Lineage Eternal (also known as Lineage III) is an upcoming massive multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) by NCsoft. It is part of the Lineage series. (Estimated release date is currently unknown, but could be in late 2013, or early 2014).
On November 8, 2011, NCsoft officially announced Lineage Eternal as the sequel to the first Lineage, released in 1998. The first gameplay videos debuted at the G-Star 2011 gaming convention in South Korea on November 10, 2011.
Lineage Eternal was originally anticipated to use the Unreal Engine 4, but a NCsoft representative has since stated that NCsoft will instead develop an entirely new proprietary engine.
In August 2013, NCsoft announced that it was preparing to roll out the beta schedule of Lineage Eternal by the end of 2013.

And now you know.
That information is NOT correct. You got that from the Wiki. Whoever edited that content is not informed.
Lineage Eternal and Lineage 3 are NOT the same games.
This is why I am asking for any information on Lineage 3 on this board, since they are NCWest.
The spiritual successor of Lineage 1 was first revealed during G*Star 2011, but after creating a lot of hype it went quickly under the radar. Lineage Eternal is a ****-and-slash MMO that features a fast-paced combat system and the strategic use of terrain and objects. The game incorporates the “drag action” system where skills are activated by mouse gestures made on the screen and seek to provide an epic experience like leading your troops into a massive siege battle.
According to It.co.kr, NCSoft representative, Kim Taek Jin told the press during a conference call that “Lineage Eternal (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=sCdbdsFgNGI) release date will be revealed at the end of 2013”. We expect more details to be announced during G*Star 2013 that will be held in Busan, Korea on November 14, 2013.

Kind of weird that they said in that article that NCSOFT didn't have anything to report or show, when clearly they ARE working on Lineage Eternal or maybe even Lineage 3. Maybe all that drama of stolen codes before have made them super-secretive about their next flagship MMOs.
And Lineage Eternal is the spiritual successor to Lineage 1, yes but Lineage 3 is supposed to be the successor to Lineage 2.
The same representative also hinted that there is a separate team for Lineage 3, apart from Lineage Eternal.
Just correcting, Lineage Eternal is NOT a spiritual successor of L1, it is the REAL sequel.
LE story happens 200 years after Lineage 1(you can see it at the beginning of the G-Star 2011 video: "200 years have passed since the War of the False King"- the False King is the main antagonist of Lineage 1).
It is doubtful to believe in a sequel to Lineage 2 because it is a prequel to L1 - L2 starts 150 years before L1. Unless they want to ignore all L1 lore made until now in Korea and create a "L3" as an alternative universe of Lineage 1.
If some day a "L3" is announced, I strongly believe that it will be a sequel to L. Eternal instead of a an alternative universe happening at the same time as L1:

I mean c'mon, don't tell me these guys have more relevant information than NCWest.
Stop spreading rumors!
Clarify :)
We want answers NCWest!
The person who is Administrator (Representative) on lineage3-online.com forum it's a guy from a private forum selling websites to private servers etc. He also has his own l2 private server.
I don't know who he really is or if he works for Ncsoft, what is that l3 game and wth is happening here!
Story that almost no one follows and expects a sequel?
New game based on same story that no one reads?
On an unreal engine (lol)?
It seems like NC would probably lose more than they would gain.
At least they are smart making a real sequel to L1. L1 still is the most profitable game of NCSoft:
In the second quarter of 2013, L1 made 84 billion KRW(korean currency), it is more than the amount made by L2 + Aion + B&S* + GW2 together:
In 3Q13 L1 made 62 billion KRW, on the other hand L2 is the least popular game of NcSoft currently, makes 5-6 times less money than Lineage 1.
* Blade & Soul was working in Korea only until recently, when it was released on China in the end of November(the first country besides Korea). B&S currently has 195 servers and 1.8 million players on China.

On a side note, the number of players logged into the Korean servers has increased by 19% since the Ertheia update went live on December 11: http://www.inven.co.kr/webzine/news/?news=101322&site=lineage2
(about 1/4 down, under the photo of the press briefing)
These are mostly low-level players in the Korean free-to-play range; 80% of the returning players (at least those on whom they have a statistical grip via their Path to Awakening) are leveling an Ertheia character.
Inhowfar this develops into paying post-Awakening players remains to be seen.

thats the number of online players. the real number of players is 10x that number.
Guys it is very boring and often may pathetic too what you do here.
1. First of all this is a Lineage II forum, we here for the Lineage II not for another games, if you interesting in another games go to its forum or fansite or official site.
2. Back in time the whole online gamer community was just a little part of the currently one. Back in time the Lineage II got the fastest growing community world wide was faster than the WoW got.
3. Really guys you over hype every unreleased game as some super best game.
You told how good the Archage will be example on the fresh Korean ranking it is the 21st or 23rd, while the Lineage II is the 12th.
Or the Lineage 1 still more popular than the Blade & Soul.
4. It is really isn't important, that how popular and financially a MMO in its release year or month.
It is the important how the games will stand out through the time. Lineage 1 soon 14 years old. Lineage 2 over 10 years old.
They both make still very high incomings compared to most of fresh released high tech MMOs.
Yes may the Lineage 2 from the 5 most popular NC games on the 5th place in the financially rankings, but looks the GW2 or B&S or even the AION. Look their incomings decreased with 30-50% through a year, while the Lineage 2 incomings only did decrease with 1-2%.
If these games will have so fast decreasing incomings how much they will result when they will hit their 10th year?
DreamWalker how you acts you are mostly like a drama maker and a teenager player who still believe in fairy tales, that a game what has better graphic will result better gameplay, but this is so fake.
Why the NCsoft or many another companies should develop totally new games, when mostly their older games L1, L2, WoW, EVE Online etc still takes nice incomings and even would achieve much nicer incomings if they would spend the money to development or promotions and not to develop new games for expensive costs.
They made a deal to use UE4 in 2 games, the fist one will be a FPS or MMO-FPS, if the second one is a "L3" it will take alot of time, let's say 2-3 years after the launch of this FPS, considering that this FPS will launch in 2016+.
The numbers of Blade & Soul in China are impressive, NCSoft were really smart to focus on China as the first country besides korea, let's wait the 4Q13 earnings release.

