Ok,I just awakened my dwarf into a Wynn and I'm just wondering what weapon I should get...I see tons of people using Bows but I did read in the next patch that Wynn will get a penalty for using a bow, I cant remember if that means we cant use bows anymore or just a slight penalty. I plan on letting my summons do most the killing.
So any advice...should I go pure robes and mage weapon or LA and mage weapon. Generally whats most Wynn's using? oh and tats also plz?
Bow + leathers for cougars. Mage weapon + robes for reapers.
However, I don't see the need for carrying around 2 sets all the time. I just stick with Bow (focus)+ enhancement leathers. I use cougars 80% of the time.
I haven't really decided on tats yet. Some say int others say str. I would probably go str seeing how cougars rock so much though.
Also, are you more pve or more pvp?
P.S. I don't know anything about the next update. Rumors? I don't really care. Live in the now. Plus, I think we are a ways away with that anyway.
There will be no penalty regarding bows in the next patch. Several fansite are using quotes and mistranslations from other fansite, changing it meaning.
Anyway as you guess, Bow for ++ P.Atk, and Retributer (2h mage) for aoe'ing with reaper. Most of the time I use cougar except in kartia :D
only nerf coming for us is that if we equip crossbow we get less casting speed (same for bow as its now) so no nerf. If you got money try to buy crossbow and do some crazy enchant and after glory days come you will have cheap kick *** weap :)
For reapers use magic weap (I prefer one handed) and use sigil/shield (depens on situations, when you meet some same lvl dagger without knights harmony and shield you are almost everytime dead Wynn)
But we already have low atk speed and cast speed with bow, I havent tested with crossbow since I only use bow but even if we get cast speed penalty with bow i still don't care, i only use bow with cougars.
So I got LA (mentee stuff) with ele's and a bow (damage) and a mage (2handed blunt) w/acumen. Im happy so far, loving to DD output....even solo'd a lvl 80 RB in 4 inutes lol. Im alittle worried i went the wrong direction in armor though, ive heard alot of people say i should have gotten heavy and even alot say robes all the way. I went LA for 2 reasons....its the inbetween set and if i do a sub/ dual it will be an archer or dagger. I like the LA set also cause if i pvp i'll last alittle longer than in robes :D. My biggest worry is trying to find a party when they expect me to have both robes and LA......:o
You should have gotten heavy and robe. Immortal armor is very cheap, wont be hard to buy both sets... there is no point to use light for one simple reason and you said it yourself, pdef.
With Light armor you'll have a little bit less p.def than heavy, but you'll have 4k HP more and a bit more p.atk (before Tauti, heavy armor was better because light armor mastery didn't give you the hp bonus). Robes are nice for pvp if you use reapers, for pve with reapers won't be so noticeable because you're going to use aoe magic with 2-3 hit mobs.
Use a bow for cougars, and a magic weapon for reapers (I use 1h with acumen + shield/sigil for pvp and 2h with empo for pve)

I've never been kicked/asked for my sets on a party, in fact I've only one set atm, but you'll hate the people that will tell you which pets you have to use.

Bow should always be Focus. Damage scales terribly.
Mage weapon should always be Acumen as Empower scales worse than Damage and is a waste of adena to put on as a primary SA, for the most part. As a Secondary SA it makes sense on Summoner since Mana Up is not all that necessary with How well a Wynn can Regen their and their pets' mana.
Buster + Sigil isn't far behind Retributer due to the P.Crit differential and USS; the pets still auto-attack. I'd never use a Caster, though.
Wind Attribute generally best for PvE pre-9x but Holy works just as well. After that I guess Fire would be best, if you're trying to save adena. Can always change it later with Mentee Coin.
Is it not logic to take Fire on buster / retributer ? x)
Wind is better than Holy for PvE up until low 90s, and it's easy to change your weapon attribute thanks to Mentor Coin. There's only deficits to going Holy over Wind > Fire from 85 to 90. Above 90 there are more MOBs with Dark Attack and that's when Holy becomes a lot better.
PvP basically doesn't matter below at least 93 or so at this point in the expansion as all the people worth fighting for for the things that matter are already at or approaching 95+. Damage is way off when you're low level, especially servitor damage (they are already disadvantaged by mechanics) - as are landrates on things like Marks and debuffs.
LA is generally better than heavy unless you group in places where you take a lot of melee damage or solo places where your pets are taking harder hits. Stacking the higher P.Def with Knight Harmony on top of USS helps a lot for stuff like soloing Harnak 1 (with a Boxed Iss, of course).
For soloing in fields like Altar/Swamplands generally I use Reapers in Light + Bow Setup, in fact I can't think of any place below 90 where I'd actually solo in Robes + Retributer with Reapers. They tend to offer more XP/Hour than cougars cause they don't have to run nearly as far to engage MOBs and their crits are still high (I generally use Transformations for soloing in those easy fields, so my reapers have like 7.2k P.Atk with Immortal/Requiem equipment). For places like the low side of Fairies if it isn't packed I just put the Cougars on defend break the cases and let them go to town. Cure and heal when necessary. I don't use transformations there obviously since I have to cast summoner skills.
At the lower levels you can do over 2% an hour on Summoner Soloing in Altar of Evil if you get one of the best spots there. If you have 7 transformations, you can be in transformation pretty much indefinitely while leveling. The extra P.Atk really improves your kill and leveling speed.
