even 3 is too much, they should make it 2 clients, your toon and your buffer, but I guess they give you a 3rd one for an afk shop in town, 1st descent step I've seen this company do in the history of the game, watch how mos/gc/loa will be down to 10% population now
This is the most ridiculous change NCSoft is trying to pull. They arent doing this to limit bots, they are doing it just to create more free space on the server for more players so they can get more $$$$$$$$. If they cared about bots they would nerf the drops of places like DVC, HB and other places, then BAN bots. They dont care about that tho, they just want more customers, they dont care about the ones that already play. People need more than 3 boxes to play sometimes. People have to have their mains on, buffers, shops, pvp spies, boxes for raids, etc. All these can add up very quickly, a limit of 3 is ridiculous. When raids have to be done and the clan doesnt have the people on, extra characters have to be logged to get the raid done. If you want more space and more customers, stop doing it the CHEAP way and just get better servers NCSOFT. And only announcing this the day before the update, what is wrong with you guys? Did you even know this was going to happen? Or you just woke up today when Korean devs sent it to you? Botters WILL find a way around this ******ed limit, the legitimate players wont and they will be the ones punished, but why would NC care, they just want more customers, doesnt matter to them whos at a loss, the botters or players. FU NCSOFT, IM QUITTING YOUR BOT GAME YOU CHEAP ********.

Exactly my setup. Main, buffer, rezzer/shop, mentee, shop, shop/camera
And it has been like that for years. Main and buffer, crafter in giran, shop in aden, shop in giran
If they cared about bots they would nerf the drops of places like DVC, HB and other places

i can understand iss box as many times i do that myself but rest of them? healer box for? i usually use iss as healer too. if you need rez, switch class on iss or better visit zaken more often for free brez. i have also iss as mentee on same account with other iss higher. i rarely visit shops, all the stuff i sell/buy is from ah. i really cant understand sometimes what ppl do with so many boxes. there are f2p games that let you with no box, i guess we got too comfortable...

change drops if done on all old spots will prolly have more impact then the 3 clients per pc limit but that's not saying much as bots are just scripts and unless NC can really enforce this max of 3 clients per pc aka emulators/modified clients etc. are no longer possible then sure watch Chronos & Naia lose at least 1k "players" each..
and while I have more then enough pc's at home to keep playing the same way I do now it's kind of an energy waste ^^"

I know they ban bots... Just, I feel like they do it on a whim. ;) And it's mainly ineffective, as they're unable/unwilling to enforce the EULA.
About the multiboxing limit... Nah, many players will be affected, I doubt though that professional botters will.
It's just amusing seeing how many people begged NC to introduce a client limit and when they do, they rage on the boards :p
1) People will find a way around it.
2) People who use out of game solutions will not be limited likely.
3) People will buy piles of crappy computers and virtualize the solutions within them to allow them to bypass this problem.
4) There are people who multi-box legit with many town shops, and organization toons which sell, spy, buff, play on etc.

This is a great change if you find a way to control the easy solutions to the problem, it comes to late however and those who have already farmed the best weaponry in the game and bought every boss jewel 2 times over and made many thousands now just became un-catchable.

I reach close to 99 with good amount of adena, by always 2 clients or just 1. Only at raid event had around 4 open...yes you are right, players got too confortable, and this is more of an exploit than a feature by having 1 man party...

Your problem is that you have let the problem spiral out of control. I dont know how many times i have outlined the solution to these problems to the gm team in the old "fix the bots" thread that sace made.. i outlined solution after solution which solves these problems for you... seems falls on deaf ears. Go read those threads, sace filed them in one place for a reason (its 800+ posts long last i checked). YOu took the easy way out because you do not want to work smarter with your game survailance unit time. This will not solve your problem for longer then 1 week.

