Server Crash Issues

As you know, we are still experiencing some server crash issues, especially on Naia server in the past days. Although the previous fix for the server crash issue after the Tauti update launch seemed to work for a little while, the problem has evolved and we are investigating new fixes for it. We have been applying some potential fixes with some of the crashes but have yet to find a working one. Rest assured we are working closely and quickly with the developers and technical teams in order to find a solution for this problem as soon as possible.

what about ppl that use the NCstore and bought there vita recovery potion 30 minutes

With a good PUBLIC TEST SERVER you guys could've tested the Tauti server software under a load bigger then 5 employees of NCWest.

Events have been cause for server crashes since '07...

I cannot share the exact technical details, but from what I'm seeing so far we are working through it by process of elimination. As we've tried some fixes that ended up not working, we are able to rule out the causes. Beyond this observation I do not personally know what the status is.

We cannot comment on any kind of compensation until the problem is completely resolved. In the meantime, take note of what items you have lost or issues you've had due to this problem so that when it is over you have a solid idea of how it impacted you.

Well, I would suggest not to use vita-related items with frequent crashes... It's common sense.

since NCWest is the 4th(?) to receive updates , I think they consider updates to be tested by korea/taiwan/russian retail imo..
I still don't get why every time an update reaches a new "wing" of NCSoft, lots of things are lost on the way.
Maybe those differences make an update unstable.

Ex: why do we have only as event the rim kamaloka.
I, for instance would consider buying a premium account for the bonuses others have.

Chronos and Naia are similar population-wise (I believe Naia is a bit higher). That doesn't account for the fact that Naia is crashing far more often than Chronos. Also, the populations of all servers used to be much higher and there wasn't this issue.

Something about Naia is different and population doesn't explain it.

Just so you all know tomorrow is a US Holiday (July 4th) so don't expect much.

Lol, that is one good issues why 95+ characters are not 95+ players cause people still don't know how to use and play their own character due to the fast leveling of this vitality pots. And you're wrong in stating that you can't play w/o using vitality pots. Seems you have never played on official before.

These crashes don't even particularly bother me.*
Sure, it's boring when you're about to finish an instance or you have just used that particular rune for a couple hours of grind with your cp (and I don't have a cp), but it's your choice.
Nobody orders you to pop vita stuff when you know that the server is unstable.
So, simply stop complaining for a choice YOU made.

Seems Naia is rushing to go in maintenance. Server down wtih 30 mins before all servers should go in maintenance. :(

And it's 30sec job for spammers to log another toon lvl 20 and keep going, while having other backup toons on trains to lvl up to be able to chat :D

This spam is very annoying for community, but i doubt it has anything in common with server crashes.

I agree, it's amazing the number of bot / spammers in the game. The GMs should control this.

I'm actively playing.
I just stand in towns doing nothing, or leveling subs/alts. Rarely main.

Now tell me, if you know that the server is unstable, why do you pop vita pot/angel cat blessing/whatever, to complain later that you lost items/money for nothing?

Is it possible for NCSoft to make a team of gms to check for bots/spammers and ban them instantly. that's what i always thought as a real solution, but i can't be sure and i might be wrong tho..

they can design the software to auto kick/ban them by IP address and yet prefer not to so, not even after they manually banned players. unlike blizzard who years ago once banned 20k CD keys over night, banning users that used a rather harmless seeming ****. so harmless that almost everyone was useing it (D2 maphack generated the automap on entering the game instead of having to discover it).

so if it really is an issue with the bots then those IP's should be banned, thru temp ban warnings first until permanent for repeated offenders. i also am convinced they know who is botting, spamming, cheating, etc but choose not to do anything against it. my guess why they do that is because those "bad" users are the ones that spend the most money on the game. now this argument however is as old as the game itself and will fall on deaf ears.

Well, Guild Wars never has prolonged maintenances. When the devs need to load a fix, they do it immediately, without taking down the servers. It's the user's task to reload the client to get the latest build, and it usually takes less than 2 minutes.

As my L2 Developing Knowledge contains only Java material, I am not able to give you any solution out of Java ones.
If a java server had problem with various server crashes, I would suggest increasing the number of maximum connections to database.
As Naia Server has more people than the other 4 servers, then this could be the problem.
When more people than the already set number for maximum database connections try to do something that involves this kind of connection, server crushes.

I have to remind you that this is what happens in Java.... but you can never know as L2J is based on Official.

You can try to set this number to 2 and let 3 employees login and do actions requesting database connection at the very same moment.
If you see server crushes, then you got the problem.

Also, if the already set number is higher than the Maximum Online Number ever, then there might be something that doesn't follow the right order of things.
[Open connection][Edit][Close connection]
So there could be a problem after reaching the maximum connections to database.

Never had this happen to me.

Sheesh, you would think by now that this problem would have been fixed, there have been alot of this going on it is a pain to begin with but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, it is worse when you are in an instance like Fortuna, Spez, Ist, etc.... and the server goes down, everyone misses out on finishing the instance and to boot you get a stupid cooldown to be able to go back in,,, not cool NcSoft !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's always like this during the events that require massive summoning/hatching/enchanting or other item manipulations.

While my party got a little HP left on the Spezion.

Every character's location/items/skills etc. are saved in Database every few minutes or seconds and when a character restarts/exists the game. If you get disconnected for any abnormal reason like Internet Connection Down or Game crush, you will be back at the point that you were on the last database character update. That's why sometimes you teleport somewhere, you see yourself being teleported and then you get disconnected (buffering connection timeout) and then you're back at the town before teleporting.

NCWest, can you already turn off that stupid event? You keep extending it because of server crashes and servers keep crashing cause of it.
It's not even funny already. I've been trying to play for the past few days and whenever I log I either get d/c after a while or can't even log cause Naia is down.

Yeah, but the problem is is with the servers the way they are nobody can stay online to actually... USE them.

They took out angel cat on Bartz.. apparently people aren't disconnecting enough for compensation.. not to mention the exp my 3 toons that I personally kill with have lost because of being d/c'd CONSTANTLY. This is a customer service nightmare and reminds me of why I quit back in C3.

SOme suggest not to pop vita items. But the problem is OUR EVENT VITALITY ITEMS ARE GETTING DELETED.

I have used a 50% rune which is being wasted alot and dragon buff scrols and cat blessing wasted when I am kicked out of karta group. And we must use the dragon even t vitality scrols becuase they are getitng deleted.

To compensate we need to have an extension for dragon vit scrolls for some time after the issue is fixed.

This is really starting to piss me off. some players like me have a job and kids so i dont get alot of play time. but when i do its no **** fun when the server just crashes on you. and event items that cant be used after next maint. is useless to players like me. why not let players keep the dracos blessing oh i forget then nc soft just wont make any $$$ of the xp rune packs!!!!my bad for forgetting that LITTLE fact.

I have 3 Accounts and lost in total 5 mentee's cos they just went BB after the server crashs. Hard to log back to mentor the mentee's while i am at work....

PS: One mentee was pretty ****** yesterday as he had the whole day free and i came home close to midnight so see lot of QQ cos he had the whole day no mentor buffs...

All, I've been on vacation over the 4th holiday and left my account signed in for my mentees. When I tried to maximize the game window, it wouldn't...after restarting my machine and logging into game, my armor was gone. +3/+4 Immortal set (standard).....has this happened to anyone else?
