Lineage 2 Returned To Top 10 In Korea!!!!!

Their players, I guess the we can have some happiness now. Looks the promise, what Mr. Gon Namkung gave to us players, that they rebuild the old gameplay and improve the new features, starts to achieve its goal.

Through the Tauti-Lindvior updates the game mostly achieved positions between the 14-17th place in the Korean updates.

While with the Epiosidion update the game hit the 12-15th positions.

But by the newest results it hit the 8th place!!!! While on last week it was 11th.

This 8th place is a very very good position anyway, because the Lineage 2 before the Goddess of Destruction updates too, mostly did stand on the 10-13th places.

I guess, if you check the top 20 list, you will understand, that this position is a kinda good one!

1. League of Legends
2. FIFA Online 3
3. Sudden Attack
4. Lineage
5. Dungeon Fighter
6. World of Warcraft
7. Blade & Soul
8. Lineage 2
9. AION
10. Archeage
11. Tera Online
12. Kart 2
13. Lost Saga
14. Maple Story
15. Cyphers
16. World of Tanks
17. Diablo 3
18. Counter Strike Online
19. Special Force 2
20. Starcraft 2

As you can see, the Lineage 2 stand on better position as the "big rival" AION, Tera, Archeage and stand before games what has also huge fan base in Korea and worldwide like the Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2.

We didn't have too much good news in the last weeks or months, even only the Thread of Vali about the Banhammer actions.

But this is a good news what for every Lineage 2 players all around the world can be happy:)!

I don't know what kind of statistic is this, but I know, that many Korean sites links to Gamenote.com, also Elmar/Yidao use this site too, if we need statistics about the Korean gamer activities.

But, it is true, that if we look the result of the last month on the gamenote, Lineage 2 wasn't in the top 10, but the Starcraft neither.

But the statistics of gamenotes looks to more realistic, it is follow well, with how much activity the players play a game in Korea.

So, personally I did control the Gamenote.com all time as the official information site, when the L2 had bad positions when it had better and right now too, when it has a very good position too.

I don't know, what is the way, how the gametrics.com make its statistic, but there is little million way of it.

Gamenote makes, that how much hours the players play with a game on a week totally in the PC caffees all together.

Currently belauae, you didn't make else, than just tried to trolling here and destroy some of the happiness, what the Lineage 2 players felt after than saw the rankings.
Why belauae tried to troll? Becouse he thow the truth into your face?Your top 20 ranking lord seems very weird and i believe is a made one,or they made it with bad numbers..unlike belauae's ranking seems more legit. And even if it was real what we will gain? They still sent us their bugged version of the game meanwhile they are light years ahead of us in updates.
TBH I don't believe in players rejoicing because L2 has gone up in the rankings... It's more likely it's NCSoft that did it.
For everybody:
Those game rankings are based on data from internet cafes that register which of the games they have installed on their computers is in use for how long (see the note at the top of the gametrics page). That means in the case of Lineage 2 on the one hand that characters which are actively played in non-peace zones (i.e. when the time points are ticking down and NCKorea earns money) are registered as well as shop Dwarves sitting in town in a background window (i.e. NCKorea is not earning money) while the player is doing his e-mails, playing League of Legends or whatever. On the other hand this means that the characters being registered all belong to legit players. The under-85 free-to-play bot trains you can see for example [here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6Hca0IkcC8)] are operated from home computers and, telling by character names (http://boards.rochand.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=407&start=1030#p22592), often from China. So those statistics are as accurate as humanly possible.

Now, while for example MMORPG.com is an NCsoft pet website and anything they write must be discarded as propaganda, neither gamenote (http://www.gamenote.com/rank_ongame/) nor gametrics (http://www.gametrics.com/rank/Rank02.aspx) would endanger their credibility by manipulating those statistics in favor of a specific company. Those numbers are all true in a mathematical sense, on both websites. The different impressions LordOfSpoil and beleaua got are simply caused by the different time frame the statistics encompass. What Lord quoted is a recent, short-term effect, beleaua is talking about the long-time trend.

