No. These sites are well known to give you virus/trojan/keylogger etc. Do Not even Visit them.
Your campaign is honorable and we all suffer from their spam messing up any reasonable use of chat but it won't stop them. I would not want to risk my ip being exposed to them.

It takes more than a visit to a website to infect a well protected pc, and it takes more than just a visit to a website to get the virus.
I have visited many adena selling websites over the years (up until the more recent spam time where they tell us what I am interested in - read on) It used to be a good guidestick as to how in-game item prices were heading.
depending upon what way the adena vs $ price was moving, you could be pretty sure of a couple of things:- how many bots were about, how much high end items were going to move up or down, and how many people had been banned (few vs many).
Now that the adena spammers are here, I dont need to look at the sites to get the price, they tell us that info. The way the bots work ingame now has messed up my guidestick now, so it's back to guesswork again.
And before anyone spouts off the accusations; no I haven't ever bought adena, and I don't intend to.
Haha that's awesome! I can't say I've ever been to an adena selling site so I don't know what they look like but its hilarious that they got annoyed when you gave them some of their own medicine! Its just too bad that it probably won't stop them from spamming :(
in the past I used to watch the prices also, that's not unheard of. It was strange when you watched the market. Base mat prices would double in price by the end of the week if there was a bot cleanup. Weapons and Armor would always be expensive especially if adena prices were up. That's what I'd notice on Chronos.
If you block them you shouldn't see anything from them in any chat form. I always set my chat tabs up to block out trade,shout and white chat except for All tab, That one shows everything except hero chat because God knows I get sick of reading the stupid bickering and the "oh yea I'm better than you" crap because I bot myself bragging.
The sad thing is that Saturday + Sunday the same bot been shouting in Giran all the time... Dunno if he is still doing his buisness cos i blocked him this morning.
2 Days of perma blablabla shouldn't be around ingame. Even if its on the weekend.
I simply have general, shout, trade and hero chat turned off since I have no use for them. Anybkdy I know of in game has me in their friendlist and can contact me via PM or clan chat.
Out of all of them I have found Hero chat to be just as annoying as adena spammers. :)

also it took less then 3 weeks to get 120 rmt spammers on my block list so erm wtb list increase to 1200, thanks ;)
I don't do either so it still does not effect me. Anything I sell is to the NPC shops because I can make more than enough adena doing it instead of hunting down player Buy shops. About the only thing I will sell to player shops are the event items and for that I use a low level toon and look in every town to see who is paying the most; before level 41 Gatekeepers are free. ;)
And on the slim chance I want to buy something I just walk around the player shops and look at their signs. I am never in any hurry to do anything in game so I don't care if it takes me an hour of wandering though the sea play player shops. For me part of the fun is checking out the player shops to see what they have. :D

Why can the spammers send a WHOLE CHATWINDOW full of advertisement every 10 seconds for HOURS/DAYS when the real players receive an "automatic chatban" when they PM back and forth with a friend and happen to be able to type quickly? That is so stupid.
Also, I play several chars, and there are usually several spammers PER TOWN. So when I log in one char in one town, I block a spammer, then I log in anothner char in that town and I have to block the spammer again, if I go to the next town I have to /block again - and the next day or day after, all of those spammers are replaced with new ones and I have to start over.
If it would *at least* be possible to choose to use the blocklist for all your characters on your account and not only for the current one, that would help a lot.

Would it be possible to make PVP open in town when a players repeat the same sentence over and over -more than 99 chara example- so party requests are not taken into account... Then we could just spam kill them :P

I don't think so, what about people shouting for classes for kartia? Sometimes it does take an hour to get what you need.

Right, the only thing we can do as players is not support the cause by not buying adena or services from these sites. I don't know how the bot monitoring system works so I can't comment. I do know when you hit the report button it builds a log on that player and after so much they are investigated. What determines the out come I have no idea

I didn't say you did buy from third parties.
Anyways this isn't the solution, they will be there and they will spam no matter how much you limit the chat. Anytime you limit or nerf something players are also punished. New players are punished with no chat until lvl 20, the rewards for adena were cut in the noobie quests.
This issue has been beaten millions of times and nothing has changed.

