NCsoft introduces a new account management system, the NC Account!
On July 12, 2012, the NC Account management system is implemented. From now on, any new accounts created will be of the NC Account system. The new account system is not a forceful change at this time: for months to come the NCsoft Master Account system and NC Account system will co-exist and players will have full access to their accounts and the game regardless of which system they use. Players will be able to migrate their NCsoft Master Account(s) to the new NC Account system in the near future. Please stay tuned for announcements on when migration becomes available. What's this mean for logging in now?
Nothing has changed! You can still log into the game, website, and forums, and manage your account and buy NCoin with no issues.

If you have multiple accounts for a particular game (two Aion accounts or two Lineage II accounts, for example), you will have to make two separate NC Accounts using different email addresses.
I have to confess that i am amazed how a change like that was decided by NCsoft!
Are you really expecting the players to create an email for every single account they have??

hehe, That's funny. I created 7 accounts using 7 different email accounts thinking it was not possible to use the same ....
What is a the big deal... why even complain about this change? Email accounts are free and take 69 seconds to make. transfer between game account would make more sense the way it is now
again i just have to compare with WoW, cause there you can transfer your chars between game accounts, when on same master account
NCsoft has not introduced that feature yet and with this move we know it will never happen either

Having multiple emails only cause you trouble and could be a security liability for your accounts. Not to mention that this actually could be use in some sort of bot prevention, but that's another story... Even that features you mentioned are almost impossible if the accounts are not connected in some way.
I don't like the change.
I have several game accounts but only 2 of them I play actively and they are both on same master account. I like having them together there along with the aion account that I stopped playing long time ago.
However even though these 2 are my "mains" I also need other game account for different purposes. If I am to create a e-mail address for each of them I need to take care of that e-mail, i.e. not forget the password, security questions to it, make sure to log it at least once in 3 months as If i don't do it, all letters are deleted and e-mail address is blocked until I unblock it myself. It's too much for me.
Besides I don't feel comfortable logging to account with e-mail address.
We should be able to add all of our game accounts to one master nc account, not go backwards dividing accounts and asigning them newly made emails. This seems like more of a anti-bot campaign than a enhancment of player security. 1 email to ****? or 6? hmm...
Perhaps more should be done with game account mechanics rather than making master account changes. Anyone expirienced in GoD knows that there isn't any reason for making two toons per account. 1)Sharing vitality between toons. 2) Being required to be logged in to mentor efficiently. 3) No account storage for sharing gear such as bound or augmented.
This should me (as name suggests) NC MASTER Account (containing all player's NC's games accounts)...not "One of NC's Account". If you are doing that you can remove whole "Master Account" thing and just add mail to game account.

This change just will downgrade the Security of NC to close to zero.
(Not to mention that i have a 6 year old Account which i dunno the original email, nor i can find the original serial key anymore after changing 3 times my flat... You know, 6 years ago this wasn't rly important to have)
Security is much better with the new system. Using email addresses that you can change instead of account names is superior. WoW had the same issue where your account would get compromised over and over again because the person who did it before knew what your account name was. Once they changed over to Battle.net and started using email addresses you could stop that merry-go-round easily by simply changing your Battle.net email address. I've experienced it first hand.
Secondly, the multiple email address issue is not a big deal. Use Windows Live or iCloud and you can create separate Aliases in the same email account for all your game accounts. Unless you have something like 4-5+ accounts it should not be an issue. I know on iCloud you can create 3 Aliases (therefore one iCloud mail account will support 4 NC Accounts). On Windows Live (Hotmail) you can do at least that many as well.

EDIT: Yes, the forums are super slow. But it may be because everyone is getting on them to see what's happening, since the websites were down forever yesterday...
I have one Master account with 3 lineage2 game accounts under the master account.
I am not so much concerned about creating a new email for each account. My concern is my account contact information like name address,state,zip info billing info.
What about having the same personal info/billing info on 3 different or multiple acounts?

I have owned these accounts for several years including my first master account for 8yrs.
Lets see what they have now as security:
1. account name
2. password
3. secret question
4. different password to game access
5. PIN code
6. different account name to your different games
7. different password to your different games
8. master account
9. master account has also different password.
10. you have different access to NCwest support site, where u can recall your acc if you know the details of registration name, country etc
Currently it is a 10 step defensive system, what normally the peoples wont be able to crack up.

