I don't want to play with a server thats full of veteran players.

I have experienced from other MMOs that they are very unfriendly to new players so I want to avoid them if possible.
naia.
naia.

And how old is Naia?
Barts, the oldest and youngest server (considering it was recreated after GoD update)
I think it's Bartz, but not 100% sure

All servers are kinda the same now :)

Bartz just makes me think of Bart Simpson and I'm not sure that I want to play on a server named like that.
You, good sir, have some weird fetishes.

chronos is the "oldest" server .. but most of the veterans quit long time ago, and when L2 went free to play many new ppl started on chronos.

As opposed to normal fetishes...? :p

Well, for me normal is loving cats and linking their funny pictures.

Not choosing a server due to the name too similar to a fictiona character, for me is a weird fetish.

And that was also a bit of trolling
Not normal fetishes would be licking cat paws because they are "salty."
There's "veterans" in all servers now...
Second hand knowledge I promise you.
all servers are old and filled with bots
so pick whatever server you like the name :p

Then what purpose does gameguard serve?

GameGuard was never really designed to stop bots. It's primary function is to try and stop keyloggers.
Guameguard is old, you should know many game's protection is not exactly effective 100%.

Ah, I see.

Maybe ncsoft should have a program called BotGuard instead?