I have played many bad free MMO -my bad, i like to test them all- all with gold spammer: seems to be the new online trend anyway but not many as bad as this one...
2 spammers in Aden with their 6-7 lines sentences can really be a pain, chat goes so fast it can take up to ten minutes to correctly spell their names....

Well there are many good suggestions how to manage your chat tabs to filter them out as best you can. This issue can be argued all day and I'm frankly burnt out on it. They are there, they aren't going away and I don't expect NC to jump on it anytime soon. It's either deal with it or quit.

This all started when the game went free that's why. It wasn't like this before Free to play. If those spammers had to pay for an account every time they were banned they wouldn't be doing it.

I am using all chat filter possible and I know how to manage my chats, differently on different toons depending the use I have on them.
Only sad to see repeatively on forums that real annoyance have already been discussed and should be silented because posters already discussed them...

The majority of the posters about this issue are newcomers to F2P. You won't see members with older registration dates making threads about it. We have dealt with the issue in our ways for years. It got significantly worse when it went free.
This all started when the game went free that's why. It wasn't like this before Free to play. If those spammers had to pay for an account every time they were banned they wouldn't be doing it.
I came from private servers within transition to f2p, I have no idea how things worked before that. But if you say there wasn't such bots, I believe you :) There are actually bots everywhere in every-game, developers decide what, when and even if should they do anything with them.

Game went F2P, business decision, F2P players come, look and judge - kleenex generation- no time for half-thought games. cancel account, no cash shop purchase = lose for the company...
Obviously F2P model makes that they do not care much for the individuals, they care for the volume; which they will not get in current state of game when ppl can NOT find a party in Aden due to spam...

Dont judge new players or bash ppl from free server -as you always do- because they are the new blood and probaly the one that will finance the game you love in the future....

I LOVE the idea, but noone will help you do this as well. Losing battle my friend, may as well P in the wind, and dodge the rain shower if you can.
I have played many many MMOs as well, and bots do exist in all of them. The player base is at fault for purchasing from botters, this is a 100% given. This is the enabling factor and not many people are responsible for their own actions. Those that cheat will always lie.
I also agree that this game is Top-5 worst in my 20 + years of playing games as far as chat spam and inability to remove the cheater base. However, what I found to be unique in L2 was the fact I loved the game and entirely disliked the existing community. There is no chance for fun in L2 at the present time when 80% of the player base like to use 3rd party programs, and the remaining people left like to box their own toons.
So what does that leave us legit players? A ghost server, with no real way to know who is a legit player and who is not. There is currently no real way to party up and enjoy the game with the current Path to Awakening system. There is no way to expect 100% new players to go ahead and race to 85 in 5 days. Unreasonable expectations all around. For those of you that say new players are usually from PS, guess again. A lot of assumptions are being made from the older community. The game is bleeding a slow death and only a reversal of the current goings on with the amount of cheating going on can make this game fun to play again.
As for joining a clan, I simply chuckle at that proposal. Most of the large clans require you to be level 90 +, what a sad paradox Lineage 2 has become.

I agree so much with the first part of that sentence but may not agree with the 2nd part, I am on Bartz and today I do not want to spend time lvling or playing so i spent an hour chit-chatting with player I came to know: I am a bear and I do not speak with many people.
chat ended up: "ok, you tell me whenener you are ready, I will guide you how to get your apo weapon, blablabla", very helpfull player.... name of that player is A......
So from my experience, i would disagree as well, many helpful players can be found in this game and it is not bot only territory, genuine players with a big heart can be found in game as well, on probably every server...
Am a baby 86 - soon 87 - and found many helpful people even on a server that has reputation to be empty..........

Well since you can no longer delvl and you can chat while dead, I dont think the spammers would care much.

This is the answer; unfortunately the people who buy from the spammers are as likely to ignore the other rules.

