Hi folks. I recently awakened to ISS and am at level 85 still. I was doing a Kartia85, as the buffer for first time, and it didn't go well. Actually it went really well until the upper level (based on about 20+ goes with my Tyrr). I was accused of being a bot, not buffing when asked (not true) and when I was killed, wasn't rezzed, and the party went on to finish without me (without buffs no less?). So, clearly, I must have been doing something wrong. I buffed the sonotas before they ended, stayed ahead of the other buffs, I thought, and when I checked the toons, they seemed to have their buffs. Apparently there is something called active buff view, which I couldn't find. When asked for harmony buffs, I clicked the asker and than the buff, It seemed to work. At any rate, after a google search I couldn't find any kind of tutorial on how to best use an ISS in a party. If anyone can help, or direct me to something that will help me, I would very much appreciate it. It was a little disturbing to be accused of botting and being AFK while I was there in the instance.Thanks.
Well...your job as Iss is not just to buff and do nothing you know.You are able to assist your party in many different ways.
You can heal,resurrect (if needed) and weaken large groups of monsters.You have 2 mass skills that lower p.atk/m.atk and p.def/m.def.....USE them allways....you are crowd controler...not just a buffer :)
When you go to the second room in kartia 85..just before the boss room..usualy the tank will go ahead and gather all mobs.After he does that...go next to him and cast Giant Root (this way you make sure that your ranged DPSrs will not be disturbed),then spam your 2 mass skills as much as you can untill all mobs die :).When your party enters the boss room you need to rebuff!Be carefull when you buff...make sure everyone is in range!
Allways heal.Watch your MP...make sure you have enough for buffs and other stuff.
+If there is Wyn Summoner in party..pay attention to his summons.If he has Reapers that means you have to give him Wizard harmony.If he summoned Cougars...you must give him Warrior Harmony.
Thank you for your reply. I hadn't considered range. I did use the skills you mentioned, although they didn't seem to be effective. In previous trips to Kartia, on second level once the main was killed we moved on, without killing the rest. I did have to use the heal melody when the healer and another toon got into a PVP in the middle of the last level. I think the main issue may have been range. I guess I will have to learn that one. You have been most helpful.
You will learn.The range thing is easy.
Lets say your paty is scattered in all directions and they are fighting Zellaka...Now...imagine all of you are inside 1 circle...you go to the centerpoint of that circle and buff :)
Or you could ask them to get closer to you.\ i guess it wont hurt them much :P \
First of all, make kartia parties yourself - make room for 86-89 only, or even 87-89. so weak DD with mentors buffs (and damage penalty!) will stay away
And always buff yourself knight harmony. Since you cant produce any decent damage - you must make your p def more higher to prevent problems.

Thats true, always do mass debuffs. Unless you are being said otherwise.

In the party window there's a little icon consisting in 4 dots. Clicking on that lets you turn on several different views: first the buffs of the party members, then the debuffs, the toggles, the special buffs and finally turn off the view again. Just click on the little dots and leave the buff view on. That's how the buffers check if someone needs buffs.
upper left that lists the members, just need to click once to view all the buffs
make sure you can see all the party members' names on screen without having to click on them before doing sonatas, i usually back off from the mob abit and center myself within the group when the last minute countdown starts, buff then use rush to go back in to the mob.
as for heals, one of them said if an iss needs to heal, the party's too weak. though this comment is partly true, i think certain situations require that extra heal from the iss as some bosses and groups do massive damage after the healer's balance, so it's more about the timing of the heals than the actual need imho (i usually target myself and use the heal to get the most out of the heal for those around me)
and regarding the harmonies for melee and healers, i think it's safe to always start it off with knight as one of the comments mentioned, but there are those rare toons who've out geared themselves for the level and can manage to have the class specific harmonies , hell i've had parties where i've given only warrior and wizards to all the members because i knew they were good and just so happens to be my CP =P
so always be observant of the situation and you'll be a real good iss in no time.

We are talking about random party not well organized one.I've been put in situations where the Healer would prefer to waste mana on killing mobs...instead on healin others or sumply doesnt have enough experience to do his job good.

Again...he may be put in situation where the Aeore is down and nobody has B-Res (happened to me) ..so what do you suggest then?
-Leave party and w8 for Kartia to finish then getting B-Res by friend when your body gets moved to the town? :D that what you do?
-Maybe healer should go back to city and reenter kartia?Which means he will be screwed(- SOME %).
....60% is better than nothing and there are situations where he will have to use it.

Please Uninstall if you have to google how to play your class.
Not everyone is an L2 savant. Some people needs tips. Instead of bashing the OP for admitting that they may not understand how to play the class, you should respect the OP's humble request for advice.
Best advice I can give you Duker58 I to just play your class, you will learn from your mistakes on the game, and dude don't google how to do stuff, if you shout in aden or giran long enough someone is bound to pm you and let you know, also join a pve clan they will help you level and gear if they are any good. Make wise choices in L2 and always play legit. Thats what I can give you for advice. When I first started playing L2 I had friends to help me learn so I learned quickly because my first toon was actually a BladeDancer and when I didn't dance on time one of my friends bought one of those nerf guns and shot at me to dance. It was good times.

Knight Harmony is not an option. You need Wizard harmony it gives you 20% skill cooldown reduction. WIth Immortal heavy set you cannot die with one hit from boss, neither with 2 or 3. For that time you can heal yourself or healer ofcurs. If party need your heal that dont mean party is weak..... dont listen to this guy. Kartia 85 can be done without healer or tank. Its easy .... And even if there is a healer in party, he can lagg/disconnect or just be a sad emo kid who want to ruin your party..... or the healer can be just too stoned ..... and if the weed was too strong, he wont be able to see the HP bars and ...... you know what, just delete that char.
