Official Korean Poll : How do you want the Awakened system reworked ?

General Discussion Started Last reply 123 posts
Hello,

Today Nam Gung-gon, the creator of Tauti update and a member of the Korean Joint Production Deparment, asked the Korean Lineage II players how they want the class system to be reworked.
18th August, and actually 474 Korean players voted

You can see the official page here (http://lineage2.plaync.co.kr/promotion/yourvoice2012/forum/index).

As Elmar, known as Yidao on those forums, pointed out here (http://boards.rochand.com/viewtopic.php?p=13069#p13069) the Korean players can choose between 4 options :

Option 1 - Blue Bar : Keep the current Awakening system, and add more diversity due to racial traits
Option 2 - Red Bar : Keep the current Awakening system, but let the players being able to learn again 3rd class skills (nothing about 2nd class skills)
Option 3 - Green Bar : Divide the Awakened classes again into 34 different classes
Option 4 - Yellow Bar : Add diversity by creating new classes.

This poll will terminate the
After reading that, you may ask yourself what could we do about it. Basically, we can do nothing from here to vote on this page. But we can vote here, and express our opinion regarding this poll with the same options they are. With some luck, Cryo would be able to forward the results of this poll to the Korean Production Department, so they could add them to their datas and have a better look about it.
It's not the first time the Korean developers are taking the opinion of Lineage II players. In the month of May, they talked directly to player in the Ong PC Cafe (http://www.inven.co.kr/board/powerbbs.php?come_idx=390&l=961). This talk lead to important changes made in the Echo updates

For your information, SAM made the same poll on Toushijing, the most important taiwanese site about the Lineage 2 (http://lineage2.plaync.com.tw/).

Vote now, and let's the voice of the players of NCWest be heard !

I haven't read the news on rochand yet so thanks for posting it in detail here for us and thanks for Elmar for provide it.

I'm glad they take this in a serious way and are willing to not make more "surprises" and actually go along to what the players need.

For my opinion on the matter, i'd most likely new classes being added (as i took a fancy to 2 of the current ones), by basing on the old ones as main build for new.

It seems tho the green bar is winning so far, let's see how it develops.
I'd prefer seeing new awakened classes, but dividing the awakened classes back into the original 34 isn't a bad deal either.
It would certainly promote more random parties over constants. The more people in a party the better the bonus should be if it was like before. I guess I'll roll with whatever they decide.
Divide the Awakened classes again into 34 different classes

but on a side note this would only work i think if party size was increased back to 9 slots in a party
them should spilit the classes again like you know there is 3 kind of othell rogue human, elf, delf and it would go like this

___ Awaken Superior Adventurer
/
Othell Rogue --> Awaken Superior Ghost Hunter
\___
Awaken Superior Wind Raider

if you know wat i mean ;D
I would have to vote for them to divide the Awakened classes back into those 34 different classes we loved.

And if thine wing offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one wing, rather than having two wings to be cast into hell fire.
Lineage II proud to announce the Panda Kamael Monk!!
Lol.
I've got my doubts about 34 classes, but the more the better for a less boring gameplay.
Personally I'd keep the awakened classes, but I'd also bring back the old ones and beef them up to be on the same playing field as the awakened ones.

I had second thoughts about splitting them. I think they should keep the awakened and add additional classes.

For instance:

-Overlord was a very unique class, why not give him his own awakening?
-Two Kamael classes were unique in their own right as well, the Soul Breaker and Judicator. Why not have awakenings for these classes too?
-Split the summoner classes and give their race unique pets. I'm totally down for this idea!
-Split the Dagger class into two different awakenings. One reliant on crit damage and the other on crit rate.
-Keep the buffer and healer classes consolidated (Aeore/ISS)
-Keep the tank classes consolidated.
-Split the DD classes into AoE and Single Target respectively, give them balanced benefits for each weapon type, that way Tyrants can still feel like Tyrants, and Destroyers like Destroyers, Dreadnaughts like Dreadnaughts, etc etc. So Tyrr Warriors would specialize in one or the other.

Ol was both healer and buffer (as well as crowd controller..so you're asking for the impossible if u wanna keep an OL while having just 1 healer and 1 buffer.

Tank should be split. The current one is boring as hell, Need hybrid!

About Tyrr, it might not look like it but this class is a destroyer at high lvls, it has insane dmg with both skills and normal hits. They should focus on making a Tyrant tho.
there has been talks by the koreans before about adding new classes to diversify the existing ones so if those would be based on some of the old classes that would make sense to me :)

also these talks went quite far already as it was decided that based on your awakening ceremonial weapon you could return either to previous class or use it to re awaken if indeed new types would be available based on your old main class..

let's see how this will work out and it would be really kool if Cyro does indeed share the results of this poll with his Korean counter part ^^
look at my point of view.

WHY THE HELL THEY TOOK OUR GIANT SCROLLS, IF THEY TURN US INTO GIANT TYPE WARRIOR, WHY WE CANT KEEP OUR PREVIOUS GIANT SKILLS?????

they nerffff all classes with this ********.

Ah, you made a very good point about the OL.

How would you split the Tank? Would it be based on skill set or stat type?

Well, the current tank is a raw type who sucks in dmg and transfers back with periodic reflects.

The old tank i liked (SK) was the hybrid who had ranged magic for disabling oponents and kill them through DoTs + high atk power, i'd prefer a second tank based on this: few poisons and ranged debuffs, constant debuffing but not OP through cubics like SK, use mana as an actual shield :D instead of HP for short period of times (arcane barrier) and also short period of burst dmg since it's a more offensive tank. It could have one skill that ignores CP to remind the old touch of death ( i think that touch of death would be way OP coz CP is too big).

+1 to that. I loved playing an SK back in the day. I wouldn't mind awakening into a Tank just to play this setup. :D

Why do you have to be so hostile? Is it because I don't agree with yours? Why not relax and post what you think is a good idea, because it might be. However no one will know until you open your mouth. However if you have no ideas, why not keep to yourself instead of posting things like this?
Dividing the classes back into 34 separate awakened classes would take too much time for balance and development. Since we've already started down this road, just add more new and unique classes instead of bringing back old ones.

