Testing: How Tauti PATK change affects melee skills.
Question: Describe the scale at which PATK affects the 3 melee skill types since Tauti Launched compared to GoD. Melee skills are not all the same and depending on the type behave very differently. Melee skills are divided into 3 categories, Standard (Gust Blade, Cripple, Armor Destruction), Stabs (Chain Blow, Reverse, Blood Stab), Momentum (Mega Strike, Power Bomber, Jump Attack)
Reason: Very little information was given in the Tauti Patch Notes other than damage had changed for these skill types.
Player: Tyrr Warrior (lvl. 99)
Status: No Armor, Soulshots off, Lightning Force off, and No Buffs
Weapons Tested: Short Sword [NG], Saber [D], StormBringer [C], Keshanberk , Dark Legion's Edge [A], Forgotten Blade , Requiem Cutter [R], Specter Cutter [R95], and Amaranthine Cutter [R99].
Skills Tested: Mega Strike (lvl. 8)
Results without Momentum:
Short Sword (8 P. Atk) - 2,183 Damage | Character P. Atk - 430
Saber (40 P. Atk) - 2,200 Damage | Character P. Atk - 526
StormBringer (107 P. Atk) - 2,236 Damage | Character P. Atk - 727
Keshanberk (175 P. Atk) - 2,273 Damage | Character P. Atk - 931
Dark Legion's Edge (232 P. Atk) - 2,302 Damage | Character P. Atk - 1,102
Forgotten Blade (281 P. Atk) - 2,329 Damage | Character P. Atk - 1,249
Requiem Cutter (422 P. Atk) - 2,405 Damage | Character P. Atk - 1,671
Specter Cutter (567 P. Atk) - 2,483 Damage | Character P. Atk - 2,106
Amaranthine Cutter (602 P. Atk) - 2,501 Damage | Character P. Atk - 2,211

Results with Momentum at Stage 5:
Short Sword (8 P. Atk) - 3,548 Damage | Character P. Atk - 430
Saber (40 P. Atk) - 3,576 Damage | Character P. Atk - 526
StormBringer (107 P. Atk) - 3,634 Damage | Character P. Atk - 727
Keshanberk (175 P. Atk) - 3,694 Damage | Character P. Atk - 931
Dark Legion's Edge (232 P. Atk) - 3,743 Damage | Character P. Atk - 1,102
Forgotten Blade (281 P. Atk) - 3,786 Damage | Character P. Atk - 1,249
Requiem Cutter (422 P. Atk) - 3,908 Damage | Character P. Atk - 1,671
Specter Cutter (567 P. Atk) - 4,034 Damage | Character P. Atk - 2,106
Amaranthine Cutter (602 P. Atk) - 4,065 Damage | Character P. Atk - 2,211
To sum up for Mega Strike (lvl. 8)
Damage scales up dependent on Character Damage output.
Stage 5 momentum = +62.5% added to Normal Damage, not P.atk or Character P.atk.
?????????????????????????????????

Anyhow as I mentioned before, increasing the patk of the character by over 4x resulted in less than 400 damage extra done on momentum skills.

Juji can you investigate if this is a bug?

Were you going to do the Stab Test and Regular Skill Test ?
Derp!

Simple test, sorry i confused you. You are supposed to be a data analysis man. Put the data in a spreadsheet and see the truth. Using Stage 5 Momentum adds 62.5% damage over not using the skill. While gear obviously affects Patk., this particular skill appears to add a modifier onto the damage. This is consistent on the tests regardless of weapons in the test.
Ooh, I've been waiting for this one!

What's the P.Def of the target?

Also if it's not too much trouble to set up again, could you make one or two more data points at higher character P.Atk? It being at 50% and 100% of skill power for example (in these it's about 2-10%)

Anyway on first glance the changes in Tauti appear small; skill power still trumps P.Atk by a huge margin.
It seems rly weird to me that 8 patk does only ~300 lesser dmg as 601 patk.

Can't rly see there a "boost of Physical skills influenced by patk"
Not working as intended???
OMG. So there is no point to buy better weapon or enchant it. Requiem event weapon is enough till 99lvl. This is really radiculous

Seems like it's no big difference when performing skills.

But i bet a dollar that in normal attacks the damage difference is amazing.

Still strange :S
You can see the increase of patk effecting skill damage by just testing sonic rage.

There was approx ~70% increase (that I've observed) in the patk effecting skill damage.

70% + almost nothing is still almost nothing tho, lmfao.
imo not working "as intended" - there is no way even in the korean math that a NG wpn will do only 318 damage more than a R99 weapon.

alrady know this when i tested Mega Strike (this skill has no random dmg)

that's why a lot of ppl in russian server do pvp with Tallum*Dark Legion,HP +15%,MP +20%,CP +30% >>>>>>>> 100 dmg in skills

As opposed to the 10% + pvp dmg from dual SA?

