Durring the 8-28-2013 maintainance, the window transparency bug was supposed to be fixed. Appart from the fact that it wasn't fixed, it's even gotten to a point when almost each time i use a scroll of escape, i teleport or resize the game window would result in the same problem that IT WAS SAID TO BE FIXED. After this bug appears, the game client will crash in a few minutes while moving around or teleporting.
All game servers will be down for maintenance on Wednesday, August 28th, 2013, at 5am PDT / 7am CDT / 8am EDT / 12pm UTC/GMT. Estimated downtime is approximately 4 hours.

I know maybe is not the right place to ask, but is any way to change your character from mystic to fighter appearance?
In my case I want to change from orc mystic to orc fighter. Is only the appearance, not gender or class.
In L2Store is one item: "Gender Change Ticket", but this will change only gender: from female to male or male to female.
My request should be possible since the gender change is done manually by NCSoft member and the item "Gender Change Ticket" is only a proof that you purchase this service.

Waiting NCSoft reply on this request.
There is no way and i doubt this will be possible. I still wait for kamael gender change ticket :|
It seems that they ban a lot. Since few days it is very difficult to find randoms parties for 97+ daily quests (GF/HF/K95 ...). Anybody else noticed that too ?
Oh you are still alive! I thought I broke you last night ;)

Vali, some news about when u guys will fix Reflect from ghost hunter? Very important skill broken since lindvior...
We'll look into that. PM me about it, please.
So, how many NcCoins is this new event going to cost to play?
All cards drop in game and can be traded amongst other players.
Maintenance is complete. Log in and enjoy the event. The Legendary Card event information will be live shortly.
Dude, I don't mean to sound like a ****, but you said we'd have non-ncoin events, yet here is another one. That it only costs 1 ncoin really makes no difference, since you only sell them 400 at a time or more. I wouldn't care, except that it's almost a law of nature at this point that anything you put in the store has a drop rate of 1/1000000000000 in game.
I know that you don't make policy for the game, you're just the messenger, so please take this back to those who do make policy. You have monetized every portion of this game, and made the game many times more expensive than when it was subscription based, so please let people enjoy the NPC events without interjecting the L2store into it. It's such a turn off how you're attempting to shake every last dime out of people.

You basically wrote what I wanted to write.
I have to disagree with those complaining with the event items which are available in the L2 store (no surprise ofc). The game we play is not a free public playground (which is paid by tax payers) and requires funding. Buying $5 worth of NCoin per year will be more than enough to allow anyone to casually participate in all the events of a given year. If your greed compels you to over subscribe resources to any event it is going to cost you for that desire.
Bottom line is no one has to spend any money to experience this event and reap the rewards.
Yeah... you don't need coins to participate. When NCsoft went to the free to play - Truly Free business model EVERYONE was painfully aware they would still need to pay their bills. In game purchasing is proving to be a lucrative way for the gaming companies to make profits.
prof·it
1. a financial gain, esp. the difference between the amount earned and the amount spent in buying, operating, or producing something.
Everything done to this game cost, the creation of this event cost and they should charge us. If the cost of this game is too much of a burden find a different solution for your entertainment. If you bought the "Aspiring Orc Ruler of Aden Card Pack" everyday for the next 30 days you would spend less than 75 cents to participate, if you choose not to buy the web store item it would cost you nothing to participate.

I usually ignore you since I think you're just a troll (no one could be that much of a suck up), but I'll assume for a moment that you're sincere in your desire to provide good head to every last member of NCSoft, and thus actually respond to your inane post this time.
Most people complaining here are not opposed to NCSoft making a profit, it's good for them and keeps the game around. What people dislike is that every portion of the game has essentially become monetized. This is counter to their statement of intent when they rolled out free to play, and overall it is bad for their business and our entertainment. You're right, no one is forced to play here, we could all take our business elsewhere, and then where does that leave NCSoft? Microsoft could charge 500 dollars per game, but not many people would pay it. NCSoft is attempting to get people by charging smaller sums for virtually everything in game.
Some of it is fine, but people are questioning the need to add even event items into the store. In case you have not noticed, people are leaving the servers to go to Innova or to just play something else. Should they choose to keep at this they will eventually just drive more and more away. For this event they have obviously changed the drop rate, as I've just xp'd for hours and got a handful of items. Now before you drivel on about freeloaders, here is my NCoin purchase history just for this month thus far:

