Classes and how to make them Unique. (Just Discussion)

Now they came out with this pole to make classes more unique by putting the 34 classes back or just having race traits more effective in that class. I've been thinking of them adding more awakened classes maybe? Especially for that specific race. As for example, say I was a Kamael Beserker, and I level all the way to 85. I do my awakened quest, and for that specific race and class, it gives me 2 options. Do I want to go the Seraphan Class, or Aden's Saints. Seraphan would be a powerful warrior, basically like a Tyrr except a whole new variety of skills. Where as Aden's Saints would be like a fighter/buffer or fighter/healer. Kind of like the Judicator. Sorry for the names being crappy just naming them off the top of my head. But I think it would be great and make the game more diverse, and add allot of new fun to it. I would love to hear all of your suggestions and tips and all. And maybe even GMs will read this and take in NcWest consideration.
umm your option would leave us with 68 classes in the end o.o

but yeah the very same was asked when the third class transfer was first implemented way back when, but then we all hushed up about it because nothing really viable was given as an answer, AND leveling was hella hard too XD
simple, at awakening, reset all skills and make all skills from all classes available and they give us a chance to chose what to put on our characters and of course number of skills should be limited

not sure if serious or sarcastic..
Reverting to the old system is undesireable.

It is undesireable for the same reason underlying Brown v. Board of Education, "separate educational facilities are inherently unequal."

If you make two classes and give each one different skills with the idea that their skills will be seperate but equal then it is inevitable that one will superior to the other.

Just compare Mystic Muse level 76-79 skills to Storm Screamer level 76-79 skills if you need a concrate example. Mystic Muse got a bunch of extremely useless skills (ie Diamond Throne, a mediocre dot which did not benefit from increasing mattack or BSPS) while Storm Screamers got Empowering Echo which allowed them to register m attacks in the 20k to 30k range. Those skills were supposed to be seperate but equal however it should be quite obvious to anyone that a Dot skill in L2 will never compare to a mattack boosting skill.

Light Elf mages have always gotten the shaft in comparison to Dark Elf mages, especially in regards to nerfs. Cancel, light elf and human mage only spell, was nerfed from all buffs in C3 to only removing 0-3 buffs in C4. Dark Elves got body to mind and corpse life drain whereas light elves got some crap spell that consumed a large number of spirit ore and mp to restore 4 more MP per tick. 4 more MP yowzers, that came out to about 0.5 less minutes of sitting down every 20 minutes. A more fair spell to compensate for the lack of body to mind and the fact that a light elf had a much lower mattack and damage per spell due to lower int would be a passive that reduced mana cost of hydroblast by 50%. From the beginning light elves should have paid less mp per spell than dark elves because they did less damage per spell than dark elves.

Spellhowlers got Death Spike and Vampiric claw, a low mana cost nuke and a normal damage nuke that restored hp whereas light elves got Ice Dagger, a very low damage nuke that had a small chance to apply a very low damage Dot. Those are seperate but hardly equal.

I could go on and mention how low damage but fast casting does not equal high damage but slightly slower casting when the spells cost the same so the light elf is consuming more mp per unit of damage which is neither balanced nor fair but I will not.

I will simply repeat that when it comes to NCSoft seperate will never be equal as NC hates light elven mages.
I think the DOTs are better than they were now. And dots are especially effective against classes with high damage resistance such as tanks and against the transfer pain of summoners.

But other than that, DOTs are still pretty fail in mass pvp.
It is not possible to make 34 classes unique and at the same time remotely balanced, when the basic roles that exist are tank, healer, buffer, DD. Small variations can exist, but very far from "unique".

Ellisande: complaining about spellsingers since 2004 :D
I stopped to read the first post when my eyes hitted those names...
but u bothered to quote and reply ...
since juji's hammer caught me in the air, I just have to thank you, @holly, for saving me from be taken to hell flames with this last quote. U'r my savior. I'd really, really wish this same hammer police would visit the live servers at least once and then. too many bad guys is there right now, while I writing this. :)
IDK... I honestly hate how linear the playstyle of each class has become, the old ghost hunter felt more diverse and unique than the othell rogue (and you had the wind rider and the adventurer who were each distinct on their own), you had different ways of doing the same thing (getting on the opponent's back and ****** him out), today i feel like the classes make me use the exact same pattern of skill using, and that really bothers me =(

What i mean to say is... The problem is not ONLY on the 8 classes (but we could have at least 16 and not being stuck w/ the same healer, tanker, iss, wynn, and other 3 pattern for maximum performance), but also on the way that each of them were developed...
I you had different ways of doing the same thing (getting on the opponent's back and ****** him out),

-Use trick and surrounding monsters for enemy to get target of mobs so u go to his back( use backstab, DB,LB,DualB in sucession)- you still can do this.

-Use trick and quickly run towards to exploit back and use blows- you can still do this.

-Use remove-target passive from buff or PVP set to exploit the back- you can still do this.

-Use shadow step + disables and blows- you can still do this.

- Hide yourself and avoid AOE and apear on enemy's back when he least expects- you can still do this.

I've just said 5 ways of how to get to enemy's back which was used before and is used now, and i'm sure others know better of other strategies.

You can use various ways, more than before, why do you say there's only 1 pattern of doing this when you can clearly use all old methods + new abilities that never existed ingame? While i prefer old classes in some cases, i think you haven't fully explored your class...afterall othel rogue is even more stealthier which opens oportunities to exploit more the battlefield.

But what's the most eficient of all? Spam shadow chase and bluff. I'm not complaining that the class is weak or something, i'm complaining that the gameplay has became utterly obvious.
ummmmm lol dagger has always been a obvious toon.

Ever since C2, its always been "pop UE get as many stabs in as possible, then run/hide)

Which means good reading and oportunism to effectively get to an opponent's back, of course, the daggers only took their real shape when the 3rd job came, focus death/power really made the class interesting, forcing smart and quick movement/skill use for the sake of real damage, you had a strong reward for being there (almost triple damage if you compare front to back on the ones that had focus death)... I thought that was awesome =D
Today you have shadow chase, a skill that killed that need for ability to be constantly on an enemy's back, and lack the lack accuracy to make a constant assassin or the lack of mirage to make up for it.

But still othell is not so bad actually, i feel really bad for the old duelists and khavataris that became tyrs.
