I am just wondering what has/is gonna happen to our economy; I have played L2 on/off since Open Beta and whilst I preferred the old chronicles economy... the recent changes are quiet drastic.
Let me explain, in previous recent chronicles before GoD people were working in 100 of millions, rather than Billions as they do now; This was partially due to the fact that a lot of people were at the level cap and gear was being farmed regularly in MoS/Frint/Freya/LoA... there were those few who were making a big killing by farming kariks (flooding the market with wind stones); but on a whole the market was fairly stable... Epic prices had remained fairly static with the exception of Anthy/Valakas (due to them being too hard to farm).
When GoD came out and especially with the introduction of more instances/unidentified armors people started working in the billions, mainly cause items were fairly easily obtainable. Not to mention the fact that MoS/LoA/Hellbound/Stakato was full of bot trains and unlike exping/farming in new content zones; these areas items were being npced/crushed and giving the farmers direct $$$.
For example, people running one group in LoA could make on average 1-1.5bil adena a day in hard cash after npcing it. Due to the fact that so much money was available it pushed the rl value of adena down and many people were buying it from said farmers, thus increasing the price of R95/R99 items and epics especially (e.g AQ is 4bil on Shilen). Now people exping in new areas were making as much as 1-1.5bil a day, but their items were affected by supply & demand unlike the pre-GoD areas. Now I admit for a while I thought this was a broken system, but when you look at the prices to port around/second augment a r99 weapon (7-8bil) it seemed fairly logical that adena could be farmed this easily.
Now in Lindivor this has changed drastically, all areas do not produce a fraction of the money that they did before and whilst I think this is good and will improve the value of crafting the big problem is that they have not adjusted the money sinks accordingly. For example, enchanting skills/augmenting/SAing costs billions (these are prices that are unaffected by economic changes)... hell soon even buying a weapon will become impossible for the average player and frankly drive away new players cause they cannot even begin to compete with pre-lindivor players who have gotten this stuff rather easily in comparison.
You wont notice this immediately as there is quiet a lot of adena on the market and in peoples pockets, but the prices will rise for a brief period then crash horribly. Good if you plan on saving your money, bad if you are trying to earn money in any legitimate format. (+ this wont affect adena farmers in the long run, itll just mean they sell less adena for higher prices).
I dont read any of the new content stuff, but has any of this been adjusted in the upcoming changes in korea? Discuss...
