This "boycott" idea would assume that NCsoft actually DOES know how to stop the bots already, and/or just refuses to do so currently? I'm just not 100% sure they're able to, due to either lack of employees/resources to target this matter, or some possible privacy issues with legit customers/players. If indeed it's true that they protect/ignore the botters based on their accounts activity in the NC store, then that's just messed up and scary, and illegal by their own definition. I have no prob joining your boycott effort regardless, as I have plenty of fun for free, and have no desire to get my hands on any vanity crap.

I don't aim to raise any debate on whether this would have any effect or not. Or on either if NCSOFT can stop bots or not.
I'll I'm trying to do is have enough people agree to the fact that they should stop spending their money until NCSOFT takes care of the bots.
So far, only people that wouldn't stop spending money have replied trying to convince me that this would have no result.

As I can see the issue, NCSOFT only care about the money, so the only way to punish them is by not giving them money.
now for offtopic: any of us given GM for a day would clean 90% of the bot parties on the server. I'd personally apply an IP ban on everyone that I find botting. I don't need any proof. If I think you're botting, I'd ban you. In a few weeks (which I'd do for free), I'd probably convince enough botters that it's not really worth their time. I don't really understand why NCSOFT tries so hard to get "evidence" or whatever. This is a free game, with paid items. You pay for items, you get the items... there's nowhere in the TOS specified that you'll be allowed to use all those items to depletion even if you're botting. As for those that don't play.... well, playing is a privilege, which can be revoked from NCSOFT at any given time without any explanation. See... that's easy.
So back to topic, if you feel like you would like to join me in not giving any money to NCSOFT until they sort the bot problem, post here, I'll bump this every day.

Funny enough, it's the exact reason that no professional company would think of hiring such self-righteous people. Not only it would cut their income down to the bone, but also pose a risk to the servers stability and economy by having those temporary GMs do random crap with their rights.

Wasn't talking about you specifically. But you're not the first, nor the last, to say that you would like to receive temporary GM rights to wipe the servers clean. Most of those self-righteous people are also people who set their own trains in LoA, Hellbound and such places, or use PvP programs.

As long as it's a regularly registered business, it's professional.
Play in oficial server two years ago, in pay to play mode allow all players to get the same grind, independent of bots, all players need exp the same time at the same spot to get the same level.
I start play in oficial servers because the "pay to play" mode grant to players the same conditions of play, diferent than private servers where pay to win determine what player will win.
Now we are a private server + bots out of control.
Ex. in last week I report a member of RR botting, Pok3y, the player got their level (99) and get out bot mode. I report "aquafeoh" botting they 99/99, NC like him because he spend money. Now in EG (chronos), at least 8 partys of people trying beat 99 or 99/99. Report this bots is a fool action. They spend money in the game.
I report a bot party of ND 20 days ago, day every day in STR2, Neugbauer/Hellmind party (aka gauchinha/gaucho-de-poa)[hellmind update your bot to logout if dead, you character stay afk and dead with a dwarf in last weekend], now this party are in EG, maybe in 5/10 days will beat 99 or 99/99 and will back to play this game like Pock3y of RR. Some people will say "colorado QQ more while I spend my money in this game".
While the main ressources of this game come from bot "donations", bot will exist. Juji, Sace, Vali, everyone know who is bot and who is no bot. They don't ban bots because they need bots. They need money of bots.

New players need fight with bots to get cannon balls because this bot groups "clean" all mobs of prision. They try the limitation of 3 boxes, bypassed in one day; the command /block #botname to reduce RMT shouts; drop less adena from mobs; all actions result in fail. Bot population in all servers increases day after day.

No, I could have played on .eu server, I even tried to do so once, started downloading their client, said 4 days remaining :), then the maintenance on the real servers ended....
Anyway, I do agree that reporting bots is useless, i've done it many many times, and those bots (I mean the ones in SOA picking crystals parts), are still there, the ones that I've been reporting for the past year.
I'm well aware (as is everyone) that NCSOFT could contain the bot situation if they really wanted. My offer (as well as other people's) to act as a GM, was not born from my desire to ban bots, but from the desire to show others how really easy it would actually be).

Say the bots would all be banned tomorrow, and then the economy would crash and L2 store would have no bots that would buy stuff form there, I still think there will be plenty

PIN exist in game since Interlude, they put it live only to improve security of game against keyloggers. One week after PIN introduction, bots bypass the PIN verification (send PIN validation packets when this packets are required).

I have no comments to answer this but you're 100% right.
I don't give them any money, anymore. Still have NCoin from when it was a pay to play. Haven't spent any since it became free, nor will I. Some areas are so infested with bots it is impossible for a real player to play.