So now a hacker has my email address for any reason and knows I play NCSoft its only a matter of guessing my password Brilliant idea Einstein.
I do not even know any half baked forum I am signed up to that uses your email as your login name. The forum I run uses a login name that is different from your display name and as a security measure your email address only for lost passwords.
Can we possibly see how this is a VERY VERY VERY BAD IDEA. Remember when Blizzard was going to link your real names to your accounts this idea is just up there with ******** ideas.
I have 5 accounts right now. Also have 2 CoH accounts 2 aion accounts how the hell am I am going to keep all those emails straight? Also I started playing this game 8 years ago now where do I find all the credentials I need to change this info?
Has anyone in NA PlayNC really thought this through? Here is good rule of thumb if its not broken DON'T FIX IT. It has worked for 8 years don't change it now.

PSSS this is in the FAQ either do I need a separate credit card for each account too? Currently You cannot use the same cc info on more then 1 master plaync account so umm what do we do there ? Please don't tell me to go buy cards because I will getting no nccoins because as i buy them now its an impromtu purchase 90% of the time I don't go out playing to buy it.

YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS SHOULD NEVER BE YOUR LOGIN FOR ANY GAME ACCOUNT FORUM ANYTHING. Anyone who knows anything about net security will tell you never link you email to anything because an email is the easiest piece of information to find about someone next to their home address.
Why don't you start linking home address to our accounts for login that be a smart idea also...... Wow I can't believe how angry this is making me.

hehe.. i got exactly the same problem.. even though i can give them detailed info about credit card info for al the years i bin paying for the account, i can't get acces to my master account lol.. to top it off, just started playing again, investing time to get 90, now it looks like i bin wasting my time.. lol..
So after all of that time you spent "upgrading" the website yesterday, the forums are now painfully slow and still log you out every couple of minutes. Please don't "upgrade" more...
Dear NCwest it is close to illegal or maybe already it is how, you control the private information of the players! The currently account system is way the most safety account system what was existed until to any MMORPG, it gave almost maximal safety to those who knew how to handle their private information!
But what are you doing now??? Give us a system what under the name "higher security" gives way lower defense against every attacks! E-mail address, Password, PIN code just those three informations need and some already could crack up your account!
Next questions!:
-What will happen if the e-mail service provider, from each day to next day won't be able to provide our e-mail address? Will we loose our accounts???
-How can you do it that a third person aka e-mail service provider get almost instant access to our accounts also we will depend from now our e-mail service providers too!
I did pay to this game thousands of dollars and I won't allow, that you just modify everything after this as you think it is better, this is kind of step, what you can't do it without the accept of the higher part of the player base!
As costumer I have right to talk with the boss of the NCwest and now the time has come when I want speak with him as many of us, I guess.
So please give to us his/her name and his/her contact informations, because since Lance Stites left the NCsoft in April of 2011 we haven't information who lead your company!

Migration is not yet available (as it says in the original post of this thread) and there is no current ETA for when it will be. As soon as we have news on it we will update you.
While we could not post updates about the unavailabilty the forums or website during their extensive downtime, we pushed did as much messaging through Facebook and Twitter as possible to help keep players informed. We understand this period of time has been frustrating, and that some players may not enjoy the new account system, but we are happy to be able to provide a grace period of many months during which time both the NC Account and NCsoft Master Account players have full access to all the game and account features same as before.
@Sace, well turn of the google etc. stuff and w/e else you guys have added to the website & forums as the slow down has made it pretty bad to even bother read stuff here now..

We have not seen any major issues that would prefer all players from logging into their NCsoft Master Accounts in order to purchase NCoin, so I suspect this issue might only pertain to you so far. It is your choice, but giving up will certainly not solve the issue. It sounds like the support team needs information from you in order to verify that you are the true account owner. This is a security measure taken in order to protect your account and it is a good thing. If you're confused about what they are asking for or why, you can PM me your ticket number so I can read through it with you.

