Lineage 3

I've been dreaming about this new expansion of lineage 2 for a very long time. In my mind, this game would have to be really modern, advanced skills/classes, superior graphics and lagless world. I keep imagining it to be something that will make us nostalgic again. I remember when I first started playing lineage many years ago, that feeling. It seems unreal to happen but can never make one stop desiring.

Also, Lineage Eternal is not Lineage 3, or TERA or whatever else you may of Lineage 3. Lineage 3 does not exist. Please stay on topic and share your thoughts on how you imagine a better version of Lineage 2 with current techonology.

So my point of this post is;

1. How do you imagine Lineage 3 to be like?

2. Would you want the same classes or begin with few hybrid ones?

3. As Lineage 2 fan, I prefer Click To Move but some may prefer WASD movement. Maybe Lineage 3 would use both?

4. Do you want your characters to be able to jump? Not like now, but be able to actually jump during pvp/pve to avoid/evade an attack. I would really enjoy having a better pvp system that will look more real. Movement can be a factor in pvp. Not only stats.

5. I always imagined Lineage 3 would have a much more realistic world that we can intteract with. Let's say, except having clan halls, fortresses, castles but being able to visit those places regularly for goods and trades, etc. And I don't mean as now. But the way a normal castle would be used in a real world.

6. What would you change in quests? I always wanted quests to be more fun! Like actually interract with NPC's and have multiple choices during one quest that can change any outcome.

7. Maybe Lineage 3 would follow some kind of story that would be a major factor for us.

8. A new "Seven Sighs" system, bring back catacombs, make them bigger and better.

9. Here's my idea of daily instances so they don't look plain boring. Right now we have Kartia right? Lineage 3 could have 6-8 different daily solo-group instances that we can choose of with different drops and stories. Players would have to choose which one they want to do so they don't repeat the same routine everyday. Monotony is never good. For the love of God I hate Kartia and so do you. It's not a challenge or anything.

10. I would love Lineage 3 to be fun and challenge to play. Not a challenge to log.

11. New races?

So here are my questions and thoughts regarding Lineage 3. Please stay positive, I know this is a long shot and if you are thinking some of these ideas may already exist in other games, I haven't played any other MMORPG except Lineage 2. I know how they look obviously, just haven't played anything else. Lineage 2 is way better than anything out there, imho.

Lineage 2 already has this feature. its called "enter chat" in the options. It is not great when trying to navigate using just the WASD keys but I find it 100% if I hold my RMB down and use the W key to walk. It also changed you key shortcuts so instead of ALT+K1 its just K1.
except the l2 version of wasd is unusable, except maybe for moving forward when you get stuck

You're right, plenty of these ideas exist in other games, actually in those made by ncsoft too, like Aion, which has the better engine, wasd and point to click, solo instances, goods/trades, fortresses and whatever else you mentioned just not the realistic world or look you expect. Probably the new blade&soul from ncsoft is the same, haven't tried but looks like that and might have the world you expect.

I am not talking about adding features to Lineage 2. Please stay on topic and tell us your ideas of how you imagine a new Lineage Series of games, Lineage 3.

I know this features exist in lineage 2, Lineage 3 would have to have far more superior interface and methods of WASD movement.
I read that L3 team was put together on 2012 february 29 so how soon do think they will start announcing details? Late 2014?
In my opinion, we wouldn't even need a L3 if open world pve didn't stop at lvl 85. Pre-awakened is soooo fun....go anywhere to hunt....when mobs become too low, go to another spot (lots of options), or group up somewhere, or do some quests, etc..etc.. Once you hit 85, it's narrowed down to a couple solo places, instances, or a couple group spots. The pve world needs to continue in the same manner as pre-85 (lots of places to go...etc....not forced to do instances or groups)...the game is literally cut off. I know there's places to hunt etc.., but it's no fun when you were playing in a huge playground full of toys..then you're forced into a small playpen with only a couple toys. <--Still playable, but minimal options.

I can deal with everything else.

Ok, maybe not bots.

Ok, maybe not lag.

Ok, maybe not.......you get my drift.
1. How do you imagine Lineage 3 to be like?

Same Game, but with a FULL new territory, Aden vs another one, and with much new concept in interfaces, graphics, skill Fx, etc, like Neverwinter or Tera

2. Would you want the same classes or begin with few hybrid ones?

Remain this, and another 6 full new class in a new continent.

4. Do you want your characters to be able to jump?

Yes

5. I always imagined Lineage 3 would have a much more realistic world that we can intteract with.

A new Graphics Engine is needed, Like Unreal Engine 4 or CryENGINE, we need to forget the old U.E 2.5 in this game.
With a crafting system without chances to fail. Like old l2 to give value and usefulness to lower levels.

Real-time scheduled rare events, for example where raids come out of their zones and atk towns or wide-areas and minions spread out on that specific territory. And the landscape is changed for a week until it goes back to normal(and minions - monsters and mini raids) stayd during that week in that territory, to show the impact, but still maintaining the original we all know after.

Castles should be part of the Castle towns, like you said Skelton, they could be actualy visited, it would be incredible if a clan/ally had to raid the town to reach the castle (the town becoming a batlefield). But this had to be strategicaly placed, considering having lower lvls towns would not work well.:D When there's no raiding/sieging going on, this places would be open to public yes!

Classes based on the old L2 classes( no need to have all..), but with a very revamped buff system. A game not buff dependant is a much healthier game.

