Unfortunately there are no bug fixes this week ? so what is this maintenance for ? just to restart servers ? cmo'n we need bug fixes not offline server so you can drink your coffee ...
I would like to know on what base are fixes prioritized. Are the easier to implement done first and harder to do later? Or this is done on how severe it is (how many people it affects/how deeply affects some players).
= were totally **** on this whole ****** nc , we want our salary , let us fap and do nothing
The developments goes in Korea, so when an issue or bug appear in the client they do send it back to Korea where a team repair the client.
NCwest, NCJapan, NCTaiwan and NCThailand should hire up together a team what repair these patches since in 95% what is bugged here it is a bug in another NC regions too.
Do not understand what this "maintenance" stands for - if you take a car to a workshop to be fixed - that is maintenance. Turning the ignition off and back on has nothing to do with maintenance. If there are no bugfixes incoming, what is the point of taking the servers down for 4 hours? (translation: 6hours and etra 3-4hours).
Do you think they only turn off, turn on the servers?
Most likely hardware checks are being done, if needed hardware replaced, very performance heavy database checking processes will run to ensure all systems work correct and no systems are failing. + much more

This.
The process of maintaining or preserving someone or something, or the state of being maintained: "the maintenance of democratic government".
The process of keeping something in good condition: "car maintenance"; "essential maintenance work".
Obviously by definition, our maintenance is a fail, or we'd be in good condition.

I recently pulled down a cluster of servers for a client and did a hardware replacement.
I just checked and the two sql databases for that cluster held 215 million and 163 million records each.
I took the cluster offline, backed up both databases, transferred all of the data from both machines to a new machine (replacing both previous database servers), and reconfigured that machine to take the place of the old ones.
The cluster came back online and the client was using them 1 hour and 16 minutes after I took it down.
NC does have several machines to take down, but most of the time is just waiting for processes to complete, so I would assume they are performing maintenance on them all concurrently.
Even if a piece of hardware has to be replaced (which is a rarity, not something to do every week.) my professional opinion is that all of the servers could be backed up, restarted, and operational within 2 hours, and that whatever halfwit they have working for them at the datacenter then proceeds to play with himself for an additional two hours to pad his work time.
Preventive maintenance (PM) has the following meanings:
The care and servicing by personnel for the purpose of maintaining equipment and facilities in satisfactory operating condition by providing for systematic inspection, detection, and correction of incipient failures either before they occur or before they develop into major defects.
Maintenance, including tests, measurements, adjustments, and parts replacement, performed specifically to prevent faults from occurring.
The primary goal of maintenance is to avoid or mitigate the consequences of failure of equipment. This may be by preventing the failure before it actually occurs which Planned Maintenance and Condition Based Maintenance help to achieve. It is designed to preserve and restore equipment reliability by replacing worn components before they actually fail. Preventive maintenance activities include partial or complete overhauls at specified periods, oil changes, lubrication and so on. In addition, workers can record equipment deterioration so they know to replace or repair worn parts before they cause system failure. The ideal preventive maintenance program would prevent all equipment failure before it occurs.
Players with multiple Aion or Lineage II accounts will only be eligible for one 400 NCoin bonus, regardless of how many accounts NC accounts they create. The NCoin bonus will be applied to the first NC account created.
That sux
All it is, is a nice trick to make is spend all the coins we got, so we can buy more....
Oh they are so tricky. lets see what other business that uses this tactics....online gambling promoes..... now what does NCSoft have in common with the gambling industry....beside the gambling ofc :P
Its farking addictive, and anoyingly the pusher calls the shots, and never really listen to anyone else.
And we might aswell admit it, we are all addicted, else we would play a game that make sens and have a plan for customer relations. *not caring about your customers aint a plan, when they are addicts*

OMG... DO NOT USE THE FREE 400 NCOIN. This way you can keep your balance of NCoin. Better yet, you could just remove L2 and go do something productive... like get people to send you their money because you provide them with a virtual playground in which they can pretend to be smart and successful with little to no exertion, mental or physical.

Bugs are prioritized by their severity (negative impact on the game and community). Unfortunately, I noticed that the more severe the issue is the longer it takes to fix. It not always the case; but most of the time.
Since there's more than one developer, more than one bug is worked on at a time. That's why you'll see some less important bugs get fixed at the same time or at times before more severe bugs.
Maybe you gonna do a npc disappearance bug fix in this maintance?
Yeah this isn't fixed yet but it is being worked on.

In my place of work, I set my priorities as follows:-
1. Fixes that will take only a few minutes to resolve.
2. Fixes that are critical - irrespective of time to resolve
3. Fixes that case problems for the user
4. Fixes that are cosmetic (wrong colour/something not lined up correctly)
5. Anything else.
Guys amazing maintenance :D now gludio and dion npc's are useless, coz the chat windows isn't appear... I double clicked on npc, and happen nothing... Most of ppl cant do anything. Pls if u want fix something, do it correctly. ;)