Keep in mind, Korean players are volatile. They purchase a batch of time points and when they feel like it, they use them up, when they don't feel like it, those time points are safely sitting in their account, if necessary for a year or two. Fact is that the recent crafting events did bring back retired players. But this just shows how badly designed the Lindvior economy is:
http://boards.rochand.com/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=1044&start=220#p22660
So whether those returned players who are bolstering the more recent statistics will stay or leave again after some time remains to be seen.

That being said, all game-development, all bug fixes are done in Korea, paid for by the Korean players. So each minute they sit in an internet cafe, playing Lineage 2 and leaving town is a good minute :)

As you can see, Yidao did confirm too. But if you make researches, you can see the facts too.

But, yes it isn't maximally enough, that now the Lineage 2 achieved a good position, it should keep it too.

It will possible, that after this event ends may will drop some position back the Lineage 2, but for sure Mr. Gon Namkung and his team collect the feedbacks and also detect the changes too in the player activity.
So, if through the event they found a way how they can make the game more interesting to players, they can build these things to the next update or also they can extend the event period too.

I just can't understand why some of you can't just a little be more happy if we get some good news, why do you need to watch all time the bad side of it or start to trolling.

There are many other MMO or game which is in same situation or worse as the Lineage 2, but their community can be happy to good news.
As you can see, Yidao did confirm too.he only confirmed about the massive bot invasion that koreans complain about lately. have you seen the videos and screenshots? its nothing like you have seen before on any of our servers, bots are out of control in korea. so if you want to include those in your statistics, fine, do as sace did when she announced about the number of subscriptions or whatever it was but knowing clearly that plenty of them where rmt accounts. i only told you that the other site is more much accurate, they dont allow cheating in net cafe and w/e is called. why would i troll about this website, it was linked by some korean players some time ago as a good website for statistics, i didnt made up those stats.
No. 4 is Lineage ? Is it Lineage 1 ? Does it still exist on the market ?
No. 4 is Lineage ? Is it Lineage 1 ? Does it still exist on the market ?
It is, and it's more successful than L2 in Korea.
... and it's more successful than L2 in Korea.

Lineage 1 is not only more successful than L2 in Korea, but hugely more successful. Almost every fiscal quarter the L1 sales hit a new historical high, and right now this ancient game generates almost 30 million dollars per month, as opposed to the little more than 4 million dollars from L2 worldwide. The official reason given for the continuing success of L1 is "healthy user base coupled with in-game item promotions":
http://global.ncsoft.com/global/ir/quarterly.aspx

When we leave aside the item promotions, the really surprising thing is the user base. No matter which statistics you cite, Lineage 1 is almost always among the 10 most played games in Korea. This means that L1 is not only played by middle-aged middle-class people for nostalgia reasons, re-living their carefree college days, but they actually succeed in recruiting new players. Otherwise you would see an attrition of the player base caused by people having to take on more responsibility in their jobs, getting a family etc.
The downside of this, from an L2 point of view, is that NCKorea is throwing all resources at Lineage 1, neglecting other games. For example in the new NC Brand Shop there is only Lineage 1 merchandise:

http://static.inven.co.kr/column/2013/09/05/news/i0787128108.jpg
http://www.inven.co.kr/webzine/news/?news=63159

From a business point of view this is a wise decision, but it doesn't help us L2 players.
So is it possible that the extra crafting and materials event brought back so many people that it even reflects L2 position in game charts not to mention revenue? That would be interesting, I hope some bean counter storms in and seriously steps on dev's thumb asking "What was that you just did? Can you repeat it?" :)
It could be simply a temporal coincidence, but when you look at the forum activity (http://lineage2.plaync.co.kr/board/serverchannel) you will notice that while before the crafting events the boards were practically dead, people asking lonely questions that nobody answered, there was suddenly a great number of WTB/WTS posts concerning the Ancient Tomes of the Demon required to get recipes from Budenka, and posts about how many you need for which recipe. So interest in crafting definitely increased, and since you only get those Tomes of the Demon by hunting on Hellbound (http://power.plaync.co.kr/lineage2/%EC%97%90%ED%94%BC%EC%86%8C%EB%94%94%EC%96%B8+%EC% 95%84%EC%9D%B4%ED%85%9C), a place where only 99ers, i.e. paying players, can go, this would reflect both in the number of players online and in the revenue.