Yes!! +1

A new world for sure!!! New maps, start small again! Just as saying Lineage 2 world was destroyed and this is what remains after rebuilding it again. New towns and castles, without losing the feel of Lineage 2 though.

Lineage 3 would so good with CryEngine or U.E 4! Would be just perfect! Just the flow of graphics using some GTX cards and simply beautiful, I could go back to grinding because nothing can keep you from that beauty! I could play one of those new games, TERA etc but nothing compares to Lineage <3

Keep up the ideas and imagination coming!!

Yunalesca, basically everything you said here are really good ideas, exactly what I had in mind tbh xD The crafting system without fail or at least a higher % than 60% and maybe a reimbursement of half materials lost!

The rare events you mentioned will definetely be worth having, that's what Lineage 3 should be about, events, fun, challenge! I just love castle fights, ones without lag at least and a new system that places impact on whole new level on Lineage 3 World would be so much more great!

Also the one week event of raids coming out could have something to do with the "seven sighs" and catacombs, where we have to complete quests opened there in order to reduce impact on towns from raid minions xD I can't help but to think so many things.

Keep up the good ideas, I'm forming the game in my head as we talk xD
I can see myself.. running freely with my dark elf, roaming the map, killing mobs on the way, enjoying those new graphics <3

Mini race events would be nice too, where players register and have to get from point A to point B as creatively as possible and fast! But here's the trick, all players will have the same speed and as they enter race they will earn some debuffs and buffs with time limit that they can cast on other players to slow them down! Such as throwing bones :D But they need to strategically be used cause other players can slow you down too!
2. Would you want the same classes or begin with few hybrid ones?
Bring back the old classes and make more new. Whatever, I will not start playing l2 again if there are no SwordMuses and SpectralDancers ^^

3. As Lineage 2 fan, I prefer Click To Move but some may prefer WASD movement. Maybe Lineage 3 would use both?
Both. WASD but with targets like it is now.

6. What would you change in quests? I always wanted quests to be more fun! Like actually interract with NPC's and have multiple choices during one quest that can change any outcome.
More Epic Quests and also some quests for farming like it used to be in Ketra/Varka/MoS/Pagans :D

8. A new "Seven Sighs" system, bring back catacombs, make them bigger and better.
Yes!

11. New races?
Why not :)
I like the idea of Lineage 3 having more simplicity over races and classes.

- What are some new races you would like to see or come up with?

- Interface changes has to be a major in Lineage 3, what would you like to see?

- I would really enjoy having back the old spoil/craft system but with a few tweaks that appeal to L3 idea.

- Something that lineage 2 doesn't have is, group points. Except than belonging to a clan, what about benefits from having a CP with your close friends. Benefits could vary from time you're together and how successful the group is during pvp/pve or raid/quest hunting or strategy tactics calculated by the system itself.

Every CP could register to an NPC that calculates their point earned through out all the hunting. Of course, registering a CP would require a few things and apply penalties upon dispell of a member or withdrawal to keep things balanced.

Things like this can bring the game to whole other level.

Can you discuss more on this idea? This can bring lot more features.

CP signing for a fortress to earn additional points, unlocking further features.
CP vs CP battles.

Players will still be able to party without forming a CP but without any benefits as registering.

I would also like to see players in clan wars to NOT be able to form groups with each other as now. That destroys the whole point of this game. Or upon forming a group with a member of opposing clan, their name is displayed on screen of every member of that clan so they all can see their trators. :D

More ideas and features please! This is the players game!

These were only rumors, yes in the first month of the last year NCsoft did see through the possibility of this. They just collected information, didn't start to develop nothing. (this was just fake rumors from MMO sites which creates news to get more readers).

But they already work on the Lineage Eternal what need to be released at least 1-2 years in Korea too if not more.

Also the NC wasn't financially in so good situation, in the last time, that they would be able to spam the newer and newer games without brain.

Nowadays isnt good business make new MMOs most of them fail in longer term.

Also most of Lineage 2 player would happy if they simple rework some content here, what they plan to do.

Right now to make a new Lineage or a new MMO for the NCsoft is just waste of money and waste of time.

I'm able to pay thousands of Dollars to play Lineage 2 if we look to longer term, but I never wouldn't pay for another Lineage or for another MMO!
Lineage 3?
Engine: Unreal Engine 4?

"NCSOFT Licenses Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 4"

"CARY, N.C. and SEOUL – Epic Games (http://www.epicgames.com/), Inc. has licensed Unreal Engine 4 to NCSOFT through a long-term deal that grants the renowned publisher and developer of massively multiplayer online (MMO) games to utilize Epic’s groundbreaking technology and tools for upcoming projects. NCSOFT secured its license through Epic Games Korea (http://www.epicgameskorea.com/) and is the first Korean studio to license Unreal Engine 4."

I'm so happy right now, let the world know a new era of MMORPG is coming! There's no way it's gonna be AION 2. It will be Lineage 3 using the best Unreal Engine available! Prepare your graphic cards, prepare your Solid State Drivers, prepare your girlfriends! :D

I always knew to stay faithful to Lineage 2. I haven't played a single other MMORPG since chronicle 1! This day would come!

PS; You guys think they talking about Blade & Soul when they say "the best game ever made by ncsoft using UE 4" ?
Yea, too early for aion2, no way, they just boost the game graphics last year. It says there blade and soul is using 3.0.
Lol, you are talking about Guild Wars 2.
Guild Wars 2 are done...

