Okay somethings in L2 never change. Back in the day hunting Varka/Kerta on a 76+ toon in A grade armor for S grade recs/parts was normal. When GoD came out they put 85 gear in 85 areas, Twilight Gear in 90+ areas, Sereph in 94+ areas and Eternal in 97+ areas. Why then when Livindor came out did this change? I'm 98 right now, working on my eternal set and have been for a while, I currently have everything but the gaiters, which now other than Oly are near impossible to get.
I understand shifting the focus from full drops to crafting like it used to be, even though I hate crafting the transition shouldn't be too hard, but all the mats you need to Craft 95+ only drop in a 99 lvl area, where most tanks get 1-2 shotted. All the 97+ quest rewards got turned into Sereph armor/weapons. If your 97+ and not in Sereph I'm sorry you suck with money/L2. Sereph isn't hard to get, Twilight isn't that hard to get. Eternal is almost impossible to get, don't raid Antharas (real one)/ Valakas/Epic Istina/Epic Oct/Epic Taitu, were sorry your not getting anything Eternal.
Combine the fact that its not only stupid hard to get that stuff as it is but then add on the fact that the drop rate on Epic boss' is only about 10% at best, and spoil rate at stupid hard Gainaks for mats that you need to craft is 7% at best, then crafting main mats only drop from Raids in Gainaks and there my friends you have an issue. I was going to try and craft but only have 2 issues. I have 1 Rec/0 Parts/All mats. First no one has this recipe registered or willing to share at least, second parts are impossible to get now that CC turned into Spector Weapons crap, so the only way to get it is HF quest at about a 2% chance to get 2-3 parts or buy them since the raids at Gainaks are super competitive due to pve/pvp stones dropping.

I just don't get it: why would anyone want to "work" on it (i.e. farming the mats, trying to craft and so on) when one can get it for free (almost) from the Olympiad manager?

In my opinion, what the OP says is what it is, truth.Instances/bosses that used to drop Uni Eternal stuff, now drop Seraph (lol) and instances/bosses that used to drop Seraph now drop Twilight (another lol).I haven't seen even a single eternal recipe drop (ok maybe one for lolsigil), what the hell is that....
And on top of all the uni items have became more expensive than the standard one, cos you can unbind bound items to blessed ones with Elcyum?!?... Hell yesterday sold uni eternal stockings for **** 2 billion on Shilen, dafuq >> barely a month ago those were selling for under 150 mil.
And by the way, WHAT ABOUT the ppl that hit 95 right now?!?We got our items the "easy way" before and we`ll surely be happy cos we can even unbind them now for uber cheap prices (or even make them blessed lal).There should be SOLO/SMALL GROUP quests/tasks/objectives that can get you every possible item in this game.There is no other MMO out there that you can have bosses for yourself cos you farmed more than the others, cos you botted to 99/99 or cos you got superior gear.Maybe you can get these things faster, but you can't have them on lockdown or impossible to get.
This way we even get paradoxes on Shilen, ppl walking around with blessed valakas necks (or even normal ones), when Valakas never been killed afaik.Same goes for Trasken rings, noone killed it on Shilen yet, but hell yea ppl got rings.The list goes on and makes NC look more and more incompetent.
Oh and by the way, L2 was/is/will be primary made for PvE, it's a Korean MMO == kill mobs all day/night.The PvP element is secondary (yes I know you ALL want to PvP, so do I) but that's the real problem, we're trying to compete in PvP on a PvE game, so smart brah :>

As far as i know on all the sites I have looked at CC no longer drops full items, only recs now. I might be wrong, but I don't think so.
As far as the Olympiad farming from eternal thing goes, yeah that works fine and dandy for Oly tokens, but fame isn't as easy to come by as people claim that it is. I do CoC with quests, Oly quests with 5 consecutive wins most of the time, sieges, forts. Out of all that you are lucky if you can farm 100k fame a week, a little more little less normally. If you are under 95 you are going to get 10k from oly if you have enough oly points to finish 10 matches, prolly not going to get 10k from 5 consecutive, CoC is fine, you prolly won't win a bunch but still get fame, sieges and forts(lol). So farming oly for a 98+ toon is conceivable anything under that and its mostly slaughter fest at least on Chronos.
I'm not complaining about getting them through Olympiad at all other than the hours that it happens, living in EU I can do 2 out of 3 days, I wake up at 5:30 in the morning Monday so Sunday night olly is out of the question.
Really other than Oly there is no conceivable way to get r99. Has anyone ever added up how much fame you can even get in a week? Like max possible? Should be like 200k but you have to live at your computer.
Crystal caverns drops eternal armours and specter weapons for sure although drops do seem very rare. I have only had recipes from the hall of jewels though but we haven't had much luck with the golem appearing at the end of the CC run.

I just looked on l2on.net, from what i have seen this website is about 99% accurate to our servers as far as rates and drops. Yes it does drop there, if you want to call .3% a drop rate. TY NCSoft.
Yes I have. We had eternal from michaela, eternal from veridan and just a couple days ago I got a specter retri from kechi.

farm pagans for eternal pieces and amaranthine pieces.
Crafting is so much easier now. Get your weapon pieces (lvl3 and lvl4) from SoS and armor frags (lvl 3 and lvl4) from Orbis.
So far I've crafted one eternal gauntlet, one eternal gaiter, one seraph gaiter, 6 twilight breastplates, as many twilight boots/gauntlets, apoc retributer.......
All I'm trying to say is that crafting is super easy now and trying to get full items from drops is really dumb.
I sencierly wold like to see that server where Eternal drops ANYWHERE and the Pagan is FREE for farm (or put in other words, has at least 1 bot-free room). Did Epic Octavis, Extreme Istina, Tauti and Valakas 4 times each now and still haven't even SEEN an Ethernal drop. Farming Emerald Sware for 6h str8 only brought 2-3 silly fragments.
Wow...the drop rate for full items really suck now...lets take Fortuna for example...b4 Lindy i was getting twilight and seraph FULL drops, heck i even geared 2 toons in Seraph Heavy from Fortuna...Now after Lindy...elcyum powders, 2 times i seen Twilight Light Helm Drop and get this...i friggin LMAO at this one...when we killed Mushu the Coward...i got a Requiem Thrower...yes thats right REQUIEM...i didnt know if i should laugh or cry and since i had 2 Blessed requiem Throwers alrdy...i gave that bow away to someone else in party and lets not forget Octavis and Istina Raids....went from full drops to 1 Unbind scoll and 1 Blessed enchant scoll and i havent seen an epic drop from either since Lindy. Everyday this game gets worse and worse
fortuna is epic now.. Ron drop tw bp, other raids low r gr weapons and elcyum powder... kimerian 1 month no drops, even not single ear..
istina, with clan we get 4 istina shirts so it's pretty good.
octavis not owrth to waste time there.. ~1h and you get unbind armor and b:ear.. gl with that drops.
