At level 86, you've got a few options to get EXP, I will list them below along with a color code going from easiest (Green) to hardest (Red)
Primarily, you'll want to be doing daily quests such as Solo Kartia*, Kartia*, Teredor*, SoA* and SoA Nursery*.
As far as grinding is concerned, your best bet for solo grinding is Bloody Swamplands/Altar of Evil or Harnak* - (Also good for small groups up to 3 people).
For Party grind head out to Stronghold 2 (SH2*) from Kamael village.
Kartia* - Solo and Group instances found in Aden.
Teredor* - Daily group instance Raid Boss found in Shuttgart. (Find your group in aden first)
SoA* - A group quest that gives the same kind of rewards as Kartia, however takes much less time. Find your group in Aden and head out to the Seed of Annihilation by using the Sayune jumo spot via the Gludio airship port.
SoA Nursery* - An 30 minute solo instance in Seed of Annihilation that you can do every 6 hours, now this instance doesn't give any major reward however if you can not find a party or are having trouble making one, then this is also a good alternative, to start simply stand in the portals in SoA and you will be teleported within a few seconds.
Harnak* - A great solo and duo, even trio spot is Harnak, the floor difficulty goes from floor one up to floor three, you can get there from using the Sayune jump from Talking Island next to the gate keeper.
SH2* - Stronghold 2 is an AoE Area outside Kamael Village for classes ranging from 87 to 95ish, however if you're 86 you can usually get away with it as you don't require half kills and the such.
Also, when looking for a party, it is often much faster to take the initiative and make your own rather than sitting in town for two hours to make one. I suggest making AoE groups often, you'll get to know some people and you will be able to call them for XP parties in the future allowing you to make parties faster with friends and not have to constantly replace people.
Tip nr1. buy 200 % rune buy dragon rune buy all runes which stacks and nevits and get mentee and always buff extra 3% in towns.
tip nr2. Do kartia 85 group dont bother with sollo. Immo with runes its just waste of time. Do SOA nursery and some reptile exp.

Vitality maintaiing potion stops it from decreasing for 1 hour. Runes are Time limited depends on price and amount of % exp it gives. There is 7 days 200% or 7 days 100% or destiny pack 100% for month etc. :P

well .. considering minimum wages 2000$/month is u spend lets say 200$ from that sum every month you will feel yourself very comfortable in here :) 10% of wages for your hobby isn't much i would say.
For comparison if your hobby would be something like kayaking or golf or whatever u chose it will go more that that like 3x :) or 4x or even more :D. So trust me L2 is cheap enough for adult. For kids uh well :) unless u have nice and rich parents and you ask nicely your daddy for couple hundreds a month. Or i have other option Just make your daddy addicted to l2 :D lol.

What is it with players willing to hit high (cap) ASAP instead of enjoying the game to the fullest. L2 has so much more to offer then just grind to 96 and PvP...

Of course, I want to hit that ASAP to team up with them in the 'bigger parties', but the need to grind is somewhat starting to be annoyed to get there. Unbelievable... to each their own, what everybody does with their money is their business and making suggestions to buy ncoins and xp packs isn't a bad one, if you cannot afford, don't buy it - no need to argue about something so trivial.
86+ until 90 is mainly touring. Kartia 85 group, Seed of Annihilation daily Reptilikon and Teredor. After those you can do the Nursery thing in Seed of Annihilation - you see 2 red glowing orbs of light at either side of the NPC you got the Reptilikon quest from, step inside the light and you will teleport.
Then there is Bloody Swampland daily, talk to the supplier at the entrance for the quest - V... something name.
And of course complete Kartia85 solo.
Party at Reptilikon/Fairies for nice exp - solo exping at this stage is a tedious thing, the exp bar doesn't want to move.

Seriously? You consider having to pay 1233% (1333% expressed in L2 percentages) more than the previous $15/month to be an acceptable and cheap expenditure when someone is only earning $2000/month? At least if you were kayaking the high expenditure would be to purchase a kayak and would not be something you'd need to spend every time you went kayaking and if you went golfing you'd also be doing some networking which could result in drumming up some more customers for your business or getting an offer for a higher paying job or new employee along with getting some exercise.
$200 spent on L2 is basically just deciding to sit on your *** in front of your pc and wasting 20+ hours per week.
Did you consider that maybe this is an unreasonable an expenditure because a person should also be saving for retirement, in case they lose their income due to a major accident or sickness, to purchase their own house, save to buy another car for when their current car breaks down, maybe helping the poor, or some other goal that would be a better use of $200/month than handing it over to NCSoft?
Advising someone to spend 10% of their take-home pay on a video game is immoral. While everyone is fully free to choose how they spend their money so long as at worst this is only for personally destructive ends, trying to convince someone else to spend their money for personally destructive ends is quite different.
People have different priorities - 2k a month and 10% spent on gaming might sound tempting, but in the end this is only a computer game and to most people just playing the game for fun has nothing to do with what is going the other side of the wall - outside of the house. As I said, priorities vary, if someone so chooses, then by god, let them spend money on a computer game and all perks they gain by it so long as it feels right to them.
For most people, including me, it sounds such a ridiculous idea to spend money on a computer game, but hey, what's the problem if you feel like it.
Finally, trying to talk sense, as it were, into someone for their, apparently, wrong ideals, is just a waste of time. Do not think that everybody else is weak-minded and run for their VISAs and mastercards after someone suggested them to buy ncoins and xp/vitality boosters and whatnot.

I couldnt agree more with @DemiGoth, sry @Jacky. But if this game had someone taking care about its more often, and we saw clean spots, no bots, less rmts annoying us, less crahses and bugs, more stability, I happily would spend some extra cash in their store or galleria, but nah... the situation just goes bad to worst as we can see.
And about the OP, you can do what @Jacky said and buy some runes or xp boosts to speed up your level, but I wonder if it will work since you dont even know where to go. Imo, it would be a waste of time and $$. Runes just work along with 2 things: know-how of where/when to level up/best xp spots and a consistent CP, with all members knowing their roles to maximize their potential as a party. If you have no one of theses, well...
Anyway, xp below the level 90 is kinda easy, no need to worry about. Average 1h30min and you r done with all (kartia, nursery, teredor, swamp quest) and you can go spend some time in any trivial action. I, particularly, in about 3h of play of smtg, spend half of that time joking/chatting with friends, doing some market or a quest, trying a craft, giving some hints to a new player, ressing someone in far xp ground, fishing.. and after all I'm up with all my daily xp. Just figure out that you r playing a game, what is made to entertain you - I have my own job to deal with, no need another in front of my pc in my free times.
