says. Not a native english speaker myself, so maybe that's an issue, but it's really hard for me to try and decypher his french accented mumbles :|

I had huge issues understanding him as well, and spent most of my time fast forwarding and rewinding looking for "relevant" questions and answers. I probably watched 20% of the interview, if it could even be called that seeing as how it seemed more like an Advertisement than anything from my perspective.
THe only interviews worth watching are those from the Korean Devs. The people running NCWest basically do almost nothing on their own, anyways, so who cares what they have to say?
Yeah, I'm about halfway through now, and it does seem like a commercial. Whatever the answers to the player questions, MMORPG guy never pokes around, never asks follow-up questions. He actually BELIEVES them when they say they're working on better anti-bot things. Seriously, after 8 years of mis-managing this issue NC gets no more up-front trust from me concerning this, and I'm sure a huge chunk of the playerbase feels the same, yet this guy lets this stand with no critical follow up like "oh, have you increased your staff for anti-bot work perhaps?" or "have you new tools at your disposal maybe?" Nothing. I know that NC can't talk about specifics, but a little more than "working on it, you'll be amazed about how awesome it'll be.... soon." would be nice.
And since the NC guys basically says the same thing for whatever answer he receives it essentially boils down to:
MMORPG guy: "[insert question here]?"
Nico: "mumble mumble mumble"
Sace: "Yeah we're very excited about [insert topic here], we can't say much about it here, but it's something we're working on!"
MMORPG guy: "I see, cool cool. Yeah we're also excited."
Oh well, they had no obligation to do this so nothing was lost... still feels like a wasted opportunity.