If I would NCSOFT Lineage II and that is the best business and I can keep it, would Lineage II Chapter 4 with Unreal Engine 4 and that could make the best game ever for 10 year more.

Or think of betting in a Lineage III, but could fail if not perfect. As happened with Counter Strike losing playability. In version 1.6 thousand hours playing in the new did not like.

As Lineage II player if not leave it all for more Lineage III, I follow this game from C4 and will continue

I think you should stop the conspiracies.

1. Both still the Lineage and Lineage 2 financially successful.
2. the Lineage Eternal is under development too and it will need still long time while it release.
3. If the Lineage Eternal release might be for 3-4 years after its release date, won't release any another Lineage game.
4. Both the Lineage 2 and AION get high focus and high money invest to rebuild them, so this also says, that NC doesn't want to support first of all his exist titles.
5. Often come up the words, that the Lineage 2 would need a new engine, so can happen, that they will rewrite the graphic of L2 and add to game as they did with the AION.
6. Also a development of a game request about 5 years too. So any game what the NCsoft want freshly develop with the Unreal Engine 4 just will release in 2018-2020 in Korea.
7. Many fact shows, that most of the MMORPG series are hard fails and waste of money, while the old or older series from the title still work very well, these are MMO games aren't GTA or FIFA what need new title in every 2-3 years.

So, better if you focus to Lineage 2 and play with:)

Juji, can you put this thread to off topic please? It isn't about the Lineage 2.
They won't rewrite L2 engine, else they would've stoped updates, instead of writing code to old engine over and over. They cannot pass the work of 8-9 years without a huge break on current updates unless they had 2 teams for that, and since L2 has decreased on ranks over the years, specialy now, with the l2 crisis, and the shortage of NC staff, they won't be able to hire a 2nd team to rewrite a full aged game into a new gen engine else they would have done that the moment the game was going down( AKA goddes of destruction).
To develop big mmorpg it takes atleast 4-5 years and will take probably 1 year to make a team and set goals so we probably are looking at 2019-2020 date like someone said already. Lineage2 come out 2003 in Korea! They clearly will need new Lineage series to follow L2. So I predict it will be L3 if it really did get cancelled now because its not logical for them to wait even more.

This topic is not about Lineage 2 completely but the idea of Lineage 3 is a continous of Lineage 2 and it has been around for quite some time, matter of fact they did assemble a team for it but "something" happened on the way with one of their major devs, rumors say, so the project stopped. (Don't wanna go too much in details on this since this thread is not about discussion if Lineage 3 will be released or not.)

Thanks for your suggestion and interest on my personal time and how I spend it but if you realize this topic is about how the players would want a brand new Lineage 2, using unreal engine 4 and having surreal graphics / features so if you would like to contribute to this idea feel free.

Lineage 2 has been around for a very long time and it's the only MMOPRG I've played and i will continue to play until a Lineage 3 is out.

If Lineage 2 has been so successful all these years, think about it, what kind of impact would it have using unreal engine 4.

Please discuss what kind of features would you want to see in this game.

Well look, as the NCKorea told and do they support already games and all of their brands older titles too.
So as the Lineage 2 in every form a total different game as the Lineage and the Lineage Eternal will take total different gameplay too, might be if they will have idea or plan to make any kind of Lineage it will also totally different in its gameplay too as the exist titles.
Not like the ArenaNet made the Guilds Wars and after GW2 or Everquest and EQ 2.

Also Lineage 1 takes very good incomings what also increasing mostly constantly.
While since the Chapter 3 update release the Lineage 2 did increase its incomings with 19%. What is a very nice number, if we look, that the player didn't get with the new update new level cap and the game is 9 years old.

NCsoft should make any MMORTS or MMO sci-fi by this way they could expand their incomings, because if they spam these Middle Age focused Fanatasy MMORPGs they just hold up each others incomings.
Considering that Lineage 2 was released 5 years after Lineage 1, don't expect a Lineage 3 being released so soon, it will take at least 5 years after the release of Lineage Eternal(it is supposed to be released in 2014-2015, so, a L3 could come in 2019-2020).

Regarding the lore, I would bet that Lineage 3 could be between L2 and L1, therefore, the chronology of Lineage franchise would be something like this:

Lineage 2 -> (100 years so so) -> Lineage 3 -> (100 years so so) -> Lineage 1 -> (200 years) -> Lineage Eternal

Remember that Lineage 2 is 200 years before Lineage 1, so L3 could be something like 100 years after L2 and 100 years before L1.

Regarding classes and gameplay, I expect something new, totally new and more interesting classes, a fluent WASD gameplay and advanced physics, because NC wouldn't license UE4 to make the same robotic gameplay and outdated classes as L2 but with better graphics, just no, they will explore all capacities of UE4, bringing the best gameplay it can offer.

If you look at Lineage Eternal, it has a very advanced gameplay-physics compared to its predecessor(Lineage 1). While L1 has a robotic gameplay, Eternal has a fluent action gameplay, physics and good interaction with environment, in other words, several innovations that Lineage 1 can't offer.

The same with L3: L3 needs to offer what L2 can't due to its outdated engine. So don't expect a "C4" with better graphics, it won't happen, everything in a future L3(UE4) must be new and have a quantum leap compared to what L2(Unreal 2.5) can offer.