I do believe to you, that the staff of NCwest want the best to their players. But why do you want rework such kind of systems what did work in excellent form since soon 10 years?
I would be really interested, that why this new system gives higher security to us or to the NCwest?
Let's see on Thursday might be a lots of peoples from your company just did work on this (currently seems useless system changes) in 12-16 hours. Those players who bought weekly Rune of XP or Nevit lost a whole day also.
While might be the NCwest did pay out a lots of extra money for the nothing.
With this "company event" you could clean the bots too from the L2 and AION servers too, than you see we all would be happy.
But now we lost 1 day "play time" for the nothing, may some peoples will loose his/her account again as it was in 2011 March too, but while than was a security improvement at least here didn't happen nothing. Also the forum became to terrible slow too. Some peoples says, that since Thursday get more often DC from the servers.
I do try report some bot users since 3-4 days also but until I didn't really see result of it, may because all of GMs did work on this new system, while I did write to petition ticket too, that I won't buy until XP boost item, while they won't clean some bot groups from Garden of Genesis, that get some free place to peacefully can use it up.
I do like how the Lineage 2 Staff did improve in the last time you peoples really became to a way better Staff while you are the "Cryo team".
But the Service/Support team has serious problems, what some how finally they should solve.
L2 is ONLY game ive played where timed items keeps running when logged out..
So if u buy a 5 hour item ur forced to stay on for 5 hours, wich is a bad policy

On the instuction page http://www.lineage2.com/en/game/download/nc-account-migration/#Migrate step #4 states ( Select the game accounts you would like to permanetly migrate to your new account. You will have the opportunity to add any remaining game accounts after this migration is complete.) and shows an image of multiple game accounts under one Master account but at the bottom of that image states the opposite.
So i also need to ask.....Do we need just one new Master acct and e-mail for all of our game accounts to be migrated together like it shows, or do i/we need for ex,.. (3 Masters for 3 Game accts) like it says here http://www.lineage2.com/en/game/download/nc-account-migration/ under the section -- (I Have an NCsoft Master Account (Migration Required) )

Now, lets say I have 5 Accounts. I can't use my main email address because the moment I email an in game contact, they automatically have my login name. So now I have to flood the email providers with 5 new email accounts and as a result of that, I have to maintain those accounts for fear of them being closed for inactivity. (not looking to check multiple accounts each week).
If an email account goes inactive do I lose the account? My accounts are from 2004, 2 of them are my kids accounts and who knows if they used their correct information.. they dont remember what they used... accounts cannot be migrated and are lost?
The level of incompetence displayed by this staff over the years is staggering and I thought they hit an all time low when they tried to present the forced use of peer to peer software, known as Pando Media Booster, as a positve move to help speed up downloads but I'll bet you thought that was a good idea as well...
I have an old master account with three game accounts in it. In addition, I have several accounts that I made after GOD launch, when I started over on Magmeld and faced the odd restriction of 2 characters per account.
A "good thing" in my eyes would have been this:
"Dear players, we improved the NC Master account so you can now migrate all your existing game accounts into one master account. You can purchase NCoins for your master account and spend them at will on any game account in your master account"
Wow, *that* would have been a GOOD THING.
As it is now, I absolutely refuse to buy NCoins for any other than my one game account with my main character in it. I hate this new system, where I will have to type a lenghty email address each time I log to one of my other accounts, and have to maintain several seperate email accounts.
And guess what, yesterday I tried to create a new account to see how this all works and to test the new system, and also to make a new character that does not share his vitality with anyone. But the verification email never arrived, even when I had it resent to me twice. Then I myself sent an email to the address that I used, and it arrived without problem within seconds.

I may understand, merges accounts system, one email on account. Ok, maybe not easy enough (if you have more then one account), but understandable. May be it is really need to NC Soft.
But why we need to use email address to login in a game? Many people know my email address and I use it, I like it and I don't want to change it. Also I don’t want to create special email address for game and to care of it. It is stupid. Now anybody can attempt to try login in my game account. It seems to become easy - need only detect password and pin.
Also I will need to type my email address every time when I login in game! OMG! My emails address contains 24 symbols! I really don't like it! Please live us possibility after this entire changes login in game using account name not email address.