Go post yours bro and tell me how supportive you are toward these servers
First off you contadict yourself when you mention people leaving to go to Innova because of NCoin costs...I'm pretty sure Innova had the free to play business model before NC West switched to it so that point is moot especially when the main reason people are leaving this game is because the ones who don't have bot trains farming them adena and/or massive amounts of scripts for pvp just can't compete on a gear level or a skill level since they're facing a person's ability to buy or create scripts and not that person's actual skill level. For those that don't cheat spending money in the nc store seems to be the only option and that in itself is upsetting. So next time you wanna cut someone down, think about your "actual" contribution to this game because your clan's contribution to the scripting community and the bot farming community is in fact the reason people are leaving, not because of the free to play system.

Actually, I'm not contradicting myself, as Innova doesn't add event items into their store. They seem to have a much better grasp of how to run a free 2 play model. You're right that a lot of people are upset about bots, but then that's just another reason to question why they should monetize every last aspect of the game.
PS- Neutrals and randoms, probably one of which you fall into, RMT a lot and bot also, so please spare me the chat about which clan is destroying the game.
Go post yours bro and tell me how supportive you are toward these servers
Some might be impressed, I’m not. Wondering why this has degraded to a show me yours and I'll show you mine conversation?
The famous mini-game will only be available from September 4th to September 18th, so spin and win today!
No doubt your spending spree is directly connected to gambling on the wheel of misfortune. I have never respected those that brag about how much they spend on their entertainment, the expenditure is relative to the individuals finances. To me the $20,000 claimed by another player is no more significant than your $100 claim towards the support of NCSoft.
I merely point out that complaining about NCSoft charging you to play their added features is just silly at this point... you obviously don't mind spinning the Aden Prize Wheel at 1 Aden a turn.

Actually, most of it is not connected to that, and it's amusing how all of a sudden you want to shy away from the topic of buying NCoin now that someone has called you out on it. Go back to your cave troll, and think about how pompous and foolish you sound on a regular basis.

Why you would assume I don't waste hundreds of dollars on this game each month is hilarious. Unlike you I don't need to post how much I "support" this game, I don't need to feed my ego. Rest assured I'm as foolish as those that buy Ncoin online and miss out on getting those bonus BEWRs.

That's a cute attempt at a swipe, but alas I know all about NCoin cards. Sometimes they are sold out, and sometimes I don't feel like making the trip. But it still doesn't change the fact that you're always going on about deadbeats and leeches complaining, and I shot that down for you.
We actually complain about - "There will be events without NC coins."
This is not one of the community events I referred to last week. This is a server event. But we will use this and others feedback to improve future events.

The more you go on about me not spending... I mean supporting NCWest the more you look foolish. For the record, I don't recall any post where I called anyone a deadbeat or leech. I try not to label people are categorize their status in life, we are all very different, most of us come here for entertainment... regardless what we choose to pay to attain it.

I think most of us are asking for server events that do not include the store. Like the ones we had at the start of GOD (Draco I, etc). I'm assuming by community events you mean stuff like GM buffs, free vit refills, etc.

No Offense Vali, it's really not that difficult to comprehend what people are referring to here, so not sure why "Feedback" needs to be brought anywhere. People are asking you to stop adding events to game that are tied into, or can be played with by using NcCoins. Especially events where you nerf 1 of the items needed, but conveniently sell them for NcCoins. In other words, for once provide an event into this game in which event items can't be purchased with NcCoins.

