99/99/80/80 takes ~ 1.5 year. thats considering you play every day around 5-6 hours :) or if u not rly legit and u pay some ncoins for runes rtc etc you can do it in lets say 4 months ? yah abaout 4 months . But in most cases those toons who doing that goes to ban :D
Sorry, you lost me at "too dang long to level in this game". I was too busy lolling my eyes. I didn't read the rest of the post. You should have been here before GoD rolled out on Retail, now that was a grind.
I saw your name and decided not to read the rest of your post.
*ROLLS EYES*
It takes longer to level now (without runes) then it did back then. Yea, it may take 1000 hours to go 59-60, but hey, max level was 60 back then.
*ROLLS EYES*
Name fits yea champ.
lol ok. Sorry, if Retail doesn't have x100 xp per mob for your instant gratification. But, rest assured you will find some people who will feel your pain on how long it takes you to get to max level. But, just like you, they never experienced Retail before Free to Play. Buck up, buttercup. You can do it if you put some time into it.
Someone else should make a graph of how much time it'll take an individual to legitly grind 1-99/99/80/80, then show it to everyone here. I guarantee you it'll be a shocker.
Some people are "ok" with dropping like 10k hours of their life to acquire that goal, but a lot aren't.
NCSoft was going in the right direction with the 200% mentor exp, but now 1-85 takes forever again and I assume it'll just keep getting worse.
On L2 an exp bot should be allowed imo. I've never seen a game require more time to reach the max level than this one.
If NCSoft just allowed everyone to use a program to exp, and completely erase any and all programs used to pvp, then I think this could become a very popular and awesome game.
With that being said, I'd never advise nor suggest to any of my friends to start playing L2, simply because of how long it takes to level up. When the mentor exp was 200% I did try and get my friends into it though, but as it stands, right now, lol I wouldn't dare do it.
Enough rambling.
Sum it up, it just takes too fricking long to reach max level. Sorry, but this game just doesn't seem to be for people like me, people who like actually beating all the game's objectives and to participate in any and all competitive opportunities. Showing my face after 5000 hours of grinding and saving every dime I make, while being incredibly lucky with istina raids (etcs) and still getting oneshotted as a tank by a +16 r99 guy is one of the most unenjoyable gaming experiences I've personally had.
Hopefully something is implemented for newer or returning players, like a program, because man it is such a chore to grind exp and grind for gear. I mean heck, IRL I have tools to make my chores easier, but in L2 I feel like a primitive caveman.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahaha leveling became stupid easy since GoD.
I've started in january of 2012 with my main toon (and my boxed pp along with it), and rigth now, I'm 98 on main (91 dual) and the boxed one is already 90+ (85 dual), and no, I didnt use any program to "make things easy" nor was willing on runes to lvl up (almost did it through raids and instances and quests). Would I say it was hard to beat? God, no! And with the reservation that, from times to times, I soon or later take some breaks from the game (always about 1-3 months) in all accounts, lol. Really, its a hell of easy to lvl up, and even more if you have the spirit masochist enough to fill NC wallets buying all sort of xp booster.
About the grind, a week ago I finished a dual class in a support toon (iss) - only 5% from mentee apreciation buff + 3% from light castle (only bonuses used) and vitality, I did level her from 40 to 83 only doing raids, with exacts 1h30h powerlvling her from 83-85. Now I hitted 86 on her, close to 87!! Here too, I can never call it "a hard way to lvl up".
Some ppl just dont know "how to xp" anymore. They always wanna the easy way, and done. And for last, now I see a lot of ppl hitting max level, but ending completely lost 'cause they did lack the progressive "maturity" of earning each level, and evoluting at each progress. If you expect too much, you have high chances to end up with a frustration feeling.
yes lineage 2 is a korean grind game, congrats for discovering the wheel.
drop a few hundred bucks into runes and you can be 99/99 in 4 months of 4 hours a day gaming (the /80/80 part takes 3-4 days each, call it a week for both, if as you claim you "know what you are doing")
or don't and play at your own pace
those that have been here longer than GOD spent years getting to 75, then further years getting to 80 then 85. Then they had to get to 99. What do you want? To play a week and be endgame?