Add a few classes, maybe split some into two types, but going back to 34 is a bad idea. In fact, I really only think we need two more types, a class that is a Gladi/Tyrant, and a debuffer. No reason to split anything else.

Whether people want to admit it or not, the awakening system is probably the most balanced this game has ever been. Sure some classes are stronger than others but the margin is much smaller than in the past.
In fact, I really only think we need two more types, a class that is a Gladi/Tyrant, and a debuffer.

I was thinking OLs could awaken into a debuffer type class, however I realized that summoners and ISS already work as debuffers in their own right. A pure debuffer might be unnecessary, but who knows, the devs might have additonal ideas that could make it unique. Your idea is for the most part in sync with mine. :D
I think 34 of the old classes with revamped skills would be cool, but I dont see the devs wanting to do that. As stated balance becomes and issue and so fourth. However I also think only 2 new classes as stated above this post with a gladi/tyrant type and debuffer is to few.

I think 2 of each class would be ideal.

2 ISS types. One Buffer one debuffer. Pretty self explanatory. Give the debuffer a few key buffs, not nessary for everyday use, but give a clear advatange when used correctly. Like BR Currently

2 Archer types for example. One like we have now that mixes skills with crits ect and one that is maybe just an F1 archer like most archers where used to (Downsides? No aoe skills maybe lower con, something simple)

2 Mage types. One all out class cannon mage kinda like we have now and one mage that doubles as a DD/Debuffer. Currently there's no use for just a "buffer" class in pvp. Buffs are rarely canceld in comparison to the old days of hardcore pvp that I'm and I'm sure many others are used to (Cancel sticks, Cancel for mages, ToD, Cancel daggers, Insane crusher?) So my above idea doesn't really work unless you add something like this.

2 Summoners. Dunno how you would really split these up. Different pets forsure, seeing the same 3pets are boring. No ideas for this come to mind atm other then that tho

2 Dagger classes at least. Mix it up. Small changes like the archer class, as the old daggers never had HUGE diversity. Make an othel rouge and Ninja assasian, or somthing. Like the rouge we have now and then the new class could be alot weaker in the con department as well. Give it a few new debuffs that the other dagger doesnt have. Make it fast, idk

2 Healers. Need I explain? An EE and Bishop was a great combo, SE bishop. Your choice, somthing like this

2 Tanks. I like the Idea about the SK type idea posted above.

2 Warriors. Idk what to do about this either. I miss my glad so im all for a another glad class but then you need to modify the current one imo.

tl;dr version.

16 total classes, 2 of each current class.
Dividing the classes back into 34 separate awakened classes would take too much time for balance and development. Since we've already started down this road, just add more new and unique classes instead of bringing back old ones.

Thus a new variation of the doombringer and soulhound are born. It will just lead to one of the new classes being OP to get people to reroll and play it, and next thing you know 2/3 of the server is playing that class. No thanks.

Open world PvP and diversity made this game awesome, they should have never consolidated all these classes into one genotype, it was stupid to begin with.
I have to vote for 52 classes and name them after all the wonderful flavors Baskin Robbins has to offer!!!

That's why if they decide to make several new classes, that they just add them in all at once. This gives everyone a wide range of choices off the bat, and you won't see too many of the same type from the get go. If they only make 2 though, then yeah, we might have this problem.

Thing is, priority needs to be balance anyway.
**** I don't care what you vote. Just give me the list, in numerical order, telling me which race/class will be the most overpowered so I can start leveling it now.

Just in case, to avoid confusion, the First race/class listed would be the most OP.
Thank You

P.S.
I also expect a Stone of Destiny after the changes happen.
IMO the awakened classes are totally boring. My vote is on the good old 34.
Would be great if they (NCSoft) would erase (exterminate, kill, destroy, put into oblivion, etc.) the 8 awakened classes, and give us 34 classes:

1 master of aoe
1 master of dual blades
1 master of two handed swords and two handed blunts
1 master of fists
1 master of the ancient sword
1 master of crit rate with daggers
1 master of crit dmg with daggers
1 master of balance in the use of daggers
1 master of the rapier
1 master of crit rate with bows
1 master of crit dmg with bows
1 master of balance in the use of bows
1 master of the crossbow
1 master in defensive tanking and healing
1 master in ofensive tanking and summoner
1 master in defensive tanking and defensive cubics
1 master in ofensive tanking and ofensive cubics
1 master of fire magic
1 master of water magic
1 master of wind magic
1 master of the necromantic arts
1 master in the sumoning of cat spirits
1 master in the sumoning of unicorn spirits
1 master in the sumoning of demonic spirits
1 master in ofensive dances
1 master in defensive songs
1 master in specific solo buffs
1 master in general group buffs
1 master in clan buffs and disabling magic
1 master in healing
1 master in healing and defensive oriented buffs
1 master in healing and ofensive oriented buffs
1 master artisan
1 master spoiler
And do anyone care about OUR opinion?
Thank you anyone for taking time to answer this poll and share your opinion. I encourage anyone to take 2sec and vote for this poll, the more votes we get the higher is the chance to see our results forward to the Development team !
I would love to play storm screamer again, this Feoh is just not as fun for me. I would vote to divide the classes to 34 again.

It may cause an issue with the stones of destiny and so on (dwarf healers etc) but that could be fixed by giving those players an option to roll back to their old class or learn all the non awakened skills of the pre-awakening class of the human. (if a maestro uses a stone of destiny to become an Aeore, they would be able to learn all the skills the Cardinal had and have the same stats as a Cardinal)

also IMO: Keep the fast paced XP system to 85 and level cap 99 (for people who will want to reroll)
I would like the option to awaken into one of the 8 classes but specify in one specific class type. IE. awaken into a Tyrr warrior but learn skills of one class like the gladiator or titan etc.
I had second thoughts about splitting them. I think they should keep the awakened and add additional classes.

