The Arteias (called Ertheia in Korean lands) are the race created by Sayha, god of wind, and used by the Giants as messengers, as they couldn't be "tamed" into serving them like the other races did :)

OK, to sum it up, Arteias, like many races in Aden and Elmore, have pointed ears, however they are not watery Elves but aerial Arteias. Those bat-like ears are probably necessary for operating a kind of sonar during night flights :)
They started looking for a Character Concept Artist in the middle of September, so something in the Arteia direction was roughly planned, but they haven't found that artist yet, not to mention any developers who would convert the concept into game code, designing skills, finding a place for Arteias in a 7 person party etc.

What I find more worrisome are the wide hips and narrow shoulders of the girls on Bystacur's picture. Creatures that fly, even if they have shed their feathers, should have wide, well-muscled shoulders and narrow hips with atrophied matchstick legs. I bet it's just for fanservice reasons. Most of L2 art depicts females with wide hips and narrow shoulders because it's a signature definition of the Koreans and Japanese way of drawing girls and women. Manga artists, too, follow this rule, mainly because wide hips magnify the reproductive capability of the woman, and narrow shoulders and ribcages make the head appear bigger, thus making women appear with bigger breasts (this is the case of Dark Elven female characters, their ribcages are way too narrow to be natural, and it's only to make those boobs bigger than they should be) and cuter -- the big heads being a characteristic of puppies and children (which, for instinctive reasons, are immediately recognizable through that sign, and they're considered cute and defenseless -> the child and the woman, being defenseless, need a man to protect them).

Considering most beings in Aden, Elmore and Gracia are using some kind of magic, they could float rather that really fly, like angels or succubi. Or normally run down on the ground and fly magic wings where needed be. Also they have to be attractive to players and cater their opinion on human beauty, not sure if many Koreans would find beings with big shoulders, big chests (not *****) and tiny legs attractive enough o even play them :)
I am still not sure if this will be playable race, there were rumors about vampires too and in the end they were NPCs :) This could be the same, flying inhabitants of archipelago somewhere up in the sky (like Ye Sagira used to be a continent up in the sky) or populating Gracia where there are vast masses of unused lands.
This is also how the Korean players in the comments under the announcement (http://lineage2.plaync.co.kr/board/l2online/view?articleId=558375) understand it. But as mentioned on the previous page, the revealing of the Arteias was a bit unplanned and I seriously doubt that the developers have fully thought through what it would for example cost to design 2nd and 3rd class skills that a player will forget again on Awakening after having played the character for a week or so.

If you run the Korean comments through Google Translator you will realize that they are in their vast majority positive, with congratulations for the 10th anniversary etc. If the developers now turned back on the playable race, this would cause huge disappointment in their core market. Therefore I think that they will be gritting their teeth and go through with the original idea, developing really elaborate 1st class skills with animations that make your computer squeak, no matter what the cost :D

I still want a kamael summoner class that has the option of mastering any two of the four classic elements (earth, air, fire, water) and who must use soul crystals to steal the souls of mobs who fit those elemental masteries, and in doing so are able to summon powerful phantasms of these creatures to do their bidding...

Actually the Kamaels are a pure creation of the Giants (and the reason for Einhasad being enraged with them, for "stealing" her power of creation)... They were never manufactured by the Gods. They were sealed within another dimension to prevent their extinction and then liberated by Gran Kain and Eva...

The Kamael were born in the Era of Myths. These mysterious creatures have preserved their own unique culture living within the confines of the Isle of Souls, a haven located to the west of the Dark Elven Village. They appeared on the continent under the guidance of Eva and Gran Kain. Unlike the other five races that were created by gods, the Kamael were created by the Giants, through genetic manipulation, for the purpose of battling against some unknown creatures. They are born into their destined religion that serves an absolute ruler called the “Mother Nornil”. Under the Mother Nornil, they devote their faith in the Iconic Trinity: the Goddess of Past, who rules history, the Goddess of Present, who records everything happening at this moment, and the Goddess of Future, who forecasts what’s to come.
The Isle of Souls was a genetic laboratory of the Giants, located at a safe distance from their capital, Arvitaire, where the Kamael were created under Head Scientist Nornil; some people believe that Mother Nornil is now a huge AI that controls all the technical aspects of the island. On creation of the Kamael there were two "versions" - the Common Kamael and the Spicula. The Spicula have three Heroes - Katenar, Harkilgamend and Rodenpicula (who is the only female Spicula Hero).
Today the political system of the Kamael is a militaristic-fascistoid theocracy, with a Hierarch ("Head Priest") at the top, who is assisted by several Vice Hierarchs.

