Returning after several years away

General Discussion Started Last reply 18 posts
I am thinking of returning after several years away. I started playing right after launch on Kain server and quit before it went F2P...
I like playing Tanks and Healers and have both...is there still a need for these or has it turned into a strickly DD world now?
I also have a PP/Heirophant that I use to buff my toons and let her follow me...is 2boxing still allowed?
I cannot remember but I think my two dwarves are 52 and 53 one crafter the other mat gatherer I am hoping that there is still a market for SS and BSPS???
That's all I can think of right now, just wondering if it would be worth the time to download and play again
Thanks
Tanks and healers are a necessity, since most of the 85+ content is party oriented.

You can open 3 clients at max, at least officially. Never tried to see what happens if you try to have 4 or more clients launched simultaneously, my pc doesn't allow for that much RAM to be used.

Shots are still high in demand, but only S and R grade ones. D-A grade shots are less in demand, partially due to people outlevelling those grades quickly, and partially because the PTA provides them for free. Not to mention that they're sold in grocery stores now.
well, yes tanks and healers are always in need; though crafting wise pretty much all shots youll ever use can be obtained for free right up until A (and then the free shots you get don't last your levelling curve) but theres a big market for S grade shots and R grade shots.

2boxing is quite allowed. you probably won't do much of that beyond 85 though, as the teamwork tends to be more demanding than just buff and sit; theyve made healers and buffers combat-useful.

all your existing characters will probably be on Chronos server, however i'm not sure when the last time you logged in was, they did a delete for certain characters and i can't readily recall the rules for it but some very very old characters were deleted.

If you have lost your characters due to the clean up - don't despair, it will take you a few hours to get your new characters up to 52+ - levelling is so much easier now than it ever was. If you follow the quest chain from level 0, as you hand in each quest, the same npc will give you a new one (unless you fall short of the level which CAN happen at about level 30-32, in which case remember where the NPC is and grind a bit until you meet the requirement - he will then give you the next quest). In literally 2/3 hours you will be at level 41.
The first class change quest (level 18) takes about 30 minutes, as does the second (level 38) , the third (level 76) and the fourth (level 85)!!!

Go to the official website http://truly-free.lineage2.com/path to claim your free armour/jewellery/weapon/SS as you level up - and most of all ENJOY!

Thanks for the information. I believe my highest on this account is a 66 EE. My DA is 60 something, and of course the dorfs...
So they have lowered the xp needed to level or have they increase the xp per mob? Either way it is so good to here they have relaxed the grind for leveling. God I hated the grind...and quests you say? There were some back when I played but no one did them as they did not reward enough xp to amount to anything...if they are worth doing now then I will start with those...ah where is this NPC and how do I bring up my friend list?
Thanks!
every so often you'll get a notification in the form of a Question mark and some big white writing on the screen that says "Kekropus letter has arrived" and by clicking the question mark you'll embark on a series of quests designed to make the levelling quicker.

you will receive your first repeatable quest (also a daily quest) in your late 60's. you'll know you have the right one when the NPC asks for 50 of one item and "as many as you can carry" of another (limited to 900 for each quest). if you bring in the full 900 items you're nearly guaranteed 1 level. two in your sixties.

your friend list is alt + Y

be sure to check your Path to Awakening to see if you qualify for some free gear.
I checked the Path to Awakening, I do not get anything thing until I get some more levels, as it says may toons got their levels prior to the GD launch...

I know my Heirophant is in C grade equip/weapon b/c back then when I played C grade shots where cheap and my dorfs could make it for me.

So PP's are more playable now they were in the beginning and then were just mostly parked as buffers only...would be nice to actually play it again not just have a following buffer she is 79...
My EE is 66 DA is 60

Is adena any easier to get now? When I quit it was terrible and most except adena buyers were broke. I might have 30K on all my toons lmao
Anyway, I guess I am just going to jump in and start and hopefully not be handed my *** and have some fun

I am on Chronos on where correct about that...any clans notable to stay away from or that are recruiting?

Is the Noblesse (sp?) quest still around and perhaps easier to do now???

Thanks for all of the advice/help.

edit for clarity
well...

pool all your Corrupted mats into a single toon and write down how many you have. keep that toon hidden away untouched until you get your first cool 40m.

quest for noblesse is alive and kicking, not really Easier... just different imo.

adena will be rough to come by for a while. if youve got some spare enchants sell them, buff scrolls, potions, anything you can dump.

whatever is closest to 85 already, level that one. get to 85, awaken, and be your own mentor.

mentor something new. you'll have +50% exp and all the buffs you can eat on this new toon, so make it something you remeber how to play. when you level you can claim your path to awakening gear as you go, and it will be pretty fast. collect materials and if you so chose, spoil as you go. sell the mats when the new toon awakens (should be about 7 to 8 days). by then you'll discover your mentor toon is gathering marks which can be used to buy enchants and element stones and other cool things. not much is tradeable on that front though, so save the marks until you are sure what you want, because it will be only you that will benefit from it.

after 85, well you'll get the hang of it. its a new class completely. go to aden and try your hand at the Kartia instances for solo or group. the quest reward is worth at least 4m a pop, so theres that. check the guide first though, or join a clan like AnarchyReborn or DeathNote or DeathWish. good strong pve clans that can get you going.

when youve got your first few million send your Corrupted Mats toon to Aden Reconstruction NPC in giran. trade your mats for Treasure boxes and sell them 2x the price you bought them for (or more) and double your money.

if you have the Cubic box that gives cubic pieces for B and A gear and such, try and find the average market value for them on the auction house, and if the price is right for you, sell those enchants. it can be pretty easy money with the right stuff.

good luck
Wow, so much has changed!

Thank you so much for the advice and for taking the time to actually write it all down.

I have copied and pasted this as a "guide" until I get my feet back under me...

an alert that you are only allowed to have 3 clients open pops up and the 4th client force-closes

I used this when I came back myself 2-3 weeks ago: http://boards.lineage2.com/showthread.php?t=224059

It lists the important stuff you should do, but I also googled every single quest on the list (map, world info, quests) and found quite a few others that were worth running for the exp so don't limit yourself to it. They ended up filling a few of those times where the guide had nothing left but "grind to the next level range listed in the guide".

It still gets the job done though, if you don't want to spend time looking up other stuff as I did.

FYI dunno if you could tell from the other posters, but 1st get an alt to level 40 so that you receive a Mentee Certificate, then xfer that to your main so you can make him a mentee (u want the certificate so you can get a free weapon when you 'graduate' and hit 85 - R grade).

Nope, you can't do it anymore since Lindvior. And the certificate was never transferable; you had to pick it up with another character from the Dimensional Merchant - who doesn't accept it if you try to transfer it :)
Mentee status doesn't require the certificate anymore. The only requirement is to be in a level between 1-84. At 85, after Awakening, you receive the certificate via in-game mail.

Duly noted, thanks for the update! :)

Found that out the hard way myself, finding up to date information sucks sometimes.
