Vague title because I know that if the majority of people who don't actually read the articles or threads on these forums will just blurt out whatever comes to their mind based off the first paragraph or sentences.
I'm curious to know, as through conditioning, how many people out there are indifferent or not interested in the bots? If it really makes that much of an impact on a game that has -always- had an issue with farming gold sellers, bots and well, just a large automated portion of the active community.
It does good and bad things to our economy. The bad side showing mainly when they start flooding the market to manipulate prices on items based off of their methods of generating profit from the actual players.
I'm annoyed at how many people complain about bots and then turn around and asking for people to power level them. Or how about the people who -only- log in for dailies (the majority from my perspective) and complain about the lack of community. It's tiresome to see people be vocal about a problem that they themselves contribute to.
My thoughts and ideas:
Keeping this thread relatively short, I'm going to cut to my ideas.
Other online (F2P) games have created a supported feature that allows a player to set up something equivalent to a bot program via in-game interface. The games I'm referring to are quite old and are poor quality aesthetically, but that feature allows just about anyone to be competitive. It'd allow more players to actively obtain and promote the end-game and PvP aspects of Lineage 2 (which we all love, or should).
Why this wouldn't work in my opinion, or better yet, things that would need altering to make it work:
- MP Regen for Non-melee classes (Feoh, Aeore)
- Lack of space for the theorized population.
- Solo Experience is much less in most cases.
Why it'd be amazing:
- Less idle characters in the cities.
- More people buying supplies, as I mentioned.
- More items, materials and etc., in circulation would provide less expensive upgrades for new players.
Now take that idea, combine it with the old methods of harassing and controlling areas that used to be a daily occurrence with clans and individuals. Mainly when players would drop items on PvE death. Be it, versus each other or bots (including gold farmers). Training, Bleeding or just flat out PK'ing these people. It was part of the awe factor of this game, that I'd be able to walk outside of my area and maybe score some free loot as I killed or allow a monster to kill a bot or someone I didn't like. It was a big deal when I managed to yank a critical item from an opposing clan, pure adrenaline rush in that situation if executed well.
Clans with active people would have to defend their automated buddies, otherwise they end up allowing their clan mates to drop their items or miss out on the experience train. People would be forced to stock up on consumables, bonuses and etc. which would promote the economy. More adena in the lesser hands for players who don't get more than 2-4 hours to play this daunting game. Areas of the map would sadly, be filled unless more options are created, however that is what would make this feature competitive.
Conclusion:
My thoughts are in a very loose state when it comes to these ideas and opinions, but I like the idea of removing the advantage of those who slip through the cracks and make it to the endgame with a bot program. Also, the wildness inspired by players no longer dropping items (tact has vanished). The economy has been gripped by those who play the longest, which happens to be automated (the majority of the time), which creates a hardship for those who don't have rich friends or the time to generate profit at the pace they're progressing.
P.S. ~ I'm having a small amount of anxiety as I see a lot of people complaining that the servers are once again dwindling. I'd like to see this game continue to exist. Nostalgia and all the fun, I've enjoyed since prelude.
Here there is no need for that. You can powerlevel yourself with the help of buffs, Vita bonus, mentor and "30 days items" pretty easily then start getting a bit more seriously into the game.L2 is far more complex than those mediocre "RPG wannabees" and needs time and reading, so that the player learns many many things.Bot-leveling won't achieve that.
This game despite its age still has potential and what you propose isn't helpful for new players in any way you see it (game learning, building personal economy, enjoying the game experience, etc).
Imagine a new player with the help of a bot, afk 24/7 and reaches say 85 in one month. What has he gained? Did he learn how the game works, its economy system, did he travel around, did RB, etc
Simple answer no.
On the other hand the leveling system as is now is quite generous.I had played in one of those games you mention and took me almost 3 years to max my char. Here how long is that? 4 maybe 5 months?
And in the meantime you are learning about all those aspects of the game so that you become a better player.Like using your skills, hunting and building up your economy, socialize and making friends, etc.
shadow i think you are in the wrong forums...even if a player lvl up by botting and he doesn't know well his char you forgot the biggest problem in this game...pvp scripts? or you need to use your hand to learn about them too.....?
Its nice to still see people like gorathgar that actually care about the game.
I quitted about 1 month now becouse the bot problems.
I will bring you some examples why this game fails in some things
1.is made in Korea
2.that means its created by koreans for koreans
3.but we are not asians,we dont have their playstyle neither we live our lives the same way, also we dont have the same culture.
4.they bring that game just translated to be played by West players.
5.that means we face some difficulties that asians dont concidering like very heavy grinding exp etc.
6.so we came up with the bot system to deal with those problems....but that bot system became stronger, smarter and more effiecient over the years throwing on the trash all the fun and everything that this game offers.
If you check archeage(coming soon) they arent only translating but westernazation it.That means western players will have better experience with the game.Too bad it didnt happened on this game too