Regarding classes, as I said above, I expect totally different classes, and off course, much more creative ones in terms of skills and gameplay. And, as Yunalesca said, a much healthier game, low buff dependence and a better crafting system. L2, in my opinion, has the worst and the poorest crafting system I've ever seen in an MMO. For L3, they could look at Guild Was 2 and ArcheAge as examples, they have a much wealthier crafting system than L2 as well as they have a much bigger item variety than L2.

Considering that Lineage 2 is the only game of NCSoft that has buff dependence and a very poor crafting system(even Lineage 1 is not a buff based game), we can notice that this model didn't work. This is the reason why NC ran away from 'L2 model' when they started developing new games since Aion until now, and all these games have been much healthier and more balanced than L2.

I'm waiting for Lineage Eternal because I'm an old Lineage 1 fan, but if there is a L3 in the future, I'm confident that NCSoft grew up enough and they will run away from the model of L2 as they are doing to all their new games so far, so L3 will be a much healthier game.
The lore of L3 should be a continuation of L2 lore up to and including the release of the expansion with the Kamaels but go no further (the lore becomes too inconsistent at that point and even at that point the lore is already stretching near onto breaking). The lore should not concern itself with L1, in fact it should be a full deviation of L1 lore because let's face it, there is no way L1 could have happened if L2 happened prior and I don't know if I'm' alone in this but I don't give a crap about L1 and don't want to be constrained by it.

Eventually we are going to have to either outright kill Shilen or at the very least beat the ever living crap out of her and I'm pretty sure that isn't consistent with L1 lore. And of course the huge amount of power that we've attained (the powers of the gods) in L2 means that there is no way our characters wouldn't still be around by L1 (the elves, Kamael and Dark Elves anyways since those are only species that can last thousands of years and apparently the Kamael never actually age after some point) and because of the huge power we would have there is no way there could still be any strife (since there would only be elves, Kamael and dark elves who had by that point already resolved their differences and become the best of friends) since we would so completely dwarf the puny and pathetic humans that one of us could easily take on and beat all of the human characters. So timeline wise by the time L1 rolled around we'd already have killed all the gods and taken their places, with the elves, dark elves and Kamael lording it over all the other species who will be made into slave races that are unable to rise up against their overlords because of the huge and insurmountable difference in power.

I guess at the point the game's story would involve a rift opening up between the Kamael, elven and dark elven races that eventually leads to war. The player would either play as their current character(if they have a character belonging to one of these 3 races) or play as a new but severely weaker character (who doesn't have godlike power). The gameplay experience I'd imagine would have to be quite different for each type of character with the godlike characters actually existing in some type of otherworld that is only able to marginally interact with Aden where you are competing to provide boons for your followers/slaves on Aden and only able to occassionally be physically present in Aden (where you will reek untold amounts of havoc for a few brief minutes before having to return) whereas as one of the weaker characters the gameplay probably wouldn't be all the different from how it is now.

What you said doesn't make sense, because both L2 and L1 lores are connected.

The way i understand the lore leads to L1, theres just some deviations but, i might be wrong but i understood it this way:

Kamaels were only set free because of danger of shillien, something tells me they get re-sealed after shilien is dead.

Shilen is dead on L1 and dark elves went into hiding after her death, maybe shame? Aren't dark elves allies in L1? It would be logical since dark elves no longer worship shillien and would have no reason to wage war on elves.

Correct if im wrong.
What you said doesn't make sense, because both L2 and L1 lores are connected.

The lore is connected only in so far as they share a basis. However they are disconnected because L2 creates in an inevitable deviation from that lore owing to player interaction and changes to the game world that have cropped up with the release of each successive chronicle. Supposing that they finally allow us to kill Shilen and we decide not to or decide instead to redeem her?. How would that then square off with L1 lore? Or how about the fact that we've already killed off all the raid bosses (Baium, the dragons) that were supposed to be present in L1? Or what about the Kamael? How do they factor in? And what about those Giants? We've killed all of those off already and pretty much solved all the world's problems such that there really wouldn't be anything for any succeeding generations to do.

The Kamaels were sealed to protect them from the sight of the gods while the Giants machines perfected their design to make them stronger. They were unsealed because they were finally completed and able to fulfill the purpose of their creation. It really wouldn't make sense for them to become sealed off again, especially now they are so integrated into the world and no longer pose a threat to the gods since they no longer desire to destroy them. I'm not even sure that the gods would be able to reseal them at this point since the only reason why the Giants weren't able to use them to completely slaughter all the gods was because the Kamael design hadn't been perfected at the time but they are perfected now. The gods trying to reseal the Kamaels would in all probability create a new war between heaven and earth and this time the gods would be sorely outmatched (because not only are the Kamaels stronger but the other races are much stronger as well). According to no longer available lore, the Kamaels were the only beings who were able to kill the gods and they were the Giant's ultimate weapon against the gods and their only hope of destroying the gods and staving off their own destruction.

It just seems we've reached a point where trying to square off the events (in game events performed by players and those only mentioned through the pieces of lore that are written for each major update) would require so much retconning that the end result simply wouldn't be worth the bother. It would be much easier to say that L2 is a deviation from L1 and then make L3 follow the events from L2. In essence L3 would replace L1 because L1 is no longer on the same timeline that L2 has followed.

That's happened in plenty of fictions where the prophet talks about how their are many different possible branches the future can take and they can never be sure which one is correct until some major decision is made that forces the present onto one of many possible branches.