NCSoft is almost as brilliant as Nintendo. Soon they will come up with games that literally...

why would they consider making such a game as L3, modeled after L2, when the popularity of this game is the lowest from all ncsoft games? L2 is destined to die slowly in time. your source is wrong, lineage eternal wont use unreal engine 4, just the next 2 games that will come after lineage eternal. first games that will come with ue4 engine will be released at the end of 2014, lineage eternal was already on the delayed list.
not smart, just the usual route. every game made by koreans went to china first and after like half year is usually released in NA too.

I never said that LE would use UE4,this link explains that UE4 will be used in 2 another games, the first will be a FPS and the second is unknown.
The early Lineage 3 project started in 2006 and they were using Unreal 3 Engine, but there was a problem with its source code which was stolen, resulting in TERA, the original artworks leaked of L3 looked similar to TERA Online.
So if it didn't happen, they would have launched L3 already, and it would look like TERA in terms of graphics-gameplay-art-design.
But it did happen, codes were stolen and TERA was created using everything they had prepared for L3. After that they decided to create everything from 0, a new game. Instead using Unreal 4, this time they decided to develop their own propriety engine(called NC in-house engine) and Lineage Eternal is born and instead of making something similar to TERA, they decided to come back to the roots of Lineage adopting the isometric view of Lineage 1.

your source (link) says: NCsoft licensed Unreal Engine 4 for two MMOs. Rumors suggested that one might be Lineage Eternal.
and that is a lie and you know it. its an in house project started from scratch. its also first time i read that first mmo created by ncsoft, using ue4, will be a fps type. its wasnt written anywhere else because they never said what types of games they will develop with ue4, only the rumors said its L3 and Aion, which is pure speculation. could be 2 new completely different games like B&S is. i read somewhere there wont be any more lineage created after lineage eternal and after that failure with L3 and Tera so probably no more L3 and excluded from the list of those 2 new mmo. like i said, L2 is far from being popular to worth developing L3. that lineage eternal is not only adopting the isometric view but its a sequel to L1 and that was the project from the start.
Miss-information, propaganda, and fanboy' zeal at its finest...
NC Soft canned the project. Period... This should tell you all you need to know about their faith in the project. Tera would not have happened if they didn't.
Tera was simply the key developers of a project wanting to finish the thing they had spent significant portions of they life creating (significant point: They did the **** work). Stupidly they either had some terrible legal advise (or didn't get any at all) and got burned by copy write law.
They paid the fines, got some decent legal advise, fired a few people, made changes to the code base, and released their 'baby' across the world. Every following legal attempt NC Soft made to shut them down hopelessly failed because they were finally 'within the law'.... Kind of a big deal.
This isn't a story about 'theft', which in the grand scheme of things is quite a stupid notion since the project has been released around the world and nobody 'else' has gone to jail. It's a story about a small developer battling against mega-corporate BS and actually winning...
The only point anyone here should really be interested in though are the first 4 lines of this post.
Next thing you'll tell me is that the Illuminati is behind Obama becoming president for the past 8 years.
NCSoft even sued NHN due toit.

And to be honest I played Tera for awhile and didn't find it that thrilling.
Wasn't too terrible but the designers behind the game openly admitted they couldn't balance the PvP. Every subsequent change they made further damaged the game-play that was initially crafted indirectly by a different individual.
The guys entrusted with the task were simply inferior designers. They couldn't grasp what made the game good and decided to copy western games (League of Legends, post Lol-Korea developed Starcraft) without truly understanding the core principals. They started to improve things but because of typically sluggish Korean development, the competitive and hopelessly fickle masses had already moved on.
This, coupled with disgustingly poor treatment of other in-game races in favour of a peculiar obsession with a disturbing paedophile magnet lolita race, just illustrates terrible judgement by a team of talented developers. Leading to the decay of whatever potential in had.
Simply put, Koreans don't know how to make 'good' games (key failing being 'balanced risk+effort vs reward' content). What they lack in substance however though they more than make up for with pretty stuff.
Lineage 2 in it's early years was a savant-like display of genius, and obviously a complete accident...
ask google if pigs can fly and will tell you 1k stories. ask google if yeti exist and same answer. i wanted ncsoft source but of course you dont have, they didnt say a thing, its kept secret.
ask google and lean to read, it said that according rumors LE would be one of these 2 games using UE4 but NCSoft DENIED IT.
just rumors, like L3 and Aion2. of course they denied because they wouldnt tell, not like the answer was no or yes back then
anyway, your source is full of ****

Indeed, I didn't claim they were 'made' there. I cited them as their reference. There was a dev. release when they added 3v3's in Tera where they mentioned their problems with balancing standard 5v5...
I wasn't clear on my remark about Starcraft: The Korean market basically developed the meta-game for high-level competitive play which is literally the standard the rest of the world is judged on. Yeah, the korean players are just that good. Which isn't too surprising since if I remember correctly something like a 3rd or more of all life-time sales were in Korea.

I love L2, old school fantasy graphics, bots,RMT,much drama on Hero chat etc...What i wish is to get the UE4 but keep the graphics i dont mind. Too fancy things are offten boring. Its a beautiful game but it really needs a new engine code to run at least better on good computers..
