It's been over 6 year since I have last played this game, and there are sooo much that has changed, that I am back in newbie stage, step one!
Way-back-when, during the time I was playing, I had a second account with a bishop that would follow my spellhowler around to buff her. Frankly, I don't have the resources (two computers) to do that anymore. Besides, are you even able to do that anymore?
I have been reading here and there about how NCSoft has changed the stats of the classes so that they are more balanced. I also read that there are a bit more resources available for playing (but I am still in the dark about this as far as how much resources and for what level group). Does this mean soloing is easier to accomplish now? (I plan on doing a lot of soloing. My boyfriend doesn't play  )
Dark Elf: Like I said before, I use to be a spellhowler. Spellhowlers were known as glass cannons: pack a lot of punch but easy to run a sword through (LOL!) So, when I played way back when, I always needed a buffer around so she could cast and run faster, have higher mp and stuff like that.
Gladiator. I have never been a tank before, but I was thinking that for the sake of soloing to maybe play a gladiator. That, and it might be cheaper on my virtual wallet to play one(with ss shots, I mean).
Dwarf: I am also considering maybe playing a dwarf. I am stumbling on if I should be a Bounty Hunter or a Warsmith: Make money crafting or spoiling?
I am not asking for someone to pick a class for me, I am just looking for the advantages and disadvantages on these three (or four) classes since they have changed so much from the last time I have played. (The Lineage 2 website use to have a ton of information on each class, but now it just seems to be more like advertisement than informative. Maybe I am just slow on navigating my way around the "new" website! LOL! :D )
Thank you for the help in advance. Also, please be kind (especially if this question seems uber stupid). I am old(ish) and way out of the loop. :D
85+ soloing is highly penalized, since the most profitable way to make money is going in groups.
Having said that, you can multibox from the same pc (heck, I was even able to open 3 clients on my crappy 5-years-old laptop). Hence you have no issue with playing multiple accounts at the same time (a boxed Iss Enchanter is practically mandatory in the case you want to solo in Bloody Swampland or Timiniel's Embrace).
The website has basic info on the Awakening classes, better check it because the gameplay changes *a lot* when you hit 85 and Awaken.
If youn want to reroll into a dwarf, Maestro subbed Fortune Seeker is the way to go if you want to be self-sufficient, although it's still a long way, because spoiling becomes better only at 90+.
Welcome back to L2. 6 years is a long time to be away. Much has happened. The game is now essentially divided into two parts. The old levels 1-84 and the Awakening with levels 85-99.
The first part has been made much easier to progress through quickly. Up to level 85 you have a progression help system called the Path to Awakening (http://truly-free.lineage2.com/path) that will supply you with free equipment and consumables. There are also a string of quests along the way to help you level quicker.
For soloing you can get 1 hour ISS buffs from the Adventurer's guide npc up to you're lvl 91. After that you're going to need an ISS buffer to buff you. Unless you have a slow pc you can play on several accounts at the same time and box an ISS (You can make as many free accounts as you like).
After level 84 the game changes radically. It's pretty much a new game where xp is gained through daily quests, instances and raids (After the latest update some grinding is needed again to make money though).
My only advice for choosing a class would be that you pick a class that you think would be fun to play...
Don't forget to get a mentor , you will have iss buffs on as long as your mentor is on and it will boost your xp ( same, your mentor has to be logged in ) .

Make sure your mentor is reliable. The 50% xp bonus helps a lot. But you only get it when your mentor is online. I suggest you turn that human mystic into a cleric/prophet then later down the road 85+ into an ISS. As for your human fighter Tyrr Warrior and Yul archer are pretty sick. I think Yul is stronger atm though.