I know it might seem easy to simply have NC say that a thousand years have passed and just wave their magic wands and say everything was fixed in the background, but that isn't possible when you have 3 species whose members would have been alive between L2 and L1, and those members would in all likelihood have been the very ones who attained the most power during the darkest days of L2. You couldn't have another level 10 raid boss causing chaos and destruction in elf land when that land is guarded over by 200 elves who all gained the powers of a god and would want to protect their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren (well you get the idea). That just wouldn't make sense.

Shilen is dead in L1, dark elves changed their god and culture, as well as they lost their gray color and became brown skinned, kamael were re-sealed. Dragons are still alive in L1. Baium was defeated, but ToI was re-built and it ended having 100 floors in L1, on its 100th floor, the boss Grim Reaper lives.

The main villain in L1 in the one called "false king" whose true name is Ken Raheul, I am not aware of the current lore and I forgot many details, but all I can say is that L2 is slowly going to the beginning of L1 lore. Unless you theory is right and the decide to make L3 as a kind of L1 remake.

In the beginning of Eternal gameplay, we can see that it happens "200 years after the war of the False King" so there are no doubts that LE is 200 years ahead of L1.

But L3 is not announced, it won't happen before LE release, so we can say nothing about where its lore is set, they can easily make L3 200 years after Eternal instead of something between L2 and L1.
I really wish they would just do a reboot of Lineage 2. TAke out everything out of the lore since gracia updates, make gracia a secondary continent, with playable Ole Malhum, tribal lizardman and Silenos races.

I.

I think siege play should take the forefront of the game regardless, the rule of kingdoms taking the main focal point, Only adding major continental invasions of Gracia and Aden playing an important role to solitary castle influence (a gludio castle ownership may obtain a sustainable influence bonus on trade, spoil,or raids for instance) When a dwarf raises a golem...the enemy should fear it, and we should gaze at it in wonderment.

II.

I think the gods should have an influence in character development. Priests of racial faiths having to partake pilgrimages, Fighters taking on quests, and clans taking missions for glory and honor.

III

Finally I think there should be a dark power looming above it all...(more then likely our favorite Shillen Goddess seems to be the benefactor of this task) That after an annual long timescale, destroys the world if certain conditions aren't (or are...depending on religious beliefs of race) in a veil of destruction (think huge end game end of world ****) that sets a server reset, and we all start anew....maybe with an awakened skill.

If I was going to make L3 or an L2 reboot...these are the improvements I'd make to the generalized game play

But if you get what I am trying to say you would understand that this is a situation that couldn't possibly occur if the events in L2 are true. You couldn't have a "false king" (obviously human because NC is extremely biased against anything elvish in nature going so far as to constantly forget that elves do in fact live for thousands of years) creating drama because there would be hundred and thousands of Kamaels, dark elves and light elves hanging about with godlike powers acting as a global police force to make sure that the short lived races aren't screwing up the world for their children and their children's children.

The only way that drama could erupt is if the members of the 3 long lived races with the godlike powers decided that they could no longer get along and desired the annihilation of each other. But that wouldn't occur over the result of some coronation problem involving a human king because humans would no longer be capable of exercising military might owing to the fact that all of ther powerful guardians who could have put on check on the guardians of the kamael, elves and dark elves succumbed to the frailty of their human existances and have long since turned to dust. Thus the humans are essentially subject to policing by external forces who could have easily nipped the problem in the bud before it ever became a problem.

Don't underestimate humans, the False King was able to control all the dark elf kingdom, and so, the King killed thousands of dark elves in sacrifice to summon a powerful demon called Girtas.

You're just not getting it.

That king would be nothing more than a worm in the future L2 world that is ruled over by thousands of evlen, dark elven and kamael gods. That's why L1 could not succeed L2.

This human king is only human and would never been able to rise to any power because he would have been quickly squashed by a bug by the thousands of godlike beings who encompass a global police force who wield unrivaled powers that can only be matched any another of their kind. Humans then become nothing more than ants to be crushed beneath the boot heels of these godlike beings.

The only reason why L1 turned out the way it did is because of NC's huge bias against elves of any nature. They completely and continuously walk all over the elves at every oppurtunity by turning them into a titular species despite the fact that elves really should be the dominant race considering how long lived they are, the amount of magical ability they should have and the huge amoung of skill and knowledge each elf accumulates over its lifetime.

Also if you take into account dark elven sexuality and longevity you are looking at a species that would have a constantly exploding population. And a constantly exploding population would need to constantly acquire more and more land and more and more slaves. Since the humans are relatively short lived and therefore easily manipulable they would quickly be enslaved and all their land seized by the dark elves. So instead of a human ruling over the dark elves the more logical situation would have the dark elves ruling over the humans.

I was thinking of something more along the lines of the Sword of Truth series.
Battling on horses : put some kind of skill while riding to have chances to knock down your enemies i mean.. i wanna see THIS! in a siege (i've already suggested in another thread)

Some characters voices, screams and thos ***** while fighting

Have the oportunity to do group instance in solo, i mean, there are days where u have to wait like an hour to get a healer or tank for instances, so being able to do those instance in solo mode would be nice, of course it will count if u did it solo u can't do it again in group, (to not leech exp) and there is also de fact that there are players that enjoys playing on party and other enjoys playing alone.

