We have already a"donation system".
You can freely give your money to NCSoft in exchange from some things you can use in L2.

Myself sometimes buy things from NCSoft.
Always cosmetic items...:o

The donators allow us to play for free. Paying for l2 used to be manditory, now its optional. Sell instant lvl 99 scrolls and +16 weaps in store for all I care (and energy of destruction for 1 penny each OP :P)

This thread illustrates quite perfectly the sad state of this game.

Used to be the best game available. Now, it's just a sad shadow of it's former self.

It's like a broken private server where the admins don't even care enough to post anymore.

I'm waiting for in-game announcements asking us to vote on hopzone.
