It's been six months since Goddess of Destruction was released here in the West. This poll is to see if people's play time has changed since the update.
I play the same amount, cuz I dont have much time to play...
I only back to L2 cuz it became F2P and I aways wanted to play official server, but I wish had known official in C4-C6 times :/
Slightly less than before... hard to get live groups these days with "automation" ruling the lands. I don't think the GoD update is the issue, I blame the players acceptance of 3rd party tools as the solution to achieving their goals.
If the ban hammer ever falls again I predict 80% casualties to the awaken characters. Granted, I don't see a ban hammer dropping anytime soon... well until right before the next update if history is an indicator.
Now we are limited to a few hunting grounds.
Forming a party is a pain in the butt because a tank is needed for every little thing.
Vitality got turned into NCSofts ATM.
Overall, people don't know WTF their role is:
*Buffers swear they don't have to melee or reduce Patt/Pdef, but sit back and heal from afar.
*Summoners don't recharge.
*Healers don't want to recharge either.
*People don't turn their Forces on because they either don't know what it is or rage/quit party if you tell them to turn them on more than twice.
*Buffers don't know which harmony goes to which class, if you try to correct them, they rage/quit party.
*If you DO get a tank, they either don't use aggro or tell other people to pull the mobs to them.
*Summoners want to use Panthers for AoE and Wraiths for single-target melee.
*Rogues don't run when they get aggro. They blame the healer because they died tanking a boss.
*Warriors don't let the tanks get the aggro. If you tell them to wait for the tank, they tell you to STHU.
*People don't put element on their armors whatsoever. If they die, it's the healers fault.

Players that don't know which harmony they should be using.
Players that continually ask for different harmonies.
Players who are undergeared getting mad when you give them Knights. So you give them Warriors and they keep dying and expectt you to immediately rebuff.
Players that don't even know the name of the harmony they want.
for all the reasons that have been mentioned plus since Gog went live we didnt become only slow to gather but also slow to move because we dc on pr,have black screens on teleports ect.

I usually ask before I give any out, and even then, some people get peeved. People are too intense in this game. :(
IF shortly before God, well then i play around the same. But some months before GoD i played way more.
Wasn't something special to xp 4hours ++++ after the work in DV, GC etc.
Now i mostly do the Kartia's and 1 or max 2 hours random xping.
I miss the pre GoD xp Style incl. the war system.
There you had atleast some pvp during xping. Now you barely face wartags (unless you war TOP Clans) or randoms xping outside Kartia which mostly won't even flag back.
Hell 2 days ago i went to Bista just for fun and only 1 Party was xping there, rest been empty

Get one Cp. Yesterday I did soa without my cp, results, I got one feoh who did not like to pick up mana pots on the floor -.-' but only this, I dont have one list of issues like this guy ._.
Much less than before. Mainly because all there is to do these days is daily quests. I liked the good old days of constant parties, logging on after work and playing for 4h+ while having fun in vent. But people quit, so that's gone, and like someone said above for any good xp or daily raids you need a decent party with a tank, and that's hard to find.
Before GoD, it was possible to go to "full party" xp spots even without a tank, or without a cardinal, or maybe with a SD or two filling up a free DD spot. That's gone now, it's either full perfect party or go solo xp. That's why many people log on, try to get something going, fail, do their daily solo stuff and log off again. After a couple weeks of doing this, many just give up (now that you do not have to pay for this game, it's also easier to just quit, because you do not "waste money" by not logging on). I'm seeing this left and right, people not even leaving clan to try out something else, but they are just bored with the game and outright quit or log on less and less until some day you notice they have not been in game for over a month.
So what I'm doing these days is log on, do one or two solo kartia, maybe lvl an alt a bit via daily quests, and if during this time no chance at a longer xp party or a party raid opens up, I just log off and go do something else. I guess I could try getting a constant party somehow, but that probably would involve joining one of the clans I do not want to join for various reasons. And they probably would not take me anyway, since I am not 95+ yet :)
It would seem that the number of players is dropping, as the towns are far less crowded. once you get above 75 it is impossible to play without a mentor, and if they have difficulties staying logged, you can't play. that is the issue i am having, so i am playing a little less, if I can't get get some generous soull to buff me. Joining aq clan didn't help much as they aren't always on either, or at least not when I am.

