[Problem] Mana Steel => Iss Enchanter

Iss Enchanter Started Last reply 21 posts
Hello,

The passive skill "Mana Steel" seems to have a problem.

When this passive skill is triggered, i can see the skin of the skill (blue aura) but it does not restore mana.

I'm Iss Enchanter from Overlord. This problem it's only for my or another ppl have the same bug ?

Thx for answer and sry for my bad english x)
You get only 30 MP when it works. The difference can't be seen, sometimes. I got 4 Enchanters' accs (3 from Sword Muse and 1 from Spectral Dancer) and I don't have any issues.
Oh ! Rly ? Only 30 MP ?

It's rly usless imo.. i think a little boost would be.
You can get it quite a lot though. Its to help you keep mp for buffs and debuffs, not skill spam.

There is no need for a boost of it. Get passive clarity if you are still having issues with mp.
It is quite a drop from the Prophet/Hierophant's version though, which I guess is where the Iss gets it from, and not just a little bit but by almost exactly the half.
The max lv Prophet/Hierophant version restored 59 MP if I remember correctly. It's one of the Awakened skills that is worse than it's predecessor.
Keep in mind that the Iss Enchanters have faster atk speed than Hierophants, so chance is that Superior Mana Steal will trigger more often...
From having played both Hierophant and Iss live, I can tell you that the ISS version seems to trigger a ton more.

Ofc, it cant compete with the orc mystic mana steal, which is a broken skill, in my opinion.

Not sure what an Iss needs so much mp for though, the skill gives back enough to keep debuffs on mobs and buff/sonata.
Well, not that I have any mana issues anyway, so I'm fine.

It's just technically the Iss version is called "Superior Mana Steal", compared to the "Mana Steal" from the Prophet/Hierophant, so unless the trigger chance % on "Superior Mana Steal" skill itself is higher (which of course we can't tell from skill description), I'm talking about the skill's chance and not because of the higher attack speed of an Iss compared to a Prophet/Hierophant, there really is nothing "Superior" about it lol.

Sorry, it's just a little pet peeve, I know ;)
Rarely an Awakened skill has been proved to be better than an old one, mind you.
It is superior.

The prophet would never get as much mp back as ISS are today.

My tip for ISS that run low on mp often. Stop playing your character by smashing your entire hand on the function keys.

You need to keep crippling attack on the mobs so they die faster, if there are more than 2-3 mobs and your party is aoeing, use the mass cripple. The cooldown has been changed so it will be up again before it wears off.

You need to keep shadow blade on the mobs so they hit for less, as in the example above, if there are more mobs, use the mass version.

You do not need to ever just spam all your skills as soon as they are up. Get a few regular swings in as well, this is where the skill we are talking about in this thread triggers, and will give you more mp back than you might even need.

We'll agree to disagree on this one then.

I still don't think it deserves to be called superior, a skill with the name changed to superior should itself actually be superior to its predecessor in at least one way, even if in just something little, and not just be called superior because its effect seems better on a class that itself already is "superior" to its predecessor lol.
Other Iss skills with superior in their name are actually better, even if just by a little bit, than their predecessors.
They could've just gone and use a different name for the skill like Mana Theft in stead of calling it a Superior version of an existing predecessor skill. ;)

An Iss with Mana Steal would have more mana back than an Iss with Superior Mana Steal, and former Hierophants were able to keep the old one (not with the change where noone will be able to keep old skills). Vice versa, if a Prophet were able to get Superior Mana Steal, they would get far less mana back than they do with Mana Steal, something you can't say about other superior Iss skills similar to Prophet/Hiero ones.

Of course I will have to take my words back, if the actual trigger chance % from Superior is actually better than the regular Mana Steal, because than it actually does have a superior feature. But alas, we can't see or tell from skill descriptions.

I know, I know, I'm kinda nitpicking... but still!
You could tell from actually playing the ISS though.

Maybe try playing and notice it?

That's just it, I have.

I was an original live Prophet from way back when, played the game since closed beta, though technically a Prophet since after L2's launch as I was lv 39 at the end of the month-long Open Beta back then. You do NOT forget playing a Prophet in Lineage 2 lol, it went from one of the most liked classes at first (it had several unique buffs in the beginning) to being the most disliked later on.

And yes, the Iss gets the mana trigger effect alot, but he also attacks like twice as fast as my Prophet did. So I still get the feeling the amount of triggers in relation to attackspeed is about the same, to me it just looks more on the Iss because he attacks so crazily fast compared to a Prophet.
What god awful gear did you have your prophet in? Mine could attack just fine.

You sound like one of those ppl that think they are martyrs for playing a class that should in reality only have been played by the 2-3 ppl that get hero on it each month. And you clearly were not one of those.

ISS was a really nice upgrade for prophets, I hope you enjoy it.

