Guys! What about idea, that we make petition for NCSoft to make some servers with old chronicles? It would get huge amount of players :)! Now l2 is slowly dying, more and more MMORPG's are becoming F2P and people are leaving l2. If NCSoft would make server with older chronicles it would get huge amount of new/old players.. What you think about that?
Sace and Juji aren't "admins" enough for you? (Sace is a retired Community Manager, but when she replied to foolish ideas like yours, she was a full-fledged employee)
And I don't care for yours, so we're even, I guess. It's a shame the "admins" (who are the Community Manager and the Production Assistant) don't agree with you and the "many players" you claim to represent...
Go back to your private server. You are declaring Lineage 2 to be what your opinion is. Lineage 2 is the current content. MMORPG's evolve and change. Go back to your private server.
But its mine topic, so go out of here
Sorry, this is a public forum. Here, let me hold your hand through the perilous journey in the unknown "Search" waters...
Firstly Tiferet1, can you respond nicely? or you just wanna be rude? then i would recommend you to don't write any comments. You just could post that it was mentioned several times but they didn't change their mind and post these links in first post. Not like: NO.
Secondly: if there were posts about this, it means people WANTS to play these old chronicles. Some just don't like the awakening thing, new features, etc. Doesn't matter. And why coming back to private server? Maybe cause it can be bugged, laggy etc? Yeah, that would be the reason.
Anyway, as NC guys don't wanna make this up, people who likes old chronicles just have to go on private servers.
Tif is just a post booster that will respond anyway she can just to get her count up. But as for your idea, One server that had say the prelude version might be cool but unfortunately i dont think they would ever do this.
As for l2 dying, I think it is just a matter of f2p ppl coming here awhile back and now leaving because they cant **** it. soon we will be back to our die hard players and two servers and that is just fine with me. I think we'd see l2 sold off to another company that would take the cash shop idea to new heights before we see l2 shut down. I say this because l2 is one of the best f2p games out there in terms of this style of game. there are of course a lot of western mmos going free to play but if you like these Korean grinders and asian themed pvp games, this is where its at.

I do a search before opening a new thread.
The OP didn't, or didn't read enough results. And he spams the boards with the same thread in different sections. This is called flooding.
No one needs countless threads about the same topic.

Those "people" are mostly private server players who want to play on an official server (to prevent wipes and such), but with the chronicle of their choice.
Not gonna happen.

Everyone has hobbies. This is one of mine.

Sure they do. But when there's large numbers of private servers out there with older chronicles that are taking huge amounts of possible NCsoft customers away, then it's in the good interest of the company to try to bring back those players.
It's not just his opinion. If you do research, there's a lot of private servers with older chronicles that have more activity and players than official servers now.
Imo they're just taking as much money out of the game before they bury it.

It shouldn't be. Clearly a large portion of the community you supposedly serve is requesting this. The least you can do is entertain the thought of possibly bringing some older features of the game back in the future (whether you intend to or not).

I think thats a pretty word for "we dont have a big enough staff" and "Our budget is too small to supprot such a big project".
Either way, i think it would be fun to play older chronicles, i feel the same on several games.
// dont mind the forum warriors, just ignore them ^^

You should ask Korea, and Korea will most likely say "niet".
I never heard of any MMO offering old content along with the newest content. It would require twice the staff, the hardware and the effort to maintain.

I understand that Korea doesn't want it and that's the reason its not happening. But I think you've exaggerated how hard it is for them to do.
What annoys me is the staff that won't even have a discussion about it when they know such a large population would like older features back and that it would revitalize the game and bring them income. Even if it's not going to happen at least show the community that you care for what they think?
And there are games that have brought back older content and greatly profited from it. I'm 100% certain that whatever money gets put into something like this, it could generate much more for NCsoft. It doesn't take any business expertise to know this. If they cared enough to ask the community "who would pay for this?" I'm certain they'd realize it too.
Enough to look the private servers they offer an Interlude or Hellbound client in the first week they has about 5000-6000 players 6 months later about 100.
The Chapter 3 is very close and it is hardly remind me to the C4-Interlude times in its pvp style example.
Everyone wait the Chapter 3 and the upcoming updates, but to return to an older client even would be funny only until some days or weeks.

Uh, well... If you look at Cryo's answer thread, actually I think it is. If the devs really are tailoring overseas L2 versions to the local population needs, it's quite hard keeping track of everything you have changed. It's like programming 4-5 clients with different features and constantly forgetting which feature goes where...
(That would be solved with a bit of organization and written reminders, but hey, we're talking about Korean devs here, who hardly care for Westerners' opinions.)

Totally agree with Tif...you guys are hoping for something stupid.
People don't understand that running an MMO business is not as easy as putting on Immortal Gear. There's a lot of programming, software, hardware, time, and money going into all of this. Not to mention the staff you have to hire and maintain. Comparing the official release with the private servers is just stupid. Private servers admins (illegally) control all the aspects of game, servers, function, and programming. Meaning they can make mods on the fly because they are in full control of the system. NCWest on the other hand only has partial control and can only do so much without NCKorea's permission. They don't control the company and server, therefore cannot do much in terms of independent work (unlike Innova or privates). There's a lot of legal aspect behind this which private servers do not have. Also, private servers also have a much much smaller community base, so it's easier to cater to the community's needs. Official servers don't have that luxury and have to deal with a large amount of players and problems present in the game.
If you want to go back to the so called "old days" go back to your privates. If you want the admin to cater to your every little suggestion go back to your privates. The official won't change and never will change for you. Countless threads have been made on this topic, and I'm pretty sure Juji is facepalming at the amount of people who don't use the "search" button to find answers to their questions.

They can't prevent private servers in certain parts of the world. If Ncsoft wanted to be more global in their customer base they would have servers in several different countries. More than there is now. Many of the players in other countries play on private servers because they do not speak english and it is a server that is native to their culture and language in terms of player base. Also, players want to connect to a server with a closer geographical location to prevent latency as much as possible.
As I said before, no room for private server discussion here or older content servers. Not a legitimate discussion for NcWest forums.
I think Juji's "/end of discussion" should be a clue that they will never open more servers when the current servers are not thriving. People complain of lag, events, bots, cheaters, gameguard and bugs everyday. And that is just with the current servers. How is opening a specialized server going to be any different?
Plus, everything always looks good on paper but when you put time, effort, money and work into making what's on that paper happen, it's a different story. Sure, people say "it's easy, why don't they do it? It won't cost anything than what they are spending now.". Sure it's easy when it's not your money they are risking. It's like going up to Ronald McDonald and saying, "Hey, I love your Big Macs and hanging out in your cool restaurants but can you serve spaghetti and meatballs? I would love to eat some spaghetti and hang out with my friends in your fast food joint. oooh what about Kung Pao Chicken? How about you get a wok and make me some Kung Pao Chicken?"
Private servers are more popular with old chronicles than lineage2 official servers
Your forum name is exactly what im saying right now Lol My God!
If you like older chronicles why are you here? Go to those popular private servers you talk about simple.

There is no chance for an older chronicle server. It cannot be fully supported.
/end of discussion
I suppose many people would like to play on server dedicated to an older chronicle but older chronicles have known bugs that are fixed on later updates. Also setting and old chronicle server wouldn't be like plugging the cable and it can run forever. It would require maintainance. Plus working on different versions of an application isn't very productive.