No... Im talking about buffers who give the healer (me) warrior harmony, wizard to the tanks and knight for the nuker....
No... Im talking about buffers who give the healer (me) warrior harmony, wizard to the tanks and knight for the nuker....
Oh, I freely admit that I've mis-clicked a buff or two in my time. However, I have people ask for the wrong buff then get mad at me for giving it to them. I don't presume to tell people how to play their class so when an archer, for example, asks for wiz, I say, "meh" and give it to them. Then they're all "wtf, why do I have wiz, stupid Iss!"
Should have added another option "Do not play here anymore", but since there is no such selection I chose Less.
These servers have lost their appeal and are quite boring, but then again I started losing interest when Kamael was released as the game started becoming easier to level.
Well I did quit fora few months before GOD launch (personal reasons, not to do with the game), but I am comparing my play time now with my play time before i took a break.
Reason? New party set up and the rat-race to 99.
Everyone wants to get to a high level and be epic, that is why we play Lineage 2. With the new GOD party set up, to do anything efficient you need at the very least a Tank, Healer, Iss, rogue or archer, and the rest of the 3 slots are variables. The problem is that 90% of the player play those "variable" classes, and getting a perfect party together is like pulling teeth. It got to the point that people prefer to "play" with their automated parties than try to even attempt to get something going with people. Because gathering 6 other players up, ensuring they play the classes needed, and finally playing for 1 or 2 hours until someone suddenly leaves, just seems like a waste of time.
The result is, most of the people just leech their bot trains until they are approached to help with something, but god forbid, this something will take more then 1 hour of them actually playing the character.
We were taken away the flexibility of the party, even tough it may seem that with the class consolidation it should be the opposite effect. But before if we were missing support people would just box a WC, a SWS or whatever else.
This alone made the leveling and the process to actually START playing a lot more tedious then pre-GOD.
less, but before god I dont play in the oficial servers.
The reason is simple, without vitality is a pwn in the *** to lvl up after awake, so, if you go to do soa with vitality, is a uneccesary lost of resources to lvl up (is better to keep for kartia and when the vitality fall to 0 go to another place to lvl up),
And I think that im not the only one with that idea of play, you can see that, from wednesday to friday there is much more less party for soa/gog/fairy.
I have the lucky to get an a constant tank and a constant healer for kartia, the rest of the people is most from clan or ally.
So, i have the best resource to lvl up.
We have a little problem in my clan, me and some players are 85-90 and the rest 90+ with twi, so, they have clan war, but, if we try to make some wars, there is no chance. So, we dont do war, not only because for shure we will lost exp/time, but because we can make that our caln loose the war (another bad idea from ncsoft).
The diference between lvl 86-89 and 92+ is tooo **** high, even if you have a full party. So, if you go to lvl up with ppl of your range, to open places, you for shure loose exp with wars. And, like after god you can go to lvl zones more than 3 lvl of you, you cant lvl up with high clan mates. (another mistake of ncsoft, what is the point of enter a clan, if the ppl cant help you to lvl up?).
