I remember the old days of cruma tower when no one soloed. Place was crowded and we grinded 10 hours to get level 39-40!
I remember the US closed/open beta. Very cool time to play Lineage 2...I don't think I have any recordings or screenshots from that time sadly :(

I remember the day like it was yesterday.
I remember the various US beta periods pretty well, but I don't remember ever having helmets or cloaks. I remember them being talked about, but to my knowledge, they were never made it into the game.

Yes the rumors was true i told in the 1º version of game it had cloaks and helmets textures. but i start to think that only really a few koreans played the 2002 closed beta

the game developers removed the helmets and cloaks by technical and comercial issues
Hello there, I'm going to make a big bump in here...
I've been looking for more info on this client for almost 2 years and 2 months for research purposes.
So far what I know is what Miguel posted and that the download link for this client was last seen arround 2006/2007.
The installation file is supossed to be called LineageII_CB.exe.
Please if anyone out there have this file... Share it with us.
If you got a Korean friend who can help us to find it please tell him to.
Whoever reads this, thanks a lot if you try to help.
I have been around since then. I came from Lin1 with the closed beta invite thru that verson, came here and never looked back.

Don't know how much you want to talk other than all the deaths outside of the light elf village killing the mushrooms when PvP was everywhere.
Oh and running everywhere because there was no adena in pocket yet.

pre Soul Shots, and running to cruma when water and jumps didn't hurt.

Oh, one more thing, being able to get on a ledge and pop mops that bunched together before the mop jump was inacted.

Good times.
I remember the old days of cruma tower when no one soloed. Place was crowded and we grinded 10 hours to get level 39-40!

10 hours straight from 10pm to 8am, had breakfast and went right to class.

Ah my college days, how I miss thee.
I go back to Open Beta. My Character name was TulpOfElmore (a Dwarf). I do remember dragging around my friends SE Darkbane. People would ask me why I was doing that and how did I do it...lol. (used 2 PCs)
No buff NPCs in those days and dwarfs could only kill themselves efficiently :p. Plus if I died from a mob and dropped something I had a ready helper to pick the stuff up before someone else did.

Then joined Undomiel a rp clan for Zee Dramaz. Although I must say that the clan leader Jeanne was problably the best Clan Leader I ever had.

I remember Jeanne from Undomiel. Was a **** good person. Helped me work off Karma quite a few times.

EDIT: why did that get censored???????
<----------- Remembers the old NA Official L2 forum.

Played JP OBPrelude & NA OB Prelude. I almost remember being stuck on TI for days and loot being forced FFA in parties. Man, that was some good times.
Such a great time, remember feeling like the best player on the server with my banana yellow mithril set heading to Gludin arena.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7Yw8C8fCOA makes me sad.

P.S send me the script and I'll translate it.

I remember finally being able to afford my brig armor (no helmet to complete set) and thinking I was a pretty slick. Then of course... When I went half way into C grade still in the Brig during C1, that made me sad.
I came late, for the time C4 was on PBT, and C3 was still on, I remember changes like Giran changed a little bit with a new alley that connect both north exits.

But my first time was on Beta I got a 15 days key on C1 times, and I though was still raw so I came to play on C3.

Then I quit for some years and came back later, then quit again and came back when trully free.

This is the game I always back to.

Nice , you have any screen of that giran you talked about ?
Man i remember running everywhere ****, once i arrived at the continent (i was human) i was like "Are you serious ?" running and running, doing some quests at gludin which involved lizardmen if im not bad then i went to ruins of agony, got killed, dropped my precious forest bow and rage quitted.

Ill be honest with you, i only came here for the upside down question marks.

¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue? ¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue? ¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue? ¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue? ¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue? ¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue? ¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue? ¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue? ¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue? ¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue? ¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue? ¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue? ¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue? ¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue? ¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue? ¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue? ¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue? ¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue? ¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?¿hue?
¿Upside down question marks are so awesome?
Me, played since beta a little. I didn't play a ton right away. I had never played an MMO and then after it released I got addicted. last 3 years or so not as hardcore anymore. Got married two years ago and life's been pretty busy.
Yeah, this game had amazing graphics for 2003. Compare early L2 graphics to early WoW = no contest. But WoW has always looked like ****.

Anyways...

Beta was just a magical time to play. When every one was new and low level, even the newbie areas were crowded with people LFG and pvping. I can't really describe how much fun that was, but that experience is why I keep coming back to this game every though its best days are long gone.
Oh sweet nostalgia. The early days of roaming 1st job changed pk's keeping the lowbies down. The massive battles for a Cruma room. When world pvp mattered and had some sort of risk involved gave it a fun edge. In game politics mattered a little more, the idea of taking a castle was a daunting idea in general. Anybody who had C grade gear was top of the server hands down. The end of prelude was one of the funnest times in the game. Sadly I can't contribute much as I've lost any old screenshots years ago, but thanks for keeping/sharing your old ones.
I logged in open beta 25 minutes before they shut down the server to go live to Prelude. All the characters were deleted when Prelude launched

Or did I log in closed beta 25 minutes before they shut down the server to go to Open Beta? Whenever the character wipe was, was when I logged in.

I remember making a dark elf and my character would disconnect in the village, because the animation of the "Electric Hand" overloaded my pc.

I remember rerolling if I dropped my map. I remember rerolling because I got lost in the water and died and dropped my map and weapon. Great game, I miss those times.

