Hello there!

I have played Lineage 2 since the Kamael expansion, but I quit around 2 years ago because of diverse reasons.

I really enjoyed Lineage and I thought it was one of the most beautifully designed games I ever played. Now I'd like to come back and give it a try, since I am sort of accustomed to the game when it begins and I think I can find my way around pretty well.

My problem is that, based on what I've seen in the last year of my L2, players tend to become less and less attracted to the game, since it basically transforms into a massive grindfest, slaughtering the same mob 1 thousand billion times and (this is just my personal opinion) since the level gap has become so high starting with GoD, it basically takes you up to 1 or 2 years to get to the endgame if you're a casual gamer (like if you spend 1 your today, 3 or 4 hours tomorrow and you can't play the day after tomorrow).

I took the liberty of reading the forums and I've seen some general comments that players bring up (crafting system is either dying/dead; game needs some graphics and engine update etc.)

So, I'd like to ask the community what you think about this? Is L2 a greeting environment for a new player right now? Or is it so difficult to cope with it unless you're lvl 100?

Thanks a lot for the feedback in advance!

Well there is no lvl 100 yet, just 99. It's not hard to reach 85,but if you really want to be able to do more 90 is ideal.

Botters are annoying especially in the daily quest zones. If you can cope with that then you're okay. The crafting system sucks because the drop rates were killed in attempts to discourage adena sellers and boost in-game store sales with people buying drop rune boosters. In turn it doesn't discourage anything other than adena buying in my opinion.

In any case the game is free, you don't have buy anything if you choose not to. Obviously if you don't buy vitality pots, rune boosters and stuff the game will take you longer to level. 1-85 won't be your problem, if you have a decent clan you can reach 90 no problem. After that it just depends on where you play and how much to hit 95+ and if you use XP boosters. The game is still very much about the grind and now repeat instances and daily quests. Will be so sick of Kartia lvl 85 solo and group by 90 and then there's a lvl 90 one LOL,but at least you can mix it up with instance raids with a party.

You'll be supplied with gear all the way into R grade including shots. Save ALL your adena and make sure you do the dailies, those pay decent.

I guess I can't tell you what to like. Just try it out and if you can't stand it then don't continue. You don't have to pay for the game so no loss.
But what's changed, truly? The game was always about the endless grind towards the max level. This is something that has changed for only about a year, and then the game came back to its roots.
Some parts of the game has changed but, as a whole it has pretty much stayed the same.
the "98 too 99" grind cant be compared to how old lineage 2 was.

u can easily do 12% + in 1 bday pot i know any many old people know u most likely wasnt able to pull this off at early days of Kamael or when ever they added the new lvl crap i forgot already but it doesnt matter people who grinded hellbound know what im on about :D

yes l2 has the good old grind, but its not the same as it used to be its alot easier now but still not as easy as in WoW or whatever game where people think they are grinding but basicly see their xp bar move every mob they kill or every second mob :p