About the randoms iss, is like any other class. The problem is that the buffer is a key part of the group. If they fail in his fuction, all the party have a high chance of fail. The same for the healer.
In this game, allways was ppl who play good, ppl who cant play the game and ppl who think that they know everything but they sucks.
The other problem is that, all enchanter that I see around, think that the are semi-dd, and that is a fail, the iss is a suport class, they can do dmg yes, they can kill ppl yes, but the way that they kill is by wear the target and not by just spam skills.
I see a lot of iss with apo dual sword/blunt but with the immortal set, when the fact is that the correct will be twy and requiem dual.
So, before 90, I think that we have limited to do:
Kartia party.
Kartia solo (maybe 2 times per day if you buy the extra pass)
Zaken/freya/tezza
harnak (who dont have daily quest)
soa (when i can make a party, who want to go there and make war).
swampland (only for the daily, and sell pwlvl cuz the exp there suck).
Well I do play much more as I did play before the GD.
I really enjoy the Goddess of Destruction update. I do like almost every part of it.
As I do play much more actively, I got a lots of stuffs what was just dream for me before.
I guess the Goddess of Destruction was a really good idea, but might be the game at 85+ a little linear as it was before.
Now an average player between 85-89 go make SoA, Swamp, Mithril Mines daily quests a Kartia Solo and Kartia Group and maybe a Teredor, Zaken, Freya or Frint after he logout.
If we watch how many places we had to xping between 80-84 we find totally about 15 different places if not 20, while between 85-89 only exist 3-4 areas. What are often crowded and make the leveling a little slow and boring.
Between 90-94 we have more places to questing/xping/bossing, but much harder soloing on this level group.
95-99 this is where all area available to us the Seal of Shilen is a good XP spot also a really nostalgic too, there you have really Lineage 2 feeling.
Orbis temple for the parties again just an excellent place it has excellent design remind me to Pagan temple.
Yes what is the currently biggest problem of the Lineage 2 that play in solo or play in full party. While in our region was mainly popular the 2-5 members small/middle party style.
But after the Tauti and Glory Days the problem get solve in both update will be places to the middle and small parties, but right only after 90+.
I just can say, that the Tauti and Glory Days (and the update follow them) really focused to take back the old Lineage 2 feeling and role play and also extend them with a lots of really funny features.
So guys I guess enjoy out the summer, because if by my calculation the Glory Days arrive here at September the Nerd times start again for everyone who really love or loved the Lineage 2:)
I guess this reaction is abnormal. I can't understand why some peoples CAN'T agree if some peoples feel GOOD themselves in the currently Lineage 2 update.
I did like really the old ones but I do like same the currently one too. All of them had bad contents and good contents too.
So I think if you can't enjoy it better if you quit and return later. Because just, that flame the game and a more-less provoke the players with this actions really not good thing.
Im not flaming, the community, both korean and western deemed GoD a failure. It's a fact, not an opinion.
I guess I missed the meeting where this was decided.
In Korea the situation has grown so serious that Lineage 2 Business Team Leader Kim Jin-a put together an Extraordinary Countermeasures Commission (비상대책위원회 resp. 非常对策委员会) which is actively seeking out the players in the internet cafes of Seoul, discussing with them and trying to find out what they really want: http://www.inven.co.kr/board/powerbbs.php?come_idx=390&l=960