I totally agree with this. The Event System has drastically changed too much into a Pay2Win Bussines Model.
I really miss the old free events. Tersi's Light, Pumpkin Event, Medal Event and such. I thought events are being put in place to attract more players (old and new) to spend and play more time in this game in that particular week. So in return for your playing time players will be rewarded accordingly. They will get event items in return which they could turn in for nice rewards. That is what a event is all about. Help and Support vs. the Community who gathered up and is dedicated to invest their irl time into a videogame monitored by your company. Right?
In the old days when a particular season event came back. Players actually returned and start playing the game more those particular days of the event. Everything was boosted. More people logged in. So you had more PvP, more parties going on. Sometimes we even took double EXP weeks/weekends: Revita Pops and such. Right now: zero without paying top dollar for it.
Right now when you even say the word "Event" in Ventrilo/Teamspeak. Players will laugh and say: What Event. They will also say: [CENSORED] them! It won't make players login anymore, because everything is related to lower droprate versus NCoin store. I must say: I totally agree with them. I do not even login anymore, because events such as this one don't add more value to the game. I mean with or without this event: I take 0 Rewards in the end, because a legit player like me can't even complete one set of cards without the help of NCoins. So [CENSORED] that. NCsoft thinks everyone is so rich they can spend $ of NCoin in every event in every month? haha You made me laugh!
Events like this should attract players not scare them away.
I wish NCsoft good luck with this system. It aint working and will not work for me. Nice try once more again.
The poor will always keep crying about ncoin used in events.
Ignore those ppl Vali, they are not the ones that keep the servers running.
Yup you are right. Blame the poor people for playing a game which has been promoted FTP since GOD came out. Blame the poor people for trying to have some fun in L2 like you rich people do too. Buy, buy, buy. I need to be #1. Buy, buy, buy. 1 month later: Pfff this game is soo boring. None can kill me. Sell, sell, sell everything for $$$. haha GF
Yup. It is maybe better to ban all poor people who did not buy NCoin from the game so you rich people can move on in a dead server you only paid for. Server merge 5>1 LOL
Stupid Quote ... As soon I read "the poor" ... Great thinking to put a output like that in the Forum. Are you really this stupid?
Yet in any nation, community worldwide the poor are the majority of everything and anything. Without them there would not be a L2 videogame.
You just stepped on someones toes with this Sarcastic Quote of yours. Stereotyping that L2 is only meant to be for rich people? Really, wtf ... dissapointed.
I play Lineage a lot of years i also paid monthly before the game became "F2p". I also sometimes buy NCoins for hat or exp stuff. But i want even ONCE event without event items in shop - that does not make me poor person at all.

Well said. Btw, Vali I asked this in the other thread, but in case you see it here first, are the drop rates for this event modified in our particular version to drop less items compared to other territories that got the event? I'm assuming yes, since I took a toon from 40-69 yesterday, and got 24 of the orc cards and like 4 or 5 of the other pouches. Others reported getting virtually nothing in hours of hunting, etc.
The poor will always keep crying about ncoin used in events.

Englight me who is keeping this server running , you are calling poor every person that is playing in PLAY FOR FREE game without buying nccoins in a free game ?!