You really are somewhat... "assertive", aren't you :O
Guess that's what your sig is for ;)

I was never talking about how "god awful" my Prophet was, I loved him every bit, and I would still choose the class again. I always play a support class and I prefer being a buffer over a healer, I also prefer melee combat over magic, and I prefer a human toon, so Prophet was the perfect choice for me back then and still is.

I meant how eventually when my friends started to stop playing others would just avoid my Prophet for party play because everyone preferred the warcryer for obvious reasons.
It was a bit lonely at times when only a few people would at least be kind enough to duo with me, and I'm not a clanhopping bunny, hence why I eventually played L2 on and off over the years.
Also, I've always been a casual player and not a hardcore one, so my gear was sub-par compared to people who played 24/7, which I didn't mind that much since I could do well enough for myself, it's just "elitist" type of players REALLY look down on you when you're not a hardcore type and don't have all that bling bling...
I also prefer PvE over PvP, never had much taste for PvP, I can see why others like and I have absolutely no problem with it, it's just not for me lol.

And I agree, the Iss is a nice "upgrade" for a Prophet, and I actually love my class which not alot of people seem to with theirs lol.
It doesn't help all that much, but it's more like a little extra boost. At 99 you can enchant quick escape to restore MP. At +10 it restores 10% of your MP each time you use it. Until then, just stick mainly to doing aoe crip/shadow and an emergency heal here and there if you're having mana issues.

The fact that you loved your class or not, has nothing to do with what gear you had on it. I'm saying mine still attacked fine, but i didnt gear it substandard gear either...

But hey, lets use the excuse that just because one has bad gear, everyone else must be on 24/7. Coz making money is really hard to figure out, right?

The 24/7 was not something you had to take literally, it was in reference to me being a casual player compared to others who spend alot of time grinding their rearends off to get what they wanted. There is nothing wrong with that if that's your thing, but not everyone can or wants to do that you know, you can enjoy a game casually, not just religiously.

Bad gear and money making, really... Really, you're going there? Even though I specifically mentioned I am a casual player, alone after friends left, didn't want to change clans and mentioned I could play just fine with the gear I had...
Also, I have always had just one account, since I feel like multi-accounting is a form of cheating, even if it's accepted by the devs/ncsoft and the community, I can't change the way how I feel about it.

You know, I've been reading more of your comments in the forum. You really have a knack for taking things negatively, and giving others the feeling they're being looked down upon. Signature or not, your snide comments really do make you look like a bully.

At this moment I am actually starting to feel sorry for you, you seem like an intelligent person but one who always sees a glass half-empty in stead of half-full, and has little to no tolerance/empathy for those with less smarts compared to yourself.

So I'm just going to wish you all the best and fun and I'm going to move on and not going to dwell on this subject any further.

Not to mention we've gone way off-topic, but that's my fault, so I sincerely apologize for that.
Im starting to see a trend where you lash out at ppl when they argue with you, and resort to personal attacks rather than discussing the issue at hand.

You know the world isnt a conspiracy against you right?

Best of luck with your life, bro.
Sigh... Fine, I'll continue just one more time, but I really dislike having to dwell further on something I preferred to close off.

First, I apologize if my words seemed offensive in any way, they weren't meant as an offensive attack on your persona, just a mere observation on how you look to me.
Also, it was you who first tried to analyze, categorize and "personal attacked" me, and seem to get more hostile the further we continue. Which was the reason I preferred to end the discussion because I am very empathic and can't stand aggrevating other people, even if I think I'm in the right, without feeling horrible about myself.

(Personal attack: Making of an abusive remark instead of providing evidence when examining another person's claims or comments.)

Please don't take this the wrong way again, I don't know if you realize this but once I started disagreeing with you on something in this thread you took on a "condescending" tone in your writing when addressing me:

You could tell from actually playing the ISS though.

(bolded part is the analyzing, categorizing "personal attack")

(again an analyzing, categorizing "personal attack", especially the last part)

Just because you cloak your words in a clever or snarky fashion, doesn't mean some people can't read between the lines.
Like I said before, you seem like an intelligent individual, and you do seem to give quite a bit of helpful comments on this board, so I really don't wish for a silly wordfeud.

Once again I will apologize if anything I say looks like an offensive attack on one's persona, they are never meant to mean anything of the sort. I have just recently learned to speak my mind and not let people just walk all over me as I have done for way to long already, honesty is afterall the best course of action.

This time will really be the last time I comment in this thread. I have no ill will or intent towards you nor will I allow myself to be "provoked" to unnecessary conflict.

Be well, have fun and take care.
To close this topic off:

The Superior mana steal passive of Iss Enchanter is more than enough to keep an Iss with enough mp to get its job done without needing recharges.

If anyone is running out of mp, I suggest analyzing their playstyle, is should not be played by randomly mashing buttons. Learn what the skills do and use them accordingly, pay attention to the game.
