Testing: Over-hit effect
Question: How does overhitting influences exp boost and drop chances on normal mobs and raid mobs? Does having a lower level difference between PC and NPC and overhit more chance of exp bonus and increased drop rate?
Reason: Due to many raids and Kartia runs etc. I wanna know how exp and reward can be boosted by overhitting.Note: The test was conducted with 1 player instead of 14, so results will vary a little. This test shows if overhit affects drops and XP.

Thank you very much Juji.

This result already serve to shut up a lot of people saying that killing with overhit increases the chance of dropping more items.

But left me with another question,
As noted in the test, the overhit given by the player's highest lvl from party increases the gain exp gained?

A situation hypothetically, though unlikely to occur in a full party to fortuna, where the healer or the tank or iss enchanter on party with the highest lvl and if overhit on his part, will gain greater exp than by a player that gives overhit but is of lower lvl?
Thank you very much Juji.

The XP bonus you receive for overhit is very well known, but the effect it had on drop was not. I hope this test clears up that confusion.
Thank you very much Juji for completing the test.

Solves a lot of myths about over hitting and drops. Sadly, it also proofs killing with over hit doesn't give the mythical 10% more exp. It's more like 1% more exp. Also, can you double check the results? Because somehow over hitting on 85 gives less exp then killing with normal hit.

Also good to see that you, unwillingly but needed, proofed that the Freya Necklace has a 20-25% chance of dropping.
how much overdmg do this overhits? like if it make 200 dmg when target has 199hp or make 20k dmg when target has 50hp?

long time ago when i starting play l2 i find somewhere OH do extra exp when make big overdmg like : mob have 200hp give 500 exp, if you hit him normal hit for any dmg and kill you got 500exp but when you hit overhit skill for 400 dmg you got 1000 exp, if 800 dmg than 2000 exp, if 300 dmg than 750 exp, etc ...
Overhit depends on skills that have the overhit effect written in the description, not on damage inflicted on the target. The target can get 10 damage, but if it was a skill with overhit effect and had equal or less than 10 HP, the overhit applies.

i know, but i mean other think , look, overhit make extra exp based on overdmg he give, for exemple :
mob have 10 hp and give 10exp(as base) and i kill him with 1hit with every skill, than it will looks like:
skill without overhit:_____________ skill with overhit:
10dmg, 10exp __________________ 10dmg, 10exp
20dmg, 10exp __________________ 20dmg, 20exp
30dmg, 10exp __________________ 30dmg, 30exp
40dmg, 10exp __________________ 40dmg, 40exp
50dmg, 10exp __________________ 50dmg, 50exp
60dmg, 10exp __________________ 60dmg, 60exp

but i dont know if this realy work this way, but on Juji's test overhit realy make some extra exp, and it was low extra exp from freya, cose i think he make low overdmg, cose if freya have for exemple 10k hp he just give she 10100dmg

edit: numbers are just for exemple, cose normaly you never attack mob with you hit x6 more dmg then he have hp, in real situations it will give mby +50% exp, 2x huricane, mob have 10%hp and overhit shadow flere (or spark? idk now, long time dont play sh :D)
Juji, could add near xp line, damage done on overhit, till cap is reached. My guess would be around 20% more xp from base with cap damage. And test should be tested on low hp mob, not boss.
Mob: Dartanion - Level 85
No Overhit Results:
Player (lvl 84) No Overhit - XP: 1,191,318
Player (lvl 85) No Overhit - XP: 1,191,318
Player (lvl 86) No Overhit - XP: 1,191,318
Overhit Results:
Player (lvl 84) Overhit - XP: 1,478,000
Player (lvl 85) Overhit - XP: 1,470,342
Player (lvl 86) Overhit - XP: 1,476,166

somethink is wierd, why player 85 got lover OH exp then 84 or 86 if nonOH was same? mby skill crit on 84 and 86 levels? anyway on mobs are OH exp much better then on boss
Well on normal mobs you can test yourself and see that the extra xp depends on the damage done with the overhit skill, but caps at a certain point.

I guess it also compares the damage of the overhit to the mob's HP and that is why the bonus for raid bosses is so small?
e.g. A player does 10k OH on a 100k HP mob and that is 10% of a mob's max HP, so he gets a 10% xp bonus. Same player does a 10k OH on a raid boss with 1kk HP and that gets him a 1% bonus.

hm i think i see that somewhere....hm.... mby few posts up?... someone with nick siroga write it, oh exp bonus based on oh overdmg
Juji. Can you do a new test on the raid boss? Why not test it on a raid like Wheeping Yui?
Freya is a pre-GoD designed boss and it has way less resists etc. then the raids inside Fortuna. Please re-do the raid test on a boss everybody will kill 100+++ times during their L2 career.

Also, still wanna see a new test on the Freya. It cannot be like this that overhitting it with a level 85 player gives less exp then a normal hit kill.

Tiferet is right guys. Over hitting is just an effect of a skill and trigger something inside the game; bonus exp. It's like doing a Half Kill with i.e. Pinpoint Shot. It will half-kill the mob, but landing 2x Half Kill after each other won't drop the mob, it will first lower him to 50% HP and then half of 50%.
Added the Weeping Yui test and updated the previous XP tests. I found the reason for the testing errors, when you overhit while the mob or RB is casting a skill you get more XP. I made sure that no skills were used by the mobs during the testing this time. Critical hits on Overhits increase the XP as well, so I also made sure to not include these in my tests.
Thank you very much Juji for completing the test.

Not sure what would cause the lvl 85 thing but overhits are based on how much damage you do past the mobs last bit of hp. If you do 10k damage with overhit skill and the mob has 1hp left you will get little if any extra exp whereas if you hit 10k and the mob had 1hp left then you would get more. Overhits work best on low hp mobs so on raid bosses it will have little affect on the exp unless you can do millions of damage.
I always get annoyed when an entire party stops beating the kartia boss just so one nuker can get an overhit. It doesnt add that much xp, just go kill 3 mobs after or something.

I think ill just stop healing when they stop killing.

That should teach em.
good for u , 90% of the servers doesnt check these topics so i have zero kraft over them .... and if i dont let them overhit im the bad cause they got less experience or zero drop :D

Why do people believe that the fairy agathion influences drops?
Why do people believe that the fairy agathion influences drops? :confused:I don't know where people get these crazy ideas either. The fairy agathion just teleports you to Magmeld. There are no bonuses to having it equipped while hunting.
its a good joke that today 10/10 parties wanted to make overhit at instances
im advertising that use forum and check jujis lab forsure