Those players that purchase NCoin and The Prestige Pack are keeping the servers running. Players that are not funding NCWest are not necessarily poor, let's call them "parsimonious" when it comes to paying for something they are using. That is the bottom line, some of you are complaining about paying for a service you want to use.
We have been down this road a thousand times and we will continue to disagree. I 100% believe we should pay for the extra features and items added to the core L2 content. I still believe anyone that considers themselves thrifty can have fun playing L2. However, they should not demand equal services or items. When I fly first class I don't expect to see coach passengers past the curtain demanding champagne and caviar. You get what you pay for... simple as it can be.
P.S. Not once has NCWest stated that "no purchase necessary to participate" in any of their "events".
Hello,
I used to spend every month some Euro to pay fee
Later on, I used to spend some money to buy coins and spend them.
I'm not blaming NC for NC shop
I'm not blaming NC for coin based events
But greediness is not something what I like.
Lets list just few:
Events where NC coin is only one event
Fortune of wheel where even no % of chance to get any reward is listed
Reducing vit exp % by 2.
Vitality potion what become useless as exp from RB in instance are not affected and normal mobs drain it in no time.
Even removing vit refresh drops ...
As a result instead of 800-1200 coins in month what i used to spent ... NC got practically zero - gratz!
Well I think I did my part a little this week and last week. I bought two server transfers. I've been holding out for about 3-4 months not buying any ncoins. Now that I have time to play again it would be nice for some more bot bans, buy hey I can hope!
No really? Maybe u need review the post and the subject. The guy talking like he paid all ncsoft services alone. Such forum farmer that I'm pretty sure expend more time here than in game. Whatever.
It is a wide-spread misconception that purchasing NCoins keeps the Lineage 2 servers running. There is only one kind of NCoin which is used both in Lineage 2 and in Aion, the money always going into the same NCWest account. There is no way the accountants can see whether a batch of NCoins was bought by an L2 player or by an Aion player, and they distribute the cash according to the need of the month, not according to how much was bought from the L2 Galleria or the Aion Galleria. Some of the money is going to L2, some to Aion, some is paying for the new NCsoft headquarter (http://www.inven.co.kr/webzine/news/?news=63159) in the Pangyo Techno Valley (http://www.pangyotechnovalley.org/eng/html/main/index.asp), and a lot is being used to cross-finance Carbine Studios (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbine_Studios).
Since most of the staff at NCWest is working both for L2 and Aion, it is probably not even possible to say how much of the 16.6 million dollars gross revenue (http://global.ncsoft.com/global/ir/quarterly.aspx) that NCWest generated in the 2nd fiscal quarter 2013 went into the upkeep of Lineage 2 and how much to Aion, but maybe Vali can give us rough numbers how much of that money actually stayed with NCWest, how much went to Korea, and how much was diverted for developing and marketing WildStar. Or maybe Vali could tell us what he does when he is not logged into the forum. Doubling as a QA tester? Moonlighting for Aion? :D

Vali has personal expenses with me. All those late night calls for spankings are really expensive!
There's an old saying in business that once company gets pompous HQ, they are about to fail ;)
New HQ looks great. For the record Yidao is taking the "NCoin pays for L2 servers" too literally. Of course the funds generated by the purchased NCoin of L2 players goes into a general accounting system of some sort and NCSoft/NCwest distributes funds across their many titles as needed. However, if the L2 community stopped buying NCoin all together this title would be shut down posthaste.
So... yes buying NCoin supports the servers in which NCSoft host L2 and staff assigned to support the NCWest Lineage 2 franchise.
Sometimes one pays most for the things one gets for nothing.

Did you actually have trouble understanding my post?
Haha I loled hard.
Too bad all money that u have, all the forum farmed posts and all ur arrogance can't teach you pvp.
Too bad, all that bravado of yours, and you still cant pvp yourself out of a wet paper bag.
How do I know this?
I don't, and I bet you know very little about me. But you seem fascinated by my postcount. Congratulations. But its not really anything spectacular. It's accumulated over almost 10 years. And ppl had twice what I have like years ago. Maybe you can go stare in awe at them?
Thinking forums and farming in the same sentence, I loled hard at you hahah.
No really? Maybe u need review the post and the subject. The guy talking like he paid all ncsoft services alone. Such forum farmer that I'm pretty sure expend more time here than in game. Whatever.
You seem to have trouble understanding english if that is what you read in my post.
Maybe you can have someone help you read in the future?
Wow, that quote. You possess so much wisdom. Please teach us sensei
It is very easy to find quotes on the internet, even you can. No matter how hard I try to educate the masses so many slip through remaining as idiots, just goes to prove you can't teach those that do not want to learn.

This just shows you can be ANYONE on the internet. You are the prime example of an anonymous person hiding behind a computer screen.... the anonymity of the internet makes people very brave, smart, witty, powerful and can even make you feel important at times. Heres the thing about internet crusaders such as yourself...no matter how you act on the internet, you will never have to worry about being held accountable and you face absolutely no risk of someone finding out how you truly are in real life and judging solely by your posts in this thread alone..... my guess is you thrive on that. Keep in mind I have not made fun of your personal image, education or wealth status in this post....I have just merely scratched the surface of your online persona. Now you can strike back with what I can only imagine and slightly hope for will be a very well rehearsed, very well worded / spell checked and definitely very witty rebuttal, just be forewarned I am at work at the moment and probably will not be able to check back on this thread through out the weekend, but rest assured the suspense will be killing me.

good day!
Then clearly since Dracha is then you must be too right? Honestly this is just as bad as two kids bickering in the car about who touched whom.
I am not a person who has any reason to lie or be someone I'm not, I can't stand that. I am no different in person than I am here,in-game or on facebook. Any person that I play this game with that I talk to on the phone or text will tell you I'm the same everywhere.
I don't think every single person online acts like this, yes there are people who do it,but I doubt dracha is one of "those" people. People who pretend to be more than who they are tend to be inconsistent about it.