Lucky for me I still have every single piece of information from NCSoft since 2003 when I started in Prelude Beta. I have every CD Key, CC info and e-mail NCsoft ever sent me printed out and stored in a filing cabinet; I do this for any online game I play.
I even have my original install CD's from Chonical 1 along with the original 30 day time card that came with it; still sealed. Of course I have CD/DVD copies of every single Chronical release of the game inclduing Goddess of Destruction (very hard to find, got mine in Korea).
My main still has the original map that you had to get via a quest just so you could have a visible game map.
I have all my original CC information and the code they told me to keep for future identification needs.
So if you were 16/17 when you started playing this game and you moved many times between college work etc, you are going to tell me you retained all CC information, and Identification codes?
Excuse me for being a little vain here but not everyone thinks that "Hey in 10 years I'll still be playing this game and the company will decided to change the login mechanics so I'll need to retain this information for the next 10 years"

Yeah we want to combat bots, and increase security. What security would you like to be increased? how about people shop sharing their accounts? how about ncsoft implement the "Path" that wasn't easy to exploit (wonder if thats really been fixed more than likely not if I had to guess the Pin was decided to be the fix)

Most people have more than just 1 account. You are asking them to create and maintain additional e-mail addresses just for a game. That's not friendly service in my opinion.

Yes, actually sometimes I do wonder if they are. The bugs that seem to continue to come out of developement as well as the continued "non" fix updates that seem to cause additional issues, why shouldn't I think this is what they are doing around the office for fun?
ok it's not a huge deal to create free email address for each game account; I've done that with each of my accounts already anyway. you write down the info and keep it safe (and hope you don't lose it). I would definitely NOT use your main or real email address for L2 accounts tho. Why can't they just make it so you can CHANGE the account login name at will, that would add another layer of security without annoying the heck outta ppl always having to type in whole email address at login, or sharing email addresses if sharing accounts...
I also agree it should be much easier to get a lost account back; NC needs to examine the requested account and if there isn't anything worth more than 100m adena or so on it, it should be ok to give it to whoever wants it and has 2-3 pieces of valid info for the account (as in, it's not of any value to be stripped, so it's probably not a ****); the more forgiving NC is of ppl getting their accounts back the more ppl you can get/keep in game; if you ** ppl over and never let them get their old accounts back because of excessive verification of info requests, they probably won't ever come back to game.
they are doing this to add in the additional check at account creation of having to verify by email to create an account (although I don't understand why this feature can't be added to the system as it is already?). I don't think this will slow down the spam bots much but maybe it will (btw adena selling spam is driving me nuts, GMs really needs to patrol all towns constantly and insta-ban faster; regular players can't communicate at all because 1-3 adena spammers filling chat with messages 10 lines per shout, wtf...).
however I guess this does mean I will lose access to some accounts I have been using that belong to friends who quit, as I do not know the email addresses for those accounts :/

Already tried to get the info's reset back of the Master Account change in 2011.
No luck cos i don't have my original CD Key, nor do i remember the email which i used.
Told them the bonus gametime card number, living place, date of birth, CC info etc. but if you don't have the original email + the CD Key you are doomed... :(

We answered this question before, but we'll be sure to add a FAQ section to our pages in the future. All NC Accounts are created as North American. When you migrate your game accounts to your new NC Accounts, you will effectively become designated as a North American account owner, and you will be able to use NA codes such as the ones from NCoin Cards.

As far as I can tell so far, it is to implement verification email upon account creation, which does not currently happen afaik. To create old type account you give email but do not actually have to verify it. Otherwise I don't see any real difference/advantage either. Anyway it would be of best interest for everyone to make a new unique email account used only for each NC account you have. A lot of inconvenience for sure, but no way in heck should anyone use their real main email address for NC account.
Yes you get a verification email with old system, and of course when any changes are made you get notified. It is a bit lax as far as security goes, but it is what it is. I think the new system that uses email addresses to log in is simply superior because if your account is compromized but you're stuck with one user name you're forever at risk of that happening again due to that static element. Being able to change the log-in name fixes a lot of issues with that. I had my account hacked (truly hacked, not I gave the info to a friend and he scammed me hacked that you usually see here) in WoW and it was getting chain-compromized until they moved to Battle.net log-ins that used your email address to log in. After that, I simply changed my email address and it all stopped.
The good thing is that when that happens there it's usually resolved in a matter of hours (all things restored to your account, etc. etc.). Here you may get banned when they do their "investigation" simply because they don't wanna deal with it haha

Yes, you will need to have a separate email address (= separate NC Account) for each of your Lineage II accounts.

