So just install and play. It's free so you lose nothing trying it. The game is active,but you do have free to play people who came from private servers and they can be irritating

If you haven't seen a change (for the worse) in the general manners, ignorant actions and attitude of the influx of players since it went F2P, then you are in a bubble all of your own.
I have said this before on these forums, I understand that English isn't the first langauge of many of the new player, but if they can learn enough to say "buffs pls", then they can learn enough to say "ty"
(this week a player asked for buffs "plise buffs", I did, and he replied "obrigado" - he didn't use english, but he did say thanks - that is all I ask).

As far as active community well, as you can see based on the number of replies it is indeed active. The game is open worldwide from what I understand. So NA, EU and pretty much most other places can play.
I can't speak for other servers but I see plenty on Chronos, both friendly PvP, unfriendly and undesired (reds lol). Chronos is also the most populated server. It's one of the older servers (Chronos and Naia are both Pre-Goddess update).

Yeah i understand in any game starting over after so long is hard but i only play games for pvp, so i dont give up easily. If anything it gives me a greater desire to play more
I'am and Aeore healer playing on Shilen , what i can say about shilen is : Large community of real players but also a district of bots... many langauges are spoken around , many people playing between 60-90 at the moment os it will be easy to find parties etc...etc... even if u pick a healer a tank or a buffer.
I suggest u should try playing healer as iam on of them cause its a co-op player but also enjoyable in solo mode.
I also suggest , if u don't have a toon allready in one of the old servers like chronos and Naia you should go for Magmeld or shilen because on those 2 servers older player [preGoD] are allready 95+ most of them and some of them even 99 i think so not many chances to be at the top level [generaly] some time :)

Lineage 2 is already 8 years old so Goddess of Destruction is the newst update we have on the USA servers; Korean servers are always ahead. Chronos and Naia are the oldest servers with players (like me) who have been playing here since the game went live in 2003.
There used to be something like 9 to 12 (can't remember the exact number) original servers back when L2 was Pay to Play, but when they started losing people they started merging the servers until only 2 were left (Chonos, which the original US based server, and Nani which is the original Euro server).
L2 is best known for the open world PvP (you can kill or be killed anywhere outside of town at anytime) but many people do not like the new PK system since it is very harsh if you kill a player who does not flag back.
I do not PvP myself and never have, does not interest me, but you will find a lot of annoying red players who just go around killing for no reason except to be a pain. The game is a lot easier to level and get gear than it used to be (Pre Gracia Chonical) and you can get to level 85 if you dedicate yourself in about 2 weeks; after that the XP curve is a massive grind fest.
The game itself does not really start until you are levl 90+ as far a good PvP goes.
I play a Storm Screamer (Dark Elf Mage Class) and I have always liked their strong offensive skills, but they lack defensive skills and tend to eat up MP like water. Best healers/supports for Pre Awakening seem to be Orc Warcryers, ISS buffers are the #1 choice for Awakened as well as a good source of income. :D

at this point u'll notice that pking someone else at the range of levels between 1-90 or at least 85 will bring you into madness cuz of new pk system the new system works like this:
You get points of killing a chaotic char and ur name turns green but you get negative points for pking someone else and ur name turns red to clear this "karma" you need to kill , for example if your karma is around 1k you gonna need to kill more than 600 monster in white name status in the range of 1 to 50 level [p.s. i dont know if its changed now but thats what happend to me back at 44 lvl near gludio :P] so you better hold your evil pk powers for high level rage or while you are in green name status! :) GL!
I have to admit it all sounds very interesting, im used to alot of grinding as ive played a few korean grind games myself. I think i can hold back on pvp enough to reach high lvl as im played a game with a similar system but they were called villian points

Here we call them clans. If you are in a great clan, they will help you sure enough. Just don't be afraid to ask silly questions in clan chat.
I promise you they won't call you a stupid noob or anything. Most good clans I've come across only want to help their members.
Thats nice to hear, im not the kinda player who asks for everything on a plate its just nice to have a guild/clan to talk with and have some good team play
When clicking to move there is around a 2second delay -_- on every server and im guessin this is not normal?
Some delays in towns can happen. But if you have that always, then it's just a bad ping.

You could try to use Battleping. Search talks about Battleping via the Search Function, there is a lot of help in them.

I wouldn't base most of your information off the responses in this forum, the community inside each server is somewhat of a different feeling in my opinion. Most players don't even communicate with "official forums" a-lot of them use their own personal clan forums etc...
Get 85+ on most servers, then look around and find a well established clan with a clan-hall or castle. The people you make friends with and login/group with on a daily basis will become your community.

Not only for pvp but pvp & pking is a large part of why i play any online game
Trust me, you don't want to PK if your lower than lvl 70, even 70 is too low. And for pvp, i'll tell you, since i am a pvp guy and i've been around for a long time... I'll tell you that pvp has changed a lot! All those f2p players don't even think about flagging, if they flag they bring 25 more people only to kill 1. I myself, try to grief as much as i can, because i even kill 'noobs' that are 3-7 levels higher. There are some people that might flag, not many though, welcome back, and good luck.

OP definitely get into a clan asap, most clans look for people to run through the clan academy for fame and they will reward you for it. If you're good at making friends they should invite you into the actual clan after you graduate.
Naia and Chronos are the oldest servers, so if you play on either of those you'll eventually facing well geared toons compared to the other servers. Honestly I'd choose a server based on timezone though. I play on shilen now and I can't wait to transfer, they ****** all of the timezones up.
And yeah, don't pk anyone before 85 imo. I pk'd someone the day GoD came out at like lvl 40 and just rerolled another toon, it's that hard to work off karma being that low.
