In the old days some of the best times I had were starting a conversation with fellow Players.
Sometimes we used to gather by the Gatekeeper and talk in shout. People would join in from all over the area.
Now because of the RMT Bots which NC does nothing about its impossible to carry on a conversation. As they spam their message large blocks of chat scroll by so quick that its impossible to read what a real player said.
So what are we left with instances where you play solo and you chat restricted.Sad really that NC West calls this a mmo
The very adena selling companies that need us to survive, are actually killing the game with their spam, etc... So when L2 dies, it's the only way they can literally go screw themselves (over).

+1 it's annoying as H E double hockey sticks! They only work around is for each player to individually /block each spammer as they start spamming.
not much you can do other than yea physically block the names of the spammers. Noobs can't even chat until lvl 20. They can't ask anything in chat at all. Imagine how aggravating that is.

O.O that would be...extreme. Legits would really be hurt with that restriction. No shouting for mentors,no shouts for clan and not to mention overall drama that would create.

Everyone is 70+, i'd say 85+ atm.
There are tons of level 85 lf mentees (even on party matching), atm people don't need shout lf mentor.
The RMT spam is out of control, thats the only way to solve problem, won't hurt legit people imo.

Well to the new player logging on for the first time it is! If I was totally new to this game and found out I couldn't chat with anyone until 70+ I'd probably say this game was really broken to the point I shouldn't bother with my time.

the ways u guys are saying are a bit old and rustic... it's pretty simple... there is only 1 way to assess the problem and it's to send the FBI at thoses dozens of website owners and hosts of the companies that own thoses dozen websites that sell adena, shut them down completely with a hefty fee to pay for breaking the law of selling adena when it's illegal and thoses company will never again accept people hosting pages like adena selling risking to get taken down ... ITS BEEN DONE FOR MANY THINGS, WHY NOT THIS. Why you think? It has something to do with enveloppes and money inside it.
I don't know which solution would be the best but hell. We need at least the shout and trade channel for us, players. Let alone the exp grinding/farming spots T_T.

Because the FBI can't do anything since these websites are located in other countries where they are legal. Same goes with private servers that operate in the USA, the FBI can go in and close them down but not if they are outside the USA.

last time I took to stand near the GK in Giran to talk with some friend in chat, people was gathering to do a "cyber g..bang around a female dwarf in afk mode (kamaels and orcs were making turns of dances in front her, clearly suggesting a BJ, while a light elf was taking the domi/natrix role and calling for more ppl, jesus). Well, or your memories are shiny enough to blind you or mines are just broken and disgusting... :(
The thing about private servers is the grey area in which they run in. They can't charge a fee to play or download their client. However they ask for "donations". When a player "donates" he may get gear or gear in which they created for their servers or in some cases hacked gear from the Russians. That's how they operate. It's not copy right infringement,but it's using game files owned by NCSoft. Most of the time the unofficial material on the PS was code written by someone else was shared on a website. l2extreme was raided because they were charging a monthly fee to it's players to play. THAT is what was illegal and it was in the united states.
I honestly think NC needs to concern themselves with our problems over private servers anyways.

NCSoft needs to concern themselves with how to run a sustainable business outside of Korea, and nothing else. Honestly, I don't know why they're even considering releasing Blade & Soul here, seeing their poor track record with games in the west. You'd have to be masochistic to want to actually play it long-term, seeing how poorly-managed Lineage II and Aion have been. Are they really gonna change?

I made the same mistake in the past. I assumed that RMT is illegal. Wrong. It is forbiden by the EULA, allowing NC do delete accounts but they can't go to the courts over it. In fact an older player said that they did try and lost, but I can't find the links. RMT is a problem for all games, not just L2.
There was a different case elsewhere. It provided same content (the game) causing the owner to directly loose money from subscriptions. That was illegal and that is why FBI shut it down.
