Can you get xp from 85 to 99 without awakening or do you stop getting xp after 85 without making the quest ?
What happens if you awaken at any level higher than 85 ? Does your xp/level drops to 85 ?

You can level to 99 without awakening and awakening will maintain your level.
However the more important question is can you, but why would you?