As the account support team for help in retrieving your account info. For credit card info you can call the bank it was with and get it from them. As in my case, i lost my serial code of one of my accounts. Because i moved 3 times, dunno the email anymore because you know, fake info's are always the best idea if you are around the web.
I work in a bank and i can tell you that no bank saves your old CC info's that long.
The end of my endless mails of last year been that my 6+ years old chars will be gone in a few months... :(

Sace can you perhaps just tell Korea this will not work on the NA servers. In Korea their accounts are tied to their RL social security numbers which is not the case in the US.
In a few months some of us will have been playing L2 almost 9 years. 9 years is a very long time to remember original CC info. I know I had changed my CC 3 times since then and the bank it was originally issued from has been bought out 2 times since then.
Even the US government doesn't go back further then 7 years on taxes but you expect someone to save records from almost 9 years ago?
To be honest if this plan goes through you will kill what is left of NA market. There is no reason for this plan anyone who plays this game and knows IT knows this is downgrade in security having your email directly linked to your login = BAD IDEA.
Your a community manager, from a business point of view if Banks, governments and other organizations do not save info that long why would a company expect the same from their customers? I think HGMWill was here when they reset everyone's accounts because the NCSoft Database got hacked i believe that was almost 4 years ago, perhaps you can ask him how many accounts were never recovered and how much subscriptions dipped after that?

I needed help with my password because it would not reset.
I put in a Support Ticket morning of Sept 4th. I did receive a reply until Sept 17th.
2 weeks of not being able to access an account is excessive. That is horrible support and it effected me not purchasing NCCoin so in the end NCSoft lost revenue because of it.
There is no longer a phone number to contact for account support so what if you get hacked or worse? You have to wait 2 weeks before the hacker is even stopped from using your account? Since there is no GM petitions in game no more either.
so what information we need to know to migrate? how am i suppose to remember information 5 years ago lol. :confused:
If you can log in to your account through the NCsoft Master Account login you should be able to migrate with no additional information required. :) Remember, migration is not yet available.

Migration is not yet available and there is no official date for when it will start (not sure where you got "Oct 12" from). No need to worry about it until then; we'll announce it loudly when it starts.

All i can say to this is ....NC will lose alot of players over this if they cant remember the info from almost 9 years ago...and as Slycutter said earlier in this thread...if we all quit cuz of Migration..the ppl at NC soft will be losing out as well......and then it will be like the days of old where they have to merge server cuz there arent enuff ppl to play....can you say bye bye Revenue? Yup I set all mine up with separate emails. We had security changes before that required more pertinent information and I didn't know some of my information. I wound up calling customer support to sort it out.

Problem is you can no longer call customer support in fact NA NCSoft no longer has live support of any kind in game or web. When I needed just my password reset for some reason it was not accepting my correct password it took them 13 days to do it.
Now x that by 20,000 people needing help they will be backlogged for months.

I've asked the technical teams for more information about account security but as of yet I have no more info to give in answer to that question. We can see that other game systems outside of NCSOFT also employ the email-as-account-name system, and as such it seems to me to be a tried and proven method despite the admitted skepticism about an email address being kept private or not. Now that migration is becoming a reality I'll dig in again to ask for more info.

Yes if you have few accounts that's will be a problem to check emails for all of them. but it's easy to use some email program to check your emails w/o logging to email website.
And one more thing. well known software users soon will start rage if admins do not migrate their accounts there :D

The account now is now the email address you attached to it, and that's what you'll use to log in to your account and the game. The "Display Name," if that's what you mean by the other 'account name' is not an account name; it's just something for public profiles that will likely have more involvement further down the road but for now isn't very important.
Important question:

Each account is now tied only to one email address/account name, and one password. There effectively is no more master account, so no need for a different password (unless you want to have different ones per game account, of course).

well I did set up emails for all my accounts,but lord this looks to be a headache coming when I sit down and do it.
Actually it isn't bad at all. Takes about 3 minutes per account to migrate. Once you do the first one of course and get used to it.
While the migration isn't bad, I still feel there needs to be an extra layer of security.