And finally if Lineage 3 would follow same storyline, BRING TO GAME THE GOD **** GODS STORY TALKS ABOUT (EINHASAD & GRAN KAIN) AND LET THE BATTLE WE ARE WAITING FOR, BEGIN!

Later*

Im not familiar with that :p

It's just that capcom has this lol idea of branching games and not finishing their stories(future, diferent timeline, diferent universe), like megaman and devil may cry. Things which can lead to loopholes/contradictions.

On topic, i'd like races conflict lore to begin again. Im more fond of good vs evil where you can play characters belonging to any of those, like dark elves being evil..>> I don't wanna be on the good corner always, it would be fun if killing a certain boss which is state by aden law to be "sacred" to give player big amount Karma/Infamy if killer by that player/party. Ofc the boss would reward you stuff. This makes it a bit dynamic imo, and more inside the story of the game. Heck it could go even further has having castles charging more taxes from you for a week or a month for killing that raid. For charity, community service. :D

I understand your point, but you can do nothing, because who makes the lore is the NC.

A video about it, it shows all the dark elven kingdom being sacrified, the souls of all dark elven throughout all kingdom are stolen from their bodies, just some dudes stayed alive. After the sacrifice is completed, the false king(the guy who appears in 3:00+ with a black coat) says: Everything is going as planned. And so, his demon ally laughs. After that, Girtas arm appears from the earth.

1. How do you imagine Lineage 3 to be like?

Same Game, but with a FULL new territory, Aden vs another one, and with much new concept in interfaces, graphics, skill Fx, etc, like Neverwinter or Tera

4. Do you want your characters to be able to jump?

Yes.

Why do many people want all the games with the same characteristics? It doesn't worth it to play games with no difference!

If you want a Lineage 3 with: WoW, TERA, Aion, S.U.N, LOTRO, D&D, DiabloIII characteristics, just go to play one of these games or maybe make lineage 3 as a new client and do not touch the l2 one that has been damaged too much in the last 2 years.

You know, i love differents MMORPGs or simple RPGs because are different compared with other games in the same style. For example, lineage 2 and Diablo.

If i would like to play a lineage 3, it would be on a different client that doesn't intervene with my l2 account!

But that is exactly why L2 cannot be thought of as leading to L1.

When L1 was created, they never expected that L2 lore would arrive at the place where we are today. L1 was created as if it was the first and only game in the series so no thought was given to try creating lore that would logically follow from the conclusion of a prequel game to be made in the future.

And because no thought was given to whether this opening could logically follow the conclusion of a prequel, the L1 dev team created an opening for their game that couldn't possibly be thought of as arising from a prequel simply so that their game would feel like there was a lot of drama for the players to solve and live in. This opening had no prequel, it was the origination of a brand new world and this was the point of creation for that world.

The dev team will simply have to accept that a complete deviation of the lore was the inevitable result of running a prequel for 9 years and counting. Especially for their failure to give appropriate deference to races whose lifespans are measured in millenia and not decades.

I guess that's true.

With the Megaman X series and Megaman Zero series where they are loosely connected in so far as some of the characters share a name but if you follow all the Zero games you realize that the game is based on a completely different history from the Megaman X games that were supposed to proceed it but obviously coult not have.

Or DMC 1 and 3 where in 1 Dante is like "OMG I have a brother" and then in the prequel, DMC 3, he battles his brother on numerous occassions despite the obvious continuity problem where he couldn't be surprised about finding out he had a brother in DMC 1 if he already fought him in the prequel.

Again, you can't say what they can do or can not do, they decide what they want to put in the lore. It doesn't matter how much a race lives. In this kind of world, a human eventually achieves thousands of years through dark magic. A witch called Cerenis, a human who was able to live for centuries due to dark rituals went to him(false king) and made a deal with him, she taught him all the dark magic knowledge she has, even this ritual in this movie, the only one who new it was Cerenis, it is a very ancient dark ritual.

Nor can NC say what can and can't be done. Once something is written and published it cannot be undone. NC should have known that the risk of creating a long running prequel is that they would arrive at a point which makes L2 irreconcileable with L1. Indeed if NC had intended L1 would have a prequel then they should have started witha less implausible scenario than the one they chose which was high on drama but short on believeability or plausibility.

NC cannot, by means of waving a magic wand, resolve a huge continuity problem by simply saying that there is no continuity when the actual hard facts before the audience proves otherwise.

When there is an irreconconciable continuity problem then the only way to resolve the problem is by seperation, either by rewriting time and thereby setting one or both of the nonconforming events onto a different timeline so that it didn't happen on the main timeline or by setting it within an alternate universe so that it didn't happen at all.

Ex: Dante clearly can't simulatenously both not know he has a brother (DMC 1) and know he has a brother (DMC 3). Capcom can only resolve this problem by choosing which DMC game they are going to accept as the true sequence of events however in so doing they are also choosing which sequence of events are not true and thereby consinging the nonconforming game into an alternate sequence of events which have no bearing on the sequence of events accepted as the true sequence of events. Thus retconning doesn't resolve continuity problems by bringing disparate events together through a ridiculously implausible retelling of events, retconning resolves continuity problems by removing and quarantining the noncomforming game and generating a brand new sequence of events to replace it. But in so doing the retconner always runs the risk that the audience will have only been exposed to the nonconforming deleted game and when the sequel they will be presented with will not be the sequel to the game they played so for that audience the game will not be a sequel but a brand new game with a brand new lore.

