Used to play in the old days (this account was registered 2004) Gustin server. Anyway, I've played off and on since the end of C4 but I've only really reengaged with some friends just this week and we're all about 75ish. We've done some research but with information being as spotty as it is I'm mostly wondering about acquiring gear after awakening. I see there used to be an exploit for leveling toons for diplomas but that was fixed. We can survive on the 90 day packs we get but after 85... We might as well be clueless. Considering our wallets are shallow, we could use some advice.
Get a mentor in game. When you awaken, you'll get an item to exchange for diplomas as a reward for graduating. You can then exchange those in for your level 85 gear.

You get 20, enough for armor, jewelry, weapon and a few for some shots.
Untill you finish 3rd class transfer quests and the awakening ones + the Harnak quests, you'd have enough adena to buy discent weapon. But realy; with mentor you'll get event items for free (diplomas)
First, you probably noticed the economy went to hell since you last played Lineage 2.
Equipment that used to be considered expensive at a few hundred million adena back when you played, now probably goes for billions.
Gone are the days of Erica server, or even merged Sahya... now we got Chrono server... and the sparsely populated other servers we keep around out of pity.
Added a while back was a "report bots" button. Much like the "close door" button in most elevators, it does not do anything... it is just for show.
Vitality was introduced to the game a few years back. In its current form, vitality is not shared across the account, but is per individual character. Having vitality gives you +100% XP. (Currently, for the next week and a half, vitality gives you +200% XP)
Find a mentor, earn +100% XP and some level 1 ISS buffs whenever your mentor is online.
(you can also get hour-long level 1 ISS buffs from the Adventurers Guide in the towns.)
When you hit level 85 and awaken (and assuming you had a mentor), you will receive 40 diplomas. These diplomas can be exchanged for low R grade gear, such as immortal armor, requiem weapons, and shots for said weapons.) These items you receive cannot be sold or traded. They are like bound gear, but cannot be sold to NPC shops, nor can they be crystalized.
Given their lack of recoverable value, I would suggest you use all 40 diplomas to buy shots, and try to buy/craft/find real R grade equipment, if at all possible.

Lineage 2 has become Pay 2 Win, having introduced a new incentive subscription system that does not even take NC Coin, but rather requires $$$ via credit card. And there are various XP and drop rate boosting items that the game sells to you via the website and in-game store.
You missed out on the days when wearing a particular eyepatch made any character in range of you to have a game-client crash.
Gone are the days of starting race villages. Try taking a stroll outside of Dark Elven Village... you will find some nice surprises (level 85+ mobs).

Bad idea imho; it's easy to get the key mats to make R armour, but it's next to impossible to get the BASE mats (Durable leather braid for example).
Spoil rate for that item is 1/32000 on a level 93 mob...
Use the diplomas to buy everything you need, armour, weapon, jewlery and some SS - and go do some levelling!
At 85 do the swamp quest. Once the Vit extravaganza is over you should be able to do it in 1/2 hour....it gives a bit of exp plus 500k + in adena.
Then port from swamp to DE village and the to Dwarf Village and then to Schuttgart. Do the mith mine quest .there are 2. One you get in town from Daichir ((head priest of the Earth ) close to Monument of Heros pays 700k+. The other quest is in the mines from a Rat Guy by the lake...can't remember name pays 350k+. Google it. They both involve just running through the mines so no shots required. With these 3 quests you make 1.5kk per day... plenty to buy shots.
