is the new job hiring posting for a new gm due to someone getting fired for corruption?
the server numbers combined seem awfully low lately.
i remember someone telling me the ultimate responsibility of the gm team was to ensure a level and fair playing field for all....I wonder how that is going?
so whats next gm's?
any leadership from the gm team? words of optimism for the new or old players?

I ask only in attempt to enjoy a better game. I have fun most times with this game as a social hobby and have invested quite alot of time and money. probably more than 99% of the players.
Its no big deal, as I can drop it like a bad habit and move on to one of my many hobbies.
Quality assurance and control department employs many duties...I am not here to argue about definitions and meanings over something that was sarcastic in meaning in the first place
Game Masters help players with problems like being stuck in an instance. Apart from that there are also special Game Masters in the Game Surveillance Unit who are supposed to ban bots.
Juji is a Production Assistant, supposed to help Cryo with extracting money from the players' pockets.
Vali is a Community Manager, basically taking care of the forums. In the past, Community Managers have also organized hand-made events, but this does not happen any more.
The Quality Assurance Tester NCWest is at the moment trying to hire is supposed to test patches for Lineage 2 and Aion that are being sent over from Korea, where they are obviously not tested. The patch notes that are posted on Wednesdays do not reflect reality. Nothing is getting patched.
The interesting question is, when the new Quality Assurance Tester does find bugs in patches, will NCWest have the guts not to install those patches but ask Choi So-ra to go over them again? Past experience makes one doubt this.
As far as saving the game is concerned, this needs to be done in Korea. To be clear, you must ask if this company is willing to remove bots..
They live with them for more than 10 years and are not compatible to remove botting. From techinacal point of view it's not big deal. you don't need 100 dev staff for that.
I think there are more tentacles between 'top botters' and inside and these ties becoming more stronger... All bann hammers are known prior - you can get this info from well known bot soft owners, not free
of couse, there is scripts how to pass automatic gm checks, whatever - if you don't fight and make cheater's life easy, they of couse cheat more..

of course there are bots, in fact the majority of the toons ingame are bots. The problem is you lack the brains to realize that that is precisely the reason they can't ban them all. Not cause there is a conspiracy. Cause quite simply bots subsidize your free to play.

I think my best guess would be to focus on making the rich in game not so rich and rmt adena not so cheap...of course that stems from bots...
they ban all of china ip addresses due to bots, what so hard to ban all the american/euro ip addresses for botting?
The majority of the people playing this game aren't american.. but euro.
Most Euros use WTFast, BP, LP to access the servers, due to lag.. the IP presented to NCSoft.. isn't the person's real IP, but WTFast, LP or BP server IP.
If you ban that one.. not only you risk banning clean people using lag reducing programs, as you risk banning players that don't even play L2 but play other NC games and are at that moment using the same lag reducing server, to access a NC service.
GMs/GSU needs to do manual checks.. and needs 500% more proactivity IG, in sieges, in Chaos and in oly.
They banned all chinese IPs for RMT ... cause most of the middlemen in L2 RMT were Chinese ... and that was relatively easy to do (and completely ineffective by the way) because NCWest isnt covering china, there's another lineage 2 service for china.
Why was it ineffective? Cause the chinese RMTer can afford the 10 bucks a month it costs him to buy a VPN service to tunnel through.
Banning individual IPs is again ... completely unfeasible. a) a college dorm with 20 people playing lineage has one external ip. Do you ban all of them if one guy bots? b) residential users can just reset their VDSL/whatever modem to get a new different ip. c) as has been said lots of people use VPNs to connect to the servers, do you ban all of them?
I will be honest. I stopped caring about PVE bots round about Hellbound, i figured they are part of the game, who cares. IMO NCwest should figure out a way to completely block ranger etc, the PVP bots, that's what ruining the game IMO. Yes the armies of Phantom Summoners in D grade killing mobs in WOA or whatever are annoying, but what has ruined the game for me is the PVP bots, not the pve bots. Hire a smart guy, make it his only job to block 2-3 programs from injecting themselves into the client, job done. Problem is, they can't. It has to go through Korea.

I have better gear than most +8 set, +14 blessed weapon, B.anthy and valakas, longing, +8 shirt, etc... and I am bored with the scripts used in abundance for pvp at seiges, etc...
i only have fun in oly, and that is getting boring too. the only thing that keeps it fun is that I only use 1 hand and point and click for everything...have to be on my game :)
I dont know what can be done...I dont think NCWEST has a clue either...but I assume a fair playing field is what drives competition.
I thought spending alot of money would help with the F2P system, but that only helps if people arent using 3rd party programs.

The list above probably has 80% of users in the bottom half. So this, if accurate, means 20% of the people playing this game are ruining it for the other 80% and results in many quitting. thus the server decline....

Childish thinking that removing f2p option would remove bots... bots didn't apear in game with f2p. they was there allvays...just now it come more massive.. because uncotrolable thing spreaded...
from techinacal point of view you can ban bots - not by ip (it's useless solution, not all top farmers are chinese btw).. banning can be via software implementationand development. it's already well known software used by bots (it have russian influence btw, don't blame chinese for everything) so prohibit usage of it its easy from development point...
The other question if this game not too old for now. competitnios is also exists in this game field .. i think that this company didn't want to invest big money in this game which have unclear feature or popularty in time perpsective. like old engine, bugs, fight cheating, advertising all requires money.. maybe they think that removing bots is not going to make this game more popular, so why invest in development..
nowdays nobody want's to grind or make everything legit way..

Bots will never be gone. We can ban until we turn purple, and more will always continue to pop up. IMO, the only remedy is to expand hunting areas, speed up spawns and/or add more spawns. Bots are everywhere, and the only reason they piss anyone off is because they take all the mobs...not necessarily that they're there. So, expand and add..........fixed.
I think I would be happiest if sometime during next major update to game they did a ninja ban to all the players that have to participate in the bot race to 100.
let and watch all those afk pve'ers get to 100/100 and then ban all those that botted to 100 at once...lol...that would make me happiest...
you let it go to long and top botters will have dozens of 99 toons in the wait...for either sale or just stockpiled for when the banhammer does arrive.

Exactly, just because everyone zergs the forums about the bot issue doesn't mean that's going to help. Obviously you can see the results of that labor if you go back to the last 10 pages. The more people pitch a fit the more mental suggestions to prevent botting I see. I'm tempted to pop a bag of popcorn every time I read the forums if it wasn't for my diet plan >.<