Thanks for caring so much about me... and my anonymous persona. You know that if I had issues your post would only fuel my unquenchable need to feel very brave, smart, witty and powerful. We were discussing events and the ncoin relation. Stop making up stuff. I didnt say we should ban all ppl not buying ncoin.
You are ridiculous.
I am not ridiculous. I am being realistic with the words you placed yourself in this forum. You were not only discussing the relationship from events vs NCoin. You were also starting a discussion you can not finish. The relationship: poor players vs complaining. The relationship: poor players who decided not to spend NCoin vs rich players who do decided to spend eveything on NCoin just to be #1 in a videogame. You also carefully noted that those rich people who do buy NCoin are the ONLY ones who keep the server up and running. You are being ridiculous right there.
In return I said let's ban all those poor people who do not buy and spend NCoin and let us see how many friends you will still have left to play with in all 5 servers. In that case I wish you good luck with the server you paid for yourself to keep it up and running.
Without those POOR people you classified as complainers who do not spend NCoin. There would not be a in-game community to sustain any decent levels of mass-PvP. There would not be enough players online to keep a server running at a capacity it normally should. It would be more or less a private server with very low capacity. Where all players are running around bored in top gear.
The poor will always keep crying about ncoin used in events.
Ignore those ppl Vali, they are not the ones that keep the servers running.
Better make shure you do not say anything more stupid things like this in the future. Anyone who is a customer playing L2 in US west is entitled to have their own opinion and feedback about L2 related material in this forum. It does not matter if they are Rich, Poor, Black, White, Yellow, Green, Blue, NCoin users, non NCoin users, etcetera.
Never say ignore those people. Without us, Rich people like you can't even buy Event Items in Item Broker to complete more Set of Cards to have a higher chance of taking your top PvP equipment. ;)
Meanwhile I am having more fun in Aion 4.0 EU. Free Events. Cheap Gold Packs you can buy with in-game gold to improve your Premium Levels! Poor Players like me got a better chance of getting to TOP since we got alot more better access to everything with just killing mobs and farming here yourself without intervention of stupid NCoins ...
Other Players who are lazy to farm items themselves will buy Gold Packs with $$$ and sell them to us for in-game gold. This method in Aion EU has been very effective since both POOR and RICH people are made HAPPY. If you don't have the $$$ to buy something. Let someone else do it for you in return for in-game gold. In common sense everyone is buying NCoins in that game. Some directly and others like me indirectly.
In L2 everything is impossible. Impossible to Level up 1-99 without the help of $$$ to buy EXP Runes. Impossible to Gear Up, because Adena drops are nearly impossible. I spend 10.000 adena worth of Blessed Spiritshots to kill 1 monster, which in return only drop back 1.000 Adena or nothing at all every single time. Events which are always related to NCoins. I refuse to pay $$$ for NCoins. Like the Chance-Rate on Aden Prize wheel it is nearly Impossible to get any decent Items from it, which you could really use in-game. It is more stealing and being greedy bussiness model. Last but not least with in-game Adena droprate it is nearly impossible to spend it on someone who can Gift you items from the NCstore.
In L2 nothing is easy to access. It simply impossible adena rate, $$$ rate.
In Aion everything is easy to access. It is really possible for any aged player to start from scrap and understand how to play this game and get in a level where you can compete and play mass PvP.
In L2 constant mass-PvP is clearly dying piece by piece. Simply because the levels you have to obtain, the gear, items and equipments can not be accessed by all Players without the interferance of $$$ or NCoin. New Players can not make +16 weapons no more. Because they denied the Access of DEWR & DEAR scrolls from that System. How to compete in same Level range if you can not equip the same items in that level range like they had before?
