With all this talk about mass army of bot, Here a flash back into the past 2009 and a name that strike fear into them. A delicated GM and his tough team at work. They will ban you, your grandmother, your girlfriend pet account if it associated with the main account in any way even by IP address or log from different location.. The good old day of Paid to Play. Too bad his prediction word in the 2nd paragragh did come true. HGM SPam no longer with Lineage 2.
I posted the one liner to bring some levity to this thread. Some appreciated it, and I assume you did not.
So here is the skinny…
We ban bots every day. We ban hundreds of bot everyday. Thousands a week. Hundreds of thousands a year. While they may or may not be the bots you have in any one particular screenshot, we are doing our best. Now, my pay is not dependant on bots staying in the game. Some bean counter somewhere might like paying customers, but he does not have his hand on the ban button. I do. I like a fair playing environment. (Believe me I am not saying this one is fair.) So while my fellow Sr. GMs are banning bots, I am here answering their support ticket as they cry about being innocent, and how they were just “using a Nostromo.” “Wha-Wha-Wha.” Eat it Cylon. Your tears taste good.
So we are all in a pickle here. I have to ban all of the bots but not get anyone by mistake, which means I have to put away the napalm and use my rifle. Fair enough. I have not given up in 5 years, and I don’t plan on giving up. I’m going to keep doing this, and grind the bones of bots into cakes until none of us are here any longer.
So while I wait for some brainiac programmer to make the cure for the L2 bot cancer I am going to continue cutting it out with my hatchet. You can help, or get out the way. But please don’t break this thread again with some messed up picture that has been posted 5 times. All of the GMs read these forums while they are banning bots. They know what you are going through and are not ignoring you. They are just working.

PS it has been a year since my last rant. Sorry for the splash damage.
A lot has changed within NC NA since then also. Layoffs especially so this leaves less employees dedicated to L2. I know many have no faith in the admins,but I honestly don't entirely blame them. Their orders come from Korea. No I don't think that's an excuse not to enforce the rules,but I think it's lack of staff for this game.
You dont need lots of ppl to ban bots, 1 man is enough. But he shouldnt track obvious train for weeks and ban 1 character after that :D
Why many private servers are clean of bots? Because they just ban them. It tooks around 1 min to detect that these 7 guys running exp 24/7 are bots. Not a weeks/months like NC does. It tooks 1 sec to understand that man spamming something about adena selling should banned, seriously! But i guess NC makes a thorough investigation :D:D:D
NC just dont want to see servers empty - this definitely will happen if they will start real banhammer.
I'm sure there are many reasons. All we can do is speculate. Most of what I see holds truth,but if this keeps up there won't be any actual live people left.
I've already opened an account over on Innova. Maybe that will actually be worth trying, maybe the player base is better. Doesn't hurt to try it out.

Indeed, Innova has currently no only a better gaming environment than NCWest but maybe the best for Lineage 2 in all the entire world, thats all i can say. And i say this with sadness.
What NCNA needs in the current situation is players monitoring for bots. It is that bad.
In Chronos for instance if we give Colorado doing the dirty job, the server will have no bots in 1 hour.
The cheaters are so calm that they even thing that NCNA is making their main income from them thus they are untouchable. This is the l2 we are playing. Where the normal player and the normal honest customer is a low profile customer, and the cheater is the king.
This either has to be totally changed or it will be the end.

No we can't have players banning bots. People not guilty would be banned.

Colorado is a zealot. Not sure you should give a person like that banning rights.

If I was a GM, even Colorado would not be safe from my righteous wrath! (I mean, isn't he guilty in partying with some dubious toons, after all?) :p
But seriously, if I was a GM, I'd start from banning the bots retroactively (by server logs), beginning from that guy in Brig armor whom I saw botting in EG on May, 29th, 2005. add GM tangent and sparse to that list as well. NEVER have I dealt with more incompetent staff. HELL even mcdonalds part time help knows how to run a company and customer support better than all 5 of them combined.

Spam was overrated ... he was Head GM over the period L2NA got a) completely overrun with bots and b) got completely overrun with ranger etc.
The fact he went on server wide chat 2-3 times and "publicly" banned bots (ie made xxxxx banned type announcements) doesn't mean he was more efficient. If anything he had an easier job. Back then it cost $25 bucks to buy the game and $15 bucks a month to play. Banning a train actually hurt (9*$25 = 225 + 9*$15 = 135 ie a train getting banned cost the farmer $360 out of pocket cash. Plus whatever items/adena were lost with the train. Right now it costs nothing to start a train or two. But even back when it did cost money, trains flourished. Because the situation then was the same as the situation now. They knew, as they know now, that the bulk of their income comes from bots.
The only time they went really at it with bots was after Spam left and Omega was producer for half a year. Guess what happened? Massive ban spree, completely empty servers to the point the forum warriors that were running the "ban bots crusade" had started a new "spend money to advertise L2" crusade the servers were THAT empty, and obviously ... Omega was gone.
You guys should quit looking at this through rose tinted glasses. NCNA (or NCWest) has just been unable or unwilling to do anything about third party programs (PVE & PVP) since C5 when they really became the majority of active accounts. Deal with it.

no need to gloryfy HGSpam .. he was also in charge when the situation went whorse in the first place ... and it was even more bad then its now, he did (almost) nothing for years.
fyi Spam aka Mr Porter is now head of the whole Customer Care dept. of NCWest aka those that deal with the GSU as well those that take care of the petitions etc.
so to keep it really simple he holds end responsibility of the current bot/3rd party soft status on the NCWest servers.

Arg0nautes never was,never is and never will be a cheaters clan. If you get out of a town and pvp, you will see who is cheating and who is not. And Colorado is a great person-player with ultimate perception of justice and legit gaming. Otherwise he wouldn't be in Arg0nautes either. Mr Porter doesnt care about bots anymore as they dont have the staff or manpower to deal with the f2p system. so just deal with the bots, or start your own trains, everyone else does, how do you think adena is made???
just make sure you start enough trains on all the servers so you can transfer all your adena to your main account...dont worry its not hard, there is a script to do it for you automatically, and all youi have to do is buy some ncoin every now and then so you can keep your trains/adena flow constant...40bil + a month here you come. In 5-6 months you should have enough money via trains to buy yourself whatever gear you want or buy a new car...easy money.
Mr Porter says they ban millions of toons....but I know 5 players on chronos alone that have over 100 bot toons each, for at least the last 6 months...2 of them live in orange county :)

My point (on a serious note) was simple: anyone who joins random pick-up groups is guilty in (unintentionally) supporting the botted characters. Yesterday you could see them botting in the swamplands, today they gather around Kartia npc (or in Nornils cave) asking for party to leech from legit players.