It would help a LITTLE if the game was free to play, but still had a nominal ($15/$30) to buy in the first place.
If the spammers lost 20 accounts every day, that would make it harder for them to justify so many spammers. It could push the price of adena up and further kill their trade.
Unfortunately, NCSoft aren't likely to go down that route, and as for the email login system, I can almost see the farmer/bots signing up all those extra hotmail accounts right now in preparation.

I don't expect any help, as I said initially, I was bored and decided to have a little fun with them. It was fun, but it's really hard to think of ways of putting new user names in their live chat to spam them on. :) and do it quickly.

Our requirements for joining our clan (level 10, 26 skills some level 2) are simple:-
No botting,
No trashtalking others,
No PKing (sure fight people, engage in PvP, but no blatant harrassment).
Have fun.
If you are in academy and under level 70, we want you do do at least one level a week (easy huh?) or we'll kick you out to make space.

Knowing how the system of administration of Lineage 2, I can state that if an administrator would take the job you want to delete the spam, could actually do it without problems and give real problems for spammers
1 - Go to Aden city
2 - Take the name of a character spamming
3 - Check that name and all who share that Ip
4 - Ban all accounts and characters from that IP and that IP
5 - Kick all characters on that ip. Server released
Will understand that what I say you ONLY need 5 to 10 minutes per server ....

We note the Ip banned and waited. If the next day from a Ip semilar have problems, the ban as well, and if ever we find that the corresponding a Ip banned same rank (same ISP) Ban the IP range and again Server Released.
NCsoft has all the tools to prevent spam. Do not want to use them is another matter.
I understand that it doesn't take the spammers much time to replace their shout bot with a new one.
But what i can't understand is simply the fact that a bot shouts from Friday - Monday without getting baned.
I know weekend and so on, but most players play during the weekend. And it just look rly horrible if you see the next day the same bot still doing his shouts....

You can block all the spam is very simple, only go to CHAT OPTIONS and in Chat Filtering disable trade & General, in CHAT OPTIONS activate all the options and add the chain of characters w w w . (initialize) and the names or words most imporants in the spam and ready, no more SPAM for you.
NOW can read all the regular messages whitput SPAM.

I normally don't bother with shout, I have my tabs set up on clan and party chats so it won't show shout, if I go to all tab yeah I can see it,but I have no use for it. I ignore it

Same here. I like to play quite a few different toons -- see sig below :P (and those are only the awakened ones) -- and it does get frustrating having to deal with so much block and then list clean up on many different toons.
You have to do it daily but is simple, on bartz, u go in town with chout trade activated,bots begin, u stop chat, so u can see them clear,see the boots block them,start the chat again, they are most of the time 2 or 3.
This should take around 1 minute, not more, i do it everyday, to have chat clear, but recently after i block them, i received pm from them same adena spam.

perhaps we should make it a server event - for one hour every week everyone goes to their website(s) and spams the hell out of them. The player who receives the most impressive/inventive/shocking death threat wins. :)

I still pop in to their servers to give them a taste of their own medicine from time to time. (usually whilst waiting for some code to compile at work) - and it's still strangely gratifying.
perhaps we should make it a server event - for one hour every week everyone goes to their website(s) and spams the hell out of them. The player who receives the most impressive/inventive/shocking death threat wins. :)

I was bored tonight, so I made a long sentence of abuse for the adena spammers,
went onto each of the websites they advertise, and clicked on the live-chat box.
"I know you guys are trying to make money - but the continual ***** spam is just acting like ****.
shout for sales sure, but stop the ***** continuous spam you useless ***** ***** *****
At least let us see enough player chat to play the game you are making money from.

When the operator came online, i hit them with continuous spam (Ctrl-V paste my prepared statement). over and over and over and over.
They very quickly get angry, and I think they are cursing me back, but I spam too quickly to read them.
One website in particular has threatened to track my IP, and hunt me down and kill me.
Now that's really funny, what with dynamic IP and all that jazz.
I think we should all start a reverse spam campaign on the spammer companies.