Dark elves can't both have godlike powers and be killed by level 1 Keltirs. NC will have to choose to either allow dark elves to keep their god like powers and accept that in so doing they will not be killable by level 1 Keltirs or else rewrite history to make it so that dark elves never acquired godlike powers and are thus still susceptible to being killed by level 1 keltirs. But any game created from this rewritten history can never be a sequel to the game which was deleted from the sequence of events so either L3 must either be a sequel to L2 and not related to L1 or else it must be related to L1 and L2 isn't a prequel to it.

As far as your random deus ex machina npc, this npc makes no functional sense within the world of aden. Short of singing "Anything You Can Do" from Annie Get your Gun (which fairly closely parallels the treatment of elves in Lineage), I will simply say that anything a human can do, a light elf can do to.

The difference between a human and an elf is like the story of the monkey trying to capture the moon. However close he thinks he is to the moon, its still just the reflection of the moon in the middle of the lake. The more he struggles to capture it, the more he sinks like a fool.

And since elves live longer they will inevitably be able to do more. Elves will be able to learn more, pass on more to their offspring and because they have strong healthy and young bodies for thousands of years they will not forget nearly as much and this higher rate of retention means elves have to continuously relearn less since they forget less. As light elves do not need to waste so much time relearning the knowledge that is lost when one of their most sage members dies (because the sage community member will in fact still be alive in a sane, young and healthful body), they will be more able to acquire new knowledge brancing off the knowledge they already acquired. Whereas humans have to continuously refer to libraries hoping they can find something in a thousand year old musty tome, every light elf will already possess the knowledge that a 20 year old human would have to go hunting for.

Thus this 300 year old magic ritual that no other human knows because it was lost to time is just an example of one of the spells that every light elf would know and would never have been forgotten because the light elf who figured it out 300 years ago would still be alive teaching it to her students 300 years later. In fact not only would this spell still be part of the light elves common knowledge but they would have long figured out how to improve it and incorporate it into the rest of their other knowledge, achieving a far greater level of mastery than a human could ever hope of achieving. The same is basically true for any other art or craft. A human grandmaster is doomed to die rigth when they achieve their greatest mastery of their craft but an elf would be able to continue well past that point because they would have another couple thousand years to go further.

I have yet to see a writer who was able to fully appreciate the benefit that elves acquire by being able to live so long. Indeed most writers, including those writing for NC, have no choice but to completely forget either intentionally or unintentionally that elves live for thousands of years and instead simply treat them as if they were especially weak and vulnerable humans whose hair never greyed and whose face never wrinkled.

There is also the problem that humans are innately inferior mages because they were made from the castoff leftovers that the other gods discarded when making their own races. It is extremely unlikely that a human would be able to achieve the knowledge or ability of an elf even by artificial means because their bodies and spirits simply are not capable of supporting it owing to their natural inferiority. And even if they did, an elf could via the same means obtain the same ends but be placed even further ahead on the course because they started the race further.
This was beautiful Ellisande, thank you! You should be working for NC, maybe they would learn a few things!

You are comparing real world(where we are weak) with magic and unreal world. Takes Lord of The Rings as example, we know that orcs are mortals, humans too, elves live forever, but Sauron, an orc, created a magic ring that was able to make him immortal, along with this ring, he made more 19 rings, so he gave 3 to dorfs, 9 to humans and 7 to elves, all those people who received those rings became immortal spectra that don't sleep, don't eat or whatever, live forever and are controlled by Sauron's will.

So according to you, orcs don't live forever, so they aren't able to create such magic to become immortals...

This subject in Lineage is similar: a human started studying dark magic, found out a ritual which allows her to become immortal, and so she started killing everybody who knew powerful dark magic,as the time passes, she was the only(or one of few) person who knew powerful and ancient dark magic by the time of L1.
So according to you, humans, orcs or whatever can't do such things just elves can make something like this. So the main villain in TLOTR should be an elf instead of an orc.

Another no sense thing you said is that humans are comparable to lvl 1 elpy, so players who control humans should not pass from level 1, but we know that in game, humans beat dark elves-elves or whatever, because in a magic world of a RPG, book or whatever, everything is possible and even with humans, orcs being mortals, they can face elves or whatever, and they are also able to create powerful magic to control the world.
LoL xD can't believe i've read the whole thing haha anyway
as far as i know Orcs in Lineage II are NOT immortal, they are physical strong than any other race out there, so i don't think they can achieve high levels of magic, and about humans.... according to L2 background story, elves were surprised about how fast human learn magic, and Beleth was de only one who knew the secreto of immortality learned by the leader of dark elves himself, anyway it is clear that elves and dark elves are more suitable to learn high lv magic than any other race in game, but don't forget that despite they knowledge about magic were not enough to stop humans when this rebelled against elves and forced them to retreat to Elven Village, so... NO!, orcs cannot achieve high lv magic, so they cannot become immortal and humans does can defeat elves due to it's high popultation than skilled they could be.

Sauron was not an orc. He was an immortal near deity from the other world. The orcs on the other hand were corrupted elves (that might have been the movie only and not the book but it does explain why they were such useless soldiers). And if memory serves me right those rings were actually the creations of the elves who got duped into making them by Sauron (they thought he was a super nice guy at the time). And the bearers of those rings didn't become immortal. The elves who were already immortal continued to be immortal. The human men (notice that only the elves were progressive enough to have a woman leading one of the elvish city states) who wore the rings would have died had they not been turned into wraiths (which was a complete corruption of the body and the soul caused by the voluntary and greedy acceptance of the ring's Sauron gave them). As for the dwarves, very little was explained in the book as to their fate and it wasn't of any importance since the only actual dwarf in the entire trilogy is Gimli.