You're not quick at picking up what I'm trying to say. The slope of the game is in line with the current state. The concepts, may sound good. Yes, we'd want people to take their time, invest themselves in character development and be a valuable member of the community.
Why that doesn't happen currently (except for a small few):
Pre-85
- Dailies, main priority in powering yourself with adena, experience and solo leveling. All the while competing with bots for the areas and only PvP'ing awakened mentors or dual boxers. I know this, I've done this four times since GOD.
- Groups don't happen, so how would a person learn their role in a dynamic group situation? Groups aren't as efficient these days because of the ease of the mentor setup and the experience boosts.
- The economy is in shambles, so an individual wouldn't be able to learn to trade or what stats are valuable. They are given an already generated temporary full set. Not learning how to use Soul Crystals or SAs, Enchanting, Elements, Augments or how to really make money beyond dailies.
- There is no learning curve until 85. Your skills, your class and your gear changes (pending on classes) once you obtain your awakening. Everything before 85 is just a chance for a player to either get hooked or get bored.
Post 85:
- Dailies, once again. You have to do them or the vitality system without funding via L2 Store will keep you trapped in purgatory for however long you chose to attempt to solo grind it out.
- Groups are limited to SOA and Kartia, as I mentioned, Harnak's is being dominated by bots. This would be the first but very brief and uneventful first group role an individual new to the game could experience. Most of which is met by a language barrier and a very basic experience.
- The economy has finally become relevant to said individual, but with the market having had so much inflation and control by the 3rd party software and gold sellers, there is no chance that a single person is going to have the ability to buy, sell and trade anything more than parts, crystals or SS.
- The average person who knows nothing about how to enhance their gear will finally realize something is missing. They'll try to hurry and figure it out, if they notice. Enchantment scrolls (Chronos) are currently 30 Million per, Soul Crystals are 20 Million (R-Grade), Elemental Crystals cheap enough, but not the biggest upgrade for a person who has nothing, Augmenting would probably confuse them at first and tattooing is far too expensive.
Conclusion:
Having placed all of that from an unbiased perspective an individual, new or old, would gain more from having a crutch that would be supported by NCSoft if this were to happen. Closing the gap in smaller increments with restrictions and any sort of bridging that could make players feel comfortable with this idea.
It could become available at a certain level, after a tutorial that walks players through increasing or enhancing their character. It could be restricted to a duration per 24 hours that would allow a player to expend said bonus in a specific area.
It could also just be as it might sound, a player sets their character up and is able to chose a location. The character would farm, use consumables bought and placed by a person who owns said character and continue until they stop the character themselves. Completely vulnerable and if not set up properly, they would have to learn how to make said function effective.
A player would not miss out on much if this was available. It'd help narrow the gap between new players and old, since they'd be progressing at the same rate. Still behind, but the old aren't gaining -as- much distance on them. It'd also reduce the stress of having been a newborn baby in an olympic swimming pool as this new awakening seems to feel for some.

This is really interesting.
What argument is this? Can enlighten me???:eek:

What about game made in korea?
What about Asian play style? and the way Asian live?
They are human, they eat, they sleep, they whine.
U dun do the above? lolz
Just bcos Asian love grinding so that set apart from rest of the world?
Is it true that people from UK , US or other part of the world hate grinding?
I hate the fact they nerfed below 90 exp so hard. Harnak 3, with party, used to give ~30%/1h at 86/87/88. Now solo for 3 hours with vita and Nevit buff got only 20%. Why they made all the good places for party exp into solo dungeons w/o exp. Yes, the game needed few more spots for solo farm before GoG; not only the bloody swamp, but spots that give exp. Even with 200% xp rune ppl don't get the same amount as they did before Lindviour. when i was lvl-ing my mentee from 80 to 85, raised the Tyr 2 lvls on the bloody swamp. Now mobs give less then 1kk exp w/o vit. I get it, that the idea is for the ppl to buy exp runes, vit potions etc ... but c'mon. 85-90 was doiable in a week even w/o kartia. Now can't get to 87 in a week if you don't have vit/exp runes.