For instance:
-Keep the buffer and healer classes consolidated (Aeore/ISS)

I would not mind seeing the healer class separated into two. One more for assist heals/mp (like EE/SE was) and main healer (like cardi). Take away rebirth from aeroe or at least make it back to the rebirth skill EE's get at 83+ which only refilled the EE every 15 minutes. I absolutely loved playing my EE and would be all over having that type of play style back. EE had to focus to manage mp and since you didn't have any balance life heal to fall back on as main healer in some parties really was intense in only using major heal and chain heal. Good times, good times.
I think that the poll is flawed in that there could be a fifth option that considered adding new classes (hybrid tank, debuffer, tyrant/gladiator and aoe warrior) AND giving some variety with more racials without having to go back to the old 34. There's no need to have 3 different summoner classes if they can make the summons go according to the race, and so on.
I prefer something new, as a game with 6-8-10 classes but having different builds per class, so, if you are tired of a build just try to respec to another build, much better than creating another character from 0 after realizing that you don't like the class you have chosen.

A system like GW2 and Archeage(a very exiting build system, there are MANY possibilities).
They need to build up around the Race skills.
Right now the strongest/most played race is orc, and dark elf...because they have the best racials, followed by Kamael. and for healer elf.

They hosed humans...no race skills at all (unbind sucks, and isn't a skill, it charm for awakened).

A pet for summoners based on Race. (should go for also for orc, and dwarf if they star of destiny class chance)

They need to make it so all races has lesser celestial...instead of just the 2/3 races that currently has it.

And I'd like to see 2 new classes.
An aura base enchanter (party type)
And a Mass AoE debuffer. Maybeing using fist or duel weapons.

And on a unrelated note, I want them to massive boost shooter so it's not so nerfed compared to thrower!!
I see that the 2nd and 3rd option are almost the same. so, I vote for the second, make the players choose 3rd class skill again BUT, I suggest something more.

Make ALL chars relearn all they skill 1st,2nd and 3rd with some balances like:

All iss enchanter type, only re-learn debuff/magic/toggle/physical, no buff type skill (I mean, dance/songs, paagrio, chant and hierophant buffs). With these, the party can stay in 7ppl max (all enchanters have the same buffs, buy with diferent debuffs to assist).

All tank type, with the same cubic/summon (the lion and the life/smart cubic), so this will help to make a little more balanced the diferents tanks.

Feoh/tyrr/wynn/yull/othell (the DD ones) with all of their owns skill, even the selfbuff/debuff type, cuz, they are DD *** well, they need to be diferent, with diferent strategies/play stiles. Maybe not with the lethal skill ones (deadly roulette ie).

Aeore, these class are the moost OP since GOD, so they dont need anything at all XD.

Remember that, awaken classes was a way to balance the classes. So if they make again 34 classes with the new stats, set, *****, etc, the umbalance bettewen classes will come again.
In the meantime Innova Europe makes the same poll:
https://forum.4game.com/showthread.php?t=11830&p=91961
(Special thanks to RapidBlades for the link!)

They use the same questions as NCKorea, Laby and SAM in Taiwan, so it will be easy for the developers to add our numbers to the ones they get from the Koran players. This should ensure that each vote counts :)

A lot of the comments here are about new classes, or alternatives to going all the way back to 34 classes. Before Cryo passes this on to Korea on August 18, someone (Sace?) should type up the comments into an easier readable summary, "unifying" similar suggestions into single points :)
Well honestly except the "relearn of the 3rd class skills" option, all options are a walkable way and good.

I did vote for the Old Classes, but I'm not sure, that it was the best option. I have Othell Rogue, Iss Enchanter and Aeore Healer chars, I do like how the Othell Rogue exist now also comfortable to control an Iss Enchanter too.

Would be fine to know, when the developers take their decision about these polls and how they will introduce the changes.

The currently skills are much more better developed ones as the old ones, so wouldn't be good idea to remove them. Yes some AoE skills makes laggs, but at them would be enough exchange the animation of them to an older skill animation.

This is really interesting, it is sure, that a lots of players will interesting about it in the future too when these changes will release, so maybe we will can calculate with the full servers again:D
The last thing NCsoft needs to do is follow the people saying make this 34 classes...I'm so tired of year after year the same ppl complaining about class balance, when we get it (to a degree) in the form of 8 unifying classes. now everyone is complaining about not enough classes...blah blah blah...

Lets not take a steep backwards by listening to the 30% of ppl that never post, never comment, and just vote with multiple account just to troll the out come of the polls.
(IE: server reset times for time zones...I bet half the stable ppl playing now would like new times, as opposed to the 300-400k that quit between the time of the poll and now.)

Adding new classes would be great.
Adding skills to existing classes based on race would be amazing.(as long as they don't over do it to dark elfs/kamaels!!)
I'd like to see more AoE skills.
And they need to expand on the current system.(add more classes, not change to old L2) (no tyrr uses fist over 2hsword, and pole)
And remove overpowered skills from existing classes (hell bind: looking @ you!)

they really need to do something about powering up humans, and elfs....as they tend to be the weakest race wise. I know when I was a bishop trying to get parties was next to impossible because everyone wanted EE/SE...and bishop didn't get good until 76 when they could take on skills from the other 2 classes.
There's no need to make another class zerg like before. Simply add more racial skills and boost the current ones stats. For example, boost the DE's dmg by 10-15% and LE's evasion and atk speed by the same amount. Give some more racial skills (like 3-4 more, not 20) and there you go. Thus there will be some diversity, but also balance in oly. Otherwise CB oly will become highly abusable again.
I'd like to see more AoE skills.

MOAR AOE?

The game has too much AOE right now.