Play on Innova, with their Premium Account and Vitality you can level 4x as fast as here (and some more, taking into consideration that certain levels have been proven to require more xp on NCWest than Innova).
And yea, is long but in that long way you learn to play your char and that is pasion of this game if you ask me, ppl who make 99/99 and not know the need to bsoe from balok prison or other lol normal game stuff r just bots not players of L2...
Funny to be hearing this from a guy who taught other players how to lvl like a pro till level 95 :D I'm 98 and almost half to 99 on the main, dual is 95, I play 5h max a day since the server was opened. At first 6 months i played only on weekends. So if you do all your dailies each day for lets say 12 months I think its possible to have it all done in just one year. But either way its not about getting to the end as soon as possible. It is about having fun on your journey to 99 and then looking forward for new objectives to fulfill. :p But yes at some points i feel really negative about people with god-like gears. +17 Dark Aramanthine bow looks like from out of space, and right soon after it is seen in game NC soft makes an update to improve yuls dmg, whom already was good enough, in my opinion. Suspicious isn't it? :D

Actually getting 3 subs on lv 80 takes about one week (just have to farm raid bosses fast and you are easily 80 on subs and 85 on dual class and I did my dual class 52-85 in 3 hours by killing raid bosses only). Considering my personal experience, my char is already 1 year and 5 months old (playing like 1 year and 1 month) and I am like almost 99/90/80/80. I would agree that making 99/99/80/80 takes about two years (no runes, no other things from ncstore).
In my opinion this is the best post I have read in 9 years..it is more than time for L2 to consider that real people with real lives and real jobs and real time cannot and will not play Lineage 2.
Then take into account that some dumb *** livin at home with mom **** with a script and bot will outlast, outplay and outlevel any legit player (real player, not the disabled stay at home 24 hr a day on disability dude) and laugh at you when you complain.
I will return to NCWEST when I can pay to play legitly, until then I am more than enjoying EU Server and Innova.
:) Well if the time playing l2 and one should have a slight pasiencia to play and virtual father to marry the game. That to bring 1 ½ playing every 5 to 6 hours a day. Now my wife knows that I always play the l2 and she tells me. "Buscate groom a suit that you're getting married again with the game c (:. But my reason and if things should improve a lot more experience and istancias and drop of each quest and the problem of bots always no but as they say here "with silver dance monkey" ....... (:
The answer to all these threads crying about the game being too hard or long have the same solution. I won't even waste time like the others... go play an easier game if Lineage 2 is too much for you. No game should be endured, have fun playing jacks or hopscotch instead.
@Mature, yeah, welcome the gratz from you - despite the times I go off from game is almost more than half of that total time since I started. But you shows smtg insteresting, than a lot of ppl seems to be lacking too: although there's too much things to do the moment after you create your toon (quests/grinds/places/instances), it isnt mean you have to do everything, not at all. Then if you know exactly what you have to do, you wont be wasting your time. But all its up to you choices, w/e.
those that have been here longer than GOD spent years getting to 75, then further years getting to 80 then 85. Then they had to get to 99. What do you want? To play a week and be endgame?
maybe a private server style, where you create you character and puff, you spawn with full level, naked and enough coupons to trade for top weapon/armor/jewels at your choice in any GM npc. :p
Not just leveling. 900 item "daily" quest is not daily unless you play for hour after hour after hour. Go cross eyed or have a fit or take to your pc with axe because you on 890 and just killed 50 in hour only see your at 898....
Plus don't forget all these players wanting 30, 50 and some 100m for the armor you need before your free armor expires.
But there so many things like having wait 2 days for new mentor because the number of players who start and quit after 7 days is high.
Fact is lot of games out there now. This isn't 2005. 3D graphics doesn't hit the mark. Just look at the tens of millions playing click games that require less computing power than 486 with super vga (that is only because most pcs before then didn't have enough colour range).
I clearly am of oppinion devs don't read the forums. THe read the memos given to them. How to make the game more/less stressful to keep those hooked from leaving while trying enough get people to pay for drop/xp runes.
It isn't how long it takes to level the problem. It is the frustation of drops, having to kill so many within an hour because you need get npc buffs and shots.... Then higher level you go, the number daily quests goes down, less zones, more crowded the zones are, the more you have to kill to get quest item and high target of items to get "reward". Then gasp at prospect of needing basic s, s80 or r on your sub.