In Aion constant mass-PvP is clearly dominating every second of the day in top levels area's. Why? Simple: Any child or parent can play this game easy. You get 1-65 Levels easy. You can get decent gear (not super gear obviously) easy. Gold drops easy. You can earn gold and spend it easy. You can twink and enchant like everyone else easy. Everything and anything can be accessed easy by any player. Even with decent gear you can start PvP in this game. Because the levels you obtain, gear, items and equipments are more easy accessed then L2. So anyone can start play this game. Mass-PvP will never die in that game. The player amount in top is only increasing in numbers. In L2 it is only decreasing because 1-99 legit will take over a year of gameplay 4 hours a day minimum. Aion it is more like 15-30 days top level depending on play hours.
It is so dissapointing how L2 changed so much when it came FTP. I spended time playing L2 from 2004. Always had two accounts paid for monthly. L2 for me is still #1 best MMORPG PvP game. In Aion I still like the Graphics more. L2 everything is way to hard to get nearly close to same gear and levels to compete in equal ways in PvP versus people who spended lots of top dollar and NCoins for it. It is a choice you make I understand. But ask yourself is it fun to play a game where you buy something and know that at one point none can kill you? Players like me already know we can't even come close to the ones in PvP gear 6 and higher. I even saw in Cronos players running around in full 10+ Armor Sets with +16 weapons. Does it make them feel more Pro since they spended more $$$ and bots when someone else has to pay for rent and diapers for their baby? I don't know. L2 balance is just ruined in my eyes. It is only getting more worse. Bot Policy started way to late if you tell me. Game is already ruined beyond repair.
That is a good question. For many years, when NCNA was permared, it was the Korean players who were paying for our enjoyment. Right now it is the Western players of Lineage 2 and Aion who pay for the upkeep of the servers and even produce a profit of 10% of the gross revenue (which is 1/3 of the cost efficiency of the company as a whole): http://boards.rochand.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=1112&start=20#p22757
In a multinational company like NCsoft funds are shifted around between branches and departments, and when you add up the costs for the employees' spa in Seoul, for financing the development of Guild Wars 2, WildStar and whatever Molten Games (http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/07/24/ca-molten-games-idUSnBw245270a+100+BSW20130724) will come up with, then the food for the L2 hamsters in Texas can be statistically neglected, and the NCoins anybody here is purchasing can also be statistically neglected.
Just look at the numbers: 16.6 million dollars in the 2nd quarter 2013. Let's say that L2 and Aion contribute more or less the same, than that's around 8 million per quarter from L2, or almost 3 million per month. The few hundred dollars a dedicated endgame player is spending per month are irrelevant. If you feel that buying event items for NCoins increases your enjoyment of the game, by all means purchase NCoins. But this is something you do solely for yourself; you are not helping the company at all. Likewise, if you feel that having to buy event items for NCoins is shabby and you decide not to purchase NCoins any more, this is something you do for yourself, so that you don't feel exploited by triangular-eyed necktie wearers. But if 10 or 100 or 1000 players suddenly stop spending money on the game, it won't even be noticed among the random market fluctuations (NCWest's quarter-over-quarter revenue went down from 22.7 million dollars to 16.6 million dollars for no discernible reason, just like that).
What keeps the servers running are corporate decisions made in Seoul, and those decisions are often quite irrational (playing at being a global player). Nothing we, the players, do or say or write on the forums has any influence whatsoever on those corporate decisions. L2@NCWest can and will be killed at any time, no matter how many NCoins you purchase :D