I still remember hunting Keltirs in Dwarf Village with the sounds on! What an impressive game L2 was at this time. Ahh the nostalgia.

If I remember correctly, Bartz was the only server then.

HornyOne ring a bell? SR, one of the highest levels in Prelude/C1 (shout out to my Czech friends!) And then there was those Viet players who were top levels and played 24/7.

that, ppl could keep their chars when the game went from open beta to prelude. I refused to spend adena on a map .. so a friend who started as dark elve had to guide me all the way from talking island to DE Village .. and that was a pretty dangerous journey back in the days .) ... rly, in a few month its 10years ago, what a waste of time.
ahha the oollldd times, i remember killing wolves in talking, all freezed up with my GeForce 4 440 64MB xD
**** i miss those days...
I remember a GM actually kicking us out of SoDa (school of the dark arts) bottom because were using the terrain exploit lol.

All of a sudden I was booted into town and I had no idea why lol, a GM actually came on to tell us what were doing and kicked us out.

Original Cheaters of L2.
I remember running underwater from TI toward Gludin, so that it only cost an SoE, rather than 17k (Who the hell had 17k to blow?)... Worked pretty well, since we couldn't drown on the ocean floor.

I remember being killed by another player, the day after they opened up Hindemith. Then I spawned and killed him. Then he spawned and killed me. Then we just stopped fighting each other, because we got paranoid about losing our (no-grade) gear. He became a notorious red on TI; I became a bit of a carebear.

And I remember when they introduced soulshot - probably the most effective adena sink ever.
Thetrollkin I was gonna post something similar.... You know you remember the good ole days when you can remember the boat ride from Talking Island to Gludin and hoping you didn't fall off the boat or d/c

Played open beta on Kain and some of my favorite memories were dropping mobs on the asian botters and collecting whatever they dropped.

In the early days I was in the clan Static and they were truelly some of the funnest peeps i've ever played with. IMO back then on Kain Augustwest was probably the best pvper on the server and was a great person to play with.

Sorry i can't contribute any old screenshots as i've prolly reformatted/upgraded 10x since those days but fav shots to take were always the adena pics we'd make.

I still remember the first castle siege and someone had spelled out the word PU$$Y and there were representatives from Washington Post etc.. ingame to watch the event on trial accounts.

I think the Guild Wars beta began a short while after L2's ended and it was pretty easy to get them confused because L2 and GW looked a lot more like each other than any other MMO at that time, especially WoW.

Kinda funny, since GW has been developed by former Blizzard employees.
Original Cheaters of L2.

hahahah, yeah all fun and sh*t until a GM comes along and cracks some skulls.
it was a very different time, a much rougher game.
I really wish i still had screenshots from prelude. Too many computer upgrades since then. I played a lot in prelude, I was on Bartz, I was lvl 61 when c1 came out. I played a SR named Grywnille. Great times, miss the good old days and all the friends I used to play with.
Nowadays, 90% of the so-called players community are fully automated.
Even when some of you talk and act like humans, I still think you are scripted and your gear is RMT'ed anyways. Therefore, there is no point in playing with you: no partying, no pvp with or against you, no interaction at all.

Whereas back in the day, in Open Beta, even the Chinese farmers were live players! :p

I think Hindemith only had beta for a week before it went live.

Screenshots, lol. Many harddrives ago :)

I've played since prelude. I remember a Chinese farmer named hash lord on gustin. It was fun pvping against farmers, who were in fact live players.

Looking at your screenshot makes me wish a different company would take over this game and open up a classic server starting with prelude, that is pay to play.

I still keep the Ghoul's Staff crafted by Hashlord himself for just 1 adena. :p

Here's the structure of Hashlord's criminal organization:

Getting me to crack into tears is as easy as playing this song.

Bill Brown's contribution to Lineage II captured everything about it's essence. The man is a God for these tracks.

And if we're going there, you could tell old Lineage II was a labor of love from the people who created it. But I digress, this would lead me into talking about old L2 for hours.

I stopped playing a long long time ago, and I honestly can't bare the thought of playing "this game now, whatever shadow of it's former self it is". But [old] Lineage II will always remain in me as "the one that got away".
I played in beta but refused to pay to play due to the rough nature of the game at the time. Came back in late c2 played through c3 and quit again. Basically I play for a while then quit then get the itch to play again. Most recent itch occurred the other week.

I've been trying to remember when the forums were changed we were forced to reregister for them.
Fun times back in beta, I played aswell but only in the late stage of beta.

Most fun was Cruma, like ppl said. Was full of life and the forever anti farmer clan Everred going around killing bots was fun.

I originally was an abyss walker but I abandoned that for a SPS and of course had to pay for a second account so I could have a SE to follow the SPS around. I believe my server's name was Kain back then.

They changed the forums a while back and I was late to re-register so my account displays a semi-incorrect join date.

Here's the Abys walker's birthday on this account.

was there, this game used to rock.

just came back to see what was up about a month ago, sadly disappointed at how the game has changed.

i honestly blame ncsoft's model of encouraging bots for pushing the level gap, it was pretty well know by 2005 that ncsoft made the first bot for the game.

right now as basically a new player i see ZERO pvp and everywhere i go to level from 0-85 is full of bots, and people spaming me with how much adena they can sell me cheap
