Just saw Core farming an alt clan with war tags in Floran village, gaining +1 rep over and over again. (Chronos Server)
What kind of lame stuff is that? Do all high level clans have to farm lowbie alt clans just to get some rep? Anyone actually war and just get rep from PvP? How fun can that be?
In my experience most wars are between large and small clans (looking for fun/someone to pick on) and most war pvp between high level characters and low level people/subclasses (killing lowbies on quests/raids).
So farming an alt clan really doesn't seem like such a big deal.
Power clans have "pet clans" they use them for clan rep and points. They also use them to take more than one castle, park them are lower level raids so they can get the drops to sell for clan funds.
They war smaller clans especially non pvp clans because they are easy pickings, but given there's so much instancing now that no one has to step foot outside town much. There's a lot of reasons for these "pet clans"
Well Chronos has about 5 or so big clans that are actual pvp clans. Instead of fighting eachother they seem to be bored having gained lvl cap in ways we might not be able to discuss here, and are now mostly running around griefing lower lvls for fun.
I think they would have more fun fighting eachother, but hey, if ppl like curbstomping ppl multiple lvls lower than them, especially with the new lvl penalties, let them. Just dont ask yourselves why you got bored later.
^ since some bunnies of Bartz who gained maximum level in ways that we might not be able to discuss here, and are now buying transfers to Chronos, I wonder how much fun this boredom will become. :)
in fact, Bartz, Magmeld and Shillen have become a heaven for this practice.
All clans point farm in someway or another. Territory wars was a big flop because no one actually went outside siege grounds and arenas to get the points and they would huddle together just to get points off of friends. NCSoft is trying and failing to get NCSoft West players to branch out in open PvP. No one likes to lose and no one likes to be on the losing end of an unfair advantage, so they find loop holes in the PvP events to get the quest items and points. It's not pathetic when you have to do just to get the cheddar.
In regard to clan's turning to bad decisions I was an officer on what was a great north american player based clan on Bartz until they resorted to illegitimate means. My future recruits were gone, some quit playing and the only connection I had to another North American group allied with a clan that is 98+ whose acquisition of exp was illegitimate. No one has the stamina or clear conscious to establish and grow a legitimate clan. It makes it a bit tough to play the game when even the people you relied on turn to selling out.
There are private servers that can prevent illegitimate means, but a certain group does not prevent it for the official community. I can't even play WoW because there is third party use in that game as well, hah. The MMORPG genre is dying because of new generation "players" claiming to be "gamers".
The only person I can relate to that has played L2 as long as I have is SlyCutter. Too legit to quit until now.

It is not lame, it is perfectly legit and has been practiced since years ago.
If you've gained some rep on an alt clan, it is your right to transfer it to the main clan.
Yes it's boring, but sometimes you have to sacrifice something to help your clan.
By the way, I remember how some people liked to brag about their pvp counts back in the day ("OMG I have over 1k pvps! - Hey you suck, I got over 3k!!!" and so on), - yet they mostly scored those points tricking some lowbies into pvp at the gates of Gludio and Dion. We always laughed at them, as we had a lvl 40 sorc in the clan with 43k pvp points, gained during the reputation transfer.
Anyone actually war and just get rep from PvP? How fun can that be?
Much fun, I guess. Ok, why don't you show us how it should be done? Go and fight some top clan whose members all are lvl 99, with 100 billion worth of gear each. Then come back and tell us how well it worked.

Core isn't a "power" clan, they're probably just trying to boost up their clan level or get some new skills. No big deal really.

Well, I can only speak for Nova, but we don't usually war random clans. The exception being if they start showing up to help our enemy clans or some player from their clan becomes an annoyance. PVP is a bore in general though, since even a lot of 99 grps PR unless they greatly outnumber you.
On a related note:
when GoD just launched, I went to check new xp grounds (Altar of Evil, Swamplands) and the first thing I saw there was a group of dead bots. They had a clan tag that looked new to me, and I figured they were some f2p newcomers.
Just think of it: the game went free to play just a few weeks before that, and those new folks were already lvl 80+! And, unlike those random untagged bots, they seemed well organized: wearing the same tag, botting together, lying on the ground together. My intuition told me they were not "just some randoms", and I said to myself:
"Whoa, these guys must be on their way to the top! They're new to official servers but they certainly know how PvP clans are made! We'll see them among the top clans soon!"
Of course, I was right. :D
Those newcomers have reached their goal within a few months.
There are not too many "top PvP clans" on Chronos currently, and you can figure out which one I'm talking about.

Core is a PvsE legit clan. They have quite a few members and most members like to have Alts.
But I would say they don't power level these Alts. They play them when they feel like it.
Of course not all Alts can be in the Academy of the Main Clan so they level in Alt Clans.
They get rep points when they graduate in the Alt Clan and those rep points add up and I'm sure those rep points are looked at as belonging to the Main Clan. However those points can not be transfered so Core is doing what Aconyte said...getting their rep points the way it has always been done.
Is it pathetic not really just getting what's rightfully theirs.
As far as getting rep from PvsP: Well again what Aconyte said plus don't forget they run scripts as well. A PvsE clan would not stand much of a chance.
Just think of it: the game went free to play just a few weeks before that, and those new folks were already lvl 80+!
Nothing special. Me and my friends lvled alts from 1 to 86 in what? Week after GoD started? True story is that Swamplands got nerfed since that time but still.
So if they were indeedly botting...it was a lame bot :)
A hard job.... in glory days the war system will be improved, clan can get rep points if win clanwars, just declare war and resign then.
This clans can get first place in museum stats using this "legit" way to kill wartags.

 what happened to that fight fire with fire mantra?

Well we fight each other. But there is always one week break between wars. Some people want to have action also during such weeks so war is thrown to other clans. Do not try to find the reasons. It might be political (they are helping enemies), personal (somebody hates someone from the clan) or completely random (we will war all clans starting with the letter C...) Manytimes I dont understand why we war someone.
What is the sad thing that (and now I am speaking for Bregan) nobody wants to declare war to us. Not even Nova, not even FS. There are some newer surely legit 99s clans but they also didnt find balls to declare. That is from my point of view quite sad thing.
I dont understand the rage. People from small clans die 5 (or 7?) days for almost nothing. We on the other hand die for full % loss all time. I am sure we have more wars than people from small clans. This game was always open pvp world and it is running almost nine years. People have to get use to it.
[I would also like to express my satisfaction here with NC soft support team which is not able to fix my board access since big board maintenance so I cant log in with my normal nick and another big thanks to moderates of this board who changed my nick on this account.]

and yet u have warred us again ;-P i think when nova says "some player becomes an annoyance" what they mean is i hit u flagged, n u had the audacity to hit back ^^

One of these days you're going to learn to quote :D <3
There was a brief period of about 3 days where she did it successfully, then that went away.
As for war on unity, the amount of times I've seen them just lurking about waiting for some random guy to be flagged so they can get a cheap pvp, I guess it was just time for them to get a war?

lurking sounds so sinister, if uve seen me "lurking" im probably chatting :-P and ive never been keen on cheap pvps, there is no point to them :-S ur making assumptions ^^
no lol not really possible for my character to die.
isnt that a bit boring ?
Especially to anyone in the aforementioned clan
not sure if it has to do with boring, but at some point gear+lvl+your skill at healing is just too much for ppl with bad gear/lvl/skill at killing. But I have been in fights where I am tanking 3-4 ppl without having to really heal myself too much...