The current Mid-Autumn event (http://lineage2.plaync.co.kr/board/l2online/view?articleId=556064), where, by increasing the success probability from 60% to 70% the developers de facto reduced the amount of materials needed until you get your desired item (less failed crafts, less mats going up in smoke), is a successful attempt to repeat the positive effect the first crafting events in July had. But ultimately this is a low-budget solution. The Mid-Autumn Festival was yesterday (full moon) and the event will be over on September 25. In the long run only a fundamental reworking of the Crafting System can revive Lineage 2.

Another thing that meets the eye is the considerable number of fishing-related screenshots (http://lineage2.plaync.co.kr/board/image/list?page=14) that appeared after the Raiders update on August 21. The Fish Stew (http://boards.rochand.com/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=1044&start=200#p22622) you can now get, basically 30 minute +3 -0 dyes, seems to have a great allure. There is theoretically no reason why people shouldn't go fishing in Heine, a peace zone, for free, but the Korean players seem to prefer exotic locations, even if it means that their time points are ticking down :D
Lineage 1 still is the backbone of NCsoft as you can see in the 2nd quarter earnings, 28% bigger profit than the first one:

Blade & Soul and GW2 are close to be launched in China, so their numbers are expected to increase in 3Q.

Considering the numbers of L1, which is about 50% of all their gains, I hope they think of it and make Lineage Eternal closer than L1 instead of making something far away from L1 roots.

Yes L1 will continue being the biggest one but Eternal has the chance to become the second one if they go to the right direction in the desing-development.
Do the Korean players cheat like the american players do? or do they play the game legit so that it actually means something and it is fun?

Does anyone know?
Since NCKorea went free to play for pre-Awakening characters (time points are not ticking down when such a character is logged in), and especially since the beginning of this year, the bot situation in Korea is totally out of control:
http://boards.rochand.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=407&start=1010#p22427
Somebody must be buying the adena those baby bots are farming, so yes, Korean players are engaging in Real Money Trading.

PvP software, on the other hand, is virtually unknown in Korea. If you do a search for "internet cafe" on this forum you will find the reasons why this is so :)

I am not sure whether making Lineage Eternal close to Lineage 1, i.e. setting up their own in-house competition, would be a good idea. Remember what happened to Lineage 2 when they tried to make it similar to Aion! People who liked to play Aion still played the original and dedicated L2 players got annoyed at what the developers did to the class system.

At the end of the day Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Games are basically all the same. You collect items and experience points, step by step improving the equipment and skills of your character. Lineage 2 has in addition to that the siege system as unique selling point, and with Lineage Eternal there is the way you can paint on the screen, marking the area of effect of AoE skills. Telling from the videos, Lineage Eternal seems to be heavy on mass slaughter, as opposed to the individual killing of monsters in other games. Stressing and building up that difference would probably attract more players than they could ever steal from Lineage 1 :)

not quite exactly. there are sieges every day in aion and you cant attend to all of them, not to mention the weekend sieges. there are rewards for all players who participate, better rewards for ranked players and there are also pvp quests to be done at sieges, besides pve ones. so there is no reason to not participate, only if you hate pvp very very much or have like no equipment.
here we have sieges every 2 weeks, only a small amount of ppl participate because most ppl dont want to get involved for obvious reason. the best reward a common player can get here is some fame... which is kinda lame for 2 weeks waiting... and most of the castle owners just stand there 2 hours doing nothing.
Oh, I didn't know that.