Leathalarcher, those stats boost are a joke and carry many flaws, p atk> atk speed in the current awakening system.
That's not balance, that's lazy thinking, not a solution.
well, If ncsoft make a nice ballance btwen classes yes, make it like before. Adventurer with focus power and no focus death was lame... honestly... if u like play with dagger, be forced to play with elfs was horrible.
this post from d00d on rochand forum made quite some sense to me hence am re posting it here:

Race diversity is the only practical / viable means of moving forward.

Ncsoft has a perfectly good avenue of letting people become distinct through heavily developing race based skills.

The best thing they could do is add a talent tree for each race with 30 or so skills along different branches as you level. Possibly with awakened class synergies as you develop the tree.

either way of the outcome of this poll it's still up to the Korean dev team to fit it into their existing plans and honestly I doubt we will go back completely to the old system, if anything it might be an hybride like give back a few old classes + add 2 new + improve & create new racials.

also if anything from political polls have learned me is that they could even chose to ignore certain aspects but as that would be counter productive am sure we'll get something out of it that we'll regard as an improvement over the existing restricted awakening system.
The last thing NCsoft needs to do is follow the people saying make this 34 classes...I'm so tired of year after year the same ppl complaining about class balance, when we get it (to a degree) in the form of 8 unifying classes. now everyone is complaining about not enough classes...blah blah blah...

Except everybody is exactly the same, and nothing is going to change that. So unless they add actual active skills as racials(like say mirage/counterattack/dodge for human/de/elf, something that makes races clearly different, like the way daggers used to be for ex.) and several of them, I don't see any classes getting spectacularly diverse like they used to be.

Lets not take a steep backwards by listening to the 30% of ppl that never post, never comment, and just vote with multiple account just to troll the out come of the polls.

And I can think of a lot more quality players that quit after this stupid update than ones that came in.

Adding new classes would be great.

1. Agreed to an extent
2. Also agreed
3. Hell no, I wish they'd get rid of all of these extravagant aoe animations, the game runs roughly enough as it is.
4. This is what happens when they make weapons with different SA capabilities, and one or two are clearly better options than the rest. I can think of more OP skills than hell binding.

they really need to do something about powering up humans, and elfs....as they tend to be the weakest race wise. I know when I was a bishop trying to get parties was next to impossible because everyone wanted EE/SE...and bishop didn't get good until 76 when they could take on skills from the other 2 classes.

I now realize that this is a troll post because nobody ever looked for an ee/se over a bishop, unless the area you are hunting didn't require a healer.

Interesting stuff here :) Let's spread a word about it and hope it gets heard. The more votes we gather the higher chance we get to change this system. I'd want current classes to be divided into two separate ones and giving them some unique (or racial) skills.

Thumbs ^!

edit: or maybe they could make olympiad ranking class and race specific. For example make orcs and kamaels unable to go healer class and make humans, elf, d.elf healers to claim hero status for their specific race. Like in old times
Bring back the diversity of having all of the old classes but in awakened state. I miss my old class. Grand Ghvatari , Hell Knight , Paladin etc this is what Lineage 2 was all about. If that happened id be one of the most happiest L2 players :) Also more competition in the Hero area. More heroes , more chances !

I'm so glad you best response to what I said was my join date.
Want to take a steep back?
Look up player: NoleRalh, d34dly, Raina, Matsumoto, and god knows how many other accounts I've had/used since this game went live in '04. I started, and played off an on for the last 8 years. (and for some reason keep coming back) Really I wasn't trying to say anything, because I wanted to end all the crap that I had along the way over the years from posting here.

For u to know MR. post-count/join date. My previous account Raina, that I created when GoD went live I am unable to post from it. So I used my second account so I could respond to this post.

For future reference, don't attack other players because of their join date!

And yes, there needs to be more AoE...PvE is all about AoE not single target mobs..Why do u think SoA, Fairies, Orbis, and gillotine are so popular? cause they are all about AoEing! ppl even pull massive groups of mobs in places like GoG, Harnak, PoD. The sooner you realize AoE > single target, is when you'll get better at L2.

Hell bind (summoner one also) are OP....when a Feoh can drop you in 4-5 seconds, and you can't do a thing about it, that's pretty OP! Not to mention the fact that it buggs out, and u have to restart just to get your REZ options, or sometimes u die in the air, and you stay in the air...often causing extra respawn lag, as your character has to do extra functions just to stand up, and you have to wait on your bar to "un-gray."

As to your point 3. AoE animations such as Brilliant heal is 1 of the reasons why sieges are so darn laggy! if they added a option to turn of skill animations it might actually clear up some of the lag ppl suffer in Mass PvP.

Lastly, I'm not trolling nor is my post a troll.
When GoD released, and I was trying to get parties, I had to make my own, or else I would almost never get a party cause everyone wanted a SE/EE over Bishop, because they don't carry buffs like VR/emp/clarity/or recharge skill. Only after 76, all the healers are basically the same. After awakening the defining factor is your base stats.
I'm so glad you best response to what I said was my join date.

Wasn't calling you out on your join date, was merely pointing out the irony that you were calling out new posters on an Aug 2012 account with now 3 posts.

My group used to aoe GoG upper, now we aoe orbis. Don't need to say more on that subject.

Idk what kind of groups you were trying to get into were nobody wanted a cardi, especially after they implemented the skill transfer. If we were on the same server I would have invited you up to tully's.
What's time for the next update? So many players have gone out GOD, they will come back if the new update launched.
Well I will give my opinion about my current class and Idea of it so i'm Wynn summoner.

Wynn Summoners: (Arcana Lords, Elemental Masters and Spectral Masters)
I have always played as Elemental Master before the big awakening system, why did I choose the EM? because I like the AOE and the Spirit of the Unicorn, used to give strong damage also i liked the way that removes the WW and so on.

