IN L2: 1 main class/subs, 1 boxed buffer and 1 crafter to make money.
IN WoW: Almost all classes, I just don't like monks because I don't like to hit only with hands-feet, I prefer a Warrior, Paladin or Death knight with a big 2H sword-blund or dual(frost death knight and fury warrior can use duals).
EDIT: Diablo 3: the same as WoW, I don't like monk due to the same reason.
Well, I'm new and i was wondering what race/class my second character should be in order to make money. Any suggestions? (My main is a lvl 38 Knight btw)
I would suggest you take the "buffer" way and lvl up a WC -> Iss Enchanter. If you are bored, you can sit him in some lvling areas and sell buffs per adena.

Nobody can survive without a boxed buffer, so you must have a buffer, just level a Warcrier or overlord along with your main char, because after 86 you will lose mentor buffs.

Won't it be enough to just have a buffer in my clan/party/alliance..?

Not really. There are times you're going to want buffs to do a solo instance or having to grind by yourself, and it's very useful to have your own buffer for that. Take a clan one when you can, but you definitely want your own too. This game is really buff dependent.
I play just my main. I have an 87 or 88 healer for when I need rez, but I prefer to stick to 1 toon. It really just depends on what you are looking to do in game. If you just want to casually play then you might enjoy an assortment of toons. If you want to compete in high level pvp or Olympiad, you should just work on your main (and get your subs done too of course).
