Has anyone else noticed that since the new auction house system it's been full of scams... Ever since they changed it to tax after you sell it, the auction house has been full of people overpricing everything and anything possible. I think they should change it back to the way it was but add more options on how many days you want it up. The way it used to be at least you won't see people trying to scam because of the tax as soon as you put it up, but now it's a scammer's paradise. I haven't fallen one one of these yet but I'm sure people have.

In another thread I made a post about the auction house. I don't agree with the the free of auction house going back to previous, instead it should be made into a "real" auction house were people bid on the item. There is not bid if a price is set in stone. If that happened scams would be less likely to happen, for the number bet on the item in question would by the players trying to get the item...

And that issue is people having to wait to purchase shots until the auction ended. We have a function like that through the item broker. You're just going to have to know the going prices of things and do a little math to make sure you aren't getting cheated. It's just easier not to pay attention at the AH and rage click in a rush and get scammed

True but it's why the rare items are often sold in private shops rather than in the "joke auction house" because a person can see a private seller and mail them or pm them negotiate a real price if they choose and swindle slight lower price seen fit.. Also there is no fee in the first place.
The only time I pay the full price on something is if it's a steal from the start. I love negotiation, and in this game it makes sense to try where items are starting to creep to billions of adena. I have made billions of adena doing so through the years, buying low and selling high.
I still remember talking a person down +9 c pole from 40kk and bought it for 5kk. Some people just want to sell items and if you have no clue what is going on in the games economy you can miss some real opportunities. A suggestion for new players is learn prices as much as possible you never know when you will find a steal, and with the current reduction in rewards new players need any edge they can get with accumulated adena. Paying attention is important but knowledge is power.
A side note, I also find humor in the names of the npcs. The auction house is named auction house (of course) and there is no auction, just item sold for this price a player ask.The item broken is named item broker where people actual bid on the item. The names don't fit each other. I guess the names are not important nevertheless. Although, it makes sense they should fit what they are intended to do.

yes I totally get that fact about not being able to mail the sellers of items. People whined about afk sell shops in Giran before GoD hit. People wanted the ability to offline sell so the AH was added. Unless there's a feature to see who the sellers are in the AH you've lost that ability to haggle on items or offer trades. Would be great if you could mail sellers in the AH. Sometimes I got to wonder why someone on magmeld thinks they are going to get 300 million for a Freya cloak, but there it is week after week. It's mind boggling O.o
The best you could do is set up a buy shop at the price you want to pay for shots or materials to craft. With weapons or higher end things you're kind of screwed. There's no bargaining system anymore. Most likely will have to wait out prices or buck up and pay.
