Magic Treasure Chests?

General Discussion Started Last reply 15 posts
Since the release of Tauti, there has been a removal of the older magic chests you would be able to find randomly on the playing field. They were the chests that were on fire, we all should remember those right?

Well, has anyone encountered the replacement chests yet? If you have, plz describe what it was like. I am not even sure if the Maestro recipes / keys are of any use anymore either.
Basically, you talk to the treasure chest and a dimensional door opens up. You go inside an area where you talk to a NPC who spawns 3 chests for you. Then you pick one of the three chests and they spit out an item. Most of the time it is either an attribute crystal, attribute stone, regular enchant scroll, or a blessed enchant scroll.

All the info you need about the new treasure chests can also be found here (http://www.lineage2.com/en/game/patch-notes/tauti/items/treasure-chests.php).
I have used many... free money and Vit pots... fun had by all.

Last question then, are the Maestro recipe's and the keys for the old chests now obsolete?

Drachen, I am happy you have had some luck! Hope you have more, and plz share your fun experiences here sometime, some of us enjoy reading about that.
Chests that spawn in Orbis (95+ area) / Hellfire seed (97+ area with enter lvl restriction) doesnt let 97+ lvl people enter. They say that one doesnt meet the lvl requirements :( Broken chests bah.

Actually, the treasure chests are random and may have level restrictions on them. If you're lucky you might be able to get one that can be used by a lvl 99.

Oh well, that explains everything, so in a location where only lvl 97+ people are allowed to enter might a lvl 20 chest spawn. Thought their lvl corresponds to place they spawn at. But i guess it would be too much to ask korean developers for some common sense and logic :D

Actually, they do correlate, although for example you can be in a 95+ area and have chests lvl 95, lvl 97 and lvl 99. If u are lvl 98 and u get a lvl 99 chest you cannot go insid the portal yet the chest is in the correct area.
I was just in Silent Valley, and a new chest spawned there. Someone outside of the level range tried to open it, and he asked me what does it take to open one, so I went to the chest and opened it up. Got some S80 materials from it, without the need for a key. So this makes the Maestro recipes and the keys sold in NPC's obsolete. Also, the new chests, have a much much greater chance to give you something decent compared to the old ones that were like 1 in 100 or so chance to give anything at all.

Thankyou NCsoft for a great fix and replacememnt for the old treasure chests.

Ya I sent in a bug report petition about it. Ran into that same issue in Hellfire.

I opened one in Hellfire (must be 97+ to port in) and @ lvl 97 I couldn't enter it and neither could the lvl 99 toon that tried.
Well, I was in Silent Valley last night, and came across 2 of the new treasure chests in the field. One was surrounded by some pillars that use fire attacks on you. If you try to solo them at the low 70s, well, prepare for a good fight to get to the chest that is in the centre of the circle. So I just killed 2 of the pillars, opened the chest and ran...then was mobbed and I didnt know why. I died, went to town, returned to SV. I found another chest, this time it was just a chest with nothing protecting it. I opened that one easily, but had no idea of what was to follow. I got a "curse" of being a monster magnet for 20 minutes. If this curse is what people will have to deal with every time they open a chest, and especially at higher levels, it will make the chest valueless. Imagine being a lvl 90s player with a 20 minute monster aggro curse. People I think will avoid these chests like the plague. A 20 minute aggro curse just for opening a treasure chest? Juji, you really need to reconsider that length of time, and reduce it to perhaps 2 or 4 minutes. To force someone to sit in the same spot for 20 minutes is a little extreme just for a treasure chest that, so far, has only given crafting materials. Imagine the chagrin of a lvl 90s player, being mass-aggro'ed to death? At that level, to lose even 1% due to something as frivilous (spelling?) would make most players pull their hair out and they probably will ignore all treasure chests they find.

My question is, does this aggro curse affect just the opener? Would the aggro curse affect an entire party if opened by one person in the party? We need to test this.

EDIT: Prior to the last update, I did not have an aggro curse for 20 minutes when I opened these chests, so was this something included in this patch you did not know about?
the chests in Silent Valley that drop S80 mats are not the new chests!
they are specific only to Silent Valley location and have been the same for few updates. they don't take you into another dimension and don't require Maestro keys.
stop spreading confusion :)
ahem, i am not spreading any confusion. I had no idea that there are chests exclusive to specific places.

So why dont you tell me how many other places are like Silent Valley that have area-specific chests? Or, is Silent Valley the only place that has this feature?

Why not be constructive and offer information instead of being....so blah.
Just Silent Valley has those "specially defended chest"... that was the same before the update.
Thankyou Dracha.

I look forward to the day I meet up with you when you pk me.

I will laugh, and thank you! I think I absolutely respect you being a prolific pker, since you do offer the community a value, and that sir is FUN!