I dont like much the idea of going back so maybe they should keep the current system but make specializations to each class, ie. the cubics, the warrior bane/mage bane/cast. from each old class should be reworked, i mean we used the have 3 cubics to just 1... and the servitors need like more rework, as many of you have say its so boring to see the same 3 pets for everyone, they should bring back the old from each race, CATS/UNICORNS AND SHADOWS, the balance would be same stats for every diferent summon but with diferents forms (as i say cats/uni/shadows).

My vote goes to:
Keep the current Awakening system, and add more diversity due to racial traits
Laby and I are still working on the translation, but as it looks now, a lot of the class diversification will be done via old 3rd class skills (which probably includes 2nd class skills). In Korea only few players made use of the Stone of Destiny to Awaken to something else as what their 3rd class would have stipulated (I myself know only of one Kamael, who Awakened to Healer). The situation on our servers is different. When Cryo forwards this poll to Nam Gung-gon on Sunday or Monday, he should absolutely include statistics about how many of the presently still active players have used the Stone of Destiny (he should be able to find out from the server logs). It is highly possible that the developers are not aware of this problem.
What i want ofcourse,is my necro back.

But if i vote for third skills, necro wouldnt be a necro without pet/transfer pain, while sts got all his strong skills as 3d class.

I dont believe in bringing back the 34 old classes, this worked only in the old game when servers were full,solo-duo areas were the main areas and we didnt need to have all classes and full partys but we were playing mixing what we had.

I dont want to see again the top partys with boxed sws and active ee,while the medium partys would cry again for sws and ee and the rest will be lost.

Another poll with people's choice of which classes to bring back ingame would be nice.

So,what i vote?
what boxed sws, there are still plenty ex swm around, at least in my clan there are, that will love to get back their old stuff.. in particular song of warding & Battle Whisper :)

and no I'm not just talking about myself.. if bard class get's a come back pvp versus mages will be much more balanced as with song of warding/rhythm of magic the GoD mdef nerf will be undone.

With the way devs want to redirect this, i wouldn't be surprised if sws could get song of warding and bd get an atk dance, which dont stack with each other =d

Draecke's humor, next we will hear is the comeback of warlords, there are plenty around. :)
hey! I was warlord and enjoyed it ^^ Revamped overpowered dread - sounds as good revenge! :D

haha well it's true though.. got like 5 ex SwM in SH ;)

The only problem I see with going through with this is that some races are going to get some pretty OP skills compared to others. Take Warriors for example, Kamaels will end up with rush impact and mass disarm, meanwhile duelists were pretty weak with what they got from 76-85. That's just assuming you can only take 3rd class skills, but regardless I think it's a step in the right direction.

edit: This is, of course, assuming you could take any 3rd class skills. I'm sure there will be stipulations to go along with this even if it was implemented into an update.

If you carefully look at the images you can see shillien templars Lightning strike on the pic..and cubics are mentioned (life cubic) so you can most likely choose 2nd class skills...Duelist had disarm/war cry/duelist spirit/ranged AOE/ celestial (vs burst DPS).
Not to be a Negative Nancy, but unless the balance is done very well, this kind of thing will just lead to the same type of overpowered cookie cutter build that has plagued the game since day one. They really should reconsider this backward step (although i can understand it as it doesn't require a lot of new skill creation) and continue to move foward. Racial diversity was never balanced in the first place in my opinion.

So we went over 100 votes. Nice ! I still invite anyone to vote, the more number we have, the best is our chance to impact the developper. Our voice could be heard too, let's confirm we are not rude barbarians but players who wish the best for the game :)

Meanwhile, we are translating with Elmar an article from Nam Gung-gon from the Lineage 2 Development Department. It's about the class diversification with Sigel Knight as example. It's 60 % translated (pics too) and you can read it here :

This sounds really exciting! If this all turns out okay, the creativity of players will generate a ton of different playstyles and builds that can really bring a good challenge in PVP.

:D
Adding diversity through racial traits is the worst idea of all.

If your race will determine your characters growth in a very visible way, than the freedom of creating your favourite race/class combo will be restricted.

It is already pretty **** hard to become an orc Feoh, but if it becomes also useless, because someone in Korea decides that orcs get only racial traits that boost their physical capabilities, than I will have nothing left to play for.
Why? Because elves and darkelves (or some other race) will surely get boosted in magic, rendering my Poor Orc Feoh Wizard an inferior character.

The only good thing about the current system is that, even if through hard work, it allows any race to become any class (Kamael sadly excluded), and all races perform reasonably well in any class. This allows limited diversity and total freedom (except for Kamael, sadly). IF the freedom of becoming an effectively good character with any race/class combo or the freedom of becoming any class with any race will be taken away I will leave this game as I did, when sub-classes were limited in level 80, while main class could get to 85.

If the goal is diversity, than they should create more classes or find out a way to specialize already existing classes. Reverting to 34 classes would certainly increase diversity, but it would also make balance really hard to maintain.

In my opinion the most important thing they should do is to make every class available to every race, even if it is only possible through subclassing (you only value things you worked for.)

They should, on the other hand, avoid giving too much importance to the character race. This should mainly be a cosmetic factor. I think the current character stats and ability scores are fine. They just have to balance the racial abilities a little, and it will be okay. Creating diversity through racial traits would only specialize certain races in certain classes, so in the end every race would be overpowered in a certain class, and since nobofy wants to play a "loser" character, only "OP" characters would be created, thus reducing diversity in a short period of time.
"Adding diversity through racial traits" isn't winning the poll in korea though..

Because they are smart.
I voted to reverting to 34 classes, but I find adding new awakened classes a good idea as well.
It doesn't need to be 34 but the more the better imho.
If they Divide the Awakened classes again into 34 different classes I'll be back in action!
IMO the best would be if they delete Awakened system... SWS 4ever! :D

That won't happen..the awakening system wont disapear..but they seem interested in working on an awakening system with old class traits...unique build..

Ah just saw that more has been translated. Well, that should help with some balance issues, like I said some classes got absolutely no love 3rd class.