I still find health + haste R duals more useful since you can use sonic rage and not hit for nothing (while you're waiting for your ridiculous cool-downs on your skills)
You could put PvP on S grade weapon

I had till tauti tallum*dle {pvp} was more usefull then any other R gr weapon, but after tauti i found more usefull to have apocalypse dual sa health+haste. With that i got little bigger damage, and much bigger dmg burst rate. And like someone said sonic rage is really imba after tauti.

duals till s80 have pvp dmg from SA and pvp from pvp option and dual sa gives the same pvp dmg as single sa
duals till s80 have pvp dmg from SA and pvp from pvp option and dual sa gives the same pvp dmg as single sa

I've been told specifically and repeatedly that single SA = 5% pvp dmg and that dual SA = 10% pvp dmg.

I reasoned that 5% from S-grade SA + 5% from PvP option = 10% from Dual SA for damage increase.

If this is not the case, then pvp + S grade SA is indeed not exactly equal.

S grade still does bad damage with sonic rage tho, and making good S80 duals is just extraordinarily expensive.

EDIT:
Ah, i see, you refer to this:

http://www.l2guru.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3224723&postcount=56

I totally forgot about S84

I will have to take this into consideration.

EDIT:
Assuming above is still correct, Health + Haste R grade dualsword is better in every way except the +20% mp.
Guys, these tests were done with a char without gear/buffs/triggers/anything.
Since the P.Atk gets added to the skill instead of multiplied (well, at least before Tauit), obviously at such low numbers the difference will be hard to tell.

When you compare P.Atk here you can see that with a r99 weapon he had 5 times the P.Atk than with a beginner one, but that still only amounted to less than 2k, which is overshadowed by the 20k+ on the skill.

Now if we suppose that with buffs and everything he has 2k P.Atk with no-grade and 10k P.Atk on r99. That's still a 5x difference. But on the skills it will be much more noticeable. Because now it's not a 2k difference, but an 8k difference.

Apparently the added "weight" on P.Atk that we got in the Tauti update is still relatively small, so here it's kinda hard to tell how much it is. If you examine the data provided, you see that it's about 5-6 P.Atk per point of damage increase, but things seem to start to change with the last 2 data points (where it's 4-5 and 10-11 patk per damage point), so it looks like something more is going on at higher P.Atk/Skill power ratio. That's why I'm trying to get a glimpse at it, too.
Did you test these weapons without SA? With SA, against a NPC or a Player?

Just wondering if the PvP bonus from SA played part in the tests on the A grade+ weapons. If they did that's lol.

I'll double check to see if there is an issue with P. Atk. I think Momentum is working as intended. I'll have to do a separate test for Rogue at a later time.

The target had very low P. Def, about less than 1,000.

Would it help you guys if I gave a ridiculous high amount of P. Atk? Like 25k, 50k, 100k, 150k...etc

High Character P. Atk Results:
10,065 P. Atk - 3,904 Damage
25,011 P. Atk - 6,573 Damage | *10,692 Damage with Momentum*
50,126 P. Atk - 11,059 Damage
100,531 P. Atk - 20,060 Damage
150,022 P. Atk - 28,899 Damage
200,022 P. Atk - 37,864 Damage
Awesome! Thanks!
Juji there must be some confusion here.

The test was to not determine the effect of momentum charges / patk. This was to determine the effect PATK has on momentum, stabs and standard physical skills skills in Tauti. The test should be done without momentum to avoid any type of skew.

Yes, I know. For the high character P. Atk test, I did not use momentum. I only added it for that one part in the test.

No one cares what you have to say if you cant follow along with the test was supposed to reveal. If you want to talk about momentum % go make another thread.

Better yet just steal the test result and post it on your wiki as if you did it yourself like all the other fansite stuff you steal without credit.
Its just funny to see that cause all the skills says that: Skill Power ADD to p. atk so why the damage of a short sword is almost the same of the amaranthine cutter ?
I did the tests and with half p. atk, using S grade duals i give almost same damage than my amaranthine slasher +4... Sounds like a bug... cause it would be add to p. atk as all tyrrs skills says...
Will ncsoft fix this ?
So why would i try to enchant a ++++ amaranthine to pvp if dont matter the p. atk ???

For feohs the skills says : power add to M. atk and that really do the difference but for us tyrrs is just sad....

We have been updated through the years since we used A grade years ago... so now, whats the point to have an R, R95 or R99 weapon for a tyrr ? For pve I give more damage just hitting for example Kalios with normal hits just letting the char hitting, than using mega strike.... for pve the p. atk does the difference but for pvp no, and it should be the same... but it is not... really understandable...
