I am playing around with a pre-awakened (Female) Kamael Soul Breaker and I'm unsure if the general preference would be to convert a melee sword or a mage sword into their rapier. By the descriptions of the powers, they use both patk and matk.
So for those who have played these more extensively, I'm curious what was your preference? Are they viable nukers or do you always end up doing melee?

Before GoD, I leveled a soulbreaker using 2 weapons: a rapier to melee and a mage sword to nuke. After the 3rd class change I made my soulhound a pure nuker; with a proper set-up (overenchanted skills + tattoos + two handed mage staff) she was able to AoE in the Dino island better than my main (stormscreamer), and reached the level cap quite fast.
However, as base stats got changed with GoD, nowadays playing a SLH as a nuker seems less efficient. So, when I leveled another SLH in GoD, I went melee.
In any case, since getting from 1 to 85 is so easy now, it doesn't really matter what weapon you choose.
I just miss the times (before GoD) when soulhounds were a truly unique class, capable of owning anyone 1 on 1.

If you add a steal buff with 1 second cast, 15 seconds re-use, that is capable to steal 7 buffs to any class, any class that would get would be capable to own 1vs1.

Convert a mage sword into a rapier with more m attack? Yeah I wish that NC was a good enough developer to think of that.
Being able to convert a mage sword into a rapier would have made sense and not have cost an arm and a leg considering how cheap magic swords were.
No NC decided that Kamael would only be able to convert regular swords into rapiers even though there was already such a huge demand for swords at the time that they could twice as much as any other weapon. It was like a huge FU by NCSoft to everyone who wanted to play a Soulbreaker. NC should have made daggers or fists convertible into rapiers in order to create some demand for weapons which had little to zero demand at the time that the Kamaels were introduced. Failing that NC should have created a weapon exchange shop that would allow you to convert fists into any other weapon type or at least into a sword.
But honestly rapiers are ****** weapons. By the time you hit level 76 you should be playing your character as mostly a pure nuker so the weapon you want to use is a two handed magic blunt otherwise known as a staff. A magic sword is an inferior choice because the mattack is lower and the weapon type makes no difference on casting speed if it isn't a rapier.

You mean like Spellsingers before Cancel was nerfed to ****?
So far it looks like the nukes are very weak compared to the rapier physical attack powers. Obviously they would get better with a mage weapon, but it's a massive difference (even using blessed shot).
Is there a crossover point at which the nukes start becoming a better choice than rapier physicals? I was kinda hoping to angle the toon toward that for novelty, but as I said the differences are so stark it hardly seems worth it.
Spellsingers could not steal buff, only cancel. Steal divinity is leagues of OP above it...
If you assume that everyone already has max buffs (which is usually the case), then cancel and steal divinity operate exactly the same minus class specific short term buffs.

No, because you can steal self-buffs from your oponent which are not available through any other means. Stealing flame icon/spirit of shilen/pranah/zealot/ antimagic armor/ dash, w/e else, is a huge boost cause there's initial requirements to have such buffs.