I still shudder at the thought of lightning shock/rush impact/disarm possibly coming back. I'm not sure if I'm happy or sad
had the same feeling i couldnt decide if its good change or not but after all it will bring more challaneges to the game and make it more funny for everyone :)
Yeah, maybe there will be actual reason to play as a Knight again :)
I hope SK makes a remarkable comeback :)))
they could just make more easy to get lvl 99, create a new awkening in 99 like 5th class change, when you will awkening like a superior Phoenix knigth for example if your 3rd class was PK, when you would trade some siegil knigths skills for some of skills of old 3rd class reworked for the lvl 99 stuff, and for that 5th class change you will need an item that was that weapon you get in 85 class change (that weapon that has no use atm and have your 3rd class name), and then ofc they would need to add more lvls cap and stuff..

ehhh just wavering :D
34 classes? My god, I don't want to be PL waiting around for each class for 2h then start play deep in the night.

This for sure.
Bad enough that kameal Tyrrs can keep single target disarm.

But the lightning shock that soulhound had should become a passive racial...that'll make it alot more balanced. Maybe 3% chance while getting hit.

Thy still need to do something about balancing humans and elfs with their racials, as they are both under powered compared to orc/DE/Kameal. Especially humans.

I don't know about you all, but for me I'm fairly happy with Aeore healer...IDK how they could even think to balance them again..Muchless will they also make Orc overlord as one of the healer types? they already basically merged the OL into that of Aeore by making Aeore's heals heal CP (even though ol awakens into iss). Whats next Aoere heals heals clan members CP in range.....>.>

What about the old subclass system..I'm human main, sub's dark elf duelclass wynn, with PR, and sps subs...How would that play into my awakening class change if say I want to reawaken into a Elven Elder awakened, as opposed to the Cardinal that I was brought up as.

furthermore, cardinal sucked as a 3rd class.
Prophet is down right hosed!! compared to the other types.
And removing plunder from adventure/windrider/ghosthunter types would be abysmal change to awkaned daggers!! giving it only to dwarf race and/or those that choose to awaken to dwarf dagger, and lose out on possibly good skills...it's just Mental!!!

I do see some + sides to the orcs thou, those that come up as tyrant.. Atleast fist might become more valuable...

If your main is human healer why would it go to elven elder awakened? You picked human, it's not diferent than old system, you go with what you picked, else players would pick the most OP class they see fit. Plus i don't see how much a healer can be afected, the current healer has almost all previous healers skills.

Also its counting 2nd class skills too FYI.
The full article from Nam Gung-gon from the Lineage 2 Development Department has been fully translated by Yidao on myself. You could see some details about those options in this thread :

34 classes? My god, I don't want to be PL waiting around for each class for 2h then start play deep in the night.

read the link Laby posted it will stay 7 main classes but with the option to build in diversity by taking several skills from their "origin" class which can then be learned all the way up to 99.

so for example for tanks you can not mix SK/Phoenix/DA/EK skills, you have to chose which route you'll take and stick with that and all of them have some good options pending on your play style.

example:
you like DPS go DA route
you like debufs go SK
you like keeping party alive as long as possible go EK/Phoenix route
you like top survivability in PvP go Phoenix
Fact is every class will still keep their current role and fit in the party (on pve) the same way as before but with added bonus that can mix some specialization to ur class.

5th Class? Yuck, Hell no!! If this keeps up we'll be going through classes faster than dirty underwear. I'd rather they just boost the 3rd classes to the level of the awakened ones.
Aion 4.0 will have 3 new classes, so what I can expect in L2 are these 3 new Aion classes being copied as new awakened ones, because all current awakened classes are copy from Aion classes(the only difference in my opinion is that Aion has different builds per class depending on which stigmas you have chosen, while L2 everybody has the same skills, and also there isn't a ridiculous buff dependence in Aion, you don't need a boxed Chanter while in L2 a boxed ISS is a must).

So after these 3 new classes are released, bringing more players to Aion(Aion has more players than L2 in Korea), L2 devs will also copy these classes in L2 as they did to the current "awakening" classes.

Yeah we definitely don't need Dragon Ball Z happening in L2. Man that would just be boring, muscly, emo and monkey. Not in that order.

No. The only "new classes" they are bringing are the old ones with awakening features.
I'd kinda like to see the old classes come back...just not sure how, without really thinking about it. I guess it'd be better to keep awakening, but add more classes? Maybe at minimum 2 types for each of the 8 we have now? Like 2 diff kinds of buffers, daggers, tanks, etc.. Anything to make things more diverse. Awakening's definitely taken the "unique" out of L2....before awakening there's just so many options and choices...after, it's all about the basic classes...kinda boring.

This is exactly how it seems to turn out. Take a look at the 3rd picture here:
http://boards.rochand.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=863

On page 4 of that thread you will see how the Chinese players have voted. The Japanese opinion can be found here:
http://boards.lineage2.com/showthread.php?t=244312&page=2#30
And the Korean results - the poll has, again, been extended until tomorrow - can be found here:
http://lineage2.plaync.co.kr/promotion/yourvoice2012/forum/index
Our results are at the top of this page.

There is a global majority for the 34 classes.
The thought of going back to a system where you had to find an SWS and a BD for every party and where most sang/danced and did little else, and where classes like PPs were only needed for a single skill like counter critical... well, it makes my stomach hurt. I like the idea of diversity (we archers were never all that diverse to begin with - so it doesn't take much diversing for us to get excited), but if this new "diversity" returns us to the days of perfect party setups, I might QQ.

sws/bd's have combo songs/dances aka 1 of them will be fine so cant compare and I have played with many active pp's that were actually very good at their class so imo your post just means your not good in gathering a good friendlist of active ppl that know how to play the game..
Also, for iss enchanter class route, maybe they can simply merge the buffs+rythm+songs/dances, like the old forgotens/new rythm.

Making the diference for the iss class only in a little impact of the total amount of stats up, and in the debuffs of the final build.