The trilogy doesn't explain whether or not the orcs are immortal but I think it is fair to assume that they aren't and even if they were it wouldn't be of any import because the orcs are of such low intelligence and base nature that living forever wouldn't be of any value either to them or Sauron. The orcs were also shown as being unable to use magic (this was symbolically important because Tolkien wanted the orcs to represent the force of human industry that if left unchecked and unregulared would corrupt and destroy both nature and man [nature and magic are very closely intertwined]), in all likelihood because of their original corruption.

In Lineage 2, dark elves also know dark magic (my lore is a little hazy on the exact timeline but essentially Gran Kain taught the humans dark arts, elves taught the humans magic and in return the humans taught the elves [Shilen was originally goddess of water which obviously being a symbol of purity meant that Shilen was most certainly not going to corrupt the minds of her children by teaching them dark arts]). Of course this entire timeline proceeds as if the Giants never existed because it isn't clear why the gods would jointly create the Giants and then go on to create their own unique species modeled after themselves. Shilen is an interesting goddess in this regard because the elves she creates don't resemble the normal description of her which is a woman from head to waist and then a snake from the waist down. I believe that Shilen was influenced by the character Sin from Milton's Paradise Lost.

Sin is an allegorical character, met by Satan at the gates of Hell in Book II of Paradise Lost. She holds the key to Hell's gate and opens the gate so that Satan (her father) can pass through on his way out of Hell. Sin has no mother but was born out of Satan himself at his rebellious assembly in heaven, both an allegorical representation of his sin against God and a parody of God's creation of the Son. Sin is 'woman to the waist' (II.650) and has a fish's tail, but she shifts shape and is constantly re-forming and breeding, giving birth to dog-like young. She has no control over these changes but is held captive by cruel pregnancies in a body in perpetual labour, cursed by her own fertility. Satan formed himself on his daughter [Sin] in heaven.

If you read the lore you will note how closely Shilen parallels Sin with a few minor differences (Shilen's lower half is that of a snake, and she gives birth to dragons instead of dogs).

I think it is therefore no surprise that dark elves would use magic and I am fairly certain that Shilen (after being ***** by her father) would have taught the dark elves dark arts even if the humans had not passed on Gran Kain's knowledge. I also expect that because Shilen saught the death of her father that she probably passed on additional knowldge of the dark arts to the dark elves which were unknown by the humans. (In fact there is a CG movie showing a ritual where Shilen's priestess Lilith is in the middle of a particular dark ritual that resulted in a large amount of blood flowing from her eyes and the moon turning red and an eye appearing in the middle of it (this was the CG movie for Chronicle 2 which hinted at the Dawn/Dusk cycle of released in Chronicle 3). It is very important to note two things: 1) Shilen supplants Kain as the god of dark and evil arts 2) Shilen's highest priest after this change is a dark elf.

As Shilen becomes the god of dark and evil arts we are meant to assume that she possesses at least as much knowledge of the dark/evil arts as Gran kain (if not more) and having turned entirely evil and vindictive in nature she would have sought to use the dark elves to accomplish her task and in order to accomplish that task would imparted them with much more knowledge of the dark arts than they could have learned from the humans. Those dark elves who were taught by Shilen would have been given knowledge of the dark arts that were not possessed by any human (she would be especially hateful of the humans who were the creation of Gran Kain [see above]). Thus a certain degree of knowledge and a propensity for hating and not trusting humans would have passed from Shilen to the dark elves. The dark elves at this point would have possessed more knowledge of the dark arts than the humans and owing to what I posted previously this knowledge divide would have only increased over time.

There is thus no possiblity that some human Schutta would possess more knowledge of the dark arts than dark elves would a thousand years after Lineage 2 because that would imply that during and even before Lineage 2 the dark elves would have had to possess either no knowledge of the dark arts or less knowledge of the dark arts than humans which I have clearly shown could not be the case (combining this post with my last long post). There really isn't any need to go further here because I have sufficiently demonstrated why there is a sufficiently large degree of seperation between L2 and L1 such that L1 cannot possibly proceed L2.

As for the Keltir comment, you are correct in saying that I was using Keltirs to symbolize humans. However you are incorrect in saying that magic will make everyone equal because the elves I was refering to were the elves of the current chronicle who were given the powers of gods, a power which vastly exceeds the power that the elves possessed before and would therefore vastly exceed the power of a normal human a thousand years later in Lineage 1 who did not possess the power of a god nor the knowledge greater than 100 human generations. In Fantasy, magic has usually been related to knowledge where the person with the greater knowledge has more powerful magic (but some fantasy treats magical prowess as a product of destiny [the innate magical ability and prowess given to a hero so that theyc an overcome all opposition] and not of knowledge, and some fantasy uses a combination of knowledge and destiny. Manga usually ties magical power to destiny and not knowledge). In Lineage, elves not only have a higher magical ability (greater destiny) but also a much higher magical knowledge. No matter how you try to slice it a human simply is not going to be able to match an elf because humans have both less knowledge and less magical ability.