The first strain, Spicula Kamael, was powerful and would be the spear aimed at the skies. Created strong, they would not decay either physically or mentally, but neither would they ever love, marry or have children. They could also never divert from their path set by their potential. Only four come from this strain, to wit Harkilgamed, Katenar, Kekropus and Rodenpicula. Since they were created for a specific purpose, there might've not been a particular need for them to have a female form. But Rodenpicula, the only woman Spicula Kamael, was created, especially for the second strain. The female form was essential to her purpose; she was the foundation upon which the second strain was built.
The Mythic Weapons
The Kamael, once created, fell short of the expectations. A dagger is only a dagger, after all. It does not suddenly become something more. So the Giants began to develop mighty weapons capable of harming even the Gods themselves. Eventually, they fashioned three, now mythic, weapons of the Kamael: Enuma Elish – the sharpest sword, wielded by Harkilgamed, Leopold – the most powerful cannon ever created, operated by Katenar, and Prahnah – the Shield of Light, possessed by Rodenpicula. These Three Heroes have laid out the path for future warriors. The heritage of their martial skills would stretch far into the future.
Metusela Kamael
The second strain, created with the help of the wisest four of that time, was initially an extremely weak one, not unlike Humans. In order to imbue the weak Metusela Kamael with greater strength, the creators turned to Rodenpicula and grafted a piece of her essence onto their souls, slowly increasing their power. Even the females, originally designed simply for the perpetuation of the race, later learned to wield a sword and shoot a crossbow, bearing the power of the Spicula deep within themselves.
The Metusela, created with certain unrealized spiritual potential, but no particular physical or martial abilities, needed time to mature and grow in strength. However, because they were created using Mimir’s Spring Water, they are closer to souls than other beings and possess a special ability to use souls as a medium. Due to the weakness of their natural powers, they were forced to develop other skills. And in order to inherit the abilities of the three Heroes, they learned the skill of manipulating souls.

Former Vice Hierarchs Zenya and Casca once helped train young Kamael warriors and saw them off on their travels, but after Gevurah was destroyed, they became wanderers, until they finally settled at the Imperial Tomb in the Goddard region. While Zenya uses her powers to seal Shilen's Succubi inside the Tomb, Casca risks his life by residing in the deepest parts of the sepulchre, investigating Blood Thirst. Those who help them, no matter what race, can also learn in passing that the Kamael race was indeed created by Giants.
The primary mission of the former Vice Hierarchs is to prevent Shilen from obtaining power scattered in the Tomb, while they plan to to retrieve this power themselves, as it's sought by their master Hermuncus. It is a divine power, once stolen by him from the Gods. The Kamael don't want to depend on the Gods. Casca, among others, believes that Hermuncus is the only one who can fight against Shilen and retain the peace of Elmoreden. But either way, Shilen's resurrection must be stopped at all costs.
Humans don't worry about the Kamaelic mission right now, as they're themselves too overwhelmed by immediate threats to Elmoreden.

Where in your quote is said that the Gods created the Kamaels? All I read is that the Kamaels are supposed to kill the Gods... Now, again, tell me which God created the Kamaels (don't quote Sayha: it's been demonstrated that the Kamaels and the Arteias are different races) and explain why the Kamaels should kill their own creators.

That's what Yidao does, and that's why I fully trust his expertise and opinion regarding translations.

In my post on the previous page I gave the original Korean text plus the link where I got it from. If my translation sounds strange to you, the first thing you should do is to refer to what Sabotin and I wrote about how to use Google Translator: http://boards.rochand.com/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=930&p=17314#p17314
Chances are that by using the Sabotin method of word separation you will arrive at pretty much the same result as I with my manual translations (I do the same thing in my head).
If you are still not satisfied, print out the Korean text and take it to a university near you. The Koreanistics Institute there will probably be part of a Department of East Asian Studies, so the person helping you there just has to walk along the corridor and ask his sinologist colleague when he gets stuck. The problem with L2-specific Korean is that "the Korean living next door" is just not good enough. He or she needs to have gone to school in Korea and taken Chinese. That's like when you are translating Umberto Eco's "The Name of the Rose" into English. Being British and knowing Italian is just not good enough. You must first and foremost know Latin, something you must simply have learned at school :D

Since there's talk about their skill sets being useless with GoD, as to having the awakening skills when they awake and lose the skills before that, maybe since more and more skills are being added back with higher levels on them as before with upcoming updates, it could be possible that this new race, IF it's a new race at all, will get few awakening skills, as we do now and then just level the pre-awakening existing skills till lv99, to somehow keep their unique skill set? :p