Or just simply dont add 2nd/3rd buffs skills for the iss, IMO this is the best option for the iss class. And none of the class who awake as iss, need the old buff.

BTW, I are more concert about the Tyrr.

How the hell they will keep his usefull for a party. Is not the same an a Pole based tyrr like an a Fist/dualsword tyrr, and if they remake 34 classes I think that tyrr need to be like the old class (with his own unique weapon mastery).

The same for the spoiler dagger.
I can't believe the Koreans put in their poll the "34 classes" option. Merging the classes into 8 was a major stratetic option and now they think about reverting? This has the smell of fail all over it.

On topic now. I voted for keeping the classes as is. I don't want to see a single class added. The people who wish for 34 classes again in the name of "diversity" and avoid "boredom" seem to forget a few things. Most of the 34 old classes were completely boring. Many of them were scarcely played (prophet anyone?). Remember how overpowered thay had to make Kamaels in order for people to start playing them? Diversity has always been a myth.
Class balance is another issue. Developers NEVER managed to balance the game in the past. How could they with 34 different classes? Right now balance is better than it ever was. Maybe the game has room for 1-2 more classes but that's it. More will create chaos.
Hello,

Finally, the Korean poll has been closed Yesterday. In order to get the same poll period, I printed the results as the moment I am writing this post. Here they are :

http://i.imgur.com/wQxxz.png

I can't close the poll myself, it would be cool if Sace or Juji would be able to do so before forwarding the poll results and the best comments from this thread to the Korean Dev Team.

Meanwhile, Innova opened its own poll from russian players. You can read more about it here : https://forum.4game.ru/showthread.php?t=548360

Let's hope the best !

Laby

Edit : I added the results from Toujishing website. You can see them on the picture below. The translation would be :

35%: Keep the current Awakening system, and add more diversity due to racial traits
6%: Keep the current Awakening system, but let the
players being able to learn again 3rd class skills
38%: Divide the Awakened classes again into 34 different classes
19% : Add diversity by creating new classes.

Nice.

people have the wrong idea on how this 34 class change breakdown will work even though I provide a simple example on tanks before I will use this as another example..

- Tyr's based of Tyrants/Duelist will most likely be able to boost their single target DPS, more so then other Tyr's.. this will mean for oly/pvp those will be the strongest builds.
- Tyr's based on Meastro/DN will be stronger in aoe melee, so they will be the pve/raid masters

again to clarify & simplify: the basis will remain the current existing awakening classes and their skills, based on the pre awaking origin class you will get the option to take 3 out of a fixed list of pre defined 2nd/3rd class skills (koreans are still working on those) and learn those up to lvl99..

disclaimer: as this stuff is all still in development phase, not even PTS in Korea things may change later on.
I dont know how the hell they will divide all those classes again. And i dont see the point to do it. I prefer to see some skill changes and make the difference not only in racial skills and base stats. I miss my old hex cubic solo/party. It would be nice to see summoners again with three cubics.
Fact is every class will still keep their current role and fit in the party (on pve) the same way as before but with added bonus that can mix some specialization to ur class.

Adding:

These "return" to the 34 classes should be an upload: you awaken yull archer but at the long of the way you get specializations as you wish. This would bring a more variability of "classes".

Or

The overlords, Judicators and soulhounds (ex) get their own awaken class.

I think that we all agree that 34 classes were very fun making a unique gameplay, but dont think on go back. Think on go further :)
They can ofc add talent options and let players deside what root they want to follow. With this option they may earn money with erase talent scrolls via nc coins. The talent system is working fine in many other mmos
i don't think there is anything wrong with the current awakening system except that it should be more refined and you should be allowed to choose a more refined path. what i mean by this is like this...

absolute biggest mistake ever was made on the dwarf classes. daggers where added to BH at first to improve their damage, but it didnt. it only gave the illusion that it would because they did more hits per second for a lot less damage and get only nearly half the skill sets of other dagger classes. the ones that cause real difference and for example give adventurers or other real dagger uses the edge.
in my opinion, and i say this since before GoD came out:

WS should turn naturally into a tank class and BH should turn into Tyrr.
here are some of the reasons that drive me:
my own WS was always very strong with lots of HP and defense but not too much damage on my own... like tanks. i always wanted to see shield skill added to WS since 1hd blunt + shield is logical and shield defense is calculated into most heavy sets. 2hd blunts where fine but not nearly as good. WS in my personal opinion was the biggest fun class in game until you made it useless by turning it into a dagger class. force them to switch from heavy gear and strong heavy weapons into a light armor using class armed with a butter knife.

i also raised a BH and noticed long time ago that when BH vs BH PVP at same level the BH with the 1hd blunt would win over the BH with 1hd/2hd daggers. lets face it, they are a heavy class and here the same as WS i think its a mistake to ruin this class by awaken it into a dagger. however i know some players prefer to be in light armor since shield skills are missing. now what i would loved to have seen and also suggested back then is to turn BH into a Tyrr after awakening instead, because thats the logical path. they already have sword/blunt and pole skills, are a different playstyle than WS and deserve to do damage for once.

daggers should not gain spoil/plunder skills after awakening. it makes no sense. i even noticed that some "real" daggers see the plundering more as a burden and prefer not to plunder at all while in group unless they are being asked to. i actually see a negative parallel to BH class. as in BH doesnt do damage with daggers and only gets a small skill set compared to true dagger users. the same with plunder: think about the spoil skills with integrated armor crushing, spoil bomb, aoe spoiling and sweeping, etc ... and awaken daggers only get 1 plunder skill.
instead the BH should awaken as tyrr and should be the ONLY class allowed to spoil. meaning tyrrs shouldnt have to learn this skill but BH should keep the spoil skills after awakening and being allowed to improve them further. so they can still prefer to AOE and AOE spoil/sweep which is in their nature.

mages should have different paths. i used to like the diversity about mages and after one feoh class it felt like a let down. mages should have 4 different elements: fire (sorc), water (LE), dark (necro) and wind (SH)
(plz note: i changed into dark instead of earth on purpose).