L1 owns L2 in korea, I think it is because L1 is more flexible for solo and party gaming, there isn't a "key class" in L1(such as tanks, healers ou enchanters in L2), all classes in L1 can be playable in solo and in party, there is no need for a specifc class like in L2(if no tank= no xp, if no iss = no xp, if no healer = no xp).
As I said, this paradigm in L1 makes all parties more flexible, so if you think a player in your party is a noob, you can kick him and search for any other player without worrying about what class he is, unlike L2.
This paradigm of L1, in my opinion, makes this game strong in korea until today, and the devs of Lineage Eternal want to improve this concept even more, with a 100% action based MMO, where all classes(6 classes planned) are equal for both solo and party. This paradigm will domain the market because nobody wants to wait too much for a specifc class, therefore, any class is suitable for a slot in any party. GW2 will be a success because of this, even WoW players hate when a healer is noob and all party dies because of him, and many of them look at GW2 and its "action" concept,
In my opinion GoD update transformed l2 Oficcial server into a private server of mid rates (25x-50x). Before GoD launch i played in diferent privates servers [50x, 20x, 5x, 100x and 500x]. Really, much of the things now they are very similar with some private servers I played. Here there are some reasons why:
-Before almost all of the places of the game where exploited, now people are only going to some places like "Bloody Swampland", "Talking Isle Village", "Aden", "Magmeld" (for high lvl once), etc.
-Cities & Villages... well here there is a list of some cities that are useless:
*Elven Village
*Orc Village
*Dion
*Gludin
*Dwarven Village
*AND MORE...
-The other day i wanted to do an Iss Enchanter for my pj and while lvling it i discovered "the failure of the fault" that have all private servers. Now that passed a log time since GoD launched almost all of the people is Awaeking and many Newbie places are a dessert and very boring to lvl. Few months ago when GoD was newer there was more activity in this places.
-Another thing is that 1st, 2nd and 3rd class characters are very useless. Up to lvl 85 the only thing you can do is to lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl and lvl. Before you can enjoyed PVP at low lvl.
Well this are some things that are wrong with the GoD update and makes the "Oficial Server" into a private server
(Devianne 2005) Hi all Greetings, hope you all good and alive :-) , i deleted all toons in five accounts , cant stand the game anymore.
Advise to old players out there..
NC changed Soul professions , many people are in denial trying to play and they dont feel like it , i was since awakened , got some time going on but i cant anymore. Elem MAster with some uggly pets making devillian noises around me , not anymore.
free servers are good to play now , so Stay well and carefull with the NC Soul messings....
I agree that they gimped the open feel of the game, I miss that quite a bit.
They greatly improved the classes, even if they sacrificed what made everyone else unique. Made it more a party based game which I enjoy(I rarely do Kartia solo because it is BORING). They got lazy with the classes, especially kamael classes. I find summoner and tank classes to be far more involved than they used to be. Some classes are more boring than what they were previously.
Daily instances are too plentiful, people just sit down all day and wait for instances. Its much more difficult to find a decent grinding group at random times of the day without a constant party which most can't dedicate to.
Grinding is still superior, in between dailys you can double or triple your take on the day.
Gear, ALL GEAR. Has been made in such a way that everyone can hope to have it some day. Long gone are the days of clan leader, and his close friends getting EVERYTHING. Some people complain, but gear is like leveling up. There is a bit of a grind but its feasible within normal boundries. Huge improvement over prior chronicles even if some are total cry babies.
People on a whole suck much more, for example going to repti at level 85 with no elemental resists. A good portion of F2P players care less about their avatar~
People hit lvl 85/86, then make kartia solo+group and get around 12-15% in 50min, why the hell they would make/join parties to get 1-2% per hour (if you get a good party)? It's better to log out and wait for another day.
It's not about party setup, just doesn't worth lvling in group anymore, unless you have some cool BOT party.
Im not flaming, the community, both korean and western deemed GoD a failure. It's a fact, not an opinion.
No it isn't failure. It didn't take the really success what the NCsoft wait from it until, but totally it isn't a failure too. I explain you why:
Mostly 3 statistics makes about the MMORPGS:
1. Number of active accounts (so an account is active if it was use to game at least once in a month).
2. Financially (this is the most important for the owner company).
3. Played hours (so how many hours the players spend in the game).
So:
1. The first result is good at worldwide the L2 lured with the GD a lots of players to the game so this part is Successful.
2. Financially, in short term no question the GD was really successful everywhere, but in longer term it isn't so successful (thanks to the lots of causal stuffs).
3. Played hours. I do follow the Korean statistics and yes the Lineage 2 with the Harmony update release went up to 6th place while on the last weeks of Harmony update arrived to the 14th or 15th place, but the Tauti update stabilized the game much more to 10-12th place, while the Glory Days released the Lineage 2 became more hours played game as the Tera Online also the release of the Diablo 3 wasn't with effect to the position of the D3.
While the Koreans not really XP from now so this isn't boost their game times, we can say, that the Glory Days update really took to the game really interesting PvP features if it would take increased level cap too and bosses etc might be the Lineage 2 would get much better place too.
This statistic made by the all games in all category what the Korean players play not only MMORPGs.
But as we know in Korea the players mostly play after the played hours, what they spend out of town, nowadays, that almost everything is available from peaceful zone they not really leave the town. So easy can happen the thing, that the Korean servers are really crowded but the 90% of players are in the towns and play for free while the 10% out of town and pay for play.
So yes this isn't financially successful to NCsoft and they loose a lots of money thanks to this.
They not only need new contents to game and take back some old contents, but if they want a financially really successful game too they need remake their payment service in Korea.