This is logical and probably the most accurate explanation. It's true I hadn't bought much in coins if any in the past few months. I know in the back of my mind they never noticed. You're right that personally I felt that if I HAD to purchase event items in order to get a very slim chance at a decent reward, I wouldn't do it. I'd sigh and hope the next event was optional store or hunt to gain items.
This time I did spend $10 and bought the card packs, tried turning in a set of successors of destiny and got nothing worthy, I got a buff card and spiritshot pack. I made MORE selling the cards over chancing of getting something decent. All the shop does is enable people to "buy adena" through items that can be sold to players.
Here's what I ask myself every time I see an event item(s) in the shop that can be sold in-game. "Does it hurt the economy of the server and does it only fuel RMT sellers?" Then again people can't say only bots benefit because you could actually buy them. The drop rate sucks because it's determined by how many players are out hunting and if there's bots everywhere it kills the drop rate more.

This post in no way indicates that the ppl NOT buying NCoin pays for the servers being still up.
And Yidao, I am not the only one buying Ncoin, and it doesnt matter how much I or you buy. But if NOONE bought, do you guys really think the servers would be around for much longer?
You think korea would just let america suckle off its teet?

You think korea would just let america suckle off its teet?
I think not.
Korea did let America suckle off its teat, for many years. When you download older earnings reports from [here (http://global.ncsoft.com/global/ir/quarterly.aspx)] you can see on the Excel IR_FactSheet under the Equity Method Gain Loss tab that NC Intercative was for example in 2010 operating at a constant loss (red numbers). Nevertheless Moxie, Sace etc. still drew their salaries every month. The money for that came from Korea. That's my point. There is no direct relation between the profitability of a local branch and its continued existence. I personally would have axed NCNA back then, but because of a somewhat irrational desire to maintain a global presence NCKorea decided to keep on feeding the red-haired stepchildren beyond the ocean.
But of course you and Dracha are right - when times are getting harder and it must be decided which branch has to go, the revenue created by a branch is indeed a factor. If Tabula Rasa or City of Heroes had been hugely profitable, they would not have been killed.
And I fully agree that having people around who do not pay at all is unhealthy (for the record, I myself have continuously paid subscription fees from August 2007 until free-to-play, but I never bought one single NCoin; there is nothing in the shop I would want). No-one needs tons of freeloaders to create a backdrop for mass PvP. For being able to participate in any form of PvP in a meaningful way, i.e. having the adequate level and equipment, money must be spent. And the bot problem is to a very large part created by the free-to-play system. I don't know whom the Game Surveillance Unit banned in the last wave, but this morning the qwerjholhg Summoners were at the Wall of Argos on Naia as always. A one-time account creation fee would be an easy way out of that dilemma (monthly subscriptions would motivate the GMs to let the bots run another month for a few dollars of revenue more). But there seems to be an ideological blind spot in that area among the powers that be :)
On a closing note, you have mentioned before that you dislike the WoW graphics. Therefore I think it would be only fair to let you know that with your NCoins you are at the moment paying the salaries of former WoW developers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbine_Studios) who are developing a science fiction-themed WoW clone: http://www.wildstar-online.com
Thank for the info Elmar, but I just cant bring myself to stop using Ncoin, it lets me enjoy the game more.
I guess the wow-clone is just a necessary evil :D
I dont know man.I prefer to spend my money for something meaningful like: books,clothes...socialize with people or even charity...whatever!But to buy stuff like NCoins and pixels. No thank you.
Since L2 is free to play and i DONT have to pay i will not.Even if L2 becomes PTP i would gladly go back to some private server.
Now go ahead and bash me because i choose to spend my own money for something BETTER than NCoins and pixel made stuff!
We ALL contribute for the servers by just playing here!It doesnt matter if you buy coins or not!Dont forget the reason why these servers are still ALIVE.BEacause the game is FREE tO PLAY and that's exactly why NC Soft decided to make L2 FTP because otherwise L2 would've died 2 years ago.

You bring up a valid point... without poor people not much would get done anywhere. As in the real world the lower class are 80-90% of the population and their "labor" provides the services and goods. The rich pay not to get sweaty... and they enjoy being rich. Only those with "limited resources" complain about spending money on their entertainment. I can't recall ever hearing "this massage is too expensive"... "why is this porterhouse so pricey"... "OMG spinning the Aden Wheel is 1 Adena!" Okay, I did read this on these very forums.
Nice hut, what do i need to study to work there ? Apart from the korean weird language.
Maybe i should develop some kind of useless software like gameguard and get easy money.