summoner:
someone posted that summoners should have their own path/pets again. i second that. let DE have reapers and LE the cougars and both classes can also summon a bear.

other than that, i am happy how awakening worked out.

greetings

PS: to the kamael guy that wants 3 different kamael classes awaken: nonsense! you should be thankful it worked out this way because otherwise you would be still useing a crossbow, being in light gear only on all three classes, etc ... you should embrace the changes that where made because your class got a lot stronger.
Update:
There was a global majority for a return to the 34 classes. The developers have accepted the players' vote and are now going forward on that basis. Yesterday Nam Gung-gon published a preliminary plan how to split up the Sigel Knight class into the 4 old Tank classes. You will find the original text here:
http://lineage2.plaync.co.kr/board/forum/view?articleId=516005
An English translation by Laby and me can be found here:

For tomorrow a similar article about the splitting up of the Othell Rogue class is announced. If it should really come forth (at the moment things at the Development Department are changing on a daily basis), Laby and I will again post a translation on the Rochand forum (http://boards.rochand.com/viewforum.php?f=11).

I don't care which way it goes... As long as they give us the option to change our mind at 90+ without having to go back to 87 since they are changing their minds again...

The people that used a noble stone chose classes based on the way things are now... So all the planning that went into making the character/subs is going to change... and we better be able to pick whatever we want or people are going to riot.

Actually most of us old players didn't cause we didn't had a GoD PTS remember!!...
sws/bd's have combo songs/dances aka 1 of them will be fine so cant compare and I have played with many active pp's that were actually very good at their class so imo your post just means your not good in gathering a good friendlist of active ppl that know how to play the game..

or that draecke has a lot of ''alt'' toons to box..... :)
all of the above imo as true I had access to almost every possible support char ingame but also a full active friend list aka 120ppl :)

it's a MMO, finding ppl with whom you like playing is part of how this is supposed to be played ^^

Either way they gave us a chance to awaken w/e we wanted, and we could make alts to find out what they would be like at least... Plus none of us were over 85+ then, because you obviously couldn't xp past 85 before the update. But the update they are proposing will affect people who are already 90+.
A pts will most likely run on the innova servers anyway so just log there to try it..and read updated info before rushing.
So in short, most of the ppl want to go back to H5 :D
No problem with 34 old classes come back... GoD need some fun again ...
The problem is HOW they will do that... Lvl 99?? If they make the level grind more easy/fun, can be nice cuz actualty is very boring ...
NC had it partially right with the Awakening system; by granting roughly double HP, MP, CP to characters that had awakened, new Racial stats, skills etc. But the loss of individuality upon awakening was a tough pill to swallow.

After 8 yrs of playing my Hell Knight I was devastated to be turned into a completely different character in a the blink of an eye.

If my lvl 85 HK was given the chance to learn/upgrade skills of equal power to the "new" awakening skills I would have been much happier and beat Sigel Knights from Giran to Gludio all day long.

If I have the chance to re-acquire my HK skill set while maintaining the Base Awakening stats I'll be good with that, may even give me a reason to grind again. As it is now I have no interest in playing a toon I don't like.
From the translations Ive seen, the changes are pretty obvious. Your awakening class will just regain skills matching what your 3rd class skills used to be, like Hell Knights getting an improved panther, light elf archers skill reuse, Human rogue getting Mirage, etc.

What im wondering is, are we losing any awakened skills in exchange of those new ones? Cause I love the way my Iss behaves, with the AOE debuffs and stuff.
Comming back to the game because of this splitting them back up again hope they do it right.

Details about Iss Enchanter and Aeore Healer are announced for Thursday, September 13. We will publish a translation here:

As to the Awakened skills - while the split classes keep most of them, there is some skill adjusting both for those who take the 34 class path and those who prefer to stay in their old Awakened class for the time being (the change is so far not compulsory). The Stances of the Yul Archer, for example, will be changed to buff skills and "their effect will be adjusted" (효과 조정), whatever that may mean:

More important is that the Plunder skill of an Othell Fortune Seeker will be replaced with a new, more effective Spoil:

All this is still open for discussion. The only thing that's non-negotiable are the paragraphs above the first blue line in the articles ("1. Diversified structure of the xxx class"). Everything else can and will change according to the suggestions made by the Korean players in the thread under the respective article. So, don't panic! :)
From what i read about wizards,no,i dont want to awaken as a necro, since what its described its not a necro but a typical wizard with less skills and 1 debuff.

I assume all other wiz classes wont like to awaken as anything else too but as a sts.So long for bringing back the 34 classes.

And then those wizards who went sts will cry when the changes will start to become more and more noticable on further chapters.:)

Solid State Disk (http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/S/solid_state_disk.html)

Abbreviated SSD, a solid state disk is a high-performance plug-and-play storage device that contains no moving parts. SSD components include either DRAM or EEPROM memory boards, a memory bus board, a CPU, and a battery card.

Because they contain their own CPUs to manage data storage, they are a lot faster (18MBps for SCSI-II and 35 MBps for UltraWide SCSI interfaces) than conventional rotating hard disks ; therefore, they produce highest possible I/O rates.

This will never happen and NCEast (Korea) stated in their own forums they have no plans on ever re-engineering the client. The game is 8 years old and to recode the client would take 2 or 3 years according to what the Korean developers told me during my last visit to NCSoft Headquareters.

Speak for yourself. I don't even have an SSD, and I can fraps at 25fps in sieges(Yesterday seige @ Chronos in aden was probably ~250 people) with relativity no issue.

Your super gaming pc sucks. An 8800GT with 4gigs of ram is not good anymore. Please upgrade.

PS: Yes I know a lot of people have issues, but my setup is nothing insane and I can fraps 7v7s (max detail) all the way up to a 250 person siege (Alt + P)where its playable enough I don't worry about losing the fight because of choppy lag.