SO really not just leveling, but everything, even aquiring s and s80 for subs. The whole game is too long. Then when you get to high level, you still not and never will stand against anyone who played for years already and likely you never will because your more likely to quit, fail or they leave game before you make 99/99/80/80 with something better than basic armor. Then consider how you going get couple billion in adrena with low drops, low drop rate and how you going sell all those items to players who don't have adrena? So all those friendly reminders, you can shout it until blue in face to people, you never going stop cheating when playing by the rules is pointless.
I don't frickin' care how long it takes me to get to 99/99/80/80. I'm just enjoying the journey. I've already conceded that doing whatever it takes to get to 99/99/80/80 would either turn me into a social invalid, or force me to quit my job/family and sell my soul. No thanks.
All I ask is that NCSoft keep the content coming for those of us who will never see the endgame. I realize that guys like me are a drag on your resources, since we play the game without buying up all of your XP runes and other store items, but hey, this is the underbelly of free to play. Some of us really just want to be entertained ... for free.
(real player, not the disabled stay at home 24 hr a day on disability dude)
Since there really are disabled players that can only play games because their freedom of movement is limited, I consider this sentence disgusting.
NCSoft should improve some things in the game, things that have been forgotten in last years or simply put aside, and increase the appeal of the game:
Revamp the old quests and their rewards.
Restore the manor system and put that system under the control of npcs.
Erase the path to awakening and put common weapons, jewelery and armors, with reasonable prices, in all npc stores.
Revamp spoiling in the game, with sensible spoil rates.
Decrease the need of an enormous quantity of materials to craft anything important.
Erase npc buffers.
Decrease in about 90% the fees for teleportation.
Increase the rewards and exp received in party.
Re-open the catacombs and necropolis.
Delete the current pk system, and back to the old system.
Re-enable the chance of drop something when dying in a fight with a mob.
Enable automatic events:like king of the hill or team vs team.

I can only tell you that my main 1-99 was around six or seven months, but that was with a constant grp grinding at least 32 hours per week and using vit items and runes a lot (not all the time as then they were still restricted), plus daily quests on the side. My sub I used xp bottles to get from 85-95, 95-97 only took a month of fairly casual xping, 97-99 took several months as I only xp'd off of raids (17bil xp for Octavis, 6Bil for Istina, etc).
The first full afk grps in EG did 1-99 in like 3 months if I recall the museum statistics correctly. I put that for comparison purposes.
@OP: Bro, if they make it EVEN easier,
1) They will make less money from rune sales (easier game = who needs runes?). In fact, with the more people reaching the final goal of their characters in terms of evolution, more people are likely to feel bored with the game and simply quit. Less sales again.
2) You start to play in the server, walk into aden and see that everyone is using R99. Welcome to just another PvP server. Seems fun now?
In fact, go ahead and google for some PvP server and have some fun being insta-max level. I don't think that's fun tough. No pain, no gain.
And don't forget it's Korea that dictates how the game is, in every aspect. NCWest changes as little as possible, like the reward items of the Hero Box -Western Winds in Lindvior (WHY NO DEWR??? :D) , and things like that. In other words, your post, be it right or wrong, can't change anything, sorry.

our xp table is twice the korea xp table. caso vc nao saiba.
99/90/66 with 10 hours/day job and a fiancee+dog that need my attention.
Char birth date: February 2013
Total xp boost items used : 30 Vit maintaining potions and 12 Draco xp from event (42 hours)
I sugest you stop waiting near kartia/tereodor NPCs and go kill some mobs.
I'm calling BS on this. Either you spend 8 hours per day after work every day grinding (even on the weekends) or, well I believe someone else already made the accusation.
That's also an incredibly small amount of vitality maintaining potions for that short time period if you were doing this all legit.
Well maybe if you were running multiple back to back Kartias you could cut out some of that time (because for the time expended to do a Kartia is way better XP/min than field mobs).
But quite frankly grinding 85+ level field mobs is less fun than chewing glass. They have too much hp, give too little reward, and I just don't enjoy that type of game play anymore because it is much too mindless and repetitive.