I'm sure, that not this the reason.
The players who play MMORPG want play some Role Play too! If every class can do everything by itself it isn't Role Play than a Battlefield Bad Company 2 is a more RPG too than the L1 or GW2.
Those who plays MMO like to have unique character become to a unique person.
The 36 classes really made it, but was too hard to make a normal party. Now the 8 class from this viewpoint much better.
In the Lineage 2 the key class is the Buffer for the buffs, what u can box too. The healer and tank just need to the really hard bosses. At the XP parties or Kartia parties not necessary.
You see peoples this is what Destructor (the Korean player) told to us. That maybe you are Western players and they are Korean or Asian players, but "we play the same game".
The currently leader developers are from the C1-C5 times so these peoples know what they did than why the gamers loved the Lineage 2, while from the Hellbound we got a developer who might be was skilled developer but didn't know too much about the Lineage 2 and its players.
But now I guess we get the right persons who will able to lead the development of the Lineage 2!

Are you joking?
The characters in L1 and GW2 are more unique than L2's, in L1 you earn attribute points to distribute(like diablo 2) where you want (strength, dexterity, vitality, intelligence, charisma,...)each level after level 51 and also you are free to customize your set of skills. In Gw2 each class has a lot of different builds that makes its classes richer than L2's(that has no customization, all players of a same class have the same skills in the end, the same strategy, the same rotation, the only customizable stuff would be dyes, L2 is definitely poorer than L1-GW2 in terms of class customizaions-builds).

Well I didn't play with Lineage 1 and I won't play with GW2, so dunno how the things will go there.
One thing is sure, the Lineage 2 is and was quite successful at worldwide totally as financially as playerbase too and might be will successful too.
Currently the L2 has weaker period but all MMO has popular and less popular period which live so long time as the Lineage 2 or Lineage 1.
So both game totally good as it is.
You can't compare a GW2 to a WoW, L2 or L1 if the GW2 will so successful too under so many years, yes you can start compare it, but until the GW2 won't deserve it or any another game neither.
Nobody can't say currently how successful will be in long term a Lineage Eternal or Guild Wars 2 but might be won't be so successful in long term as their earlier series.
Peoples wait always wonder from every new MMO and after just see, that they are far not so good as they did imagine.
Many peoples says already, that the SWTOR already dead and as I see until the Tera Online didn't change the world too.
Diablo 3 was financially successful but it got really much negative critics mostly that it doesn't deserve its 60 dollars prices.
I never played with Lineage 1 but I know it is one of the best game on the market and will be one of the best game too. I do play Lineage 2 since 5 and half years and I know it is one of the best game on the market and will one of the best game too. Shortly this is my opinion.

The success of Eternal, mainly in korea, will depend on how devs will bring the same feeling that L1 has, I'm waiting for an intellingent way to promote variety among players of a same class, I liked how Diablo 3 did the customization of its classes, only the wizard, for example, has more than 100 different builds that you can make combining its skills-runes.
But be sure that GW2 will be a great success, at least, until the players get bored after experiencing all builds of all classes, each class has multiple builds that can make its players spend a lot of time changing and testing all of them.

I'm not against the success of GW2 or Lineage Eternal.
It is good for us too if the GW2 will financially successful cuz it is eating a lot from the L2 at least from now its marketing and development can work from its own money.
I know that in first time 100% sure that the GW2 will successful financially and playerbase statistically too.
I just think, that It won't be also finally the wonder game what the players wait. Mostly it isn't the problem of game it is problem of the users they wait too much from a game.
Also you never can know maybe will get same skill combination too in the one of upcoming update.
But I say, that the Lineage 2 has its own unique system and I like it as it is or it was.
If the Lineage 2 developers would copy everything the Lineage 2 wouldn't enough unique anymore.
They already gave to it too much stuffs what another games used too.
As you see the new development team will try to solve the problems what the older team made. We already can see, that nice things coming in the upcoming updates.
Also the huge problem, that peoples always post how the things goes in another games developers read it and think they want these to our game to and make them to the game.
Peoples at the Interlude times started cry for Instances, Quests etc. Now the developers made it, but now the same person cry for open fields and grind.
The problem with the users also not only the developers.
The problem is that L2 hasn't followed its own way to innovate with GoD and these new classes, devs just brought them from Aion, with the disadvantage of all "awakening" classes don't have any kind of customization, all players of a same class have the same skills, same stats, same gear and L2 has a poorer gameplay, because in Aion you can use both WASD and click to move, if you like WASD, you can play with wasd in Aion, but if you don't, you can also play using click to move, in other words, it pleases both kind players, and in Aion, there are several gears per class, as well as there is that stigma system that allows players of a same class have some differences.
Are you saying that L2 is good as it is, bringing a poorer version of Aion? At least, for me, it'd be better if they had copied WoW classes and their rich class specializations and their new talent system that will come in MoP update instead of bringing an Aion with much poorer customizations(but much more buff dependent than Aion).