I've loaded more for 2nd parties on raids and stuff when needed, but a limit of 3 is a pretty big joke. Farmers will get around it, legit players won't. It also wouldn't surprise me if they held out and offered a paid service to increase this right before the end of a quarter to boost their financials as well.
Regardless, as I posted in the ther thread, this shows that NCwest is completely disconnected from te current state of the game and what players actually do.

dont make jokes, this is serious. this will do NOTHING to stop bots. you think they really care and are doing this for anti bot measures? they are doing this only to stop legit players from logging more so they can have ++$$$$ from more customers. instead of getting better more powerful servers, they are just screwing over real players. I honestly don't care so much about the bots so much as people using ranger to pvp. Limit to 3 box is w/e, but why can't you guys just deal with the real problem which is the program usage.
It's not a big deal, botters-farmers will buy more Pcs and problem solved.
The sad thing is that L2 is a boxed-meant game, you must have at least 2-3 boxes if you want to fulfill simple solo tasks.
I miss Lineage 1 because you only needed one window open to be happy, no need for boxed buffer or whatever, you were happy with your own buffs for solo-small pvp. Buffs were only there to give a small improvement to the party.
Buffs didn't make you from Bruce Banner to Hulk as L2. At least L1 still is a big hit in eastern market.

Main + ISS + mentee + mentee + one boxed dd + summoner in a spot I need summoned to often + a couple spies is really common for me. This change is really making me reconsider my ideas about Innova.

1 for main and 1 for iss... if i 3 box in a party then i need 3 mentees... Also I havent done so in a long time but I have had up to 6 dwarf shops and was planning on doing an onslaught when I finally decided to level up some level 40 dwarf shops....
As far as raids go... I have several 90+ toons I can log to help with raids... I would prefer to just load up a new client to log a character than logging out another character first just much easier.
Lol you can bypass that restric by installing Vmware on your pc and bring up 3-4-5 vm's * 3 clients = 3 from main pc + 9 (3vm * 3 clients)=12.:)

when i came to play on this servers i thought i could find
a real challenge, skilled players
i just found bot users as a "challenge" on pvp (redweapons, auto target,auto draco pots farmed in tons ,etc) bla bla xd.
as hypno says probably now is very late,
i even learned how to bot on this server xd
in the positive aspect this added to the diversification of class, will make (i hope) many ppl will play suport chars and be apreciate for it.
Ps: Isctr i cant log in for week or two, my pet thought my notebook was his wc and.... well make **** over the thing .....xd very funny -.-" i think the notebook could be dead 4 ever >.<

All i did was laugh at your BR country mate for sounding like a dim wit and now i'm a QQ botter ? I never even commented on the boxing situation. Truth is though, all those programs bypass GG. So this dosent effect cheaters in any way, shape or form.
ok it's a great idea to limit 3/pc gz that they finally decided to do smth more practical.
Let's assume they use 2 protection layers
MAC address
Hardware key
To limit the usage of more than 3 boxes.
Let's even assume that they are smart enough to implement this on the new L2.bin file and somehow disallow the usage of old L2.bin or the rename of L2.bin to L2.exe.
That makes a pretty solid way to restrict 3 clients/PC right?
Let's say u have an old PC now and u can't use VMware and u are dumb enough so you can't use some bypass method.
Can't you open Google and type "MAC address spoofer" or "How to change my MAC address" and/or "how to change my Hardware key" bleh bleh bleh
Or they might do an IP restriction 3 clients/IP which is easier faster to implement and also as easy to bypass using a tunneler to switch ur IP.
Although that would probably hurt ppl using Battleping etc.
Conclusion this stops nothing and noone from loading more than 3 boxes :P
I have 3 mentees that i'm lvling for coins for the unbind scrolls so 3 mentees + the mentor + buffer its 5 why ppl say that legit ppl dont need to log more than 3 clients? its normal for legit ppl that want to get something o log more than 3 clients :|