The accounts still have the pins of course, but I just think there needs to be a little something extra since now the NC Master password is the same as the password to log into the game.

what the hell ncwest? three + months of researching and developing the whole account migration conundrum and we end up with this? i thought this migration was supposed to make our lives easier not complicated.
atleast provide us with the option of changing our in-game log in id so we can have our usual log in id and not having to memorize exactly which 10 year old email address we used to create each and every account! (yes, i have more than one account, three to be exact, but since my computer can't handle anything more than two windows i end up using just two of them simultaneously) the only option we get is to change the email address associated with the account right now wth!?
I did the migration last night and was no prob.
First made a new e-mail address to be used on new master.
Logged into old, choose migrate now.
Was asked to relog into acct, did so.
Next screen asked to make new master or use an existing.
Clicked on new and added info.
Pin was sent to new email of new master for verification.
Checked new e-mail and got pin and verified.
Clicked ok to proceed in migration.
Logged into game and forum with new master acct.
:) I was concerned also but was never asked or required to use any old e-mail addresses, it did tho require me to answer my security questions and enter my birthdate for further ID verification.
There is a cancel button through the process and an "are you sure" warning so you can back out any time before the final step.
Is there a date we have to migrate by? And if so, what happens if we do not migrate by said date?
There is as of yet no confirmed date as to when migration will be required. It would be at least several months from now. If/when a date is decided we'll be sure to announce that on all our official sources very clearly. For now, no worries. :)

The NC Account email address/account name and the password for are your game login info. They are one and the same.

Why memorize anything when you can write it down in a notebook or make a word file on your PC

not getting my point, the game account is something i've used for the past, i don't know, 15 years or so, not only for lineage 2 but for other games i've played in the past and present as well. the passwords maybe different but the fact that the log in id always stayed consistent didn't change nor will it change by much in the future.
so reversely, why force us to get used to something we're not used to when the existing method worked without much hitches for the past eight years of lineage 2's history?

it is nothing more than a glorified tablet OS.
Most desktop users will tell MicroFail where they can shove Windows 8.

Tera is like that,using email to log in. I migrated one of my accounts and it was mildly annoying to do. I'll do the others later.
Today i migrated my account to the new account system. I want to ask if it is possible now to have different password for lineage 2 account and different to master account , as it was before. Cant find where to change the ingame password.

If you lose security over your email, you'll have compromised secutiry on both accounts.

But usually, the other e-mail will be only alias for the first one (like login+keyword@domain) or you will use e-mail forwarding to fetch all messages on one account. So it won't help.

Guild Wars 2 does not have a subscription (P2P), you buy the game once and the service is free. Only thing you can do is purchase things from the online store that consists of cosmetic items, XP boosters and server transfers.
Also, GW2 account system is not part of NCSoft's online account system nor do you have the NCLauncher to get/play GW2. GW2 has it own web account system and launcher that has nothing to do with the other NCSoft titles.
Most MMO's are changing their account systems to e-mail address logging, BLizzard is no exception either fromwhat I can tell.

A clannie got a error message on the end of the migration, now she cannot log in with the details she entered nor the pre details, even the email she used doesnt excist :(

Right your login is now the email on the account, this is why you need separate email accounts for all your L2 accounts now.
Your password is the same for the game,forums and NC account now. I've done one account out of my three and can't say I enjoy it.
Btw Sace.. and what about those that have 2 or more L2 accounts under the same email.
Are we forced to migrate.. or can we keep this stuff as-is?
There has to be a separate email address for each L2 account. An NC Account can have only 1 Lineage II account (and one Aion account) on it.
You are not forced to migrate at this time. If/when migration becomes required in the future we will post about it.
I went to set up migration on this account, via the Create New NC account link and type in my Display Name as Bosephine, and it says it is already taken. So do I need to select the second option to merge game accounts into an existing NC account? I entered the email registered on my NC account and it said incorrect try again.
I'm guessing the Display Name is reserved by our forum names? Or did someone name their game account bosephine (mine is completely different, as it's supposed to be.)

Something like:
If you now have all of your Aion® and Lineage® II accounts gathered in one place, using a single email address, prepare to get screwed and forced to create multiple new email addresses to be able to maintain all of your accounts.
Sounds more suitable, and a better reflection of the reality, don't you think?:D
The underlined part I'm pretty sure is very true though....
Because all we need to happily keep playing L2 is, ofcourse, to be able to spend our money in "a snap".:rolleyes:
