There's not really much of a difference in xp or open pvp; humans are slow, elves cast fast. In Oly, dark elves have the raw advantage because they're ahead of the INT curve but it's pretty gear based as well.
Choose the race that most you like. A good healer depends more of his playing style. But if you are too worry about stats, symply choose a light elf for maximum casting speed. Period.
Love my light elf healer -- but she was my first toon ever made as EE over 6 years ago...so I'm a bit biased toward light elf healers :)
But yea, in my opinion the stats don't make too much difference especially not in pve situations. (Can't speak much for pvp) I feel like as long as you are an attentive healer with knowledgeable about your skills...any race can do the job just fine. So choose what you think you'll enjoy!
I am fairly new to this game but have a decent amount of experience with MMOs in general. I am now looking to start a healer character in L2. I did my fair amount of research and it seems that currently there is not much difference between different races, once you reach the transcendence level.
If the above is correct, I wonder which race would fare best at leveling. On Elf forums I have found some posts qqing that people don't want EEs in leveling parties, due to all their abilities being provided by items in game. On the other hand I read that while Cardinal was traditionally THE healer class, now with Aore healer on horizon they are sub-par as they lack supplementary skills.
One thing that looks very interesting for me in Elfs is the higher movement speed and portal spells. I generally like the world mobility abilities different classes provide and wonder if this is something that remains a factor throughout the game or later on all classes get access to some sort of portal scrolls / NPC teleports and the likes?
One final thing is I read rumors that while now there is only one healer class, NCSoft intends to divide the path in the future again. Do you, experienced players, think it is possible that in the future your race will again determine if you are a pure healer (human) or healer/buffer (elf / d.elf)?
TL;DR; - Since all races are mostly the same as Aore (and if not - please tell my why), what race to pick to have fast and pleasant leveling?

-Each race has specific skills after awakening, factor these into your decision.
(example: darkelf have an active skill to make player lose target, and orcs have a skill that makes them invincible for a short time when low health)
-Each race also has different base stats that you should think about.
(example: lightelves cast faster, orcs have more health etc...)
As far as "pleasant leveling" and "fast xp" they are all pretty-much the same now. The grind to 85 is about the same for all healers now.
(people at low levels aren't as picky anymore about specific classes as they used to be.)
I advise just looking at end-result and deciding which will fit your play-style the most! Good luck.

Probably w/o dyes not much diferent (not much ) but with dyes the elf go OP and makes look as a ****** the DE(or maybe the elf is just so **** fast). i check pve and pvp with DE and elf (my chars have almost same gear. elf is 92/91/etc DE is 91/77/etc) in 90+ instances and pvp is not the same.
I m playing for pvps the DE as a way to train my self when the times come :).
anyways i need to check with dual class with my DE i hope soon :)
about stun/mental resist for DE is very important if u get stun , etc u cant heal is big problem DE requires more adena to spend to get same improvement as an elf but is posible (lvl 5 legendary dye).
Pros for each race. I would just take Kanaeda's advice and play what makes you happy instead of what is "meta" you're going to be having to do a lot of farming to compete with top players on the servers.
Non-SoD Races:
Humans: Subpar in terms of base stats and racial skills compared to their other racial counterparts. However, in the upcoming Lindvior update they will have the highest healing potential of all the 3 race choices.
Elves: Fastest casting speed, high mana regen, high magic crit. In Lindvior they can spam even more heals in a short amount of time.
DE: Highest INT and raw M. Atk of all three. Has a good racial skill for PvP (Disparition). Gets an even higher M. Atk boost in Lindvior.
SoD Races:
Orc: On the tanky side. Has access to an invincibility passive that can save lives and turn situations around.
Dwarf: On the tanky side. Has access to an active reflect and knockdown that can turn around certain situations.
Kamael: Capability to transform...actually everything is pretty much *****ing useless except for Battle Instinct which makes your heals slightly cheaper.
In lindvior you can choose any class regardless of race, so you can be a human shilien saint with huge m.atk, an elf cardinal with awesome heal power, etc.
Also passive racial skills are changed (kamael loses 5% clarity, all races lose attack element bonus) and active racial skills can be chosen, so for instance you can be an elf cardinal with disparition and undying will (orc celestial) :D

Not sure about the source of those claims (most people read terragamers and understand 50% of what's written there, because the editors themselves lack a serious translator from Korean), but it's true that racial skills will not be bound anymore to the race, and instead you can choose what 2 skills you want to get. I'm 100% sure most healers will choose Disparition + Undying Will...
Err... no? Racial stats remain bound to the race of the character, not the race of the class.
A human shilien saint will have less m.atk than a DE shilien saint due to lower INT, but the +20% m.atk bonus of shilien saint class applies to any race.