Since that limitation was noticed, some ppl trying express the total legitimacy:
- I can't do solo zaken
- I can't do solo istina
- I can't do solo octavis
- I can't exp 6 mentees at same time to receive coins to buy unbind scrolls
- I can't put main+buff+shop+12 spy
- I can't put 10 shops
- I can't run with my trains
- I can't, I can't, I can't
At least, they already have a solution to bypass the limitation! (disable gg, emule gg, tunneling software, viking helmets, alien tools, etc)
Let's go legit ppl! Buy more PC's! Intel and Amd like this modification \o/

I have a simple solution for people who wish to do clan raids, recruit people near your timezone to play with you. That's what clans are for.
This move should've been done from the get-go 1st day of L2. No sane developer allows this much instances of a game to be run, afterall it was them themselves who declared they want players to communicate more, to have a more social enviornment. Clearly boxing 7~20 characters is anti-social and not part of an MMO project and defys that "communication" logic they speak of.
I can understand the limit of 3/PC as people like myself have the setup:-
Main Toon
Iss Box
Mentee/Mentor for toon being played
but I honestly don't think this change will cause the bots one iota of difficulty. We all know the name of the programs they use, that GG can be bypassed and that the botters use modified clients so a modified client that removes this 3 clients/ PC will soon be on torrent if the client needs modifying at all to get round this new "feature".
I like the feature where if a toon has been blocked a certain number of times they get a temporary ban from using chat.
But if NCSoft *truly* want to take action against the bots they need to be more proactive and have GMs or designated mods going round the known spots for botting and visiting towns regularly and either banning accounts violating the EULA or marking toons down for further investigation.

No one needs to run that many clients.. lol as i said logging in characters to "port" into an instance is different than boxing several toons in an instance. It makes perfect sense to do 1 party istina/Octa so by your we should invite random noobs then kick/pk the other party once we enter so they don't lower exp? There shouldn't be as many restrictions for porting into instances. Spezion for instance can be duo'd easily. Istina/Octa can be done with 1 party. Take away the restrictions for porting into these instances so people won't box toons just to port in. Also boxing toons in a party is fun, keep you on your toes, helps with reflexes, less boring, helps you learn how all those classes can work together, and able to gain exp on those 2 or 3 toons meaning that's 2 or 3 less times you have to do that instance that day. Anyways i only offer to box a toon or two if we have a spot and would have to resort to random otherwise and i make sure everyone is okay with it so i most definitely don't force my boxes into a group (tuna is the exception since 2 people can do it.. tyrr + healer live and then on bosses.just swap.and have your wyn/archer attack and forget them then do debuffs with iss.).

I actually do think you should be charged for running multiple clients since you are using more resources in doing so but people have become reliant on the current system we've had for years. They should make a premium service that allows you to log 4 or 5 clients per pc. Without you can only log 2.
If infact this can somehow eliminate bots, I will actually support this measure however this will only be a small bump in the road for most and for some it won't even be that. I know where me and a couple friends will be going on a daily basis 2 hours a day if the bots are gone :DDD

besides, the client restriction system is not working, I logged in 7 clients from the same PC and nothing happened
I am well aware of that. I like many others will continue to log in boxes/shops regardless. I was mostly being sarcastic but if they ever do eliminate bots, I know exactly where ill farm for adena in my spare time after dailies.
Well a friend was 5 boxing and I was 3 boxing to run Frint and freya raids to farm jewels. We'd fill in with friends or clannies. At least we used to be able have the better chance of getting the drops.
Honestly what you people don't realize is that EVERYONE gets punished for the people who cheat. The legit players who multi box to get ahead in game are basically being punished with the masses and doing nothing wrong. This is why I'm so anti-botting. Because when NC implements another method to combat it,I also am punished.

how can you control each account at the same time?
Swapping clients with your mouse/alt tab/using in game macros and swapping back when the macro is done since many macros on some classes are good for 20 seconds to a minute depending on what skills you need to use.. although im certain you weren't really that stupid and was being sarcastic but whatever.

Didn't see where I said I am messing with files, I just launch the game from NCSoft launcher :)
as I was afraid of it's not hard at all to circumvent the restriction.. not going to explain how though as that would most likely be seen as breaking forum rulez etc.
